Buying a new printer is a minefield right? What manufacturer do you go for, which printer do you go for, whose reliable, whose got the cheapest ink? There is literally hundreds of the things.I am an Engineering Student, so my home printer gets consistent mixed use. Its also used a family printer. So I made the decision to go for Epson' 'WorkForce' branded printers. Specifically marketed for what I would consider small-medium office use? The printer offers a whole host of features, your usual Scan/Copy/Print. This machine will Fax, Double-Side print etc.But how well does it do it all?Well - in a nutshell, very well. I wanted a printer that was A3 capable, and when it comes to Epson, that puts you into two pathways. You either go for the WorkForce, or you head into the Expression range, the photo specific printers. I have no intention of printing photos. Its so much easier and FAR cheaper to get photos printed at any one of the numerous photo printing services. So assess what you want from your printer - if your after A3 printing, and you want to print A3 photos, I have no doubt this will print a good quality photo - but the Expression will do it better.Out of the box, the printer just worked. The set-up is incredibly simple, it takes around 8 minutes of initialization, and then your ready to print. Set-up to a home network was done within 20 seconds. The touchscreen is precise, accurate and instant - there is no delay or feel of cheap too it.Print speed is fantastic, if you decide to go for a higher quality then it reduces the speed, but not massively. I have printed around 120 sheet so far, and despite being on 'starter inks', the ink levels are all sat around 75%, which is welcome. I have chosen to get genuine ink but shopped around, and managed to get a Black XXL, and Colour XL's for around £80 - which should be good for circa ~ 2200 Colour pages ~ 3300 black. The paper feed is convenient and reliable. I was surprised to find that you can actually load A3 into the bottom load tray as well as rear-loading.I feel I should highlight the following two things:(1) Measure where this printer will sit - its a chunky printer, and you will need a decent bit of space for this thing to sit, its as deep as it is wide.(2) I would view this as a 'negative', as I didn't see it advertised before I purchased the printer, and its the first time I have come across this in an inkjet printer. There is a fifth cartridge for this printer. It is a 'maintenance box', costs around £20, and is essential for the longevity of the printer. It 'catches' ink when the head is being cleaned. First I have ever heard of this tech. and wasn't surprised it wasn't advertised as a feature.. Be warned that there is that additional cost to the expenses.I will update after 3/6 months with a long-term use review.

Update: After writing this review and whining about the print speed, I got so annoyed I dug out Wireshark to see what was going on. That indicated a large number of retransmits, so then it was out with the Fluke cable tester to find out where the fault was. It found... nothing. Every physical aspect passed every test, so I did a factory reset and rebooted everything. Now there are just TCP window full events (normal) and no retransmits, and the print speed is acceptable. Puzzling, particularly since magazine reviews also mention that it is very slow, but I've bumped up the star count because this is now a nice All-in-One. Still loses a star for Epson Scan 2, though.---This is a replacement for a WF-3640,so the expectation was that it would be pretty much the same but bigger. Being a later model year (2017 vs 2014) it has had some improvements, most noticeably in the user interface, which is very slick indeed. Plainly a boost in processor speed has happened there. Additional improvements include spring holding of the flatbed lid (needed on something this size, but the WF-3640 could have done with it to, to hold the lid open without assistance) and spring loaded rear feed cover (again, the WF-3640 cover just flopped open because of not closure spring). A big plus, and a significant reason I got this one over different models, is that the ink is cheaper than bottled water. RRP may be about £90 for a set but Amazon sellers will let you have the same for less than a tenner. However, there are downsides, and quite serious ones. First up, the Epson Scan software we know and like is now Epson Scan 2 and a pile of wozname. Worse, it needs admin rights to run, so not only does it pop up a UAC prompt on Windows 7 it fails to accept pushed scans from the printer (no-one to accept the UAC prompt, and then /literally/ 10 to 12 error messages about being unable to create some folder). I am seriously tempted to spend the £100 to acquire Vuescan so I don't have to use the Epson rubbish.Next, it is slow. No, not that slow - REALLY very, very slow. Over gigabyte ethernet (which this reduced to 100Mbps ethernet) the data is shifted out from the PC at about 50KBps, aka dial-up modem speeds). Any page seems to be converted to a bitmap on the PC and then that huge amount of data is trickled to the printer almost as slow as you could type the hex bytes. How they managed to cripple the thing like this is beyond me, but that's how it is.I would send it back except that there aren't a lot of A3 printers or scanners in this price range. Speaking of which, I haven't yet done an A3 print but I can see I will need to lay in some refreshments and loo breaks for when I do.

I am very happy with this printer, although I have only used it very sparingly: the black cartridge is now at 50% and the colour cartridges at 95% each. There are many functions printing options and I have just scratched the surface.I have used it to make copies and print general text and architectural drawings and the quality is superb. I am using A3 100gsm and 80gsm paper and both have been fine. A typical A3 plan prints very quick; I was very surprised at the speed. It has only one paper tray making it a manual and awkward process to change over between A3 and A4. I have a laser A4 so I use this one for A3 almost exclusively. My advice, if you intend to print mixed A3 and A4 this printer will certainly do it,but it's a bit of a chore - perhaps choose a model with two paper trays. This printer has a duplex unit which works really well, but I have only used it very little. Make sure you have extended the paper out tray so the A3 paper does not fold down in the process. On two occasions the printer has pulled in two sheets of paper. This is slightly worrying, because I know from many printers in the past, when they start to do this, it is not easy to repair. I hope it was a fluke.I am not impressed with the WiFi setup. It does not allow me to set a static IP address, and whenever the printer switches off/on it acquires a new IP address, and then Windows cannot see it anymore. I have no option but tell the router to assign it a static IP address, but this is NOT the way it should be. It is a silly and unnecessary firmware/software limitation.I have read a complaint that with A3 paper loaded, the paper tray sticks out - that is true, and so does the paper out tray. In my opinion, when you are dealing with an A3 printer, this is the least of your worries, and as A3 printers go, this is very compact indeed. Not a valid complaint.Lastly, as this is an inkjet, it will soon require fresh ink cartridges. Additionally I presume that long periods of inactivity, dry rooms, central heating etc, may dry out and destroy the existing cartridges. I have also read from one reviewer that using non-genuine cartridges may void your warranty with Epson. This is certainly something to take into account when choosing this or any inkjet printer. I personally may buy compatible (much cheaper) cartridges when the time comes, and as always, those cartridges have their own reviews on Amazon. But buyer beware. A laser printer is the only alternative to this problem but they are many times more expensive.I may revisit this review when I have used it a bit more and have tried compatible cartridges etc.

The WF-7710DWF A3 printer (be careful with reviews on here - this page seems to include other printers causing masses of confusion) is a chunky workhorse. The A3 capability of this machine means there is an inevitably large footprint and it stands a good foot high to allow it to do double sided printing. I've used the Epson Workforce A4 printer for a while as it seemed to cope with my high volume work better than others although even this died after about 2 and a half years' use. I suspect, but cannot yet confirm, this will have a similar life span. There seems to be an element of built in obsolesence with Epson to encourage you to upgrade. It is the roller that is the most vulnerable component. The 7710 is a solid performer. The ink quality is reasonable (not as good as the Canons in my opinion) and it is reasonably fast without being anything Earth shattering. It is slightly faster on black and white. The advantages are the ability to double side A3 and the ability to scan A3. In practice, I tend to use A3 for poser styles so perhaps this is not essential for me, but it's nice to have and a feature my old Canon did not have. It is a bit clunky in terms of noise but a little quieter if you are not double siding.Set up is relatively straightforward and the wireless set up is surprisingly painless. Now to the usual gripe about inks. First of all, I'd advise buying a full set with the unit. It does come with inks but they are the usual starter packs so don't last long at all. Inks are where these companies make their money and they are far from cheap. Of course cheaper alternatives are available but often don't last as long. There is some comment on here that the Epsons recognize non Epson inks and won't print. This is only half true. They do recognise when you are saving money and the machine expresses its disgust of your frugal tendencies via a series of messages but just ignore it and tell it to get on with the job and eventually it will give in and print.Overall, this is a good value alternative if you desperately need double sided A3. Otherwise it's overkill. It's certainly no great looker and the quality of the printing has me thinking "yeah, that'll do" rather than "wow, did it just do that?". For all that, there are not many double sided A3 machines in this sort of price range which gives it an advantage.

As this Amazon listing and hence the attached reviews cover multiple models of printers, I would make it clear that this review is for the recently introduced Epson Workforce WF-7710DWF inkjet printer. First of all, a potential buyer should be clear that this is suitable for a small office environment or for a very heavy domestic user due to its sheer size. It's not so much it's footprint, which is not insubstantial due to its A3 capacity, but it also stands about a foot high. It weighs in at about 18kg so you may need help in getting it into position!I found the printer quite easy to set up and I was soon printing using wifi. It should be noted that you can also hard wire to the printer using a USB cable.Printing was rapid as compared to the normal domestic printer I am used to and black and white copies come through at about 20 a minute and colour copies at maybe half that rate. Epson quote a maximum use rate of 20,000 copies a month which rather emphasises this printer’s small business credentials.Economy is very good, and much better than many laser printers. I have seen a cost of 1.6p per print mentioned. However, this printer also works with cheaper non Epson cartridges. Like other Epsons I have used the machine will give you a message saying that it has found a ‘non genuine’ cartridge, but if you just keep pressing OK it will accept it. So, if you decided to go down this route then there is no problem, though Epson do their best to persuade you that this is not a good idea! It's a versatile machine which will also scan up to A3 size - you can output in a range of formats including PDF and jpeg. It will, of course, copy and it also can be used to fax documents, although I do not think that that particular technology is much in use any more! As with most Epsons, it will also do double sided printing. So far I have been very impressed. You certainly get a lot of printer for your money and it will happily cope with a heavy workload. I have been very happy with the print quality and have had no problems so far. It's worth mentioning that there is a 12 month on site warranty, which given the size of the machine is quite important. Highly Recommended!

This is far more than just a printer. You can also scan and fax. It comes with a disc which you simply install on your laptop/computer then you need to set up the printer to find your wi-fi signal. This is actually quite easy, the user display on the printer itself is bright and has a simple user friendly layout. There is also written guidance on how to set up this product. I must admit I have only ever used this has a printer, I find it very useful to print off postage labels and I love the fact there's no wires required! There's a paper feeder on top and the bottom section of the printer has a paper draw.I have it set up so the paper is taken from the paper draw and once printed it emerges onto a adjustable tray (i love the fact this tray can withdraw totally into the printer so it doesn't get in the way when you aren't using it). I received ink cartridges with the product in afew colours. The ink didn't seem to last long (but again i do print postage labels) but it was cheap to buy more black ink. It isn't immediately obvious how to replace ink. You can't simply open up the top to access the ink section because the inks are keep in place by a plastic lid that is only accessible if you use the user display to move the inks into reach. I must admit, I've looked at user display trying to find out how to do this and i'm stumped.Overall I think this is a good item for a small business. It is quite bulky so you will need a decent amount of space for it.

I haven't had this long but, up to now, i'm very pleased with it. To begin with, it is quite big. Think of a 2 foot cube and you won't go far wrong. Taking delivery, unpacking, carrying upstairs and siting in a suitable place, did leave me a little puffed to say the least. So another pair of hands is definitely recommended. It needs open space at the front, for obvious reasons, with occasional access to the rear, to help clear any paper jams, fingers crossed. After saying all that and viewing many larger and much more expensive machines, i'm happy with my purchase. I found the setting up of this very straightforward, for which i was pleasantly surprised, having had a different experience with a relative's Epson. My main reason for buying this, is to make use of the A3 capabilities. What i always look for, as well as checking reviews etc. is the cost of the inks. Mutiple ink systems are a must, for me anyway. While i know, all 'genuine inks' without exception, are grossly over priced, i have found compatible ink sets for this at a very reasonable cost. I also know that the warranty is void by using a non Epson ink. The way i look at it, if the printer lasts for more than a year ( the usual warranty cover ), what i save on the ink will pay for a new one anyway. For what this All-In-One A3 printer provides :- wireless printing, copying, scanning and fax ( does anyone use the fax these days? ), it suits my needs and i would recommend it.

A nicely made printer, well packed, very flexible printing and scanning options but let down by some of the worst software I've ever used with multi-function printers. The Windows software is bad, but the Mac software is in a different dimension of bad. Paper size mismatches, duplicate menu options, printer ignoring the settings, not printing at all, scanner not making multi-page documents et.c. just as well it's heavy, I suspect early on I might have just chucked it out of the window (trying to print an A3 double side on heavyweight paper from a Mac - the hardware was willing, the software wasn't) Epson support did their best, quickly realising how terrible the driver for the Mac was,but their workaround - disable all error messages and print anyway - left me a bit empty, I ended up printing the document on the PC (the palms of my hands need shaving now) To print an eight page A3 double sided document used up most of the starter inks and a lot of paper! I can see why this printer is so deeply discounted now. I've got used to the quirks, so I'm not too bothered now, but if I could turn back time, I wouldn't buy it without a steep discount.

I bought this to replace my WF3640 which finally gave up the ghost after nearly 8 years of daily work.I didn't realise this one was half as big again as the 3640 and a bit heavier, but it does what it says on the tin, and pretty quick too, prints A3 and A4 and you can mix paper trays A3 in one and A4 in the other, not sure yet what the ink use will be but I am using the XXL cartridges, connects using Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, near-field communication and USB, I connect to it using USB, but I could use Wi Fi as my router can see it too and so can my phone. Its also Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready too so when my ink gets low the printer orders new cartridges automatically but you can turn this off.All in all I am as impressed with WF7720 so far as I was when I got my WF3640,if I had been able to get a replacement head for the 3640 I wouldn't have bought this but it was on special offer at well under £200 so couldn't resist treating myself to a new printer..As a PS I have bought Epson ink bottles and new empty cartridges I am going to experiment refilling cartridges myself, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG...LOL

This is a true A3 printer with both A3 scanner platen and ability to print on upto A3 paper. Our previous 'A3' printer had A4 size scanner platen but was good at stitching image together to produce one A3 print. It's a pretty large printer (the dimensions quoted on Amazon were sufficiently correct) so needs a fair bit of desk space. Set up was straightforward and the printer is successfully connected wirelessly to ipads, windows PCs and laptops and no doubt would also connect to our (Android) phones if we wished. There isn't a full operators manual with it, just a start up sheet. The full manual is downloadable from internet and we prefer it this way. Text print is good and photo print on plain paper surprisingly good.It doesn't take long to print but we haven't thrown any long jobs at it. Manufacturer inks are expensive for this model, too early to say how long they last, therefore their value. It's early days with this printer at present but, so far, we're pleased with it. Good value for what it does. I'll update if things change.

I'm very impressed with this versatile printer. It's my first ever A3 printer but it's been very much needed and saves money from professional printing places getting posters and set lists printed off for events that i'm involved in.This was easy to set up, it took me around 10 minutes and a big advantage for me is that's wireless, my last printer was wired and attached to a desktop which I no longer have, so being able to print from my phone in seconds is amazing.Printing speed is phenomenal, I still can't believe that I own something this Pro, the quality of print is fantastic, the speed is impressive, it's saved me a fortune, the only expense is the ink - the cartridges supplied don't last long as they're more sample cartridges so it's worth ordering a pack with the printer.Recommended, I use this mainly for printing A3 and A4 posters but the scanner is very useful and effective too and you know to expect quality when it's Epsom - haven't encountered any problems so far, a really amazing printer!

I decided to upgrade my A4 laser to a A3 Printer. As i needed an AOI (All-In-One) the laser versions were very expensive , especially when it comes to replacing toners. So after researching for a good inkjet, the recommendations were pointing to this particular printer. Price varied across the internet and the replacement inks that are available have different high yield black cartridgesat a good price, as this is what i require to print my music. Unboxed and on inspection found that a lot of care is taken when the item is in transit to the customer. Set up was very easy and installed onto a windows 10 PC trouble free.As i have only just acquired this great piece of kit and reading the documentation,it will probably take a little bit of getting used to its functions as it is packed with many possibilities. Printing,Scanning, copying, faxing, emailing the jobs it can do goes on and on, not forgetting to mention the ability to print from your mobile.

I got this to replace an ancient HP OfficeJet which had just begun to wear out its second set of print heads and was starting to become capricious and unreliable in a number of irritating ways.I especially like the printing on both sides of the paper. The connectivity is a dream. I've not yet had to print on A3 but to have the option is nice. I know it's an "office" machine and perhaps not optimised with many separate ink colours for printing photographs but I have found the results on photo paper to be very pleasing. The initial starter inks supplied with the machine have lasted pretty well. And the web-based admin - what a luxury. The only sightly creepy thing is how the Chrome browser knewit was there and lobbied for it to be connected to Google's cloud printing service. If I had to buy another printer, would I buy Epson or this model based on my experience so far? The answer is without hesitation or qualification, yes.

This printer really has amazed me in terms of it can do so many things. I've set it up to scan wirelessly to my email address, onedrive and google. The touchscreen is a quite a big full colour glass display with high pixel density and you can swipe across (not like most edgy printer touchscreens). It has a secret tray at the back, really designed for photos and stuff but you can use it for A3 too. Once you set the two trays (I put my bottom one for A3 - note that it does stick out a bit when you do this, but doesn't look bad) as A4 or A3 then it chooses the correct one automatically. You can resize easily do all that stuff. Tried photocopying a book double page spread and it worked really well - make sure you tick to take off shadows though.Really enjoying this printer. Is the printing quality better than my Canon Pixel MG Series? Too early to judge but I'm not convinced. It is certainly not bad though.

Good print/scan/copy including two sided scanning and printing. Who on earth, apart from the NHS (behind the times) and the Japanese (alphabet is 3000 characters and therefore easier to write) still uses fax?The 7710DWF connects with my mobile for basic printing, but will not reliably connect to the nearby HP PC over wifi. Does it once, then throws a fit and refuses to co-operate. Tried to negotiate with printer and PC, but each blames the other. This printer has replaced a battered WP4545DWF which gave good service. If you're doing photos and docs you want to last a lifetime. For everything else, compatibles are OK.BUT run a full-colour sheet through the printer weekly or you'll risk clogged jets and using the printer's own ink jet cleaning system won't always clear blockages. They can be cleared using non-standard methodologies, but better to do a weekly full-colour print and avoid the issue.
