Canon's officially branded batteries are not cheap, but you do get what you pay for.My experience with 3rd party cells in my Canon rig has not been positive. There certainly have been no disasters ala leakage or combustion, but claims they are identical in performance are way off the mark. I've used the BP-727 in my Legria HFM52 for a few months now and am very happy with its performance. I'm comfortably getting 3 hours of shooting time and it appears little charge is lost whilst the camera is in standby. Last major outing was the Universal parks Florida this year, carrying the BP-727 in my bag with the stock BP-718 comfortably seen me through 2 days of shooting.I do agree with the other reviewers that the battery does not have a vice like grip when attached to the camera,

I sometimes video for a church concert or for the midnight carol service and the battery that comes with the camcorder will probably do the job but you will be on edge because it will be on its limit, i wanted a battery that i could put on the camcorder leave it switched on and film without any worry of the battery going flat and this battery does the job 100% and i would recommend you get the original canon battery it is expensive i paid around £90 for mine but you get what you pay and peace of mind that it will not let you down, do not buy an alternative canon battery that promises great things,

The stock battery that came with my Canon Legria HF R37 lasts about half an hour (something Canon should not even be supplying, but that's another discussion) This one lasts about 3 hours, works great. My only remarks would be that it's feels loose when connected to the camera (you can wiggle it), and makes the camera almost to large to store away in the stock Cannon camera pouch that came with my Canon Legria HF R37.Great for filming when you're out all day, on road trips etc.

This is an essential item for the video enthusiast as it gives a lot longer camera use. It has a memory capability and this is shown on the screen of the camera when in use, competitor batteries do not always have this facility and you would have no way of knowing it was about to fail.It is important to use the canon accessories for good service.

This battery really extends the use of a camcorder as you can film (almost) without thinking about saving battery time. In addition, it enables the (at least my) camcorder to display how minutes of battery time you have left. Only drawback is the price (hence 4 out of five stars).

Product as stated. It is expensive (as all video camera batteries are) but essential as you do need to carry spare batteries with your camera.The alternative is the cheap Chinese version which you don't want to trust and is not fully compatible.

Perfect spare battery for the Canon Legria HF R46. Bit on the expensive side for what you get.Gave it 4 stars as the capacity does seem a bit low - doesn't last as long as you might expect, hence having a spare.

Bought this as long life battery for my canon.It is great.Only point against . Not sure if it is battery or cameraBattery does not tightly fit the camera.

Standard supplied battery is rubbish - THis one gives you over a hour of recording, its expensive but you always need to have more than 30 mins to record

I bought the genuine article so it won't damage my husbands camcorder, expensive stuff but well happy with it and used it at Christmas

It is ideal as it lasts a lot longer than the battery that came with the video, so I have no need to keep charging batteries so often.
