Bear in mind, there is no remote control with this set. There is however a rudimentary motor which you build into your construction.I agree with a previous reviewer: this set comprises of a large portion of rigid plastic parts as opposed the their usual metal equivalents.I don't see this as a huge problem, it makes it all the more versatile. Hence it's a 25 in 1 set.The plastic parts are strong and durable - the quality you would expect if you're a longterm Meccano user, like us.A portion is also made of *flexible*, bendy plastic parts. These are necessary to make the set accommodate so many different models in one box and I think the mix of metal and plastic in this set looks rather funky on the builds.These can be snapped if bent too much if you have fiddly children,

To be clear, this is NOT remote controlled.There are actually instructions included for just two versions, but the rest are available on the website - I imagine this will be a lot trickier to use unless you print them off.There are definitely some trickier parts to the basic build though the included tools, the nut holder in particular, do the best they can to help.Getting the tyres onto the wheels is not for the fainthearted and required levering with a screwdriver to complete.Once built the battery compartment is inaccessible so changing the batteries is going to require an almost complete disassembly.To be honest the fun comes from building the thing.

You know meccano was great when I was a kid. It was metal, and tangible and you could make anything with it. The principles of good model / engineering / design making are updated for 2019 with this pack, with the addition of a motor and the potential to make a variety of different designs.The stuff is less metal more plastic now, but this is good quality stuff. There are lots of parts to lose (but this was always the way) so work from a tray and be sure you have everything before you start.The designs are great 3in the box and a bunch more online and the instructions are clear and a little taxing.

Bought this for my 11-year old son. He could build most of it, but there were parts where he needed help (especially putting the tyres on, connecting the LED pipes to the engine and the axle with its gears to the engine).Definitely more like half a day's work and not 2-3 hours. The metal parts are nice, and the model itself is beautiful. There was 1 piece missing, but we could work around it as a temporary fix and have contacted Spinmaster Customer Support for this. Let's see how they will respond.There is no room for error when putting in the rear axle, and a (too) tight fit overall between axle, cog wheels and washers. Because the alignment is not 100%, there is too much friction around the rear axle,

Originally got this for my ten year old but my seven year old loved it too. They joined forces and built all afternoon. Bedtime was full of chat about what they could build next. They bounced out of bed and spent most of Saturday reinventing the original designs to come up with their own supercar which they are both delighted with. Guaranteed way to keep them away from computers for a few hours. Tempted to buy another set so they can build an even bigger version and have even more Meccano fun.

Meccano not just for kids had so much fun building this super car once I started didn’t won’t to stop good quality pieces and instructions where step by step and very clear the only thing I would say is the instructions doesn’t say when to but the batteries in the motor so I’m glad I did before I started to build as it all has to be taken apart to change batteries, there is so many car/ trucks to build but only instructions for three of them so you would have to use your imagination

I brought this for my 10 year old grandson. It gets him thinking about how to put it together and how it works. It makes him think and use his brains and it's educational. I would highly recommend toys like this because they get great satisfaction in seeing the end product and pride in the thought that they have built this themselves and at the end it's a toy to play with and there are so my different designs that they can change it into so therefore never getting bored with it.

Really good fun to build and can be challenging. A good kit to build for adult enthusiasts as well. Be aware that you need to put batteries in the main motor at the start but will be unlikely to retrieve them as the complex model is built around the motor. Also be careful how the clear optic fibres are used the instructions may need a photo example. A good challenge and large model although the black tyres can be a real stubborn block forced on to the wheels.

This was the first my son used Meccano and he loved it although it is not remote control. Also the car is quite slow, it is still fun to play with. What you might not like is that it is almost impossible to take out the batteries the only way you can is if you take almost the whole car. Long time to build. Recommended for people who have patience and are up for a challenge.If possible could you make the car faster and a remote control version?

I let my 11 year old son loose on this and he was amazed at how many designs of cars he could male from 1 box. Hes used to 3 in 1 Lego sets. It took him an hour to decide to make thw vert last one on the box.Once he had settled with that he then got a tray and sorted out all the pieces. His words were "cool" and fun. It took 2 hours and then he took it apart and made a different design. Ive mever k own him to do that with a lego set.

Good model comes with a motor to drive 2 wheel (batteries not included) You can only make one model at a time but the most disappointing part of this set is the instructions they are great at how to build the models the problem is that in the box there is only instructions for 3 of the 25 models and you have to go to some website and look up the other 22 if you wish to make something different.

Bought for my partner who loves to tinker and build. Extremely good value for money having 25 designs in one, however having said this you only get instructions for 3 out of the 25 the rest you have to go online to obtain. Bare this in mind if buying for a person who doesn't do computers. Apart from that he's spent hours building the different designs and loves it. I would definitely recommend.

An excellent construction set for all ages above 12yrs, without adult assistance. The possibility of building up to 25 different vehicles which are motorized. All parts seem to be tough enough n well designed for purpose. One criticism being that the battery pack is inaccessible once fitted so batteries need loading beforehand n thus if run down can’t be changed without deconstructing vehicle!

Great product from mechano my son and I are really looking forward to building this over the holidays as usual with mechano it is great quality the only drawback is it can be v fiddly so an adult helper is needed my 10 year old wouldn't be able to compleat it by himself it is also good that you can make so many different things with the same set it will keep us busy for hours and hours

Really good quality and hours of fun building the model. There are some really fiddly bits which my 11 year old son needed my help for as he kept dropping the nuts and bolts, but he really enjoyed building the model. There are many designs to pick from and we loved the battery power and flashing lights etc. We will definitely be buying more sets to go with this one
