If you want to start to understand how Cognac or indeed any brandy should be made, start with this. It's not messed around with and for some will no doubt be bland. But having consumed some very expensive brandies in the past (six times the price of this one), I would say I wish my starting point had been pale & dry. If you start with this product, you understand why others do what they do with their products to achieve the flavour profile that they want... which may not actually fit with your palate... but understanding that can only come from a reference point, which is why I say start here.... and I mean here... forget Delamain's more expensive offerings because they have had additions included..

A superb cognac from an historical house renowned for its cognac. A medal winning XO, this will make an ideal present for anyone who appreciates the finer things in life and the bouquet and taste of an aged cognac.Initial floral notes on the nose and rancio are followed by fruit flavours on the palate.This XO (extra old) cognac is free of any colouring (usually caramel) and is not dosed with sugar to sweeten the taste.A bargain price for an XO from an established house (which doesn't advertise heavily, relying on their reputation, not promotions.) and an ideal birthday or Christmas present.

Other than an occasional after dinner cognac, I know zilch about the drink. I wanted a present and saw this nice looking bottle with good feedback about taste etc. Price seemed good, so I bought it, but on delivery realised I hadn’t read the detail. I thought it was a full size bottle, but on it isn’t. My fault; I didn’t know tiny bottles were available, beautifully presented.So my intended recipient never got to taste this and Amazon, good to their word, refunded full cost when I returned the item.

These guys are brilliant. It's light, it's fruity and the best Cognac I have ever had. Be warned, this is not a heavy chewy type like the "Big Brand" XO's. There is no added caramel, Delamain reduce the alcohol down with other very very very low alcohol old Cognacs, adding more quality and flavour but not by adding demineralised water or the like. Still family owned, they grow nothing, distill nothing and therefore buy the finest of what there is to offer from the 5000 or so local producers.

Bought this for Dad's 70th, he said, and I quote, "You pesky whatnot, how am I supposed to go back to drinking the normal stuff now?" I had just bought his wife a bottle of VSOP for her birthday, this is now what he refers to as the ordinary stuff.The research that made the decision for me was there is no colour or sweetness added, this is just a straight unpolluted brandy.

Best Brandy I have ever tasted that's within my price range.Very smooth mellow fruity drink.Only pour a small tot with dash of spring water NOT SODA/FIZZ and sip.Make it last and just have one so bottle lasts longer.Recommend to any Brandy Lover

Bought the Vespar before this... and I have to say that I think the Pale and Dry is a better product... more obvious flavours in my view. The spirit is typical good quality Cognac that's not been messed around with i.e. sugar and caramel etc..

My husband loves this, he gives it five stars for depth of flavour and smoothness. I thought it tasted like fire water myself but I’m not the expert on spirits. Give me a glass of wine any day!

Best Cognac around for the money.Most pleasurable to drink. Great packaging from the supplier,delivered on time,and half drunk the bottle already.Time to top up again I think!

Bought as a gift for family member and he rang me up especially to tell me it was his favorite cognac so far and that's on top of the fact he always prefers XO cognac.

A beautiful sipping drink (straight of course), initially very smooth on the palate and then the warm fruity after taste kicks in, highly recommended.

This was for my husband, Delamain is his favourite brand of Cognac and at this price it was too good not to have another bottle in the house.

I was lucky enough to get a bottle of this for £42, it is absolutely gorgeous and I want more but I cannot justify £80 odd quid a bottle

This is dreamy stuff. Smooth and well rounded, great balance and finish. Recommeded for true cognac appreciators.
