Bayonetta and Vanquish on 360 are both backwards compatible with Xbox One, but neither are One X enhanced. Unlike games like Red Dead Redemption or Forza Horizon which were patched to run at beautiful, crisp 4K, Platinum's greatest works languished in last-gen blur-o-vision. So imagine if they were patched? This is what you're getting here: the most basic (I hate to say, even lazy) re-release possible. Resolution and performance is up and it is wonderful to play these games at 4K, don't get me wrong - but enhancements end there. You're basically paying for enhancements that other developers patched into their games for free. And let's not get started on how you could have run these games at the same quality on PC years ago.Bayonetta is my absolute most favourite game EVER and I own it on every format going. If you need a review of the game itself, check out the old 360 ones. Nothing has changed really, and as far as character action games go, this still stands above the likes of Devil May Cry 5, God of War, even Bayonetta 2. It has set a bar for gameplay that no other game in the genre has come close to. It is a fantastic game! But I'm concentrating on the quality of the re-release for this review, and I can't be all that positive about it.I've already mentioned how basic the enhancements are but let's consider some other notable re-releases to see what a reissue could mean for a game: Resident Evil 2 and Dark Souls Remastered.Resident Evil 2 is a complete and utter overhaul, built from the ground up. It is widely considered to be one of the best remakes of all time with all-new graphics and gameplay. It is certainly still Resident Evil 2, but very different from the original.Dark Souls Remastered is much more basic, being very much the same game but featuring major performance enhancements and quality of life improvements. You can play the Remastered version in exactly the same way you did the original, but you will have a more pleasant experience. These two different approaches to re-releasing a game are equally valid. One essentially produces a brand new, but familiar game; the other simply brings a beloved, older game up to current-gen standards while preserving (and improving) the core experience.Bayonetta/Vanquish is neither of these. Old glitches, exploits and quirks remain. Difficulty spikes and balance go unchanged. Extra bonus features are absent. Even the Wii U version of Bayonetta got extra costumes and abilities that helped to enhance the gameplay!Just be be clear, they are not glitchy games, the difficulty can be tough but it's always fun to overcome the challenges and neither game got DLC that we might otherwise expect to be bundled in. I just want to make the point that these are the 2009 games exactly. Still fantastic games, but bare bones. Let me say again, the Wii U (and Switch) version of Bayonetta is more feature rich. So it's difficult not to be a little disappointed that a bit more effort wan't put in.Oh, and a note about the physical release - the disc acts as a licence key to download the games. The data that gets installed from the disc amounts to less than 200MB, while the download required is about 12GB per game. This is well worth noting if you have slow internet or a limited data plan. The steelbook case is beautiful, though. So there we go. The games in their own right are brilliant. Fantastic! 5 stars all day, every day. But in the hierarchy of remakes, remasters and re-releases, this is bottom of the barrel stuff. If you've not experienced either before, ABSOLUTELY go for it. If you're a fanatic like me and need an excuse to play again, sure. Otherwise? I'm not sure I can recommend it, especially if you don't have a 4K TV. The 360 versions still run well and can be picked up dead cheap. The Switch and Wii U versions offer portability and extra features, and the PC version offers the same (or better) enhancements for a lower price. To conclude, PLAY THESE GAMES. But on which format, well, you'll have to decide that for yourself.*Special ammendment for PS4 players*Neither of the PS3 versions of these games are playable on PS4. Also, the PS3 version of Bayonetta was an absolutely atrocious port. This means that this re-release is the only way to play on PS4, and represents a major improvement over last gen versions.

When I see this advertised on ps store, recently, my jaw almost hit the floor and I had to come straight to Amazon to pre order.I’ve never played Bayonetta before but I have played and completed Vanquish on ps3. It’s funny because Vanquish was so far under the radar that most people never knew about it, including me. I randomly see it on amazon and I took a chance. So glad that I did because it’s 1 of the finest shooters I’ve ever played. It’s quite similar to Gears Of War, it’s a 3rd person cover shooter. I can’t remember the story but basically, you play as some dude, I think his name is Sam (I’ve not played the game in many years) you have some kinda mech suit on and you have a special ability where you can slide along to floor and slow down time. You can use this feature to get away from danger, dodge bullets and get into a better striking position. The bosses are very big and very fun and it’s just a blast to play. I guess the new PS4 version probably looks slightly better and it plays at 60fps on ps4 pro. My only criticism is that the environment is very samey throughout the game. To say I loved this game would be an understatement. Can’t wait to jump back in, this evening. Oh and the price is great too. 2 great games for £35 ? I’d have been happy to pay the asking price, just for Vanquish alone.

Bayonetta is like a mix between classic God of War and NieR Automata in all the best ways. It's fast paced, the combat is deeply satisfying and it oozes style.Bayonetta herself is a bit overly sexual for my tastes, but after a few hours I got used to the incessant innuendo and started to chuckle at the "climax" when you kill angels. It's a very fun, silly game not to be taken seriously.

After reading reviews, I worried the game will arrive in a regular plastic case, but in my case (no pun intended), ordering directly from Australian Amazon. I thankfully received the Steelbook version. Arrived rather quickly too. Anyways, both are solid games and having them on Xbox One/X/Series X is the ideal way to experience them. Highly recommended.

If you're an avid gamer, then you would've most likely heard of Platinum Games. This Dev company are known for their incredible action games and style. And these two games packaged into one are a staple of what great games they can make. In my opinion, this is a fantastic addition to a physical collection.

The item advertised is for the steelbook version, as also noted in the text for this item.Item is some months old, and I missed the questions stating whilst stocks last - perhaps update the listing to say this.

2 great games for £20 is hard to argue with, you definitely get your money's worth in terms of time, especially since these games (Vanquish particularly) were hard to get a hold of before this release.
