I am by no means a connoisseur of brandy but I have had the occasion to drink some pretty nasty stuff at various stages in my life. I like the odd glass once in a blue moon and the last time I drank a Courvoisier VSOP I found it to be suited to my palate. Nice and smooth without the inner burn that you get with cheaper brands. It was also a gift. Now what makes me happy about this particular purchase is the the price. Much more suited to my pocket. At £22 it represented a significant saving over the retailers. So, a good quality brandy, a great price and free delivery. My wife is away visiting the kids abroad and I can see the bottle over the top of the screen whilst I type and there is a lovely crystal brandy bowl waiting in the wings. If I don't add to this in the next 10 minutes you can assume it is at least as good as the last time.

It seems that only brandy produced in the Charente area of western France can be called cognac. Indeed, even that which is produced in the area must meet strict standards if it is to be allowed to be labelled cognac. This Courvoisier V.S.O.P. cognac is a fine and eminently drinkable example of the distillers art. Without wanting to be overly effusive it has refined floral and fruity notes before the spreading warm glow in the stomach kicks in. I have, in the past, experienced the more expensive XO Napoleon brandy but for my money this is more enjoyable. It comes nicely presented and would make an excellent gift of appreciation.Another little piece of brandy trivia I came across, the correct glass to use is just a stem with a bulb narrowing at the top and not the admittedly classy looking enormous goblet.

I am no expert on spirits, in fact I drink little spirits, a bottle lasts me more than a year. I tend to only get the bottles out at Christmas and have a small glass with the rest of the family when they come round. I hate whisky, love vodka, and can take or leave brandy and rum. This to me tastes similar to other brandy's that I have had before, the same burning sensation at the back of your throat. I was expecting this to be a lot smoother due to the increased price, so was surprised when I tried it. I do keep a small bottle of glycerine for baking, so added a drop of that in a glass, and it worked wonders. The burning taste went and it was a lot smoother to my palate. Finally I can taste the nice after notes, and it is a nice brandy. I would buy this again, but not pay the full RRP.

When tasted, the first sensation is a sweet one - a peachy, sweet blossom of an aroma that could belong to a dessert wine. This is immediately followed by an almond surge, then - bang - the alcohol kicks in with a burn, leaving a vanilla trail behind it.It's a well-balanced cognac that is quite flamboyant in the way it reveals itself, but I didn't find it as complex or as smooth as I had hoped for; it met with a positive reaction from the two of us - increasingly so as we came towards the bottom of the bottle.I'm aware that cognac can be a very expensive drink to buy, but a bit more refinement and smoothness would have given this bottle an extra star.Nice enough for the price without being exceptional.

Bought as gifts, well received and went down well with both parties. Lovely stuff, nice to relax with after you come indoors on a cold day.For those that don't know: V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale) or Reserve designates a blend in which the youngest brandy is stored for at least four years in a cask. XO (Extra Old) or Napoléon currently designates a blend in which the youngest brandy is stored for at least six years. This is VSOP.

This is initially sweet and fruity, then nutty, with a relatively smooth finish. I am more of a whisky person, but enjoyed this as an after dinner sipping drink. I suppose I expected a more complex taste as this was relatively expensively priced, but it was good and very enjoyable. Good with coffee, and with a touch of soda (sacrelige I know), as well as in a hot toddy - as a change to Crabbies!

I am not a connoisseur of brandy. Generally I buy it at Christmas, use it to set fire to the pudding then drink what's left over the next few weeks. Clearly this is a different beast, a superior blend with a lovely smooth taste. I would willingly buy it again and shall be wasting it on the Christmas pudding!

Smooth with strong jasmine and almond notes, this is very drinkable on its on, or with ice.Haven’t tried mixing it, except for a hot toddy that certainly did the trick with a recent cold. This and Torres brandy are my favourite with coke / hot toddy.

My favourite cognac, which I purchased at a special price to stock up for Christmas. In my view it by far the smoothest and best cognac within it’s price range.Pefect to drink neat with a mixer or as part of a cocktail.

Arrived in perfect condition. Courvoisier is the best brandy in my opinion. I have tried most of the other well known brands and this tops them all. Smooth like honey, it does not burn and has no sharp edges. Love it.

Eventually a good buy. Initial purchase was damaged on receipt but seller declined to authorise return. New order has very nice pair of glasses with Courvoisier Logo round the top. Well worth the cost.

A lovely introduction to the world of Brandy. It comes very well presented in a smart box. It’s very tasty, especially when mixed with Ginger Ale. It’s also nice with a single ice cube and measure

Bottle has really nice classy look, perfect for gift.Regarding how it taste - in my humble opinion better flavour than Rémy Martin. Box was slightly damaged but overall very happy with product.

A friend recommended this to me and I can see why. A soft and delicate cognac with hints of vanilla, dried fruit and floral notes, way too easy to drink! Highly recommend and will buy again.

Bought two as gifts. Both recipients loved the brandy and loved the "attractive" glasses. They were both very happy with this gift box. Both packages arrived undamaged and in good condition.
