Final Fantasy X-2 is a confused game, this much is clear from the two opening sequences to the game. The usual, sombre opening credits are intact, and from this beginning you could be forgiven for thinking you were about to embark on the usual Final Fantasy adventure, with accompanying heavy plots and emotional scenes aplenty.This is shattered once you start the game, however. Our heroes are introduced in colourful cut-away freeze frame, in moments which very correctly remind many people of 'Charlie's Angels.' Yuna sings J-Pop, Rikku tries to subdue a guard using her cuteness, and Paine jumps straight into action. A few moments later, the girls all join up for a group freeze-frame,and the unsuspecting gamer is left not knowing what to think.It establishes itself quickly as light-hearted, yet also throws you quickly into the thick of battle, and the unitiated may be taken aback by the speedy nature of the turn-based battles. This is a tremendous change for the series, though: the clunky, pause-ridden battles which have typified FF games thusfar is emphatically thrown out of the window, and replaced with something much more condusive to real action.Side-quests are a large feature of this game, and it is pleasing to discover that if you should ever bore of the main story, you can take day-trips to other areas and indulge yourself in a mini game or two. I once visited Luca, intending only to level up a few times before I continued, but was drawn into a beuatifully detailed reconstruction of some of Yuna's backstory: a most pleasing diversion.Production values in this game are consistently high, and the amount of speech, especially in battles, is hugely impressive. The characters are thus fleshed out fantastically, and the player is drawn into the experience with great intensity.The one drawback is that this is still Final Fantasy: seemingly a curious criticism. You still go from A to B and battle a boss before you get the item you want. You still have to level up and get money to beat these bosses, and you still have to use trial and error on too many occassions.The saving grace of FFX-2 is the inventive nature of the in-game experience, and the diverse society which makes up Spira.Rikku, Yuna and Paine do succeed in making this a successful sequel to FFX, and hopefully Square-Enix can learn from what they've done here to make FFXII a fantastic experience.

I ordered this game purely on the basis of really enjoying the rest of the series(I have never played FF7 but have been told it was easily as good as the others). After ordering I became a little concered when i read a few of the online reviews, they had very MIXED views. So i watied anxiously for my copy to test it out and see if it was up to the standard of the other games? At first i was slightly dissapointed that their were only three charachters all of which are female. This doesn't make any difference to me as im not sexest, but i sometimes feel a girl power theme about to is about to approach. Luckily this theme never really settles into the game.Now enough criticising on to the good points!Like all final fantasy games this one is huge and very replayable.What enhances this is the option of how long you want to spend playing the game, you can complete it in 15 hours by visiting the "hotspots" straight away, or take your time and spent 100 hours attempting to complete it 100%! The amount of minigames is huge and most are good fun, the addition of a new coin based game (a lot like the card game in FF8) is good fun and i feel keeping blitzball from FFX was a good idea too. I don't see how people can complain about a game haveing too many minigames, especially if you dont have too play them? This game is seriously layed back and you can play it HOW YOU WANT, the amount of routes you can take to complete the game helps too show this off. I dont mind having some repeated scenery from FFX, most have new people and buildings anyway. In fact it helps link it to FFX and make it more of a sequal. I am still not sure about the new battle system as i did enjoy buying new weapons and armour where as you are unable to do this in X-2(the main flaw for me). They have at least been replaced with garment grids which is a good idea, but not as good as conventional weapons. Verdict: As good as, but no better that FFX. Many good mini games and a fresh storyline, but many FF lovers will miss the old battle system, buying weapons and armour and being able to play as more than three characters.As a sequal to FFX: 4 starsAs a new game(if you have never played FF): 5 stars

This title tells the story of Yuna after Final Fantasy X, we all know that, that game left us with many questions after we finished it;"why did tidus jump of?""where did he swim to at the end?"and to tell you that this game completes that story, giving the answers to those questions asked.It also shows you what is becoming of Spira, how the past years have changed and its effects on the planet and its people, what has become of the Aeons, and the followers of the fayth, so this title is not to be missed, especially if you've stayed with FFX to the end.The animations and FMV sequences are uplifting, everything is completly new in this sequel, many of the things you wouldn't normally see in a Final Fantasy Title!the preformances and the detail of the story and characters are amazing.The only thing I have to point out is that, this game is very "Charlies Angels" like, and you will notice this throughout.The clothing is also a big change and I'm sure it will impress the guys..... I will say nothing more.

one of the best games in the series (although to be fair each of them is a spectacular peice of art) despite my girlfriend mocking me for playing a game based around getting pretty outfits for your main characters. dont let thst dissuade you! famtasic game as a sequal. delivery was fast and packaged well. good seller with good value!
