Seeing that this was available for £15 on Amazon, I decided to pick it up. I'm a big FPS gamer and I was looking for something other than Killzone to play on my Vita, and was interested to see how this would compare. Overall, its something of a mixed bag.Good:----------- The multiplayer: Online lobbies are almost always full of players, even years after this game's release. Moreover, its not just confined to TDM. You'll also be able to find lobbies and other players in modes like Free-For-All and Kill Confirmed. All of the usual Call of Duty features like class creation, weapon upgrades, killstreaks, perks and prestige are also present and accounted for,and its good to see such a fully fleshed out multiplayer mode in a handheld game. The in game experience is also pretty good considering its over Wi-Fi or 3G. There is occasional ping lag, with some players teleporting from time to time, but more often than not things run pretty smoothly. Even when teleporting does happen, it isn't truly of gamebreaking proportions.- The game's' performance: it runs buttery smooth both offline and online. Obviously its not running at 60fps, but it still maintains a solid 30 even with high action on screen, with none of the frame rate drops that occasionally happen in Killzone Mercenary. The bad:----------- The single player experience: there isn't really a campaign mode to speak of. Instead you're given ten different "operations", which are essentially just single individual missions set in different stages. None of these are especially long or well fleshed out, but don't expect them to be quickly over and done with. There are no checkpoints, so if you die you have to start the mission all over again. That can get grating when you make small mistakes and end up dying close to the end of the mission, especially since many have unskippable cutscenes at the beginning. The only other single player mode is the Hostiles mode, which puts you up against wave after wave of enemies. The problem with this is that the Ai isn't especially intelligent and doesn't really deploy much in the way of tactics short of approaching you and opening fire, meaning both Hostiles and Operations modes can be a bit boring after a relatively short time. The real focus of the game is clearly on the multiplayer mode, meaning that if you're away from a wireless connection there isn't much to keep you entertained. Unlike Killzone Mercenary theres also no way of playing against bots on multiplayer maps, leaving you with far less to do if you cant guarantee an internet connection.- The graphics: The flip side to the game running smoothly is that the graphics are hardly what you'd call amazing. The graphics are a little blurry and muddy, and there's none of the sparkle that games like Killzone have. That's not to say the game looks actively bad, it just doesn't look particularly good either. You probably wont notice it too much after playing for a little while though, so this criticism can very easily be taken with a pinch of salt.Overall----------All things considered, Killzone Mercenary is overall a better FPS game - it has a vastly better campaign, more fully fleshed out mechanics, allows you to play against bots if you haven't got an internet connection to hand, and looks far prettier. However, if potential lack of internet isn't a concern then Black Ops Declassified beats it hands down. The multiplayer mode is this game's standout feature, and is clearly what it was developed around. There is no other game on PS Vita which has as active a multiplayer as this (yes, not even Killzone), and Black Ops Declassified doesn't miss a single key feature of the console/PC multiplayer experience, impressive for a handheld game. If you're going to be on the move and don't need to worry about whether you'll have internet, Black Ops Declassified is definitely worth purchasing. It will be a while before it is supplanted as the best portable implementation of CoD (unless it comes to the Nintendo Switch any time soon).

I am writing this to simply tell anyone who was interested in this game but are worried re the developer or the awful trailer then rest assured, this is a worthy content rich COD game with great graphics and gameplay. You will love it so buy now!I have been eagerly anticipating this game since before the vitas launch. I played resistance burning skies and actually thought it was a decent little shooter which simply didnt offer anything beyond a basic 6 hour campaign and 3 multiplayer game types. Anyway when the news broke that the same devs were making this and the really iffy looking trailer was released, I was worried this would be Resistance with a COD theme. My concerns were not warranted,we were all worried that Nihilistic would just take resistance and add a cod theme but it appears that Nihalstic released Resistance as a beta test for this game as it takes the solid core and adds everything that was missing!1) Graphics - gone are the faded cartoon style which really fell flat in resistance and in its place are gritty realistic graphics. Visually in your hands and while your'r playing it looks like the ps3 version (we all know it isnt technically but this holds well with uncharted ect)This is helped by the super smooth frame rate which was also a problem in resistance2) gameplay: Remarkably this is the cod you know and love (and like me may have grown a little tired of on consoles)In resistance simply sprinting was a chore so most of the time you would tread along, here sprinting is automatic (you can stop by pressing down on the dpad) so it feels fast paced. As mentioned above the frame rate is smooth at all times. The modes also now feel really fleshed out. You get a campaign single player like resistance plus a series of excellent time trials where you navigate a course and take out enemies (while avoiding civilians) card board cut outs, a hostile mode which is essentially zombies with MANY more maps than the typical zombie mode plus online which apparently has perks, a great cod leveling system, custom layouts, is smooth 4v4 action over well designed maps ectBUT I cant comment on the online because my day 1 copy needed a 400mb download patch! it said 200 minutes plus so it was an immediate let down and I was ready to condemn this game as a shambles(I have owned all cods and only play online multiplayer, especially when i first get the game) but this was negated immediately when I played the other modes and was extremely happy with how improved this game is over resistance. I actually spent 2 hours playing the time trials on my test of the other modes! All reports say the online is smooth with many well designed maps so I cant wait to test it out but this is a 5 star game, not for a handheld shooter but by any standard. Vita owners buy with confidence because this is the best shooter on the Vita (at least until killzone mercenary)Well done Nihilhistic, great work!update 15.11.12 - have played online for hours and can confirm it is flawless with fast lobbies and no lag. Have experienced 1 case of game ending suddenly out of around 15 online games. It is a real treat for run and gunners and free for all/kill confirmed fans. I think the 1 stars are from campers and snipers.Cant believe some professional reviewers have given this a 1/10. What a joke, if this exact game was on 3ds it would be praised to no end! Star fox 3d had a 40-60 minutes single player and its online was no way near as good as this yet NOONE bought it up! ditto mario kart 3ds and mario tennis yet noone brings it up with them. This is the best portable shooter ever. Period.

I approached this game with a high level of skepticism. I played all Call of Duty games on the consoles and Killzone Mercenary on the vita. I however sold my Xbox because i was starting university and i felt that it took up too much of my time, but i still wanted some form of video games therefore i bought the vita, with the intention to play games in small, enjoyable bursts. For this, Declassified is great. Even before i bought it i knew it wasnt going to be console quality, but in my opinion it doesnt have to be. In my opinion, Vita games should be Fun, and nothing more. If i want great quality games, i would play Red Dead Redemption, and other masterpieces. Anyway, here are the things i liked and did not like about Declassified:+ Maps are small, and perfectly functional, providing constant action+ Good number of weapons, attachements, and Create a Class options (not as much as the console version, but still ok)+ Hostiles (sort of a simplified version of MW3 survival) is a good distraction+ Lot of people complained about the multiplayer, however i barely came upon crashes, and its pretty fun+ The campaign mode can be enjoyed in small bursts as well+ Controls need a little getting used to, but are overall responsive and i find them fine+ The game actually retains the call of duty feel on some level- Campaign mode can be frustrating since enemies are tough and there are no checkpoints- The sensitivity can be a bit annoying sometimes (i however blame the tiny analog stick- same frustration applies to Killzone Mercenary)- I would like offline bots, but hostiles mode sort of makes up for it- Small number of maps- In multiplayer, i came across a few hacked lobbies (sort of like the state of COD 4 right now)Overall, for the purpose i bought this game for (call of duty fun for short bursts of time) is great and enjoyable. Obviously if we look at it on a critical, objective perspective, it would be pretty bad. However, i found it fun, and thats exactly what i wanted. Therefore i give it a 7.5/10. Its fun

I like many vita owners was worried when, I saw those first few clips of cod vita, I was upset, and gave up hope before the game even had any proper gameplay footage!, Also terrible websites like ign, was putting me off with their terrible reviews.. I've learnt go to lots of web sites not just one, because one person suger is another persons salt!, its an opinion ask for more.also the devs who made this game also made rburning sky.. which was..turd!however, they have redeemed them selves, in making a brilliant shooter, im so happy after doing homework watching a few clips on youtube!.. yes youtube, the game had me interested!, so I took the risk, and so happy I didthe ingame gameplay, isn't like the black ops 2 to for console which I also own, and loving, but its more bite sized, but great fun, very addictive!, every thing else is the same fast paces addictive, and best looking shooter on handheld ever it looks like black ops 1 on console, brilliant!multiplayer is where this game is at, and dont be fooled just because its 4 v 4 don't think you wont be in a gun fight, it has the feel of a console multiplayer you will love it!, controls are great only after 3 or 4 goes it became natural!I now feel bad about the things i wrote on forums about the game, this is cod at its best! buy it!!!A bit of advice to who ever does advertising for vita, more gameplay less bs adverts, people on youtube did all the hard work, and help me buy this game!BUY IT... I also bought need for speed another must have for vita owners, I think the vita will be fine, after a year of uncertainty I now know its capable of bringing great games like the console big brothers!.BUY IT NOW.

If I had bought this game upon release - at which point it would've cost me between £30 and £40 - then I would be giving it a score along the lines of 2 stars, as many people have already; however, for the low price of £15 it holds now, it's well worth a purchase. The story mode - titled "Operations" - will only last a couple of hours on the lowest difficulty, but each of the 10 missions plays like a bitesize rendition of the console CoD missions, which are notorious for their cinematic style. The "Hostiles" mode is a simplified version of the "Survival" mode from MW3, seeing you holding out for as long as possible against waves of enemies. And the multiplayer mode, which acts as the key drawing-in point for many CoD players, remains surprisingly active with players, even if the mode itself is somewhat unremarkable. The game offers a handful of extra hours of gameplay for completionists, granting star ratings for completing Operations on higher difficulties, surviving for longer in Hostiles, and completing training course Time Trials as fast as possible. Multiplayer offers progressional challenges for each of the game's weapons (much like the console counterparts), and Trophy-hunters have a fairly easy list to conquer, primarily comprised of simple tasks to complete in each Operation. There are a few small niggles - I've noticed the occasional visual bug, loading times (particularly in multiplayer) can be sluggish, and the game seems to struggle to distinguish between the knife and grenade commands due to poor touchscreen implementation - but once again, this is well worth a purchase now that it's fallen below half-price.

Every serious Vita owner knows this had a shaky run up to release. After Sony showed early build footage at Gamescom and then showed nothing at all it looked like it had been thrown under the carpet for good reason. Then you got that glint of hope from unofficial videos, not capturing the whole fidelity because every Vita owner knows no matter how good a game looks through a camera, it always looks better on the Vita's screen in your hands.Well this looks beautiful. Everything about the game looks gorgeous from the scenery to the gun and character models and above all else it plays exactly like its console counterparts! Albeit running at a lower framerate but still an amazingly solid and smooth 30fps.Operations serves as the campaign in Declassified and still keeps intact the slow motion door breaching and ciematic set pieces CoD is loved for.Hostiles mode is a survival game type. You must conquer waves after waves of enemies until eventually you die, for those of you who have played MW3 will feel at home as its the Survival mode on the go!Next is the meat of the game and what you will constantly be returning to, Multiplayer. I must say everything is here from leaderboards, custom classes, wide array of weapons and customisation and even prestiging. Although its not 6v6 like console versions, the maps are tweaked perfectly to cater 4v4 teamplay and 8 player Free For All.If you were skeptical like most about this game (and with every right to be) and are still on the fence about a purchase I urge you to buy this game. It offers tremendous replayability and hours of endless fun.

As always there's the COD haters as seen with their pathetic 1 star reviews when in reality a 1 star review should ONLY be given to a game when it doesn't work at all. The whole point of this game was for a good online experience on the Vita that would keep people coming back and it's exactly what the game offers. The only problem is the online mode doesn't always work 100% of the time as matches just don't load and you can be waiting for up to 1 hour to get into a working lobby, however when you do get into one you then seem to get in them fairly quickly and it works perfectly. I was surprised to see how good the connection actually was as there's no noticeable lag at all while playing onlineand if you shoot someone first then you will probably kill them which is the opposite to what happens a lot of the time on PS3 and 360. Overall this game has surprised me with how good it is and I haven't even played offline yet which I personally couldn't care less if there was a 10 hour campaign, 10 minute campaign or no campaign at all as that's not why I and the majority of other people buy Call of Duty games.I would recommend any FPS fan that wants a good online FPS experience on the vita to buy this and hopefully the online matchmaking is fixed soon, keeping in mind this review was written only 2 days after release so it more than likely will be.

What annoys me most about people who review stuff is they are extremely boring and slightly mentally incapable of comprehending simple thing. E.G, the fact that this is a handheld that weighs less than a can of Coke and has the width that of about five 10p coins strapped together. You can't expect too much. Giant powerhouses like PS3's run COD 6v6 online, because it's a bloody big powerful system that doesn't run off a built-in battery, nor does it show the game on a built-in screen. However, this game is really good to say it's on a handheld. The online is 4v4 and the maps are all relatively small but likeable and enjoyable. All your favourite features are here, team deathmatch, free for all, create a class, killstreaks, perks. The campaign I haven't had a good go at but it's good enough to enjoy and has key information if you keep up with the Black OPS franchise.Anyway, at the end of the day, ignore these absolute melts that rate the game 2 stars because they are probably the 12 year olds you find on Black ops on PS3/XBOX with their annoying clown voices threatening to stab and sexually abuse your mum when they probably haven't even had their umbilical cords cut yet.Game is great for online and has good campaign if you're not at home, overall definitely worth the £21.00 or more.Would highly recommend.

Got this game for Chrimbo from my mother in law, could do a joke, oh well, take my mother in law, wish someone would!!PS Vita is a mobile gaming console, therefore on the move which means quick games with lastability.I have the usual Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and the previous PSP. My kids realy have them now but I do have the PSP!!I am a 42 year old man and have been playing games since the ZX81, Electron and Commodore 64.This game is basically a pick up and drop down, the graphics are really good for a handheld and much better than any tablet game, also own one of them. I have no problems getting on line and the short missions are quite challenging I think, yes probably once I complete may get bored but still can play on line, but when you complete any game it gets boring, you go back after a time and play again if you like, if not then just sell. You cannot compare this to an Xbox 360 or PS3 game, as stated this is designed for portability which means short games, overall very happy.Only criticism I do have is the price, compared to console and DS games they do seem overpriced, £19.99 would be fair I think and may help boost sales for a great console but alas without the new games and software support this may die like the Lynx, anyone remember that!!

Ok so I dont normally leave reviews but on this game I had to.I have played all COD games but never on a hand held. I wasnt expecting much based on reviews and if you go into the game expecting a consol game then stop... but this by no means makes it a bad game.We need to remember first that this is a handheld consol witha huge franchise game loved by millions... a handheld consol with COD... WOW.This is a great game, graphics are ok not great but by no means are they bad. TYhe game in itself is brilliant. Great response in regards of Frames Per Second, no blur and plays smoothly. I dont know if Sony have fixed th bugs but I had zero problems with network and multiplayer. From the moment in started playing i was hooked, its just so much fun and although a little steep in price terms a game of this calibre for a handheld consol is just amazing. I dont get much PS3 time in between being a dad and my wife stealing the control so this little piece of COD on my vita fits inito my life perfectly. If you are in doubt rent it first and see for yourself just how good this addition to the vita is.I personally recommend it and other than Assassins Creed Liberation this is my favourite vita game by far.

Critically panned as the worst ps vita game off all time, all the 1 star ratings this game has received would be 3-4 stars if this wasn't a call of duty game. Allthough not as good as killzone mercenary or borderlands 2 this is not the terrible many people believe it is (in my own opinion). The combat is meaty, the guns are loud and there is far more than the 1 hour worth of gameplay I keep hearing about.Instead of a campaign we have operations mode, inspired by MW2S spec ops mode these are 10 mission's between 5-10 minutes in length that are tied together by a narrative in the former of a voice recording in between missions. These mission's are challenging without being frustrating and give thecore call of duty game play we all know and love Allthough in a slightly toned down fashion.Hostile mode see''s you fighting off waves of enemies across 5 maps. This is where I spent most of my game time as this mode is surprisingly addictive.Add on a decent if not outstanding multiplayer mode across 6 maps and 5 time trial missions and you have a pint size call of duty package that's worth your time if like me you are a fan of first person shooter's.

Firstly, I'm going to tell you that I have two small children, a full time job and a house to look after. I have limited time and I'd classify myself as medium in terms of how good I am at playing computer games. Now, with that in mind this game is perfect for the person that wants COD fun, but has limited time to play.CAMPAIGN: small chapters (takes around 5-10 mins each). Not only is your aim to get through the chapters, but to go back at get top rating (you're graded 0-3 stars).TIME TRIAL: how quickly you can get through several obstacle courses determines how many stars you get.SURVIVAL: like Zombies, but fighting soldiers.Lastly, you'll be foolish to think that this will be Black Ops 2 for the Vita. The games is far too big and powerful to be on the Vita. It's a very good game, very enjoyable. I've found that my aim is much better on the Vita, and I'm therefore enjoying it a lot more. You could argue that the price is high, but it's a big franchise. Game is still selling it for £40, so for £26, it's a steal.Buy it, you'll enhoy it

Just thought I should offer a more balanced review than some of the others. The gaming websites have slaughtered this game but when do big vita games get good reviews even uncharted didn't get great reviews and personally thought that was a superb game. This version of cod is disappointing. The campaign is just a short collection of mini missions with no ability to save. Why they didn't just create a regular cod campaign is beyond me. The ai is dumb but the controls aren't bad, the graphics are ok as is the frame rate and at times in can be good fun. Its just annoying as this could have been so much more. The multiplayer is good fun,the maps are small but not so small that you can't have a good match. On the whole I'm still enjoying parts of this game and it is much better than resistance which I thought was a joke. I just wish some developer would get their finger out and create a great shooter for the vita. The vita is primed and ready for a good shooter we just need a developer to step up to the plate.

I was unsure whether to get this game because of the mixture of good and bad reviews. My dad got it for xmas and I played I few games on his VITA on multiplayer and I think it's the best game online on the VITA out so far. The campaign I don't bother with and the 'Hostiles' missions is like Special Ops and that can keep you entertained for quite a while. I have many many games and this is the one that keeps me glued to my VITA!I have Rayman, Metal Gear Solid, Need For Speed, WipeOut, Uncharted 3, and COD is the one I'm always on.The graphics aren't amazing and are not the same as the console version but still a bit further ahead from the ps2 and xbox. There is a couple small glitch's online but haven't had any problems getting in to games. However the 'Party' system on the VITA where you invite friends so you can use voice chat lacks on the VITA currently which means it's hard to get in online games on COD with your mates. That's the worst thing about it - But Sony's fault.4/5 Stars.

Actually a very decent game. Graphically, it's sub par to other cod games and even fellow vita shooter Killzone Mercenary. There are three different single player game modes: Time trials, Hostiles & Operations. In time trials you have to go through 5 different courses as fast as you can. Hostiles mode is a very basic survival game mode, again there are 5 to do. Operations is the game's campaign. There are 10 missions to do which range anywhere from 2 mins to 10 mins in length. Although the missions are short, the game itself is quite hard especially on veteran. There are no checkpoints so if you die, you restart from the start of the mission. The multiplayer is classic cod. So,if you're looking for a fun but challenging FPS to play on the go, I'd highly recommend this.
