I am a long time FIFA fan, having played since around '03, and I can honestly say the games get better every year. Bought this year's offering hoping for a few tweaks and improvements, and of course the mandatory player, kit and graphical updates, but I was pleasantly surprised by the minor changes to gameplay. One thing that I believe previous FIFA's have got wrong, is the sheer reliance on fast players to get forward and score goals. While pace is certainly a useful skill in real-life football, it is not the only important aspect of the game, and FIFA 13 finally represents this correctly. A lethal through-ball, or some nice one-two passing, can now take apart a defence just as easily as sending Walcott up the pitch would have in the last game. This is not to say that defending is harder or less effective however, as it remains pretty much the same, a good defensive FIFA player will still be able to stop the attacker in his tracks.Another minor tweak to gameplay is the much lauded first-touch system, whereby players will knock the ball slightly ahead of themselves upon receiving it. This is again a more realistic feature; players can no longer take a pass like they have glue all over their boots, and consequently can be easier to tackle. This new addition has been criticised for that reason, but it affects everybody the same and adds a new dimension to the experience. Passing in general has improved slightly, but the game will still occasionally mess up and pass to the wrong player (a pet peeve in FIFA 12), which does disrupt gameplay. Shooting is still fantastic, as finesse shots are slightly less over-powered than previously, but it is still relatively easy to score fantastic goals. Crossing sees a welcomed return to the FIFA 11 system, albeit a tweaked version. In FIFA 12, it was very difficult to cross successfully, as it was tricky to judge precise direction and power. The FIFA 11, and now 13, system was and is much easier, and works very similarly to the regular passing system. The actual game modes have also seen some improvements, especially my personal favourite mode, Ultimate Team. UT has had something if an overhaul, now featuring a `season' mode identical to that of the regular game (the online one rather than the career), and obviously has also been visually upgraded, with new menus etc. Single player careers now offer the option for international management positions, and increased depth, and the `be a Pro' and `be a Goalkeeper' modes remain robust and enjoyable. The `arena' loading screen before matches also now includes `skill games', mini challenges which are far more entertaining than just shooting at a goal.Only two gripes about the game: Firstly, for some reason EA have removed the ability to play single matches on Ultimate Team, which I often played on FIFA 12 to rest my first XI, a minor annoyance only, but a needless one. Secondly, and vastly more annoyingly, the EA servers are still embarrassingly terrible. Every year they promise to improve them, and every year they remain terrible, averaging at least one disconnection a day for me and my friends. That is my main complaint, but it only detracts slightly from the overall experience. In regards to Amazon-specific details, The Ultimate Edition pre-order features an Ultimate Team Gold Pack unlock (One per week for a set number of weeks), which I imagine will assist players in building their squads, and my delivery was prompt, arriving as expected on release day. I would highly recommend Amazon as a vendor for any item, as they have never let me down.Final Score:9/10 (Or Five Stars in Amazon terms)A great game with some minor flaws, FIFA improves on previous editions and delivers its usual brilliant gameplay. A stellar sporting simulator.

I ordered this product on September 2nd with the delivery option to receive on the day it is released, I haven't had my product today [and I doubt the royal mail will deliver at this time]. I am very unhappy with that as I paid good money for it to be here today.Saying that I bought the EA Online Pass for FIFA 13 so I have played the game for a week so I can comment on the games features.Firstly the menu I feel is a lot better, instead of loading you into an arena you are on the menu where I would want to be.The new features are mainly the Skill Games, which I will get to later, the First-Touch control and the EAS FC Catalogue. The new Skill Games are a great addition to the game as it helps you get familiar with the game and teaches you how to do various things e.g Passing,Dribbling and Free Kicks. They increase in difficulty with each stage so for passing it starts with short passing to 8 people and then advances to opposition being in the way of your pass. So for beginners it is great to get to know the game. But also for seasoned FIFA players there is the points aspect and a leaderboard to show off how good you are.Secondly the First Touch aspect in gameplay I think is another great addition (if not frustrating at first). Instead of perfect touches when the ball is volleyed clear and hits someone in the chest, the ball will now fly off them, also you can no longer 'Ride the RT/R2' you will have to let go of your favourite button to receive the ball, at first it is frustrating but you can use it to your advantage with fancy first touches. All in all a fine addition to the game. Finally the EAS FC Catalogue. This is where your hours of gameplay are rewarded. You will noticed you have an EAS FC level on the bottom right of your screen (in the game menu) now each time you get EXP to level up you will be awarded FCC which are Football Club Credits (I think). You can spend these credits from simple things like Retro Kits to Virtual Pro Boosts and FUT Coins. I feel this is a nice reward to play time rather than just achievements.I haven't mentioned FUT because it is really the same except for the menu which has been revamped and looks great.Career is also slightly different but still in essence the same. And Pro Clubs has changed too, mainly into divisions not just so the amount of played time means your #1 club. 3points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. All in all I think it is a great FIFA game and worth a buy, if you enjoy the FIFA franchise you will love this.Just a pity mine didn't come on time,Thanks.

one thing that is rubbish is the fact that you cant counter attack by sprinting! my game was and has always been quick players on the wings to sprint past slow defenders and hit an early cross. now fifa have decided to force you to play the passing game which i was never great at, dont get me wrong i can do it, but thats all you can do. if a defender makes a mistake and your player has 90 acceleration and the defender 68 acceleration the defender will always claw you back and make the tackle wtf is that all about?! for example ronaldo left carragher for dust he was 10m in from or so and carragher came back (some how) to tackle him no matter what skill i did.mistakes mean nothing in defence cause the defender will always get there. it takes the point out of buying quick players unless you only play online which human error makes it like other fifa games. first touch is good but defending is crap. amateur = semi pro, semi pro = pro, pro= world class, world class = legendary & legendary = no point...fifa 14 will just be a ball, no compute game just a ball, and EA will just tell us to go to the nearest park and play.... i would give it 3 stars too (amazon not letting me give feedbackon another topic EA servers are still slow, outdated and i have had tonnes of problems with them in the last 24 hours.bar all what i have said it is a good game, abit of a step back from last years edition, however manager mode is great you get to take more control and the EA points /exp thing is great. you earn exp points that you can spend on all kinds of good stuff like multipliers for ultimate team, celebrations, vinatge kits, boots, balls and other goodies... the ultimate edition gives you 10000 of these points to give you a head start so thats good, not to mention the fact you get free 6 packs at the starts of the FUT. Coins on FUT are alot easier to come by this year meaning that you can buy better players that is if someone is stupid to sell messi or ronaldo (lol). still its easier to play FUT this year, bar the above comment that is.i have played fifa for a while and i am good at it, can hold my own, however i cant help but feel that there is just something missing from fifa 13 that fifa 12 had...

I can't understand why this game only averages 2 stars, yet FIFA Football gets 5 starts, because basically, the two games are exactly the same! There's no question that customers have been ripped off by EA Sports with this latest edition of FIFA, but the purpose of these reviews is to review the game, it's not a platform to protest against the company by awarding it one star. Therefore I give the game 5 stars, and EA Sports 1 star! The problem here is that when the Vita was launched, EA Sports had already developed FIFA 13, but because the Vita was launched before the release date of FIFA 13, EA decided to release the game as "FIFA Football". They should have left it at that until FIFA 14,but no, with extra £££'s in their sights, they repackaged FIFA Football and re-released it as FIFA 13, charging the same amount and ripping off customers who already own FIFA Football. Very naughty of them, and I wouldn't be surprised if this comes back to haunt them in a few months time when FIFA 14 is released.Having said all that, this is still a very good game on the Vita. I own the Vita version, and the PS3 version. Although the PS3 version looks prettier, has more features etc., I think the Vita version plays a more balanced and realistic game of football. I don't know what it is, but the bridge between skill levels is not as extreme as the PS3 version where amateur was ridiculously easy, and professional was too hard (for me anyway) On the Vita, I find the pro level is just the right balance for winning a few, losing a few, which keeps me interested in playing for longer. Players move and pass the ball around in a realistic fashion, whereas on the PS3, players pass the ball back and forwards like a pinball machine! Overall, it's a very good game to pick up and play for a quick 10 minute fix. I only hope we see a vast improvement in FIFA 14 to make up for this years rip off. I thnk the least EA can do is charge £25 for the next version. I got this for £16, if I'd paid £45, I would have been VERY upset!

The PS2 is for kids and occasional players these days as I imagine all the hardcore gamers have more up to date consoles, so I suppose most of us already expect or don't mind that this game has all the usual pros and cons. If you're playing against the PS2,there's no improvement on Fifa 11 in the graphics, cut scenes, menus, most likenesses or animation, but they've managed to tweak the gameplay enough so that it feels more competetive than it did.Dribbling's easier and more realistic, too, which helps make it feel worth buying. They've also cut out the anomaly of playing an FA Cup game on the same day as a Premiership match. On the down side,it's more obvious when the PS2 takes over control, usually if a defeat is pre-programmed, but not exclusively.Your players slow right down and start making really stupid passes, which is disappointing, but even so it's still way more subtle than PES. The financial side is slightly more realistic, too, but it's still too easy to build a team of the world's best players.Still plenty of pointless messages about "a crushing defeat" after grinding out a 1-0 win,or "fans overjoyed at surprise victory" after you beat Aldershot 5 - 0.I don't know why they persist with these as they are just pointless and slightly irritating, but easy enough to skip past.Otherwise, not much new besides mostly, but not entirely,up to date squads.I always mute the music, commentary and sound effects so can't say whether they're better or worse, but it's still an entertaining way to pass half an hour or so.UPDATE:I was wrong about the FA Cup games - they are still on the same day as club matches.

Bought the Ultimate edition as a late adopter of the brilliant "fifa Ultimate Team" mode. 24 gold packs (one per week) effortlessly pop into my account helping my Hartlepool Utd on to the promise of world greatness. Only to be let down by this players inept attempts to compete with the online experts. The game is as expected. The same as always with welcome tweaks, upgrades and layers of polish to make this seem "just right" in my humble opinion. Of the later editions i thought 09 was pretty much the best of the most recent instalments. I hated 10 and 11 and it was only7 12 that started to put things right for me (the tackling especially). As i said, 13 just seems right with the majority of issues corrected.I'm not a fanboy so wont say its perfect by any means.Firstly the presentation. I dont have sky sports but from the few times i have seen it the whole matchday experience is here to enjoy. Player likeneses and animation = excellent. Commentary (inc the excellent option of using real world stats for the players) = amazing. Gameplay = fluid and usually very good though there are sometimes lag issues (especially online).Game options/modes. I'm not complaining but there is some much to this game that it can be a bit confusing at times and im sure i'll never use all of them. I'm enjoying Ultimate Team. Have a created player and am managing a team in Career Mode. Play online seasons etc etc etc... Value for money = superb.I love this game. for fans old and new; i', sure you will too. Up the Pools!

I have played and have kept quite a few Fifa games over the years. As a fan of PS2 I refuse to pay a fortune on a PS3 just for better graphics, and was pretty impressed when I first played this on my PS2.The graphics re pretty much what you would expect for a console thats 12 years old.The main difference I noticed was the gameplay. The players seem to have much more intellegence and are more realistic in their movements. It's not as simple as previous versions, and you really have to plan ahead a lot more.I found the camera angle annoying but changing to sideline view on long distance helped a lot.I also used control setup 7 as that seemed to work best for me.Shooting from free kicks is not as easy as other versions, and a lot of guess work is needed.tackling other players is extremely tough, and I found myself constantly slide tackling justto get the ball, or when I did get the ball It would move ahead of my player so that it would get taken yet again.Saying that, the game is extremely rewarding, although you may not get as many 10-0 wins, when you do win a game it is a very good feeling. The highlights at the end of the match dont really highlight the best bits at all which is a bit of a let down. All in all, if you stick with it, it does become annoyingly addictive, and I still feel ambivalent towards it.I would rate it an 8 out of 10,but to be honest if you want the best one, in my opinion, just buy Fifa 2005 for around 2 pound on Amazon, its probably the best out of all of them!

Just want to add a warning note for this product. It looks as though Amazon may have a batch of old stock. The Ultimate Edition has a Gold Pack offer but both games I received (after returning the first) had an expiry date of "28 Sept 2012" so the codes provided to redeem the offer would not work.Amazon tried to help but ultimately had to refer me to a call centre, with the comment..."I have been instructed by our Technical team that you should contact the technical support team of FIFA directly and they will have this issue resolved for you. Contact details are as follows:Tech Support - 0870 1242222Website: Take2europesupport.comAlternative website: Support.2k.com"Be prepared to spend A LOTof time if you call this number.Four of my son's friends purchased this game at more or less the same time and had codes with redemption dates in the future that they have been able to use (none bought from Amazon). If you are not bothered about using the offer then there's no problem; if you want the Gold Packs I would suggest you wait a while until Amazon has sold all of its `old' stock - or you could buy the game `over the counter' and check the code at the time of purchase.Or maybe I was simply very unlucky!

I have read a few negative reviews saying the game is basically the same as Fifa 12, Fifa 11 etc and whilst Fifa 13 isn't exactly a radical update on the previous editions you get what you pay for: basically updated teams, a bit of treaking and a fun game for what is essentially a budget price as I only paid £12 for a new copy of the game. Also there are features included that aren't in the PS3 version of Fifa 13 for example in the PS3 you cannot play a basic seasons mode in Fifa 13 offline where you just pick the team, tactics and play full seasons without dealing with finance. EA are basically only giving you half a game if you cannot play online so that is a reason why I like playing the ps2 version despite an inferior game engine.Another point is that the ps2 version of Fifa 13 still includes the game manuals which I think EA should still include in the PS3/Xbox 360 games. I still like to read manuals at my own leisure and not have to go online to look at controls. I do not like the way games companies are pushing everything online not everyone is online savvy. Overall though the PS2 version of Fifa 13 is a great game for the platform so get it whilst it is cheap.

I have given the game a 5 star rating... Goes without saying, this is one of, if not the bet game of 2012. Unfortunately Amazon don't have a rating system for their delivery methods/ supply chain (0 STARS!). I've been waiting at my post box since 9am this morning (its 15:20hrs now), took the day off work just to receive my copy of FIFA 13. Amazon you have managed to build me up only to tear me down. I pre-orderd this game on the 24th of July 2012 with the promise of not having to wait in line at a store to receive it like all the other dum dums but instead take collections today the 28th of Oct 2012 in my briefs with my OJ and morning paper. Livid doesn't even begin to explain it! Every van, truck or diesel vehicle that pass by my house has my heart skipping a beat only to see a white van, tesco truck etc zip by... Its disturbing to say the least. I'm never pre-ordering from you Amazon again, not for FIFA or any other pre-orderable game. I'll leave the insignificant purchases I make to you, but not anything this important I don't think your supply chain is ready for this kind of responsibility. To say the least, I am thoroughly disappointed!

Every year I buy the new Fifa and usually wonder why I bothered. Usually any differences are minimal to say the least and on a few occasions (especially in the case of Fifa 11) the game actually became worse! With Fifa 12 the new tackling system came into play. This spiced play up a lot, especially online as instead of simply holding in two buttons and then pressing lb to the nearest player, we had to tackle. This was a new skill to learn and meant that attacking teams could now dribble and defenders on screen made errors for the first time. With 2013 there is a real further improvement in this. Now each individual player feels exactly like they should. Small, nimble players are exactly that and towering, strong defenders will pummel small forwards! An example of this is Neymar (the young brazilian). He is super skilled but light as a feather. Sign him for your premiership team and see how he copes against premiership defenders! (he doesn't). All in an excellent game with evidence of real improvement. Commentary is better with added features like touchline injury reports and verbal reports from other matches. Overall, a really great game.

Bought this game for my 10 year old daughter who is the proverbial tomboy. As the game is practically two years old at this point it is greatly reduced in price and a real bargain at just over a tenner. Updates to the players/teams seems to be the only main difference between the versions and she is completely unbothered by the fact that Bale no longer plays for Spurs, and that Rooney's hair looks a lot different today than it does in FIFA 2013! While the graphics are very obviously Wii/Mario-like (especially when it comes to players' facial characteristics) you get over how poor some of them are and accept them for the comedic effect more than anything else. The game itself plays quite welland reading the manual is a must to get the most out of your remote control and making matches as competitive and challenging as possible. The choice of leagues & teams available to choose from is impressive and this coupled with indepth options to really manage teams, build a footballing city, play entire seasons etc will ensure that this is a Wii game that will keep giving & giving. It has certainly breathed new life into our aging Wii console.

First glance it was a good and fun game to play, however, after a month of playing the game the usual ultimate team nonsense is still there from last year, but seasons in ultimate team seem to make it a quick fix, sadly EA decided to only have 5 only online divisions though.Seasons has been improved making it more fun this year but i find that career mode is where the fun is ( if you play on your own ), although some menu's look the same the little additions make it all worth your while, from hearing Geoff Shreeves talk about injuries to the commentators speaking about players and team standings.Game play is better, with EA slowing the pace of the game down making for more and creative styles of play from tika taka style of football to the classic long ball approach. The new addition of skill games are a joy to play, helping you out in all situations, it even improves you in game so playing them is a must if you're new to FIFA.All in all I'd say its a good game but to get the most out of FIFA 13 i would say play it friends and family as well as playing seasons and career mode, unless your addicted to ultimate team lol.8/10

The last FIFA game I purchased was FIFA 11. I'd have purchased FIFA 12 but didn't enjoy the demo, after all the changes the franchise had received that year. So when the FIFA 13 demo came out, I nearly didn't download it. But I'm glad I did.FIFA 13 is an exceptional game. There are minor flaws - the game has frozen three times in the first three weeks, and there were some server issues that I believe have been addressed - but overall, this is by some distance the best football game I have ever played.Whether it be Ultimate Team, Career mode, Seasons mode, online with friends - every game is a challenge, and every game so far has been fun (even the ones I've lost). This year's effort focusses more on attacking than defending, so you can expect some high-scoring games, spectacular goals, and the thing that really sets this apart from previous games: the best players really are a class apart from the average Joes. There are some really detailed reviews on the game. I would recommend that you read them all, because once you have, you'll be clicking 'buy now' rather quickly! Enjoy!

Having, not tried a Fifa game on the wii I decided to purchase Fifa 13 after being disappointed with the 3DS version. What I'd gathered from the reviews was that this was Fifa 12 with updates. After a four star average was given to Fifa 12 I chose Fifa 13 because it was cheaper. And overall, at £14 I'd say this was an excellent buy.The graphics are great (although the players are slightly stubby), a wide range of game modes and you create your own city with any name you like and it has it's own club. As you populate the city as you complete challenges you build your own team. You also create your own player, which appears at your Manger Mode club.As a manager of your favourite side you can buy and sell players during the transfer window, train players and upgrade your facilities. It allows you to adjust difficulty of the game and is overall just absolutely amazing. The new console for Fifa took a bit of getting used to for me but I had it all sorted after a few games. For any football fan who has a wii, this is an excellent buy.
