We first discovered this toy at a home-educators resources exchange day, and I couldn't get my then 4 year-old son away from the table where Zoob was being displayed. So I decided I would get him a couple of Zoob sets for his 5th birthday (this one and the car designer set) and we're not disappointed! He absolutely loves this toy, as does all the family, all the way up to grand-dad, who is 81! I've had a lot of fun with it too. I really enjoyed building the helicopter model that is shown on one of the booklets that comes with this (it would be a bit hard to build for a 5-year old, but my son has really enjoyed playing with the helicopter and doesn't want to dismantle it). It's a great way to play with my son, without getting bored or feeling I should be doing some housework instead. If finances allow it, I would recommend a Zoob set with wheels, such as Car Designer, to go with this one, as it makes it even more fun and the child (and adults!) can build cars, tractors, robots on wheels, etc. Once built, they can be played with, so you can create your own toys again and again! I can imagine my son building up on the 2 sets we got him and creating more and more complex models as he grows. This is even better than Lego (and we're big fans of Lego!). We highly recommend this set, or other Zoob sets.

We were given a smaller set of Zoobs a couple of years ago and thought they were great but as my daughter grew older the limitations of a small set were more apparent so we wanted more! The first thing she made with this was the bike which even has wheels that turn - one of the many bears now rides it. The other bonus of having lots of Zoob bits is that you don't have to destroy something to build another. Good cooperative play thing as different folk can do different bits of the construction or count out pieces so something I could see siblings working on together. Some connections are difficult to make so a five year old would need a helper. Upper age limit? Granddad likes it too.

ZOOBS are FANTASTIC, we purchased this set and a couple of the sets with wheels for our 6 year old son for christmas. He loves them. He has got some of the other building kits from lego to bionicles but enjoys playing with these the most. He makes some of the things in the leaflets as there are many ideas but also enjoys making loads of his own creations. We have just ordered the 500 kit as its on sale so its going away for christmas. Bright toy with loads of playability, very strong and just the thing to keep hands and minds busy for hours. Get a couple of kits and see how you go then get more as they are great for a group to play with as they share ideas too. Great for schools.

We bought the first box of 250 Zoobs nearly 2 years ago for our eldest grandson for his 7th birthday. They had been suggested by their Mum and some friends. Two years later our grandson has added to the collection and a day rarely goes by when he isn't concocting something out of these things. He's also into Warhammer and Zoobs make great monsters, I've also seen a row of lifelike scorpions, several spaceships and 'soldiers' made from them. I cannot fault this product, it gives HOURS of amusement and if you have a child who loves constructing things, Zoobs, although not cheap, will more than repay the initial expense. A toy that is still being used 2 years later can't be bad!

These are fantastic! Bought them for my 4yr old son who's not into lego, but is fascinated by transformers. Wanted something he could construct, and use his imagination. These are great. Endless possibilities easy for him, and his 5 yr old brother, to put together and take apart. We've made, robots, crowns, ladders, transformers, lasers..you name it. And when they discovered the green ones can make a slightly expandable wand they were in superhero heaven. Best of all, we've all been down on our knees making stuff. You name it you can have a go at constructing it. Can't say enough good things about this. It's the gap between lego and meccano we've been looking for.

I bought this for my lego crazy son (aged 6) for Christmas, as an alternative construction toy and he has loved it. As well as following the informative instruction leaflet, he has also gone on to create his own makes and is now wanting more to make bigger things. A great toy to take away on holiday as you are not worried about losing bits and can be tidied away easily. Colours are bright and are easy to click in and out as well as being sturdy as a finished construction. I would highly recommend Zoobs, it's just a shame they are not so readily available in the High Street. A great present for any child aged 5 - 9 and maybe beyond, just great fun.

I bought this for my son who is 6, as an 'add-on' for xmas (he was looking for wii games and nintendo ds games for xmas) and it is the best thing ever! He literally hasn't stopped playing with it since xmas morning and while he has needed assistance to make the more difficult toys, he has come up with his own ideas and played endlessly with it! The only downside is that the information/instructions supplied were in German only - you can still follow the pictures, but information/instructions in English would have been handy! But still, the enjoyment he has had from playing with it by far offsets the deduction of a star!

When these were opened by my son on Christmas morning, I was very dubious about the box and the shape of the pieces. However, several hours later, fingers sore from frantic clicking, I realised that this was a toy my children would use and use.Since then, we've had all sorts of creations from crowns to Tyrannosaurus Rex to swords.....The instruction booklets that come with the box give you a list of all the different joints, both static and moving, that can be made together with picture guides to make increasingly complex creations. This is a versatile and compulsive toy. A big hit with my two boys!

We bought this for our two year old grandson (Yes - TWO!) for his third birthday next week. They really are ideal for very young children through to adults. We discovered them in a holiday cottage we stayed in. They are an excellent alternative to Lego; The parts are very hard to lose too! I can't believe that more people haven't discovered these. Buy the big tub so that you have lots of bits to start with (and a tough and easily storable box to tidy them into) and just add extra bits if you find you want/need to. I don't recommend anything lightly, but these are excellent.

Bought this for my two sons for Christmas - they absolutely love it.This comes in a nice container box and has a booklet showing how to make all the different sort of things. This item has kept my two sons (5 and 3 year old)very busy. I like the Zoobs because is was a good alternative to lego as once you lock the pieces together they do not come apart easily - both my sons get very frustrated with lego as the parts are very small and come apart very easily.A good toy to have.

I bought this construction toy for my 5year olds birthday. He loves it and has not stopped playing with it since. I bought it in March for him,He spends ages making rockets, robots and inevitable guns, must be a boy thing that.!The only quible I have with this is does have a tendency to snap at the end clippy bits. But this could be due to the fact that it got stood on as it was scattered all over the floor. But all in all a worth while toy for the young builder in the family.

My son got this for his 6th birthday. He really likes it and to be honest I've had quite a lot of fun too! It csn be fiddly snd doesn't have the same ability to inspire imaginative play as Lego. A few pieces have cracked but it is quick to put together and less likely to get lost than knex/lego etc. I'm looking forward to finding out what the wheels (from a different set) are like as I think he will like making cars more than shapes

Big hit with my 4.5 yr old boy!We have duplo, lego, stickle bricks and blocks etc but tired of lego and duplo not sticking together well. (Not made like it used to be!). Didn't feel he was ready for mecharno (?spelling) or k,nex yet. These are great. He found it easy from word go to construct them so dexterity not an issue. Good toy for those who like to construct and great for the imagination. I'm really happy with these.

A very creative invention. These blocks come in various different shapes (colors) and allow you to build millions of different things. The addition of rotating/swiveling parts adds to the possibilities. The instructions come with about a dozen different examples of things to build - just enough to get you thinking how to build your own creations. Very nice and the kids (4 1/2 and 7) seem to enjoy them.

My son had a selection of the smaller sets of zoobs for christmas and he liked them so much i decided to add to them. This set if yet again a fantastic buy, great storage case with loads of playability.
