To properly sear meat you need a hot pan: I stick my Chasseur grillpan over a very powerful gas burner and heat to 300 deg C plus.Place two steaks, beef or lamb, straight onto it, turn through 90 degrees after a couple of minutes, flip the steaks and repeat. Great quadrillage, so great flavour; no need for oil or fat. Thicker steaks get finished in the same pan in a hot oven.Or use for grilled cheese sandwiches, over much lower heat. fantasticThe pan heats quickly & evenly and has withstood a lot of cooking over a few years. Cleans easily. Would buy another if it got lost.

This is a good pan for putting the lines into your steak. My only gripe is that the handle is a bit thin for the weight of the pan as it is cast iron and they are heavy. It is definitely one for the men as I feel it would be too heavy with the thin handle for many women to use. The pan itself does as it should so no complaints there. Good pan to get the hubby or boyfriend to start him cooking a bit more for you ladies. Good for the hob or under the grill.

Bought this for my father and he keeps saying how easy it is to use it and how much he likes the product!Very good quality of materials and steady temperature across the whole surface.Plus! Easy to clean! He just loves it!

This cast iron pan is excellent value. Every bit as good as another well known French make but MUCH cheaper. Cooks steak brilliantly AND it has a completely smooth base if you wish to use it on a ceramic hob.

I don't know how I managed without this!! Easy to use,and easy to clean and a very healthy way to roast and grill. Fabulous.

the best pan for steaks / chops etc it may be heavy can be used in the oven ,in the grill or on the hob
