Well, ghosts has finally arrived and I can honestly say that I am pleased with the game - I did not expect much whatsoever from it, as not a lot of content was released prior to the launch of the game. That is usually a bad sign of things to come. It arrived on time and in the morning of its release date. I've never had a problem with pre-orders from amazon and thank them kindly.**I don't really want to give away much of the stories plot so I haven't gone into much detail regarding it, don't worry no spoilers.**But! When if arrived this morning I was eager to crack into it and I've been playing non-stop since. Sure the graphics aren't AMAZING per se, but this is call of duty, nobody expected amazing graphics - and frankly, they are in my opinion, we are just too spoiled at the moment with games that we forget that what we are playing looks incredible. The gameplay is smooth, I love the new selection of guns too, and the campaign! Oh, I absolutely loved it! In comparison to the awful battlefield 4 campaign, if was legendary. While you once again cannot talk - the storyline is filled with twists and surprises that you wouldn't expect to happen. It plays absolutely wonderfully and I've only had the game bug out on me once (while I was controlling the dog I for some reason got stuck in an animation loop eating a guys neck - which was quite amusing actually). I have ordered the hardened version, and I am lucky that I got it for £69 - otherwise it would all cost a tremendous amount, considering it has a season pass attached to it. I've actually bought this game for 3 platforms, PC, xbox and the ps4. So far the PC version has taken the lead (simply because the game looks nicer due to the hardware on the PC), but am waiting for the ps4.In the meantime however, I shall be playing this. I much prefer it over battlefield as this game doesn't lie to us. It is an arcade shooter with elements of reality. It does not go out and try to prove its a "realistic combat game" or whatever, it sticks to the core basics of shooters and delivers action and a fun filled adventure of gameplay, and does so in my opinion very successfully. The multiplayer aspect of the game is also still great - it is based heavily on the black ops 2 system and style, however, you can't say that it doesn't work. It's still wonderful and easy to play, and the maps are a refreshing change to the older games as there are some new features. Essentially you start off by creating or joining a squad through xbox live - with your friends or random people; completely up to you, and this forms a team that you can play with together through xbox live. There are some awesome new features and gameplay modes which everyone will enjoy I am sure of it, and you can fight bots through a local match (which I love, it gives you practice for going online and you can get to know the maps really well before hand). The perks are great, the kill streak bonuses are a little bad in comparison to older ones - they don't actually help THAT much, but I guess that's what the point of them is, to help a little bit not enormously like in previous games which actually I think is a good thing. They've also toned down the the gun damage and stuff - so that new players aren't met by people that have been playing for a while and get absolutely obliterated. I know there have been some connectivity issues recently, and I have suffered a little bit from it too, but it's nothing too major and hopefully the severs will be able to accommodate more players soon, as I believe at the time of this review (5th November) the problem is the lack of space, due to the high amount of players. It's faster paced (which is a good and bad thing) and games/matches are relatively short. Some lobbies are still filled with annoying kids or people who scream at you for staying still in an area for longer than 10 seconds and you're then showered with e-abuse by microphone warriors. Although this isn't a massive problem, it is slightly annoying after a bit so I've opted to join servers with microphone chat disabled - it's not really me that gets abused all the time it but as call of duty players know, it's universal chat. While this isn't the best call of duty game I've ever played - I think that goes to modern warfare (the first modern setting COD game), this is certainly up there on the list. I would normally say battlefield wins versus COD, but I cannot say that this time. I see all thee negative review published on amazon and frankly I don't understand them. I have suffered from none of the problems that they appear to be having, however I do have a relatively new xbox 360 (2011 version), and they may be playing it on older platforms. Everything installed perfectly and runs well. The only problem I had was mistyping the codes in properly because they are slightly tricky to read with the silly Q's and D's looking like 0s and O's.Overall I think this game is great. Boy are we all spoiled for choice at the moment with some wonderful titles out, but this and assassins creed 4 are the best in my opinion at this time.A word of advise to all, I suggest purchasing the hardened edition, simply because it contains the season pass and extra maps which cost almost double the price if you were to buy them normally. While this game may not be the best ever made, and it certainly won't win GOTY, it is up there as one of the good/great games of this year. I highly recommend purchasing it if you want to have FUN in a video game. This isn't a super realistic combat warfare game, it's a refreshing, simple and entertaining FPS. It does come with its flaws, but they are minor in comparison to the bulk of the game.EDIT: I've noticed loads of people are rating the game 1/5 - simply because their game did not come on time. While I feel sorry for these people and wish that you had of received the game today, this has nothing to do with the actual game itself! Instead of positing negative reviews on the actual games page, write a support email to amazon where they can assist you with the matter. I know that when I pre-ordered tomb raider and it did not arrive, I wrote to amazon and: I received a voucher and since have never had a problem with delivery since! The support team are extremely helpful and quick to respond with matters like this.

I bought into Ghosts about 3 years too late. At the time of release, I didn't have a gaming PC, and wasn't quite ready to upgrade to a then-next-gen console. I hadn't been very impressed with the previous Infinity Ward release (Modern Warfare 3) so I decided that I'd sit out Ghosts and play Black Ops 2 for another year. Now, 3 years later, I see the error in my ways.I'd originally intended on buying Ghosts Standard Edition and pick up the Season Pass separately to get all of the Extinction maps, but when I saw that the Hardened Edition cost a lot less than buying the standard and season pass, I quickly swayed and bought that instead. It was a good decision too, because installing from discs is a lot faster than downloading, for me anyway.Stuff that comes with it:- Paracord bracelet -It's pretty neat, with a nice Ghosts logo on the middle of it. It's nice and well made, and useful for all the same things that a standard paracord would be.- Steelbook case -Looks very sleek, with a radically different design than the standard COD Ghosts game cover.- Season Pass -I'll go more into what this contains a bit later and my thoughts on them.- Soundtrack -This one was a bit of a bummer. The site that is used to download the soundtrack went down about 12 months ago, making this piece of the package unredeemable as is. However, you can send a message to Activision Support with proof of purchase then they will get it sent out to you within a few hours (from my experience).- Player Patch, Player Card & Player Background -all in-game items that are just there to show that you bought the Hardened Edition. Gets you bragging rights in game, nothing more. (Also, be aware that your player background and your player card are the same thing, so it's a bit cheeky that they are listed as separate items).- Call Of Duty: Ghosts game -hey, it's what you actually came here to buy!The Base Game:- CampaignThe game's story mode is a lot of fun. Some very "WOAH!" moments, where they keep upping the ante to the point of ridiculousness, but it's still a good laugh. Think of it like kicking back and watching a Michael Bay film: there's gonna be a lot of explosions and some pretty good characters, but if you turn your brain off a bit then you're gonna have a good time going through it. The campaign took me just shy of 6 hours to run through on Hardened difficulty so, by the time I've beat it on Veteran and hunted all of the in-game achievements, I expect it'll have taken me maybe 12-15 hours or so. Also, Call Of Duty Dog is a thing, and I love it.- MultiplayerUnfortunately, multiplayer servers on PC aren't as populated as they once were. That being said, I've always managed to get into a populated lobby within a minute of searching, even at non-peak hours such as early afternoon on a weekday.Squads mode is a blast though. Create up to 10 soldiers and have them face off against your friends' squads either on their own, or with your oversight. It's a lot of fun, and can be a great way to get your skills honed in before you jump into multiplayer properly, or a good replacement for multiplayer if you can't get into a match.- ExtinctionI'd describe Extinction as being Ghosts' secret weapon. This mode is so darn fun, it's unbelievable! Imagine Zombies (a-la Black Ops 2) but made a heck of a lot more fast paced, with actual objectives outside of "survive" and an enemy who can be absolutely anywhere - on walls, above you, running straight at you. It's a great deal of fun, and is incredibly replayable due in part to the challenges you are given during each defence being randomised. The added DLC maps bring in a really good story as well. The DLC:- MultiplayerThe multiplayer maps that are included in the DLC packs all feel like natural extensions of the base game maps. They've all got unique themeing, and includes a few remakes of classic maps from the Modern Warfare series (Dome from MW3 and Shipment from COD4, to name a couple). The maps are good fun, in my opinion, but finding multiplayer matches on them can sometimes be a pain.- ExtinctionThe Extinction DLC maps are definitely why you should buy the season pass. They're very fun, and later maps change up the gameplay from the base Extinction maps a fair amount, which is always welcome.Final Thoughts:If you're buying Ghosts in 2017 or later, don't expect to find a great deal of multiplayer games, but don't let that deter you from buying this game. The campaign is a fun little excursion, and Extinction is a damn good horde-attack mode that will take hours before you're even close to being bored of it.I give this a 7/10 as a solo/co-op player, but I would drop it down to a 6/10 if you're hardcore into competitive multiplayer and would advise you find another game to get your COD MP fix in (I would recommend Infinite Warfare or, when it releases, Call of Duty WWII).

Firstly, no my game didn't turn up either. I ordered at the start of August and Amazon had 3 months to get the game to me on time. They failed. It still hasn't turned up. Absolutely appalling.I have however now purchased the game elsewhere (just as well really) and, having played it for a couple of days, I can actually review it instead of Amazon's disgrace.Let me start by saying I loved Modern Warfare 3, and especially the multiplayer aspects. Yes, it had issues. But the maps were great in the most part and Infinity Ward proved beyond doubt that they were the Kings of the COD series. The disappointing Black Ops 2 that followed it was clunky, looked like it had been coloured in by a child, had poor multiplayer guns, and was much too linear and disappointing. This game however is a reinvention, and a definite return to form. The single player campaign is still cinematic, and linear of course, but less noticeably. The set pieces are grander than ever and the whole thing plays along as if you were in a movie, especially towards the end, which I shan't spoil, but shall say is brilliant. You get to play as the much touted dog during the start of the game too; I would have liked to have seen this used throughout the plot a little bit more as it is very effective.Multiplayer wise all of the usual modes are there (with Search and Destroy being replaced by a new mode, Search and Rescue - like S&D but with aspects of kill confirmed added) but the whole thing has had an overhaul. You no longer unlock guns - you use squad points accrued during the games - to effectively buy them. Similarly, the perks (you can have much more of these than the standard 4 if you sacrifice your secondary weapons) can be bought earlier than they're unlocked, all meaning you can get the load out you want sooner in the game, if you've got the points to pay for them of course! Another addition is that now you can have multiple soldiers all with different skill sets. These come into their own using the new Squads mode, played against bots in part, whereby the soldiers you create fight alongside you. You do gain XP this way but the whole thing is a little daunting coming from the simplicity of MW3/BLOPS2. And I'm sure it's something we'll all get used to over time. The new MP maps are also excellent although they do take some time to get used to because they're both huge (and can seem a bit empty therefore), and complicated. There are now several routes around and through the maps, some of which change dynamically as the game goes on, albeit in a much less grander way than Battlefield. This makes for epic encounters, plenty of getting shot in the back but plenty of opportunity to be tactical. It should also reduce the amount of "camping" that takes place; very few map spots have those sort of dark secure corners that campers love. Anyone camping will soon be shot, one way or another. Though, that said, with the game in it's infancy, there is still a bit of it about. On the downside to multiplayer, if you were hoping to see the end of quickscoping then you're in for disappointment. The sniper rifles seem overpowered and quicker to aim than ever. Similarly, dropshotting is rife. Levelling up also is much, much slower than in previous games, making the game a much more challenging proposition, even for experienced players. The guns are fine, a total refresh from previous titles, and I find most weapons and classes are well balanced and effective. The game feels like MW3 in that movement is smooth and uninhibited and netcode issues are few and far between; most lobbies are stable and shot registration seems even and sound.Lastly, to replace the "Zombies" mode of previous titles there is Extinction; a similar principle but with aliens replacing the undead. They have added a levelling-up aspect to this mode too, which should make it much more replayable than zombies ever was.All in all then I think this is an excellent refresh of the series. The single player is pretty standard fare, with the set pieces being grander than ever and a fine, plot driven, slightly short storyline that keeps you ploughing through it. Multiplayer wise however, this really is excellent and enjoyable, if not tricky to master and thanks to some fellow players, infuriating. 4 stars for the game and all of it's modes. As a postscript; If I could give negative stars for absolutely appalling delivery time and customer service I would, believe me. The very last of the pre-orders I shall be making here.

Its hard to keep stimulating the human brain with the same thing over and over...so each year the next cod ups there dosage...or at least tries.I will break the online review down in a total of three perspectives to appeal to all that play cod , Of course concluding with a overall rating. The noob review. Finally giving in to all the hype and wanna pick this game up?Well expect good and bad things.First off , this far down in the history of cod ...You jumping in now will no doubt be very over whelming. The style of play and endless tweaking of perks , Killstreaks , menus and ( Ahem )MLG wannabee players ,may deter you from persuing a online career with cod.Not forgetting to expect the verbal abuse you will receive because the opposing player/s don't agree with your play method.(Don't forget to mute these sons of be arches)This game has a learning curve...and quite frankly its how quick you can raise your gun and press shoot the quickest and the main goal is to learn the maps and spawns in parrot fashion so you can create a s*** storm and brag to your mates about the high killstreaks you unleashed on the less educated cod players. This is what attracts a player and you try to re inact this over and over for countless hours , This of course is part of the fun and I myself fit nicely in this bracket , having spent many hours/Days/weeks on cod.So is this the game for you? I would recommend giving the francise a try its great fun and in hindsight, my first year of cod was the best. So why not start here with ghosts. Now for my second part reviewThe veteranLets be honest if you know cod you wanna know is it better than black ops 2?Yes it is from a personal point of view.Hit detection is top notch and you seem to win gunfights respectively .I also like the map designs I am really enjoying learning and exploring , My favourite right now ...erm I forget the name but lets just call it jungle 2 a sequel to the black ops map. Stonehaven is a great map tooHaving said that as much as I like the maps , Most maps have plenty of choke points , big in size and camp spots everywhere. But different game modes utilise the players preference to play style .UAV spamming is nearly gone but the sat con has replaced it and you are forever hearing them being used , its inferior but more annoying.Killstreaks in general are not over powered and air support is not as aggressive as its predecessors .Some new entries which are really good, Support is nerfed and with all the perks for specialist it looks like that will be the way to go further down the line. The gambler perk is great it only costs one squad point and can randomly give you a heavy perk at a spawn.Squad points are what are used to buy equipment and perks.Oh and forget trying to prestige in a weekend it takes forever to level up..again to me is a advantage rather than a negative .So with that in mind ..yes its the same old cod but with the new game modes and the let down of black ops 2 online I would recommend getting it.Final overall online review.Just for a second lets imagine there was no cod no online to ever exist.Treat this as a stand alone game..we often always compare cod to its early years. This is probably the problemwith high expectations we expect some out of this world experience with the latest instalment , but ask yourself this what more could they really do with it? its a war game with guns .Too many changes and its not a cod game.Lets treat cod ghosts as a stand alone game. Its pretty damn good and hella lot of fun.I will give it five stars as a stand alone online game..but because of the memory of previous cods I will give it a four.

One of the most anticipated games found its way to our consoles after a long pre launch period with increased hype. I am the kind of the player who tends to play campaign modes first having small bites in multiplayer rather than the opposite. The reason? Honestly , I don t know. One can be that I do suck among the best in first person shooters in multiplayer modes so the obvious path for me is to be ready practicing in campaign; other might be that I am the kind of the gamer who love animated scenes in an interesting storyline in which you can interact with your actions and change the route of it.I won t give you any spoilers in the review, nor I would keep the main headline of the storyline hidden. You fight as a South American against the brutality and the tyranny of the US superpower! Sounds good? Maybe it does, but it ain' t the truth. As you expect you fight as a US soldier against a South American Federation which wants to take over the US. For what reason you might think; I m really sorry but I don t know either.Besides the storyline which reach the limits of a silly propaganda, developers decided that it would be a great move to remove all the interaction you might have with the game changing the plot. This way the storyline has only one route for you to take without compromising though any from the fundamentals of a fast and well designed environment. The graphics and the sound remain astonished, can t wait to get my hands on the PS4 version since those games were mostly designed and developed having in mind new generation consoles rather than old ones. The environment looks impressive, the space and the underwater raise the the standards in fps games. Combats have no delay at all, frames are 60 per second and adrenaline during the game reach the highest level! Tactical Audio engine delivers an amazing sound result which you can fully enjoy once you turn on your home cinema.Gameplay is fluid and won t disappoint you keeping the fundamentals that made you love the series adding some dynamism to the maps although with less impact than in BF 4. AI still isn't perfect since your teammates in the campaign sometimes act without you ever exist standing in front of your gunfire, but your beloved dog will be an amazing partner in battle (at least for the early stages of the game). The multiplayer stands competitive against BF 4 multiplayer which I also love, still keeping the crown for close counters battles. You won't found the huge greatly dynamic maps in COD Ghosts, but you will enjoy like nothing the close combats and the fast paced action! If you love this kind of fps games, this is definitely for you. You will also find co-op mode a great addition which will increase the life cycle of your gameplay with Ghosts.PROS:+ Graphics & sound+ Multiplayer and co-opCONS:- Campaign storyline- Less dynamic environmentsOVERALL:COD series are unique in close combat style battles and there is no argue in that. I trully believe that when you have an amazing fps game you have to try new and risky things in order to take it to the next level and survive in the competition. COD Ghosts is not one of these games, since they try to build on their success by not risking messing with things that BF series excel (use vehicles for example) and for that reason I give it a 4/5. Still, its a nice game that won t disappoint the fans of the series keeping the adrenaline in high levels!

I haven't owned an HD FPS game before because I had a Wii, and recently upgraded to Wii U, so I was completely blown away by the quality of the graphics. Full 1080p HD, and it runs at a beautiful 60 frames per second, and is visibly better than the Xbox 360s and PS3s I've played on before. The facial graphics have also taken a significant step up from previous games, appearing way more realistic than BO2 or any other CoD game. Now I'm going to split this review into 3 parts.Campaign: The storyline for this campaign is that South America united under one banner, called The Federation, and invaded North America. You play the character Logan Walker as you join an elite group of soldiers and fight to regain control of America.i think that this storyline is better than most other CoDs, with an elegant story and cut scenes in the loading screen that further explains the story with amazing animations. You also get to fight underwater and in space as you fight to regain control of a space-based weapon hijacked by the Federation. Even with all this, I think this campaign, whilst very good, was slightly surpassed by that of BO2.Multiplayer and Squads: The multiplayer on this game offers engaging combat, exiting new modes, maps that you can reshape slightly with explosives, and an incredible system for Create a Class. Similar to Create a Class on BO2, this gives you an amount of slots that you can use to choose your loadout. A primary weapon takes up one slot, a secondary takes up one, a lethal explosive takes up one, a non-lethal explosive takes up one, and each perk point takes up one. To maximize the amount of perks you can buy, you can forgo a any of the slot-takers mentioned above. The better perks cost more points than worse perks. Similar to BO1, you earn money to buy new weapons with, except this currency is called squad points, earned by leveling up, completing operations etc. I love this system, because it gives me the freedom to choose exactly the loadout I want, not have ironbound restrictions like other CoD games. The new mode called squads is also fun, allowing you to create up to ten soldiers with customized classes to use against others custom squads.Extinction: Extinction is another new mode, and is InfinityWard's answer to all of the pleas for them to have a mode Treyarch's zombies mode, and this is pretty good, setting you in a world overrun by aliens, and your job is to destroy fourteen alien "hives" before arming a nuke and running back to the chopper. All this time, you are under attack by increasingly difficult aliens. You earn cash in-game cash to buy better weapons and supplies with by killing aliens. This is a nice answer to the zombies pleas, but isn't quite as good. All in all, I think that this is the best CoD game to date, even if the campaign and extra modes don't quite match BO2's, it more than makes up for it with incredible multiplayer combat and Create a Class systems. you shouldn't hesitate to buy this game.

I'm half way through the single player campaign which has taken about three hours. It's what you'd expect for this genre but this version of COD is quite enjoyable with the dog as a companion in some parts. There's the usual set pieces; defend a place from attack, sneak around a bit, fly a helicopter. Fairly standard stuff for COD but is as enjoyable to play as MW2 (haven't thought much of single player CODs since MW2!).Graphics and sounds are quite stunning but there are the occasional lags as if it's a bit too much for the current xbox. Overall it's 9/10.So, the multiplayer. This is why people buy it. I should point out that I played Black Ops but skipped MW3 and BO2,so I get to look at this version of the multiplayer from a slight different viewpoint compared to those that have played all versions to multiple prestige levels. However, there are good and bad points about the game.Good points:+Gone are gun challenges, kill streak challenges and, well, all challenges that generate XP to help you move up a level. This removes what I've always considered nonsense.+Everything is potentially available to you at the start. By playing you get points that you can buy guns, attachments and perks.+Killstreaks are either offensive or defensive. The latter doesn't reset if you're killed. I've not noticed any yet that are overpowered and most of them are don't really do that much to give any significant advantage in the game.+Good range of guns and attachments.Prestiges are gone. Now you have 10 characters that have a maximum level. This is good as it allows you to always have a character with everything unlocked rather than having to reset everything upon prestiging.+The biggest pro for me is that if you get sick of playing against people who just want to sit in a corner!, you can play TDM against AI characters. This is an enjoyable mode to play, and you can still rank up and gain points as you would normally. The maps are beautiful looking. They'll look impressive on the next generation consoles...However...Bad points:-Map layout combined with the respawning system means (for me) that almost all my deaths are from behind. Respawning is random and an enemy can appear very near you. This is something that could be fixed. The map layout is extremely complex with multiple floor levels, windows, balconies as well as large open areas, which means if you like running around the map, you'll quickly get killed from someone sitting in a window.-The loss of some game types like search and destroy, ground war. Something that can be re-included at a later date.Given that in the last two months I've been playing MW1 and MW2, I feel that "Ghost" will keep me interested up to my first character getting to the max level. The content of patches will determine whether I will play beyond that or go back to earlier CODs!Overall 7/10(as a side note: Amazon's delivery is 1/10 for not receiving this on release day! Wont be pre-ordering again.)

Okay, so a lot of people were upset with this new instalment to the Call of Duty franchise. I really like this CoD and feel that a lot of people have maybe misjudged this game slightly... I mean, it's a Call of Duty game... Did they honestly expect it to be completely different from any other cod game?Part of the problem here is that Black Ops II was the biggest (and for some) the best CoD to date. This is fair, because it was geared towards casual gamers. Not that that's a bad thing though, I loved that my friends who weren't so awesome at the game could still pick up a controller and enjoy a few matches. But, Ghosts requires pin-point accuracy with your aiming: Your bullets go exactly where you are pointing at them to go.This is the case with most fps game but in previous installations of the CoD series there has been a very generous guidance system with the hit detection. This, added with the fact that only 2 or 3 bullets (to a players head) can kill them makes it a hard game to get into if you are used to spraying lots of bullets in a players direction. It should be noted here that in an update, they added a new game mode called Heavy Duty and it gives players more health (Just as much as BlackOpsII).The maps are good for the most part, with only one or two that I didn't really like. The maps can be quite large at times and this is something else that people hated but I really enjoy. There are more options and directions to navigate around the maps and this keeps you on edge as danger could happen anywhere. And for anyone who says you always spawn in too far away, it literally likes 5 to 10 seconds to run in the direction of where the shooting is. (Which is indicated with visual ques like Skulls on the map where people are dying, and people show up on the map when they are firing their weapon)The guns are one of the best things about this CoD. I didn't think this at first, as I wasn't too interested in the selection of guns... nothing was really grabbing me. But after some time now testing out most of the guns; each gun feels and responds differently and once you find out what works for you, its always fun trying out new weapon types and attachment combinations. The weapons also helped me really appreciate the sound design in this game, as when you are out in the open or in a small corridor the sound of your gun and even the ricocheting change depending on where you are. And that is just cool.Call of Duty Ghosts is not without its flaws, sure, but it is still a really damn good game. I am saying this as a fan of Call of Duty though, not someone who's only played one or two titles, but someone who's loved the series for many years. If you take this game seriously then you might be set up for some disappointment. But, if you are like me and just want a game to play with your mates that is all about shooting s*** and having fun, then you may just enjoy this game.

Firstly I'd like to say that I don't write many reviews, let alone reviews for COD games. I also have played every single Call of Duty game Since Call of Duty 3 and although I always find something to like in the single player side to the games, I have been increasingly disheartened with the series' multiplayer aspect. For me, COD 4 and Black Ops were the best... And Ghosts is quickly becoming a favourite.I'm more of a story-driven gamer rather than an online guy, so bearing that in mind too I have been really quite surprised at how much fun I've had with this game online. The maps are fun, varied and interesting, the weapons are meaty and pack real punch... It feels satisfying when you get a kill...Something I haven't really felt for a while, even with the original Black Ops to some extent. There are lots more customisation options by means of character (female soldiers was nice to see) and loadouts, and the playlists are fun and diverse. One big thing that I have noticed and appreciate is that map sizes are bigger and it feels like there are less players, which means you have to do some hunting for enemy players (and you also get a fighting chance of fending for yourself). I read a lot of complaints about map size before purchasing which cast some doubt, but I have to say I totally disagree with these complaints personally! It means you actually get to look around and explore, without constantly dying, and also without losing the frantic COD online experience, as you will inevitably find someone, or be found, before too long. The extinction mode is also very good. I already prefer it to Zombies, which got way too complicated and inaccessible for me. Fighting aliens is a cool new concept and teamwork is required, but it is very satisfying to do well in, and the class system is rewarding.Upon writing this I have only played a few levels of the campaign (purely because the multiplayer has me gripped at the moment), however the levels have been enjoyable and the power of Xbox One provides some really impressive visuals, even with the game running at a lower frame rate than other next-gen shooters *cough battlefield cough*.I've found myself genuinely enjoying this game online and not just getting frustrated with it as I have with several COD titles in the last half decade, which I guess led me to write this review. If you're deliberating getting this because you're not sure whether its worth spending money on but still want to see for yourself, definitely give it a chance!!

When a game premiers and you're looking at the prospect of investing £40.00 quid on something that may or may not live up to the price tag, gamers and reviewers alike have the right to be cautious. However, when you can pick the same thing up used for less than the postage, nobody has anything to complain about.Buy the damn thing. That's really all there is, meaningful, to say.Though short – I think Ghosts campaign clocks up around 6 hours – those 6 hours are packed with plenty of gun blazing boo-yah! and visual spectacle by the bucket. You do the Moonraker space battle thing, only it looks seriously good. There's a bit where you have to egress a collapsing building that's splitting in two,a la Transformers: Dark Side of The Moon. An underwater battle scene that could be lifted straight from Thunderball, a blazing gun-fight across the top of a speeding train. Strongholds to infiltrate worthy of any Bond villains lair a-plenty. Plus. You get to drive a bitey dog...I found no downside to call of Duty: Ghosts - aside from not being able to get the dog to poop in the path of enemies so as they have to step in it and then go through all the rigmarole of trying to get it off their boot - how could anyone not put that in a game with a bitey, remote controlled dog in it? That's just seriously taking they eye off the dogs chewy-ball...Combat has the fluid ease you come to expect from the COD franchise, the story is jingoism personified - oh those poor, down trodden Americans who never climb up the pipes of anyone, surrounded on all sides by so many who seek to invade America simply for the sake of teaching them an important life-lesson about playing nice-with-others....Though the story's appended to these things – and they are pretty much stapled on just to justify whatever level you're playing – Ghosts (fortunately) isn't a universal primer on how right America is and how very wrong everyone else is. Even though (story-wise) it is, just a hell of a lot.Think of instead as a Michael Bay movie you can actively take part in and – rampant nationalism aside – you can rip through it perfectly happily. The levels are fun. Though large they're balanced enough to allow you to enjoy each section without wanting to throw your controller at the TV in sheer frustration too often, there's also plenty of other stuff to throw yourself into on the disc as well, including Squads and Extinction. At less than the price of the postage to send it – what are you waiting for? Buy it.

Here's the thing, I don't get why everyone is complaining. The developers have actually listened to people and made a completely new CoD game. I;m about halfway through the campaign and have yet to try multiplayer and so far it is amazing. The graphics are beautiful, the storyline is absorbing, and the gameplay overall is fantastic. People complain that it is too different, yet they would've complained if another Modern Warfare had been brought out. You just cannot please some people.Of course it is going to be different controls. It's a different game. You get used to it. So I say stop moaning about little things. it's stupid. And there is also the new DLC that will contain new maps to come out through the year which I am sure will contain smaller maps for multiplayer so stop getting your knickers in a twist.I am also yet to try squads but that looks like something new and exciting and I am just as eager to try it out as I am extinction and multiplayer. (I try to complete campaign before anything else, it's my thing)I pre-ordered the hardened edition. I would have got it on release day but royal mail are stupid and just put it through to the depot so I had to get it the day after. The paracord strap you get with it is cool and fun and looks great when you wear it. The steel book is great. It also comes with the season pass which is great value. I haven't yet listened to the soundtrack but I am sure it will be great because the music from CoD is always great to listen to.The missions in campaign mode are amazing. they bring you right into the game which is what they are supposed to do. I can't wait to finish it and I think it is one of those campaign modes that I will go back and play again which is something I very rarely do. I am also still to try out extinction but having watched different youtubers play it I am sure it will be fantastic. A nice break from Zombies which I found to be getting a little tiresome.Overall, this game is magnificent. I am happy I purchased the game, unlike most people out there who moan because the developers listened to them and made a different game with a different feel to it in order to keep things fresh and new. I say well done and I can't wait to get stuck in to all the game modes. Got a good few hours to spend on this game and I doubt I will regret any of it.

I've played on local games and local multiplayer versus AI bots even on veteran difficulty and also playing squads. Yes the game is difficult and yes the AI is so good it can be very frustrating. Squads is where the game really shines, build your squad, customize everything about them and bring them into battle. The DLC maps are so much better than most of the regular maps. These are some of the smartest AI bots I've fought against in a game. Playing Modern Warfare remastered while a great game your gun choices, perk choices and options are very limited. IMO the multiplayer and squad aspect of team deathmath, free for all, etc blows those idiotic AI bots in black ops 3 right out of the water.I skipped the campaign portion of this game.As for the DLC? choose your DLC carefully, some is worth it, some is not. The standout dlc maps are Bayview, Fog,Ignition,Unearthed, Collision, Departed (for sure maybe even one of the best dlc maps) I think maybe people disliked this game because of the difficult aspect of it and the low TTK timing. I've been shot and killed so many times without even be able to get off a shot back or even turn around. This game is notorious and infamous for getting shot in the back I kid you not I think it might even be programmed into the game that when you fire off shots or kill an enemy the AI comes to your exact location ASAP right up behind you, shoot you in the back and kill you without you ever even hearing them. (which is why the amplify perks is so important)Keep in mind the AI bots hear everything even from across the map you'd think you were an elephant to them, so dead silence as well. It's just too bad you can't turn off the dam music, if the could patch that? that would be fantastic. The other reason I think people may not like the game especially versus the AI is the AI has X ray vision can shoot and kill you without actual line of sight (like seeing thru walls or cover that you can't. The AI can spot you, even if you can't spot them.I can't write a review about online gameplay with ghosts since I haven't played any of the cod titles online only local/lan. FFA with 17 bots is just total fun insanity. Its also extremely fun to try and find the best combinations of loadouts, perks, etc it really is a lot of trial and error and different combos for different maps.

I only played a bit of black ops one before this so can't say i'm a cod vet but after 100 hours+ playtime on ghosts from release i know enough about this game. The key changes are guns kill quicker and maps are bigger, this means good movement is key as you can't turn on a player if they see you first but you don't have to worry about it happening to you either, this rewards good map awareness and intelligent moving, however, gun skill is still critical in 1v1's. I really haven't noticed as many people camping as its made out, and its very unrewarding to do it as the maps are so big.The guns are very well balanced as well, the m-tar smg and remington r-5 AR stood out eventually but this took time to establish, and balances to the vector and bizon have brought them into new light as well, pro's still opt for other guns as well such as an LMG i forget the name of.The perk system is great, each perk costs points and you can pick from a large range in any combination. Killstreaks are also better in my opinion, I worked up a KD of 2.8 on black ops and regularly used chopper gunners and dogs etc, but i always found being on the receiving end much more frustrating than the reward from getting them. Killstreaks now require skill to use them effectively and are far from overpowered. The game is also well made and crisp, the animations e.g knifing and sound effects are very realistic and the maps are exceptionally detailed. I enjoyed running through the campaign, the story was average but the game play was great. however i have stuck mostly with mulitplayer.I do miss theater mode, this was a great way to watch over your all time best games a good way to observe yourself and improve. A better competitive system for casual players would also be nice such as master division etc, but gamebattles are still there and thriving. I also miss point per minute leaderboards and weekly leaderboards from blops 1.Over all i think its a great game, but with a steeper learning curve than before as the maps are more complex with different routes rather than the standard 3 lanes. The excellent bot system can help you prepare for this without getting destroyed online. I have played this game almost exclusively since launch bar a couple of weeks I played some halo's for and I see myself continuing this for some time!

This is a single player and squads review. It's tradition that I buy an Infinity Ward Call of Duty game, insert the disc, stick the difficulty on Veteran and slug it out with AImbots, so I can't really pass up on it. Especially when there are a limited number of early adopters in the clan at this stage and there are slim pickings to be had on the new online platform. At any rate, the campaign opens with its usual bombast; apocalyptic earthquakes, flying trucks, space combat. All quite cinematic - it's often more entertaining to watch a COD game than to actually play it (especially on Veteran difficulty). The synopsis outlines a post-oil world where the new world order (The Federation)has taken over most of South America, and encroaches on the good old U.S. of A. Naturally, you play as US soldier Logen, brother of soldier Keegan, and son of a general, Elias, out to stop the Ghost-hunter hyper-machismo target, Rorke. As far as the story goes, it's a normal COD Revenge Flick, which, as usual, proceeds to overcomplicate itself in an effort to block out any comprehension of its flaws.Essentially, people are tiring of COD because the game's producers trip over themselves to produce a blockbuster plot worthy of the series' sales. Why they don't just rip off the 80s TV action series, the A-Team is beyond me. At least their plots had a beginning a middle and a definite end. Anyway, it is worth pointing out that yes, there is a huge German Shepherd with robotic intelligence, and yes, you get to control an Apache, and yes indeed ... the campaign is much of a muchness, with its set-pieces et al. Yet, it's still enjoyable. The graphics, while functional, are pretty dated now. I've seen better particle effects on the 360, if I'm honest. But, it does go a long way to engage you and even though there are re-used assets in there, they are re-used very well.OK, that's a bit patronising, but it's COD; the producers are patronising gamers in the first place, yet we ignore it. Apart from the campaign, Squads mode is actually good fun and provides an excellent facsimile of actual multiplayer (without the abusive children) so I can recommend this mode, as well as this game. You know ... because everybody you know will buy it, regardless of how good it actually is.Overall, a solid 4/5.
