These prefilters from Eheim are great and save me a lot of time and effort. They ae made to be strong and sturdy so they won’t beak up over time. The filter contains 2 foam balls that filter the big and heavy muck out of the water before it enters the main filters. Having cleaner water in the filter allows it to do job better with less frequency of filter cleaning. I used to clean my filters every two weeks faithfully and even at that they were a mess. I installed the prefilters and take the 10 minutes every week to rinse them out and I’ve would stretch the cleaning out to every 4 to 6 weeks depending on bio-load. And even at the longer time gaps the filters are generally not that bad and the time to clean them is really reduced also.

Not a bad little sponge filter .Will just fit over the intake inlet strainer for a eheim power head 650 ( part number 1212110 ) , so you can use it as a circulation pump also .Haven't used it in an aquaball filter though !You get two in the box .Their off white in colour .Their fairly course .Good eheim quality .Overpriced like most eheim items .( lost a star for this ) .Should last well though .Just need a good rinse now and again .Would buy another one if it lasts and i needed one .Worth a chance .Can recommend .Would buy again .This is my honest opinion .I believe it's important to leave a review of an item , as it helps others make an informed decision .Any questions ?

These filters are a must if your going to have the Eheim Pre-filters. I've ordered an extra set of these filters so when changing them I don't have to slow the process down to wash filter before I can put a clean set in snap them together and re-install. Than I wash all the dirty filter at one time and set them out to dry to be used in next weeks changing. This is a great time saver for me. The foam filters are exceptional quality and rugged so they last for a long time. Using the switch out weekly gives the filters a rest and prolongs their life. The amount of muck the foam filter - filters out is amazing and really prolongs the intervals between having to do your canister filter changes.

I have been using Eheim filter media for close to ten years now and I think it's the most reliable and well-made equipment you can use for home aquariums. The tropical fish seller advised me to use Eheim products for the most optimal care for my fish live-stock.

Foam cartridges replaced well used same items, should have replaced them sooner to keep the filter running perfect. Next time will replace much sooner.

I bought these sponges for both my goldfish tanks and must say the ehiem product is very good,Picks up a lot of the fish waste and mess,
