This would be great as a starter set for a younger child. It has a decent number of play features for the price, with the crane very much the heart of the action.If your child would enjoy lifting the load from the railway wagon to the lorry and back again, stopping the lorry at the railway crossing, etc. then this would be a perfect fit, but there's no real flexibility for changing the track and road layouts with the pieces included.We bought this for Christmas for my son last year when he was five. He was very happy with it, but it hasn't ended up seeing as much use as I thought. Maybe it doesn't add that much if you already have a couple of Brio sets.

This was a good purchase for the price I got it. It is very sturdy as most of the Brio products. It has a lot of plastic though more than I would like as it is obvious for the crane and some road parts (grey). It is playable as it is advertised you can lift the engine with no hands just the crane and then move it to the other transportation vehicle and use your finger to keep it in place after lowering the crane and before raising it again. Truck is great and I loved the train. Great product with added fun factor that will also add some hours of play to any left-aside brio set.

Brio is brilliant. The number of options available mean there's always something new and exciting and it keeps my boy occupied for hours on end. This set is a lovely little addition to his train tracks. The only thing I would say, is that if you bought this without owning any other Brio it would be a bit boring. There's not much track so it really needs to be added to other bits. That said, the magnetic cranes are great but not enough on their own! Only buy if you already have Brio!

The train set is lovely - I bought it for my 2-yr old grandson who can easily manage to put together the train tracks and road crossing. He has other Brio products and this enhances them well. My only complaint is that the delivery came via YODEL who once again just dumped the package in the nearest thing they could find - in this case my compost bin! Why companies use YODEL is beyond me - they are atrocious!!I would recommend Brio to anyone - but PLEASE stop using YODEL!

This and several other items were bought for 3 year old twins (a boy and a girl). Both were very happy. The product is well made and easy for them to assemble and change layouts etc. With the other items reviewed there are lots of combinations so boredom is not an issue. The delivery from Amazon was 2 days although I had selected the "free postage" option which is 3 - 5 days and the packaging was of the usual high standard. No complains on any aspect hence 5 stars.

As the set was sent directly to my grandchild's home for his birthday I haven't actually seen it myself but I gather it was a great success and my son was impressed with the quality and it is being used with a basket of tracks they already have which are compatible.

Although Brio is the more expensive brand of wooden track sets going it shows in the quality a really great product. The little cranes work brilliantly and ideal size and tension for my 3yr old son. Would buy Brio again definately.

Grandson reaily enjoys this as an extra to his rail layouts. Only trouble is, there's not a lot of road pieces, would need extension packs, but there's not much in those either.

My Grandson loves playing with the train but a little young to push the train around the track but getting the hang of it. he will have many hours of Great Fun.

The Boy was very happy!Brio is VERY nice quality stuff, dont buy cheap IKEA / fake Brio tat - buy the original as it is nearly always the best!

Got this set as an add on to our existing track, my 2 and 4 year old love it especially as it comes with a road and lots of other bits

Our grandson who is not yet three years really enjoys the moving parts on the crane and truck, a great addition to his Brio railway

I brought this for my grandsons 2nd birthday. He loves it. I like the magnetic on the train easy for him to handle
