With the advent of home blood pressure monitors, the silent killer 'high blood pressure', need not be such a threat after all.My husband and I are in our mid fifties and unfortunately due to disabilities we are not as healthy as we would like to be and whilst my blood pressure remains steady and is not cause for concern, my husbands is a bit more up and down (probably due to his very short fuse especially when the kids act up). Anyway after a couple of scares at our local surgery we decided that it may be prudent to use a home blood pressure monitor on a regular basis.I was delighted to be offered the 'Beurer BM55 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor'to review.Ease of use is the first thing that springs to mind when referring to the 'Beurer BM55'. The blood pressure cuff itself should fit most people, it is easy to put on and quite comfortable to wear. The addition of a resting indicator is very useful as most mistakes with blood pressure readings can simple be down to the fact that the patient was not adequately rested at the time of the reading. Wait for the indicator to turn green before testing. After putting on the cuff, simply press the start button and the devise automatically inflates and deflates accordingly. Blood pressure measurements and pulse readings are very easy to read on the large illuminated display, and readings are also saved automatically for you, allowing you to call up the last 7 days readings at any time.My husband has had no trouble at all in using this blood pressure monitor twice daily (morning and night). We were especially pleased to see that Beurer has included an Arrhythmia detection facility within the devise, this tool will alert you if you have any potentially dangerous irregular heart rhythm going on.Also included is a free 'Health Manager' app. for your PC and although we haven't actually used this software yet, I am sure that it will prove to be useful in the future. After using the Beurer Blood Pressure Monitor for a little over a week, we noticed that my husbands blood pressure definitely increased considerably in the evening, we were able to relay this information to our doctor with the result that my husband is now been placed on medication for high blood pressure.Result! ... and possibly another death averted.

This blood pressure monitor has many capacities, but is simple and straightforward to use. It has the option to record pressure measurements on M1 or M2, meaning that two people can use it and keep a separate record. Down the left hand side of the screen, the WHO brackets for blood pressure ranges are shown in green, yellow, orange and red. When you take your blood pressure, a little arrow at the side of the screen points to the relevant range. This is very helpful as it reduces the need to look up what the numbers mean, although you can still do that if you wish, as the numerical blood pressure ranges are listed in the accompanying booklet. It also has an indicator for cardiac arrhythmia: an icon of a little squiggly heart will flash if it detects possible arrhythmia, but of course it is not a substitute for a medical diagnosis and if you have any concerns, your doctor should be your first port of call. The monitor will also show if you are adequately relaxed when you take your measurement: the bottom will light up with a red person if you aren't relaxed and a green one if you are. So far, I have measured my blood pressure approx. 10 times and although my blood pressure is in the normal range, I haven't had a single green person symbol, although other family members have! I guess that means I need to relax more! The monitor can be connected to your PC or smartphone: it comes with a USB cable so you can transfer measurements to your computer and keep a record. A "Health Manager" app can also be downloaded onto a smartphone, but I haven't used the app yet so can't report on that. It comes with a nylon bag in which to store the monitor, the arm cuff and the instruction booklet. It also includes 4 x AAA batteries, which is helpful as so many battery-operated devices don't include batteries, which often leads to frustration! A mains attachment is available to buy separately, but I prefer to run mine on batteries. Overall, the Beurer BM55 is an excellent, high-quality monitor for people who need to monitor their blood pressure regularly and report back to their doctor.

To basics. If you are looking at this piece of equipment I assume you will know why you need one and what you need it for. What you de need to know isA. Is it accurate?B. Is it easy to use andC. Will it last?I can honestly say that the answer to all 3 is YES.So if that is what you need to know you can stop reading this review and buy it.For those that need a little bit more read on.This device is German Built and designed.I could have just used that sentence rather than write the above. As you would expect from the German Built design that stands for quality and reliability. This device fits that criteria well.It is robust, beautifully designed and functional and should last a lifetime.(And I realise the irony in that last bit when you realise why you need to buy one)There is a long, long guarantee of 3 years but as this is quality built I doubt if many will take up on that guarantee. In the box you get.1 x Beurer BM55 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor1 x Cuff 22-36cm1 x Storage Bag4 x AAA Batteries1 x Instruction ManualYou have a link to download The Beurer "Healthmanager" app and I can really recommend that you take up this offer to get the best possible use out of this brilliant device. You can download the details to your computer or laptop and this will provide a plethora of read outs and data that you can send/give to your physician .The readings are very easy to read.Stylish is one of the words used to describe this device from the company's blurb. It is but that is at the end of the long list of the importance of this device. It is extremely portable and because it is robust it will survive a bit of hard handling. But it will pay you to protect it.It comes with the welcome addition of 4 AAA batteries that it requires.I should add my usual warning here of always ensuring you replace the batteries with a set of quality LEAK Proof batteries. If you use cheapo ones they will leak and ruin the device.And...well that is just about all you need to know.I wish you and your family good health.

Others have already described this device in detail, so I'll spare you the repetition, but this is a very high quality device, that looks very professional without being excessively 'medical' in appearance. It has a wonderfully big screen and is tremendously easy to use. Attach the cuff to your arm, press 'on' and off it goes. If you've done it wrong, then it will tell you. It really doesn't get simpler than that. That said, if you're so inclined, you can get into some quite detailed data with this device. Download the free 'health manager' from the Beurer website (which annoyingly you have to google to find, as the instructions don't tell you where to get it)and you can connect this monitor to your PC and record all sorts of things. The device itself will store its last 60 readings, but it's a little unfriendly to use, so for trends I recommend the software. The software is also at first a bit tricky to get your head around (the trick is to press a memory button when you turn the device on, and then attach the USB cord or it won't go into data transfer mode) but once you get it set up you can see all of your data. Graphs of your blood pressure over time, of your heart rate, what time you checked, and even a pie chart showing what proportion of your results are in what WHO zone. Very powerful. You can store data for two people.Of course, if you're buying this for a elderly relative to use at home, you can also use this data tracking to make sure they are actually using the thing! The repeatability of the device seems very good, I'm getting consistent results over the time I've tested it. It might be useful to take it along to a doctor on your next checkup to calibrate it against their equipment though. The device itself looks solidly built, and runs on batteries (included) so it is very portable. It comes in a neat little nylon bag to keep everything together. An external mains adaptor is available separately.

Easy to set up and looks very well made. Solid and durable. I am quite confident that it will last a long time. Can be operated with batteries, or from mains with an adapter (although this is not supplied). Measures blood pressure quickly and easily using a pressurized arm band, or 'cuff', which is latex free, and measures 22cm-36cm circumference. This is not intended as a heart monitor for sporting activity, as blood pressure reading need to be taken at least 30 minutes after any exercise. It stores the blood pressure readings so that you can see any long term trends. Storage capacity for up to 2 people's measurements, and you can transfer these measurements to your PC, using the USB supplied. The arm cuff automatically inflates - you don't need to pump it up. The basic instructions for use are conveniently displayed in diagrams on the inside of the cuff. It takes only about 30 seconds to do a measurement. The machine can tell you if you are adequately at rest when you take the measurement - there is warning LED if it determines you are not at rest. The machine will assess and classify your blood pressure into categories - and if too high the screen will tell you to seek medical advice. There is also a built in scale from the WHO on the side of the screen. Overall, this product inspires confidence in the results, and would be excellent for keeping an eye on your blood pressure if you are implementing lifestyle changes.

This is a really good quality blood pressure monitor, much more on this than cheaper models. It has a side bar and a colour indicator which sends a message if there you have a problem. As with other monitors you have to set it up before you can start using it, set date, time etc comes with batteries. It has a very clear display which is really easy to read. Also excellent instructions which are basically straight forward. It advises you check your blood pressure at the same time each day. It has a memory so you can keep up to date with your readings. My husband has very high blood pressure and has to make trips fortnightly to the surgery, having been this morning we tried this monitor out to see if it was as good as people say,I have to say we tried it yesterday and today after visiting the surgery and it was extremely accurate on both days. Some people had problems with the cuff saying it was difficult to use, we found no such problem went on first time no trouble. This is a very well made accurate monitor, maybe a little pricey for some people but has far more on here than the basic and worth the extra money. This can save you many trips to the surgery taking your own pressures and keeping a check. I tried myself today and I have to say it was extremely accurate once again. This is a very good product to keep in the household. Not too cumbersome and neat in design.

This monitor does so much more than cheaper models, there is a side bar with colour indicator that alerts the user to whether or not they may have a problem.I have a pretty basic monitor from Lloyd`s pharmacy that has been calibrated with the equipment in my G.P.`s surgery therefore I know it to be accurate, I used both on four different family members earlier and they gave the same readings. It takes a few minutes to set the date and time, batteries are easy to fit and came with mine but not sure if this is always the case, vine products come with batteries as a matter of course. There is a really clear and easy to read display and the instructions are pretty straightforward. It is advisable to check blood pressure at the same time each day, there is also a memory for readings so you can keep up to date.My only reason for not awarding 5 stars is the cuff, I find it cumbersome and difficult to fit due to the breadth of it. The velcro catches on the metal adjuster and takes a bit of work to get into position. If you are in the market for a monitor this one is accurate and very well made, perhaps a little on the pricey side.

The Beurer BM55 blood pressure monitor is easy to use and offers extra functions on top of just measuring blood pressure. After reading the instructions and giving it a test run, I was up and running with it quickly. The box comes with the Monitor unit, an arm cuff (22-36cm), 4 x AAA batteries, instruction manual, record booklet and a storage bag. The storage bag is excellent, it holds everything together (including the papers) so the cardboard box can be discarded. The display is large and clear and the unit automatically runs through a measurement shortly after it is switched on. There are two memory options (so the records for two individuals can be stored) and up to 60 readings can be stored. It was easy to set up, easy to follow the instructions and easy to use. Nice and simple, no fuss.It is good to be able to check our blood pressure regularly, some time ago I was overweight and had high blood pressure. After weight loss and increasing exercise my blood pressure gradually reduced, I like having this machine to check my own blood pressure every now and then.

The Beurer BM55 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Health Manager arrived today in a box, which contains batteries 4 x AAA, instructions and USB cable. This appears to be a quality built product. Reading instructions its simple to use and apply for usage. I was sceptical that the results would be accurate as electronic devices are supposedly notorious to produce bad results. I tried this on myself and the blood pressure reading was spot on. I know what my average is and this came out exactly right. Tried this on my wife and the result was the same, spot on exact. Transfer results to PC easy, there is also a booklet enclosed where you can note the results on pen and paper. In summary a reliable and accurate device that will measure and provide accurate blood pressure readings. If you are seeking such a device then this is recommended.

As I get older I become increasingly health conscious and while I can keep a check on what I eat and drink, as well as my pulse, but it's not as easy to check a check on blood pressure which is often the best way of determining if something is wrong. This very useful gadget solves that problem and it is a doddle to use. All you have to do is follow the very simple instructions and then let the monitor do its work. What's more your results can be stored on your PC via the downloadable app. It looks and feel very professional and the results correlate with the ones recently taken by my GP so I have confidence in its accuracy. On the downside, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing and self-diagnosis (unless you're medically qualified)is usually folly, so please only use this machine as a pointer to getting things checked properly.

I was really surprised at the quality of this product for the price. It seems really robust and is very good design, clear and easy to read. I don't have another monitor to compare how accurate the readings are but they seem about as expected for me. I won't be using the software for tracking at the moment as I only check my blood pressure occasionally but I can see if I ever have a problem that it needs to be checked daily at the same time etc then that will make it a lot easier.Comes with batteries included and the instruction manual is easy to use. Would recommend.

Needed a user friendly, uncomplicated automatic sphygmomanometer for home use. This one has great reviews in relation to accuracy and detecting an irregular Rhythm. I was sold with reading multiple excellent worldwide reviews external to Amazon reviews. Good instructions to set up. Not tedious as some can be. I do not need this machine for complex use, so have not looked at all the functions. It is an excellent, lightweight, attractive, well made and user friendly machine.Seller and product fully recommended.

I got this for my husband and he finds it very good, but the readings tend to differ from those taken at the doctor's surgery, the pulse rate on the machine being consistently lower and the BP.higher.I don't know why this is,obviously there are many factors at work, but it is a really useful machine to have at home and very well made.

this item replaces a Lloyds Chemist branded monitor that simply ceased to work. This one is very robustly made and is excellent quality. Not the cheapest on the market but I think it is good value.Arrived promptly.Only feature missing is a voice read-out to say whether the blood pressure is good/bad/ optimum etc.
