This is just a small review about the iphoneIf it ain't broke, don't fix it -- right? We know countless reviews of the iPhone 3GS may begin with that cliché, but there's little chance you'd find a better way to describe the strategy that Apple has just put into play with its latest smartphone. In many ways, the 3GS is a mirror image of the iPhone 3G; externally there's no difference. It's inside where all the changes have happened, with Apple issuing a beefed-up CPU, new internal compass, larger capacities for storage, and improved optics for its camera. More to the point, the release of the 3GS coincides with the launch of iPhone OS 3.0, a major jump from previous versions of the system software featuring highly sought after features like cut, copy, and paste, stereo Bluetooth, MMS, tethering, video recording, landscape keyboard options for more applications, and an iPhone version of Spotlight. At a glance, what Apple seems to be doing is less a reinvention of the wheel and more like retreading the wheel it's already got (and what a wheel, right?). So, do the iPhone 3GS and OS 3.0 tweak the details in just the right places, or has Apple gone and gotten lazy on us? Read on to find out.iPhone 3G S unboxing and hands-onHardwareAs we said in the intro, there is nothing visually different about the iPhone 3GS versus the iPhone 3G, save for the lettering on the back, which is now mirrored like the Apple logo. While we had seen leaked images of a matte finish, bezel-free version of the device, when push came to shove, what we got was essentially a carbon copy of the iPhone 3G. In terms of the general elements of the phone -- the plastic casing, mute switch, home and power buttons, etc. -- there is no change at all. In fact, if you were to lay this phone and its predecessor next to one another face up, the new model would be indistinguishable. Of course, the 3GS is not just a clone of the previous device, and Apple has made most of its significant changes inside the phone.InternalsFirst off, the company has supercharged the CPU of the 3GS (remember, the S is for speed), jacking up the processor numbers from 412MHz to a rumored 600MHz. Additionally, the RAM is said to have doubled from 128MB to 256MB, the phone is offered with 16GB or 32GB of storage, and Apple has swapped out the previous graphics chip for a new version -- dubbed the PowerVR SGX -- which adds support for more robust visuals via OpenGL ES 2.0. All this should mean that end users will see a noticeable difference in app speeds and loading times (Apple claims an average of 2x faster loads, though since the company has been cagey about upgrade details, it's hard to know what the real differences are). So, do the revamped insides equal an improved experience on the phone? Kinda. For our oft-used phone actions -- flicking through homescreens, calling up search terms in Spotlight, scrolling through long lists -- we definitely felt like the 3GS was snappier than its predecessor. It wasn't like the doors were flying off, but there was a noticeable bump in speed, particularly when it came to initial data loads (how quickly you see content pop up within an application). When it came to opening apps which pull lots of that kind of content, like Contacts, Calendar, or Messaging, we saw an even moreRead full review...

First of all, its an iPhone. Therefore its pricey. But for the cost you are paying for a whole bunch of features other smartphones and mobiles do not have. The iPhone 3Gs is the second fastest phone on the market second to its predecessor the iPhone 4. The only 2 phones in competition with apples iPhone are, the Samsung Galaxy S, a fantastic smartphone from samsung with all features you can expect from a very expensive smartphone. Runs android software (latest), wifi, bluetooth A2DP, Extremely high clarity screen. 8GB built in memory. ETC ETC. The other phone in competition is Sony Ericsson's new flagship phone, the X10. The X10 is runnning almost as fast as the iPhone 4 and faster than the iPhone 3GS.Although this new phone is crammed with advanced features, users have reported several problems when using them. The iPhone 3GS is a very capable 3G phone at the high end of the spectrum. With a massive built in 32GB memory its enough for most of a user's music needs. Plus with its HD screen and general easiness of use, this phone has become extremely popular over the last year. The 3GS only differs from the the previous iPhones for 3 main reasons, its now using the latest android and has a faster in built processor. It has a better camera on board with options to take video and zoom in and out. Features which previous models lacked. Thirdly its using HSPDA which is a step up from 3G. HSPDA is effectively 3.5G making web browsing speeds much faster. On a final overall look at this phone, I would be inclined to say that although its expensive, you definitely get your moneys worth when you purchase one of these! If you want a long lasting high spec phone that can handle pretty much anything (mobile wise) that yo throw at it, then this is the phone to buy!Read full review...

Having calculated just how much Vodafone were going to charge me for the cost of a 32GB Iphone 3GS over a 24 month contract, I decided to purchase a new one, factory sealed from Ebay. The seller supplied the IPhone very quickly and the only slight problem I had initially was that it didn't appear in Itunes when I plugged the USB cable in, and just showed a red battery with a lightening fork on the screen. It didn't take long to Google the problem and find out how to force the IPhone into restore mode, that Itunes then recognised, downloaded the software to the phone and it then charged without any problems.I've been thrilled with the IPhone, finding it quite intuitive to use, enjoy using many of the free Apps and now totally addicted to listening to audio books on it too. I recently downloaded the 4G software and that went perfectly without any problems either.I suppose the only downside really is the battery life. I try to conserve mine during the day by switching off bluetooth when I'm not in my car, and turning off the push feature on email and Facebook etc and manage ok, but I suspect for someone who makes a lot of calls they'd probably need to have some means of recharging when not at home. For me though, I wouldn't part with it now - it's just far too convenient for emails & internet on the move and so easy to use.Read full review...

Using the iphone is different from any other phone I have used. It took about a day to get used to all its funny ways. To do some things you have to be connected to itunes which I hate as all it tries to do is sell you apps. The phone does do everything it says on the tin. It is fast to operate and has a very clear signal when using the telephone. Connections to bluetooth and WiFi devices is probably the fastest of any smart phone I have owned. It never drops connections which is excellent. There are downsides. The battery life is awful I just get a day out of a fully charged phone. My last smartphone a Nokia E72 lasted 5 days with the same usage. Some of the applications cannot be modified in the way I would expect from a smartphone.APPLE have restricted control of lots of the applications and as a result makes the phone for me a less satisfactory purchase. Overall I have to say it has been reliable, fast and done the minimum I would have expected from the phone. I would recommend.Read full review...

Bought this product as i was firstly in need of a new phone but had recently lost my ipod. Buying the iphone took care of both of these problems, the 32gb version is more than enough and i have not even got close to filling it yet.As a phone it works great, very easy texting and making and receiving calls. The camera is very useful and easy to use, the picture quality is not great however.Being able to use the internet is also a massive bonus of this phone, very clear webpages and easy to navigate around them, very useful being able to get live updates to your emails o the go.The biggest downfall of the phone so far is the battery life, I have found it can go from 100% to 0 during a days use, this is fine if you are around home and work a lot and can charge it with ease but can become a problem on long trips/overnight stays etc.On the whole i love it, wonder how i lived with out it before hand!Read full review...

Absolutely fantastic, I love it. The only few things I am not so sure about is first it only lets you choose from the default naff sounds for receiving texts - no way of adding ringtones to texts and the seemingly very breakable case. As long as you dont drop it thats about it - I love everything else about it.Be very careful when buying Iphones from ebay as there are a lot of cons going on - remember you will not get a cheap cheap iphone - mine was about as cheap, if not a bit cheaper than what I was expecting to pay for a locked (vodafone)32gb 3gs iphone - £350 nearly new. There are some advertising duel sim cards and spare batterys - they are fakes and lots of new users selling a few iphones- never see your money or a phone again.Might get a few bargains when the 4gen one comes out later this month but dont get conned by a really "too good to be true deal" it wont be.Read full review...

I bought this phone as a present for my good lady and was so impressed by it I ended up buying one myself. I use the internet at home off of my system so don’t have to pay to use that. All my contacts, addresses, appointments etc were automatically transferred across (if you use Outlook). It transfers all your music, videos, films etc as well, even if you didn’t buy them from iTunes. The iTunes operating system is very user friendly as well which is also the place where you synchronise the phone.I used a pocket PC before with all the Microsoft operating systems on it (Word, Excel, Outlook etc) and was extremely happy with it. Once I saw this iPhone in operation I was convinced immediately that this is the way ahead! It’s much, much faster and user friendly.I can’t see me looking for another phone for many years to come.Read full review...

Come iPhone 4 or 5, the 3gs 32Gb in White is a nothing less of a cake in an Apple fan's hands. White makes you prouder while the massive 32 gig memory gives u plenty boot space to kick as many balls as u want be it in games or on utilities. The USb connecter socket area is less labile and susceptible to cracks but that is just idiosyncracy. The handset refelcts the owner's mentality. In the hands of a devoted Apple user, this is always a piece of heaven. When upgraded to the latest version, we can download ultra-sensitive, high performance apps which enable more than 3 million functions in your left and right hands!Said! While the iPhone 4 is still struglling to get a network signal,a 3gs will do all the dance moves in many ways you like. This indeed is a candy!

At the end of my old 3G iPhone 18m contract with O2 I went onto a monthly contract while awaiting the new 4G. After the launch I couldn't get hold of one and was then concerned about the reported teething problems. My old 3G was running very slowly so I decided to upgrade to the 3GS, but O2 were by now only offering the 8GB version (and my old 3G was 16GB). I bought one very painlessly via Ebay at what I consider to be a good price. I had it up an running within an hour of receipt and it has a full Apple warranty. I am delighted with the phone, particulary the processor speed and the multi-tasking. the camera quality is great and the video is surprisingly good.I am now in no rush to upgrade.

The iPhone 3GS is easily the best iPhone ever. (Iphone 4 still has the antenna problem) Apple have filled in the missing pieces of the jigsaw and created possibly the best phone / media player / internet device ever. Highlights include GPS navigation with a digital compass, OS X applications from the App Store, super fast web browsing, Apple's famous music-playing capabilities, up to 32 GB of built-in memory, and Wi-Fi. It also has the voice control system so all that is needed is your voice to navigate to certain contacts, music etc. The only real problem is the price. You must be prepared to pay atleast £300. Apart from that it is Magnificent. Well, Well recommended instead of Iphone 4.

The phone is great, very fast internet when your in 3G signal, easy to use and easy to add apps buy downloading them or through itunes when connected to your PC. The apps themselves are better than the real internet pages on your PC. I've tried most of the touch screen phones and the iphone is still the best as its more responsive than the rest. The only things I dont like about it is the battery life, you could easily drain the battery in less than 6 hours if you are constantly using it, (which you usually are when you first get it) and the cost is the other downside, but you get what you pay for...once you have a proper go on an iphone, you will want on, I did!

I've had my baby(as i call her)now for pretty much a month & I'd be totally lost without her. As I have a deformed hand it's become extremely hard & painful to text which is why I mow have touchscreen phones, my last one was useless & seeing how good my son's & daughter's iPhone were convinced me to buy this product. Words fail me because I just could not explain how good this phone is. I know I will never need another phone ever, if they improve on this one then I'd be amazed. And having wifi is a massive bonus too, I cannot fault this phone in anyway, it's brilliant & I encourage you to buy one !!

I brought this phone to try out, I also thought I would never have a smart phone (they are always smarter then me), my contract wasn't up for another 6 months and this would give me a chance to get to know the phone before I made my choice of upgrade. Well since getting it I have become an app nerd (have an app for everything!!). I am a keen reader so have downloaded a lot of books, who needs a kindle! I am having a lot of fun with this phone and with the larger memory reacts a lot quicker and can store a lot of stuff on it.
