For many years my needs for cognac have been met by the purchase of a five-year matured brandy from an unassuming French supplier so the Martell was an adventure into higher echelons of price, styling and advertising.........would I be able to taste the difference? Cooking with brandy is one thing--we are all familiar with meats flambé, with flaming puddings and pancakes, but it would be ignoble to ue the Martell for these purposes as well as more costly than specific cooking brandy. However the chief culinary use for cognac in my kitchen is for trifles and for fruit salads and there taste matters (and the alcohol is not being burnt out!)

Martell VS is definitely a cut above the rest. I had a Remy Martin VSOP before this and it was horrible. Burnt the back of my throat and left a nasty chemical aftertaste.The Martell on the other hand, despite being “just” a VS, is like sipping nectar... sweet, aromatic and very smooth. I bought a bottle at the start of December for Christmas but it didn’t last 2 weeks. Now a second bottle is on its way. I just can’t stop drinking it!The only reason I only gave it 4 stars for flavour is because the Martell Cordon Bleu is even nicer!

I occassionally drink cognac. Mostly warm. Occassionally on ice. The odd nightcap before going to bed. A finger height in the glass. I don't like sweet drinks very often and this cognac isn't thankfully. I prefer it to Courvoisier, which is a good and bad thing. Bad only in the sense I'm tempted to drink it more often.The colour of this cognac brandy looks great in my Louis XIII decanter.

This fine cognac brandy flavour is absolutely sublime, very airy and fresh with each taste, so smooth and delicious on each sip. I am very new to Martell brand, and so pleasantly surprised found a hidden treasure. I will looking to buy more bottles in the future, it’s value for money and the price is so low, an added bonus.

Very nice smooth cognac with little burn, slight fruit and wood scent in the glass with charred wood and hints of vanilla when tasted. Normally stick to Hine or Hennessy's as I find the flavour more rich and complex but this makes for a very nice tipple which can be found at most supermarkets also.

The best Brandy available at this price. Served warm on a cold winters night, it’s a great natural coughs & colds remedy!You’ll only get it boxed if you pay a bit more. Comes in Amazon package otherwise.

Bought it as it was on deal,very good discount. Really nice flavour. Arrived really fast. From now any of my alcohol I buy from Amazon, Very easy, much cheaper and gets delivered straight to you door.

I got it to add in tiramisu...it was delicious. Absolutely love it. I am most likely to cook with this product as I am not a cognac drinker ;)...but for tiramisu..it is PERFECT!

Although maybe not as popular as courvoisier in the 18-30 age group, to me this is a far better drink.For the price there aren't many better tasting brandies in my opinion.

Had been given a present of this which was quickly consumed so decided to buy a bottle. It’s very good and easy to drink without any mixers. Another order looming.

I drank this in under an hour.Well, I started drinking at 7pm, and the next thing I remember is checking my watch at 8pm. Good work Martell - objective complete

A mild brandy, not as fiery as some French cognacs. Nice on its own or with a drop of Canada Dry. Extra nice if warmed for a few seconds in the microwave.

My favourite bottom shelf Brandy. Beautiful taste when neat on mixed. Bottle is stunning and gives off the impression of a much more premium bottle.

Really enjoyed this over time....obviously!! Known make and a firm favourite. Delivery on time and intact. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Arrived today but the picture on Amazon needs updating as this is the new updated bottle (vs single distillery fine cognac) without a box
