Back in mid 2005 the original Destroy All Humans came out on the original Xbox and the Playstation 2 where it was met with an average reception, I won't go into the full history as that's easily found online. The series has been in pretty much a hiatus since 2008 after the previous releases on the Wii and Xbox 360 which weren't well received so it looked like the series was likely dead.So it was a surprise when this remake of the original game was announced last year, it seems like THQ are testing the waters as it were to see if franchises like Destroy All Humans, Saints Row, SpongeBob Squarepants and others that have more or less been dead a while are welcome today.Going by how well receivedthis remake and the Saints Row 3 remaster have been received recently then it looks like they have been.So anyway this remake is basically a graphical enhancement of the original game along with quality of life improvements to bring up to modern standards, well as best as you can bring a 2005 game up to modern standards anyway. You play as Cryptosporidium 137, Crypto for short, who has been sent to Earth to find out what's happened what's happened to one of his clones, Crypto 136, and to essentially begin the invasion of Earth by destroying all humans. Pretty simple premise really. The game is played in third person on ground and air, on ground you control Crypto and in the air you can fly his ship. You can unlock upgrades for both Crypto and his ship which help increase both your offensive and defensive abilities as well as new weapons and skills over the course of the game. You also have psychokinetic abilities and can disguise yourself as a human, although the stealth sections for that ability can honestly be a tad annoying. The game is set in 1950s America with the humour poking fun at the attitudes of the time, the humour is okay but nothing really memorable, it is what it is considering the setting. The areas in the game are small sandbox like levels but you usually have to approach your objectives in a linear fashion, especially in later stages where it's too easy to be overwhelmed or fail a mission if you don't do things exactly right. The real meat of the game is in it's game play, it can be quite fun to bring down the might of the Furon Empire on the hapless humans. The visuals are beautiful and detailed, they really do bring the game to life and a vast improvement over the original release. The controls feel more responsive if a little floaty at points, if you played the original then you pretty much know what to expect. The remake doe add in some new content however that was cut from the original. For anyone new to the series then this could be a good introduction, maybe if it does well enough a remake of the sequel might appear and maybe even a new game in the series. It's an enjoyable game despite how dated it feels in places, it won't last you super long but you'll have a fun time while it lasts.

To understand this game properly you will have to understand the science fiction at the time the games set in the late 50s Sci Fi went massive and everyone with enough money tried to cash in on the popularity of the genre.Destroy all humans pays homage to many of these films and also parodies them, it's main inspiration was the so bad it's good sci fi film Plan 9 from outer space. The cutscenes are as they should be, no jokes are cut out for the benefit of overly sensitive people (I was worried they would) but there is a disclaimer, the humor is best described as animated cartoons like American dad with a dash of B movie Sci fi. The game parodies cold war paranoia brilliantly,1950s attitudes and films.(so many references to films and TV made in the time it's set and after you won't notice them all)The button map is redesigned, you can no longer use Psychokensis in Holobob and there is no drain of PK/focus anymore. The saucer now moves up and down and you recycle objects for ammo instead of collecting it in the maps (all welcome additions from later games)You also have a dash move which can be upgraded so crypto can hoverboard with his own Psychokenisis and the jetpack controls are improved.I've experienced a few bugs mainly animations getting frozen on humans but it can be easily patched. Overall I'd give this a good 8.5/10Now all we need is it's even better sequel remade for it's great satire on 1960s culture.Read full review...

"Destroy All Humans!" is one of those games any avid PS2/Xbox player would remember from the mid 2000s. It was violently wacky, comedic and a lot of fun with interesting characters and superb dialogue. Cryptosporidium 137 returns in this faithful remake rebuilt from the ground up, and is on point in every conceivable way. Much, if not all of the dialogue is reused from the original game and none of the characters' voices have been replaced. The gameplay is polished with beautiful graphics, a clean HUD system and easy, navigational menus. Crypto's arsenal remains the same with the good ol' Zap-o-Matic, to the Saucer with its powerful Death Ray and so on.Another really nice addition to the game are unlockable skins to change the way Crypto looks, which are unlocked through progression and not egregious microtransactions. Overall I'm really happy with this remake, THQ Nordic deserves my respect for staying faithful to the original and for delivering one of the best remakes in gaming history.

For anyone who thought this was going to be a full remake, you're going to be a disappointed; however, if you loved the original, then you're going to love this. The game is virtually identical to the original: dialogue, sound f/x, gameplay etc. - with some subtle changes and additions. Obviously the graphics are a massive update from the original game. Hopefully if this game is successful then we'll see an original sequel, as opposed to just another remade version of the sequel(s) that followed this. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there's just not enough new content to make it original.

This game is on ps4 and is a single player game. Crypto and alien comes to earth and uses mind telepathy to read peoples minds and zaps them to steal there brains and for some reason he sounds abit like Jack Nicholson. But its all good fun. Crypto can take on human disguises while reading peoples minds. I love this game as I use to play it on PS3 years ago, I am glad they released it on PS4.
