Plan to keep this review updated with further use. Using the G7 Power, Black, purchased on UK release date for £179.00.SIZE: I had concerns about the size and weight of the phone, but it's slimmer and lighter than I thought it would be. Also easy to use with being quite narrow, yet still benefits from a huge screen.IN THE BOX: The included case is fine and still doesn't make the phone too massive, though it does make the power and volume buttons a little stiff to use initially. This wears off quickly. Fast charger is compact, cable about 1m.SCREEN: Screen quality is better than expected. I was concerned about the 720p but no reason to be, it looks great. The notch isn't too imposing either. When watching videos on YouTube you can zoom in or out to hide the notch and either is fine. It is quite wide though so you can’t see many notifications compared to the teardrop G7.UPDATE: 01/08/2019: I cracked my screen protector so removed it and never got around to ordering a new one. The screen on my phone now has a large patch of scuff from something rubbing against it. Quite annoying and screen not as tough as I expected.LOOK, FEEL: The black plastic is a fingerprint magnet, but easy to wipe clean with a sleeve. The phone looks sleek enough and I like the basic styling. The power button and volume rocker are a tad too high up the phone for my liking. The volume rocker is almost at the top of the phone and quite difficult to operate one handed. Over time, I have become pretty used to this, no longer an issue.UPDATE: 01/08/2019: The phone constantly looks like greasy sludge as I have given up cleaning it every 5 ins. no longer use the case as the added bulk began to annoy me. The black plastic is also easily scratched on the corners.FUNCTIONALITY: (MOTO ACTIONS & ANDROID PIE): The torch karate chop gesture is amazing. I use this all the time, so much so that I try to use it on non-moto phones. Android 9 has introduced a shortcut which has bested the Moto one – pressing the power button twice for camera works much better than Moto’s flick gesture. The one bar nav is ok. I wasn't keen at first, and I don't think it is really an improvement over the 3 button system, but I am used to it now and it is fine. One thing that does irritate me is that you can't lock the screen with the fingerprint sensor, you have to press the power button. This has become less an issue for me having had the phone for a while, but I rarely use the pull down notification bar from the fingerprint sensor, so I still think this would be more useful.UPDATE: This doesn't really bother me any more. Started using double screen tap to lock on Nova Launcher. The horizontal tiles on recent apps take some getting used to, I find them much harder to operate quickly with one hand. Also, the "clear all" only appears at the far end so you have to scroll though all your open tabs to clear them. I'm much more sued to this now, but still prefer the old method. Using split screen is much more awkward than it was previously and now I rarely do this.UPDATE: This is still annoying. The pull down menu is OK. Since you lose some notification bar due to the notch, it would be great if you could choose what went where. The battery optimisation, storage sorting, and digital wellbeing things all work well and are useful in their own ways. You can access the battery info by tapping on the battery icon and this is really useful. You can do this with the clock too but pretty useless if you keep a widget on your home screen.CAMERA: Fine. Some review sites say it's great, some say it's awful, I think it's OK. It takes decent quality pictures and is a little slow, but not irritatingly slow. I have an active toddler and still manage to get photos of him. All this dual camera business is a bit of a gimmick I think. If you really want top quality pics, get a camera.BATTERY: Battery is obviously amazing. Even at the 'slow end' of charging, it's quick. Charged from 66% to full in no time at all. Left it on standby, unplugged, whilst I slept and woke up 6 hours later with 100% battery. 1 1/2 hours later I'm at 96% after watching around 45 mins of video, which drained it, then it hasn't budged since. After some time, this is really noticeable. I've barely had to charge the phone and have found I'm much more comfortable watching videos, using sat nav, listening to podcasts etc. as I don't have that nagging thought of when it might die.UPDATE: Battery is still amazing!MEMORY / PROCESSOR: Phone feels very fast to operate. I don't really play games so can't attest to that, but everything else runs smooth and sharp. Handles a fair whack at the same time and hasn't stuttered a blink so far. Quite a chunk of the internal memory is taken up by Android 9, but with 64GB to play with, an SD card slot, and Google helping to free space all the time - this isn’t a problem.UPDATE: Phone is full of junk now and doesn't feel any slower.JUST TO BE CLEAR, NO NFC ON UK VERSION.VERDICT: Overall very pleased, highly recommended. Potentially my favourite ever phone (or the LG Nexus 5, followed by the Moto G4 Plus).UPDATE JAN 2020: So I broke my G7 Power before xmas. Fell out of my jacket pocket when I took the jacket out of the car. Hit the deck and the screen was obliterated. Surprised by how easy it broke, but then again I had removed the glass protector as it was marked. Turns out it's quite a tough one to replace too part of mine was attached firm to the battery so when removing the plastic the battery burst (nice flames from the 5000amh firework). Now on offer at £129 so looks like I'm buying a replacement!

The Moto G7 is a remarkable device for the price, and whilst it cannot compete with flagship devices in regards to specs/hardware, it offers incredible value compared to the flagships which are 3x the price.TLDR; if you're looking for the best 'bang for your buck' device, yet still want a smart and sleek smartphone, any of the G7 range offer great value, with the G7 Play offering the best value for money*. However, if you can stretch your budget to the higher models, you'll get a sleeker design, an improved display, a better camera set-up and a faster processor*, and these features are more than worth the slightly higher price for many users.-----------------------------------------The Good:-Exceptionally well rounded device for the money- G7 + G7 Plus have sleek and solid construction (looks more expensive than it is)- Fast charging and USB-C (rare at price point)- Camera set-up is good for the price- Clean and simple OS is easy to navigate- Fingerprint reader and face recognition are reliable and snappy- 'Moto Actions' (see picture) can be extremely useful for some- Higher models (G7 & G7 Plus) both feature NFC** (Google Pay, etc)The Bad:- No wireless charging- No 'stand-out' features compared to competition*- Lots of competition at this price point- G7 Play & G7 Power have plastic-heavy builds**(- Lower models (G7 Play & G7 Power) do not feature NFC (Google Pay, etc))-----------------------------------------*- G7 Plus - Most expensive (still good value), highest specs (16+5mp rear cameras, 1080p display), fastest processor (Snapdragon 636), fastest charging (27w 'TurboPower'), Gorilla Glass 3 back and front gives a more premium design- G7 - Best option if you want a balance between specifications/hardware and battery life (1080p display, 12+5mp rear cameras, 15w 'TurboPower', Snapdragon 632), Gorilla Glass 3 back and front gives a more premium design- G7 Power - Best battery life (huge 5000mAh battery, 18w 'TurboPower'), comparatively worse display (720p), same processor as G7 (Snapdragon 632), bulkiest device, plastic construction rather than Gorilla Glass, 12mp single camera sensor- G7 Play - Cheapest, best value, but lacks the performance of higher models (720p display, no 'TurboPower' fast charging), same processor as the G7 (Snapdragon 632), plastic construction rather than Gorilla Glass, 13mp single camera sensor-----------------------------------------Motorola's G series smartphones have always offered a great value alternative to both the very expensive 'flagship' smartphones, as well as the very low end budget smartphones, and the G7 is yet another great 'bang for your buck' smartphone. If you've never owned or never thought about owning a flagship smartphone (~£600+), the Moto G7 is a truly excellent value, relatively inexpensive device. However, if have owned any flagship devices, then don't let the over zealous reviewers fool you, this doesn't come close to those, but that's exactly why they're 3 times the price..The solid construction and smart, sleek design are well additions to the Moto G series, as up to now they've always looked like a budget device. However, all of the G7 models feature Gorilla Glass 3 front and back, and a chrome painted band/frame (which is actually plastic), which combine to give the G7 a much more elegant and premium look and feel compared to previous models. As you can see in the images I've attached, the power button is textured, whereas the volume buttons are not, meaning it's easy to feel which button is which when you're fumbling around in your pocket or in the dark. My personal preference is to have the power button and the volume buttons on different sides of a smartphone, but if they're on the same side, having textured buttons at least makes it easier to differentiate between them.As with most new smartphones, the G7 attempts to shrink the bezels by sporting a 'notch' cutout for the front-facing camera. Whether you love them or hate them, notches are here to stay for while, and the G7's notch is a much sleeker implementation than some of the infamously ugly notches (Pixel/iPhone...), due to its soft edges and how it barely protrudes into on-screen content.Housed within the small notch is the front-facing camera, which, whilst only 720p, can be used as an unlocking method due to face recognition, which works surprisingly fast. If you're not a fan of the relatively insecure face-unlock, the even faster and more reliable fingerprint scanner can be used, and patterns and passwords can also be set up, granting you numerous ways to keep your phone secure. The camera set-up for each device is different (see my rough device break down/comparison above), and all perform adequately well for their respective price-points. For most users, the camera set-up will be perfectly fine, and capture just enough clarity colour accuracy and depth to capture those special moments, but anyone downgrading from a higher end device will miss the features and finesse which the flagships can offer.Whilst the G7 is good at just about everything it doesn't stand-out in a particular field either. Whilst a lot of other devices at this price point may not be as well-rounded, they often excel in a certain field (camera/display, etc). What this means is that unless you're looking for a specific feature/specification at this price point, the G7 is a solid and reliable performer across the board. Additionally, its slight price increase from the G6 is more than justified, due to its more modern, upmarket design and more powerful hardware.

I've been a long time Moto G4S user and I could bear to abandon the karate chop torch gesture, so I got one of these the other day.I've divided this review into a series of questions concerning the factors that are most important for me in a phone. The TLDR of the review is: great value for a long-lasting and quick phone.DOES IT HAVE GOOD BATTERY LIFE? ?===============================The answer here is YES. To illustrate: I got the phone yesterday and charged it fully. 24hrs later and I'm at 68% battery - this is with typical 'new phone' usage: playing with it, installing all my old apps, taking photos to check out the camera, etc. On a typical weekday I could imagine it using less than 30%.The time between charges will be about 2 days for most people. The battery life is really important for me - I often travel and it's nice not to have to worry about bringing along a battery pack. The included turbo charge adapter is a nice bonus - you could probably get the best part of a day's worth of charge in about 15-20 minutes - brilliant for emergencies.DOES IT HAVE VANILLA ANDROID? IF NOT, ARE THE ADDITION FEATURES USEFUL? ?===================================================================The G7 Power runs a lightly modified Android Pie. The changes are pretty unobtrusive compared to over vendors who have full reskins.I said at the start of the review that I love the Moto gestures - karate chop to turn on the torch is one that I use almost every night, and the flick to activate the camera works really well. In addition to those two, there's the smart notification screen which gives you a view of alerts without having to unlock, and the one handed navigation, which works as a good alternative to the traditional three button setup.Overall, it's a good, clean version of Android with a couple of useful extras.DO MOTOROLA UPDATE THEIR PHONES WITH THE LATEST ANDROID? ?=========================================================The answer is...slowly, and sort of. I don't expect to get 11 or maybe even 10 on this in the next couple of years. I believe the G4S is only just getting 9 now. This is the major drawback with Motorola. That said, I used my G4S for around 3 years with an 'old' version of Android and it was OK.IS IT QUICK ENOUGH? ?====================For me, yes. I don't play any 3D games, but I understand that the framerates are pretty high due to the non-full-HD screen. General app and browser usage is snappy enough for me, and noticeably quicker than my old G4S.HOW'S THE SCREEN? ?===================I was concerned that the screen not being full HD would be noticeable, but it genuinely isn't unless you're really pixel-peeping. The screen is bright and sharp, though it does have a slightly cold tint. I expect Moto decided on a slightly lower resolution in order to aid battery life, and I think the compromise was a good one. It's very responsive to touch and it also looks decent at lower brightnesses.IS THE CAMERA ADEQUATE? ?=========================I have a fancy camera if I want really high quality shots. What I want from a smartphone camera is something that can capture clear images in a decent range of lighting conditions, and I think the G7 Power's camera achieves this. It won't compare to a Pixel, Galaxy, or iPhone, but it's good enough for sharing on social media. The 64gb of storage and option for an SD card mean that you can take many snaps without needing to clear out.HOW'S THE DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS? ?‍♀️==================================This is about as basic looking as you can get. A black shiny rectangle with rounded corners. I'm fine with that. I'm looking at the screen, not the chassis. The screen itself has small bezels, though not as small as many of the flagships that are out now.The aspect ratio is a little longer than usual, which is great for viewing vertical pages. At times it can be a bit of a stretch to reach a thumb up to controls at the top because of this length. Overall, I'm enjoying the increase in screen real estate compared to the G4S.The physical buttons are quite small, but they're clicky an easy to differentiate by their length.I quite liked the fingerprint button on the front of the G4S, and I'm still getting used to the one on the back of the Power. It's a little too easy to try and swipe your finger over the camera as they're quite close together and both circular. Not so much a criticism as something to get the hang of.MISC BONUSES:============+ You get a 3.5mm jack if you want to use wired headphones.+ It comes with a clear protective rubber case. It isn't the prettiest, but I honestly don't care about how my phone looks anymore.OVERALL: ?===========This phone is almost perfect for me. Amazing battery life, almost-vanilla android, useful gestures, and good performance in terms of speed and camera. It's a great workhorse and way better value than the other phones in the G7 range. Recommended.

This is hands down an amazing phone. Before buying this I took into account many reviews online and weighed up the pros and cons. Some people mentioned the screen resolution and at first I could notice a slight jaggedness around text or images but I've quickly become accustomed to it, it's not to say the resolution is bad but it's not as sharp as some high end phone's but cmon, look at the price you are paying, it more than adequately does the job! Another area that people mentioned was the camera quality, they said it wasn't the best but I'd have to disagree, I've caught some amazing sharp and colourful pics using the back camera, I'll share one I took today to emphasize my point, this camera is great, though I will admit I haven't had the chance to use it in very low light conditions just yet. The selfie cam I've used in both bright and lowlight situations and though it might not be the best ever it certainly does a great job and I'm more than happy with it. The phone has been buttery smooth since I started using it, loads pages and apps very quickly, haven't noticed any significant flaws so far aside from the occasional ghost in the machine but seriously nothing worth writing home about . The fingerprint scanner has been nothing but a delight from the get go, I've noted maybe two or three failures since I started using it and we all know how many times we unlock or phone's throughout the day no matter how much we want to admit it! So, the reason we are all here looking at this phone, the battery. What can I say about it? Well, honestly, it's simply amazing! It has been years since I have used a phone that doesn't need to be charged every night and to be honest I'm still trying to get used to it. I took this phone off charge at 9am on a Wednesday morning and didn't need to charge it again until Friday afternoon and even at that point it still had 39% charge left. Now in fairness I didn't use the phone as harshly as I would some days but that was still an unreal sight to behold. I seriously couldn't believe it. I'd consider myself a fairly heavy phone user and I can still stretch two days out of this. To put things in perspective, I have adaptive brightness turned off, the screen brightness is turned way up, I have location and gps on all the time and have a smartwatch connected all the time by Bluetooth and the battery is still amazing. I listen to music on Spotify, check emails, send messages, make phone calls, watch YouTube and Netflix on this phone and it still refuses to die. I've been using it solidly for a week and have yet to reach below 10% on it. And even when it does run low, turbo charge has your back. So, the bottom line, this phone has made me completely review my perspective on phones. €1000+ smartphones are simply a mark of status, if you want extreme functionality at a seriously affordable price look no further, this phone has all you want and more. Of course there are some trade offs but seriously, it's negligible, anything you can't do on your phone you can do better on a laptop, PC or gaming console with a 4k TV! I'd recommend this phone to anyone and challenge you to be disappointed. Never again will I part with huge amounts of cash on a phone, this one has firmly changed my mind on that, since I could afford to buy it outright, it enabled me to not be tied to a contract thus reducing my monthly phone bill to €20 from €60. Do yourself a favor and don't fall foul of falling for the consumerism of needing a €1000+ phone when something like this more than adequately does the job. I hope this review helps some people realize how much money they can save by going with this and also as a disclaimer I just want to say I have absolutely no affiliation with Amazon, Lenovo or Motorola whatsoever, I work in the fruit and veg of a supermarket haha! Anyone that follows my advice I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!Edit: something I forgot to mention in my initial review was the volume and speaker. This phone goes pretty loud so you should have no problem hearing music or videos, however, the sound from said speaker can be tinny and sharp and has virtually no bass to it making something's not the most pleasant to listen to. Also the volume level through the speaker is a bit odd, while adjusting the volume say from 50% upwards the volume rises sharply and likewise dips massively when reducing it whereas anything below 50% is pretty much inaudible, well at least to me. Not a huge deal breaker but just something to keep in mind if you like using the loudspeaker on your phone. Still Loving it though.

Fairly long review so I'll try and make it as useful as possible for you lovely folks!I own the Moto G7 Plus and adore it, but my partner loves the white G7, so much that I decided to buy her one. She previously had the Galaxy S8 but when we looked at the S10 it left her completely cold and she wanted something functional and intuitive to use without having the durability and strength of a rich tea biscuit in a hurricane like her S8 did ....... .(1.2 ft drop onto thick carpet smashed the back glass and cost £100 to fix, followed by the screen a few months later at £150).Looks: This is one area that Motorola have hit their stride. The G6 was nice enough looking but the G7 nails it.Gorilla Glass front and back, with a glossy and very understated & classy look. Plastic midframe with a faux metal finish. Teardrop notch which is about as unobtrusive as a notch can be. Single speaker on the bottom of the device. USB C with 18w fast changer on the bottom with *gasp* a headphone jack! Has a Silicone case in the box which looks cheap but is functional! The Spigen one available is a brilliant upgrade.Technical and in use: The phone ships with Android Pie and since purchase the updates have been coming through monthly with no dramas at all. It had 64gb of internal storage and a micro SD card slot in addition to dual SIM capabilities. The UI is crisp and clean and transitions and in use software is sharp and fluid with no lagging to be seen anywhere. The G7 has an 3000mah battery which can comfortably get it through the day with about 30% left over with moderate use, including streaming music through Bluetooth to and from work, navigation through android auto, messages and work emails, social media, calls and a touch of gaming.Pretty impressive. Her S8 had a bigger battery and an amoled screen which should have allowed it to have better endurance than the G7 but this phone beats it.Bluetooth connection stable in both her work car (BMW 3 Series) which can be very finnicky with drop outs and stutters and in my Defender.Camera: For its price point it's very impressive. Very high resolution digital zoom and digital image stabilization. Colours are punchy without excessive saturation and noise is kept to a minimum.Of course a flagship can beat it but look at the price you will be paying and it kicks the butt of most of cameras at the same price point or somewhat above. Incidentally it has the same sensors as the Moto G6 but has had its hardware tweaked and software modified to outperform it as the professional reviews have mentioned.Front selfie camera is very good. Easily on par with the S8.Pitfalls: This is where it's a struggle to respond objectively because both me and my partner are both very satisfied that there are very little things we dislike about the phone. You could argue that for 60 more you could get the Honor play which on paper looks better with a much superior processor, faster charging and a full metal unibody. But when you look at the Play's much inferior camera, proprietary fast charge which requires honors own charger which is near impossible to buy separately, Honor and it's parent Huawei's horrendous reputation for updates and investigations worldwide for spyware within their devices and possible espionage, it takes it out of the running.Plus having trialed the Play myself I can honestly say there is next to no difference in performance in day to day use.If anything I would like to have had the dual speaker set up as per the G7 Plus but it's a small price to pay for a significant price saving.Value for money with this device is spot on! Currently selling for £219.99, what else is in the same bracket that has such a good array of performance and specs and had the professional reviewers and magazines cooing over them? Nothing of note!Best suggestion I can give is give it a try and see! Top job Motorola, can't wait to see the next one!!

I used to have a Samsung Note 4, and this just beats it hands down all the way. If there are any differences in CPU processing power they simply aren't visible in everyday life. The phone simply performs exactly as it should. I get apps launching without any delays, and can switch between them without any probs. In essence this manages everything I want my phone to do. I use it for watching TV/films whilst at a gym, listening to music similarly, google maps occaisionally, some web browsing from time to time (if it's quicker than reaching for a laptop), and of course phone calls and texts. The screen, whilst not full HD, is nonetheless bright and sharp enough that I really can't tell much of a difference from it and my old Note4,which was quad-HD. The camera has provided some excellent day to day pictures, with a quality that is more than good enough for me. Call quality has been excellent, with clear audio in both directions. Texts are equally easy, although I have had some reports of late reception at the other end, it's impossible to tell where this occurs. The build quality seems ab-fab to me. The front screen is gently curved at the edges (2.5D), so screen protectors may leave a bexel gap, but the spread from top to bottom is great. A wide notch at the top for the front camera leaves two 'margins' either side, which are perfect positions for notification icons. The back is a glossy plastic, that does attract finger prints etc, but once encased in a protective case you wouldn't know it. The micro-sim/mem card tray is a little fiddly, so my advice is to keep everything horizontal, and insert it slowly and carefully. The 4Gb ram, and 64Gb of built in storage is far more than I think I can use, but if you want more it takes a micro-SD/TF card. Although a tip here is to get as fast a card as you can afford, to make app performance keep up with the phone. My 64Gb sd card was recognised at once, and I set it up as additional storage, although you can set it up as integrated storage if desired.Last but not least is the simply phenomenal battery life! Wow, what a corker this unit is in those stakes. In day to day usage, I switch off data except when I need it, say to check in for five minutes every few hours. I have the screen off, when in standby, and I switch the phone off entirely overnight. With every new battery I 'educate' it by draining it as low as possible before a full recharge, at least 3 times. What I've ended up with is an average usage before recharging of at least 10 days, yes 10 days, and the screenshots here (courtesy of BatteryBot) are proof of that. In fact nearly 300 hours was achieved, work that out at 24 hours a day.I would certainly reccomend this handset to anyone, what a corker!!

I had been away from smartphones for several years. My ancient Motorola v3 Razr was all I needed between 2014 and 2019, but recently found I needed more functionality. I was surprised. My previous phone was an iPhone 5 back in 2014 and the Motorola moto g7 is easily as good if not better, five years on.It looks and feels like a quality phone. It is zippy when viewing video and its aerial is capable of giving good reception in obscure places, such as behind the very thick old walls of my house., etc. It's about as thick in profile as you want it and its big screen is very clear. It is large in the pocket or bag as a result, but I don't mind that. The battery life is about three days on average, used under what I'd call normal use. I'm not a massive user of social media or the apps on it, so I don't know how this would compare with other people. The charger (turbo) is rapid to say the least. I get a good top up after only 15-mins from empty and an hour is enough to charge it for a full 3-days.The screen is sensitive, the figerprint reader works well and the camera is massively good quality considering its price. It's certainly better than the old iPhone from what I remember going back 5-years. I have a 128 Gb SD card in it for extra memory which was recognised without issue after inserting it, which complements the 64 Gb on-board that comes with the phone.I like its usability. The face recognition is used to keep the phone alive for as long as you're looking at it, which saves you having to rub the screen to prevent it standing down on energy save. The screen luminosity is high but you can set it at whatever level you like and it has a night mode. The way the app screens are laid out is user friendly and intuitive. The built in Motorola actions I never thought I'd ever use, but I do, since they are useful. Email and Internet is a doddle to use on it. The text input for word completion has come on leaps and bounds since I last had a smartphone. The old iPhone regime was a bit mindless at times, completing some words in a very frustrating way. I don't know how this moto g7 compares with other phones, but I'm very happy with the g7 in that direction. It has a dual SIM, so I'm thinking of using the spare slot. It's about three months old now, going strong and I would highly recommend the Motorola moto g7.

I have always previously bought expensive, top of the range, 'flagship' models believing the hype that they were powerful, practical, fast and would help me work efficiently. After problems with a couple of flagship models that had software glitches and needed to go away for repair I bought a cheap budget phone to use in the meantime and was surprised that it still did everything I needed it to do and the battery life was actually better. It was so good I kept using it after the flagship model came back from repair and didn't go back to the flagship phone. So after this experience when replacement time came I decided to buy another budget smartphone - the Motorola g7. It is an excellent phone. It does everything I need it to do. For the usual day to day snaps and family holiday snaps it takes great photos. People comment on how great the photos look when taken in portrait mode and they are really great! I find the phone responsive and easy to use. The screen is nice and bright and sharp. The battery life is really good. Lasts all day without a problem. With the TurboPower it charges really quickly too. Despite being sceptical when I read about them in reviews, I find the Moto gestures for opening the camera and turning on the torch really useful. They work well and save any faffing around when trying to quickly use the camera or torch. The first thing I noticed when I received the phone is how premium it looks. It's a nice slim, sleek shape. It came with a free silicone back cover in the box which I use as it is nice and slim and makes the phone a bit grippier to hold. I don't use the fingerprint reader, I stick with a PIN code so can't comment on that. I love the dual sim as I run my own business and can have a 'personal' and 'work' sim in the same phone instead of carrying two phones. When I want to I can switch off the work sim. I paid £200 for the phone and think it's great value but see it is now down to £180 on Amazon which is even better! I would recommend anyone consider this over a 'flagship' model. You might be surprised how little difference there is in day to day use and you might find as I have that in some ways a simpler phone works better!

I owned an original moto G (which I still own and it still works), so as this was released the same week my current phone decided to stop working, I thought I would give it try. With a sub £200 price tag, its classed as a budget phone but thats just about the only budget thing about it.The battery life was a big selling point for me and I wasn't disappointed. On average, I get 3days between charges with light use and at least 2days with heavy use. The larger battery does add to the weight and with the included case, it does feel quite chunky but its not too bad.Performance is really good as the interface is responsive and apps launch quickly. It even handles minecraft gaming pretty well which really surprised me.The 4Gb ram really helps in this area, as I don't have to frequently close apps and I can switch between them easily while working with emails and social media. The screen is a good size and it is comfortable enough for browsing and watching youtube. The sound is good but there are no external speakers, only ear piece for audio but it does get quite load when playing music or video. I found the call quality to be fine, even in noisy environments. The rear camera is good enough for most things short of professional photography. However, the front facing camera is not so great as it is quite poor quality with focus issues and washed out images. This is probably the only area where this phone falls short. The phone comes with 64Gb of internal storage and there is an SD card slot which allows you to expand the storage. The onboard storage is a real plus as other budget phones cut the corners in this area which then causes problems as Android can fill it up quite quickly.I have always chosen to use a phone as a phone and limited the number of apps I use while using other devices for the majority of my daily tasks but that has changed with this phone as I now find myself using it as my main device. The sub £200 budget phone market is pretty crowded these days but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. I would definitely recommend it.

Upgraded from a three year old phone to this, and tbh it is a major step up. To start with, it is a budget phone (£200 for the phone, memory card, case and screen protectors), so if you are expecting all the bells and whistles of a modern flagship phone, you're looking at the wrong phone. It also does NOT come with nfc on the UK model, but then that's something I have no need for.Pros- the battery on this phone is immense, lasting two days without charging in real world use.The camera, while not top of the range, is more than enough for someone wanting to catch casual images or a snap happy user, maybe not for a budding photographer.Although the specs say android 8, the phone runs on android 9,and comes with minimal bloatware (in house developed apps or apps that cannot be removed), makes a change to find a phone with no Facebook, twitter etc locked in place.Although the phone is large, it doesn't feel particularly heavy, though it can be a struggle to use one handed. The front camera doesn't intrude on the screen, it sits nicely in place with the information on either side.Unlike other phones, the finger print scanner is nicely placed and works well.Cons- the WiFi does suffer from drop out every now and again. This is a minor issue, sometimes hardly noticeable but so far not an issue for me. Hopefully it is something that can be sorted with a later update. So far it isn't possible to turn off the ascending ringtone, apparently this is to protect the speaker, but it is an annoyance. For those who play Pokémon GO or other games, this is pretty much an ideal phone. Large, easy to use screen, compatible with AR and adventure sync and a battery that will last a full day of play. It is a little more sensitive than my last phone on the speed limiter, but that's to be expected on a more up to date system. So far I have marked the G7 power as 4 stars, this is because of the combined cons, mainly the WiFi, which is a shame. Besides those two problems I couldn't fault the phone, although I will try and keep this review updated as time goes by.

This phone is extraordinary. I bought it for work due to the huge battery and it doesn't disappoint.Have been using for over a week now and my thoughts are:Positive:Battery, battery, battery! This phone can go for 2 days of heavy usage.Incredible.It's got a nice, shiny finish even though it's plastic but looks fine. The processor is fast enough- it's an average Snapdragon 632 but for the price it's fine and gets me through the day.Negative:Display is average. It's not good for watching videos or movies. It ain't easy to find a screen protector for this phone. I bought 2 different ones and both couldn't cover the screen properly leaving the edges exposed. The camera is pretty mediocre and slow and it doesn't have a 4k video. The speakers, unlike the awesome stereo speakers on Moto g7 plus, are so low that you would only hear it in a room. The face recognition and fingerprint sensor are rather temperamental. They don't work consistently. You can still use them but they are irritating at times. It's bulky. I mean, I've got big hands but even for me it's a slightly difficult to hold it and navigate through apps with one hand. It's also heavy. It's the biggest and heaviest of the Moto g7 series. The case I got for it doesn't exactly fit and while it protects it against a drop,it does make it a little difficult to use the side power button and volume buttons above it.It states it's got fast charge and it comes with a funky 15W charger, but as I suspected considering the whopping 5000 mAh battery, it's just normal charge. It charges for about an hour and a half to two hours. Not really fast charge,is it? But it lasts, lasts, lasts! That matters more to me here.Bottom line is this: I bought this phone because it lasts longer than ANY phone I or you can think of. It's that good in this regard. It's just awesome. Motorola made cuts in a few places but that was to be expected. If you need a phone to work with, this phone is the one. If it's for leisure time and everyday use, I wouldn't recommend it.

Had my Motorola G5 for 2 years and was very happy with it, but I have to admit, it was a little small, the G7 Power has exceeded my expectations, the camera is an upgrade from the G5 in every department, I've posted selfie and main camera pictures I've taken, it's more than good enough for the pictures I take, good selfie camera too, the screen looks lovely, I use Sky Go with no issues and it's a sharp crisp picture.Good size screen, the battery life isn't a lie, some days I use less than 10% battery it's that good, type C charger better than micro SD ?, Doesn't make a difference to me personally, but I'm sure someone will know why it's better ?Charges extremely quickly and can be left plugged in overnight with no issues,it regulates its charge requirements itselfNegative point, the change of position of the fingerprint scanner to the back is a negative for me as I'm used to flip cases and I can't use 1 with this as they open to the left and using my right finger on the back feels extremely alien, I hold the phone with my left hand and used to use my right finger on the front of the G5 to unlock it, now have a solid case that doesn't close , rather than a flip case and hold and open the phone with my left finger on the back, I prefer the front, apparently the majority want the scanner on the back though, so I'm probably in the minority, the reader itself is seemless, hence 5 star rating for performanceSo 1 negative only, bigger, faster, longer lasting battery, nicer screen and a ridiculously low price and go on YouTube it outperforms phones twice the cost regularly in head to head tests.I will add you can't pay for things like apple pay with this, I don't use it anyway and genuinely can't say I intend to in the future, but it is important for some peopleAll I can say is buy this phone you'll not regret it, it's absolutely brilliant

I have been checking out phones for the last 3 months as my old Samsung started to date and I was concerned it would not last much longer, so, should I stick to Samsung because my 4 year old phone had done me well, or should I now look at other manufacturers? The most important factor for me was price, I set my budget at £200, I don’t see why I should pay £500 + for a phone when all I need is, well, a phone. Whilst searching phones in this budget, and reading tons of reviews, I kept coming back to the Moto g7, but it was priced at £219, so I was left searching for the eventual phone that was within my budget. On the very day that I thought I’d better hurry up and choose something soon, the Moto g7 price dropped to below £200, this now made my task easy and I ordered immediately. Now for the phone review, the size of the phone for me is perfect, my old phone was 5.2 inches and the Moto g7 is much bigger and better, easy to hold and fits my hand very comfortably. The screen is better than I thought, very sharp and bright. The weight is also nice and it easily fits in my pocket. Using the phone is fast enough for me, downloads are quick and the camera is decent. I really am happy, in fact I can’t put it down, for under £200 this puts other expensive phones to shame. There must be one negative surely? There is, the notification does not have a dedicated volume, it is tied into the ring volume which I have set at its loudest, so the notification is too loud, a search online recommended an app to solve, but I shouldn’t really have to do this, but this is minor. Would I recommend this phone, an easy yes, I’ll give it 9 out of 10 on my scale, if the notification volume was added, I would have given it 9.5, that’s impressive.

I received this on release date and first impressions are amazing. I'll try and break down the good and the bad, for a little lighter reading than a big essay!Good: -Battery Life (This thing is immense!); I'll charge this overnight, use it all day (Pokemon Go for 2-3 hours), check emails, make calls etc and by the time I go to bed it's still hovering about 80%, whereas my G5S Plus would be about 20%!Wi-Fi Calling; The G7 Power supports Wi-Fi calling. I enabled this and EE does support it!Signal; The signal on this phone seems vastly improved over the G5S Plus for both GPS and MobileFingerprint scanner; This seems to work brilliantly, and the reaction time seems pretty good!Bad: -Wireless Connectivity; This seems to "drop" a fair amount.I would assume it's a bug on the current version of the OS. I don't class this as a big issue.Weight; This thing isn't light. That's to be expected for a phone with a 5000mAh battery though, so it's not really a negative.Size; Again, a bit like the above, it's a large phone. I generally prefer them a little smaller, so I can one-hand everything (I'm 6"3 with fairly large hands), but it's quite difficult on this with the weight as well. Again, that's no deal-breaker for me though.Overall, as you can see, for £180 I think this phone is an absolute beast. Does everything I ask of it and more. It does have some negatives, and I would have liked some IP-rating for some extra protection, but it is what it is.. A budget phone, and I'm more than happy with it!

I upgraded from my Motorola G4 Plus to the new G7, quite an amazing price even on Prime Day, and Amazon's model has dual SIM which is great. Sure you might not have the whistles of a top flight phone, but it definitely has most of the bells that you need and quite frankly I value what I need from a phone, rather than paying twice as much for what I want.Saw a few comments about NFC, mine came with NFC but with the Motorolas, NFC does include battery charging, but only to support Google Pay. So as long as you know this, then you won't get stressed whether it has NFC or not when you receive it.Takes a bit of time getting used to the fingerprint button on the back of the phone. When you code it up,make sure you have the back cover installed otherwise you'll end up re-coding the fingerprints again, as the cover changes the angle that your finger hits the button. My G4 had the fingerprint at the front of the phone which was really convenient especially when driving, but looks like I can't check my phone easily when driving with the G7. I guess this is legally better anyway.Got some nifty features with Andriod 9.0 Pie with some new Moto Gesture options, I quite like the "Talk to Me" which activates when at home or driving, and the "Face Recognition" to unlock the phone by just picking it up.Haven't explored all its features yet but I think it has quite a few nifty features on its camera too.Great phone at a great price, more than what I need.
