I'm not going to argue as to whether this game should be called "Free Running" or "Parkour". I don't know enough about the history of the art to speak on that. What I will say is that I have read many reviews before finally purchasing this game. Most of them trash Free Running for having unresponsive controls. This is incorrect. Gamers seemed to be expecting a Tony Hawk-esque experience where you can throw a million tricks at one time for a ridiculous score. This game was not meant to be that way.At the beginning of Free Running you chose a Tracer and are trained by Sebastian Foucan in the art of free running. The training starts out simple and works it way up to more difficult tasks.Yes the controls are tricky at first but they are supposed to be. With practice you'll be throwing gainers and flying dragons off of the most precarious of surfaces. The game is about maintaining "flow" which in turn gives you more "boost" or adrenaline that allows for sprinting. Yes you are going to have a difficult time maintaining flow at first as you have to control every action from initiating the trick to the landing. It all takes timing. My only gripe with the game is the graphics and sound presentation. The environments have a bland cartoony feel to them. The music is done by a few artist from the UK however for the most part they are generic electronic breaks and techno beats. These lead to a dull feel. Luckily the gameplay itself is engrossing enough that you don't really notice. To sum it all up if you're looking for a simple trick minded experience the don't play this game. However if you like free running or parkour then this game is a must have. It's the most realistic experience you can have with the art without risking serious injury.

After playing Free Running for approximately 5 hours, I have to say I'm really enjoying it!The controls seem to be an issue with a few people, but I can't see why. There's really nothing wrong with them, they're not too loose or too stiff, I find they're very responsive and I've had no trouble with them. The animations look good, and if you manage to pull off a chain of tricks, it looks spectacular!Like any other type of game in this line (think Tony Hawks) there are lots of button combos to remember, but it's seriously not that hard as they all depend on the space around the character and 'X' seems to be the main interaction button, along with the analog stick.Falling from a great height and bouncing the character in all its ragdolly glory is pretty funny! You even have a 'Test Dummy' challenge to play, in which the objective is to cause as much damage to the character as possible. What makes this even more fun is the fact that explosives now litter the areas which catapult the character up into the air, limbs flailing. The environments are pretty big, with more than plenty opportunities for you to trick off.Graphically I'd score it 9/10 for PS2 standards, great lighting and character models, although some of the wall textures are quite flat in a level or two.The music isn't half as bad as I was anticipating, thankfully. All in all, it's a good game! The controls are fine, there's lots of moves to master and plenty of 'stomach in mouth' situations when leaping off high buildings and grabbing ledges lower down.Go get it!

I bought this for my son so this is a slightly second hand review. He is very happy with it though. The test being that he played it thoroughly, completed the levels and searched for cheats. All signals that this was good playing experience.

I love this game on the PSP, the Ps2 version was good and this is as good, if not better than the console version. Great graphics and amazing freeroaming capability. 10/10!
