OK, this is not a review about whether or not to buy a wooden train set for a little boy (a no brainer, they love them), but rather about which one. Took us a long time to decide and our thoughts, briefly, are that you probably can't go wrong with whichever choice of brand you make. Yes, these are a little dearer, but the quality is also clear. The trains are plastic but with good thickness and detail. The colours are bright and attractive and they are nicely tactile. But, they are not wood, as some purists have commented. If trodden on they probably will break, whereas the more blocky types (eg bigjgs) would be more robust. The figures here resemble the playmobil, type,

This is a great quality toy, the figures can sit in the train and the bus, and this, I think, makes it a great toy for girls as well as boys. The train moves along grooves on the track, the cars move in grooves on the wooden road. There is a station and a couple of level crossings, and if a success bits of track, road and other accessories can be bought and added later. It was a present for my young niece, and although she is young, she seems very interested in putting the figures in the train and bus and pushing them around, although not yet on the tracks. My son had a Brio train set and he had years of fun from it. First class toy.

We order three different sets of Brio for my Granddaughters birthday. World-Farm Railway Set, World-Rail & Road Travel Set and World-Parking Garage. These are fantastic. Well made and they all interlink so different add on's can be bought for gifts over time. Once set up she played for hours with these sets. Would recommend and purchase more. Great role/creative play instead of all these electronic gadgets. Ordered and received the next day. Thank you!!

This set is great and a must have add-on for your Childs (or your) Brio set. We live near a level crossing so my nephew new exactly what it was when he open it. He was very firm in telling us when the train could and could not go, and that the bus had to wait till the train was on the far side of the tracks.Well packaged - all packed individually (whether the extra use of plastic is necessary I don't know - probably not). Arrived in good time.

Bought to accompany the Brio garage. Fantastic toy which is beautifully made and simple fun. Wood is nicely finished and fits together perfectly. If parts come off the trains or the crossroads pieces, they’re easily reattached rather than snapping which is great. Our two year old really loves this set and it withstands his rough play well. Totally recommend the Brio range!

An excellent gift for our 2 year old grandson who plays with it all the time. The railway tracks also accommodate small metal cars as he hasn't yet grasped the principles of road/rail separation. A very good quality starter set which is compatible with other manufacturers' products. BigJigs accessories are excellent and quite a bit cheaper.

We bought this for our grandson, his cousin Matt got one earlier on this year and we wanted to be consistent. It’s something that can grow with child and makes future presents easier. Matt loves it and at just over two knows how to build his own tracks and create his own train convoys which I believe has helped him develop new skill.

Sturdy quality product. I still have a set from 20 years ago. My granddaughter loves it when she comes to stay so I bought this set for her. She spends hours using her imagination creating layouts and taking the little colourful characters in journeys. Highly recommend Brio as it is top quality and can be added to.

The inner box (actual brio box )arrived damaged. The outer amazon box was nicely sealed which makes me think that WHOEVER put the item inside knew the box was damaged and did not care!!! Naughty!!! All the parts are present and funcion well. The product is brill.

Our 4 year old grandson got this for Christmas. The brio train set is such good quality; a well thought out collection of items so play is varied and different each time. He has had hours of fun with it and loves building new tracks.

Wonderful quality, which I expected having seen some items when I was a primary teacher. Very sturdy and easy for my 3 year old grandson to put together. Versatile and excellent play-value... Hoping to add to it for subsequent gifts.

We bought this for one of our grandchildren as we had one for our children over 30 years ago, they are expensive but of good quality and should provide for several years of fun for two little ones. Pleased with the purchase.

Brilliant first Brio set with a nice number of vehicles, tracks and roads. Really good quality as is expected from the brand. My son loves getting the little figures in and out of the train too.
