World Snooker Championship is visually, a great Snooker sim and a really achievement. I have grown up playing a fair amount of Snooker / Pool and have generally enjoyed Snooker sims - Virtua Snooker comes to mind. When I started up WSC I did what I normally do with a new game - plunge straight into it. I started up the exhibition game and delved straight in. The first thing I noticed was that the aids used in the game don't make the game ludicrously easy as some other games once did, but does allow you to learn the basics of the game reasonable well. The aiming device gives you a broad impression of where the ball is going to go,without being too specific and doesn't give you too much indication where the cue ball is heading. The revision for this game over the previous years example was the addition of the thumb stick control for power, now I still haven't gotten used to this although I really wish I could as adding this kind of "feel" into the game adds a real dimension of realism that increases both the playability and the enjoyability of the game. However, I found this control to be jerky and all to often either barely moved the cue ball or sent it speeding around the table at speeds more used to an F1 track. The game itself is tough, and really takes some time to get used to. I found myself drifting off a lot of the time to play the excellent Pool sim side game. I found this really enjoyable and a lot easier to get to grips with. As with real life Pool is an easier game to pick up but no less difficult to master...Overall this is a quality sim, worthy of your money, but do be aware it takes some commitment to get any good at it, don't expect to be knocking in centuries after a few hours...

In my opinion, the best ever version of snooker on any console, bar none.I know my way round a real snooker table (not going to brag about highest breaks etc.) and video game wise, I'm one of those that doesn't play first person (yawn) shooters. Nope. Not I. I'm into sport simulations mainly (some war games too but, another time . . .. ) and it goes back to the beginning of computer games. One notable snooker game appeared on the ZX Spectrum 48k in 1987. The amount of spin you could put on the ball was insane . .. .sadly the game was very prone to crashing. One or two other playable, though hard to play games appeared on the Commodore 64, Amiga etc. Then, in 2000 World Championship snooker on the Playstation 1.Suddenly, a very good snooker game had appeared ! Now, it reached it's zenith with this game; all others released after have been poor and lost the point. Ok, examples. A mate who has the later xbox's invited me round each time he bought versions of this game. A pointless white ball appears showing you your position of the white after next shot. Commentary is terrible. Animation unchanged. It crashed ! Oh, there are issues galore, you can read them elsewhere. I still use my xbox. Simply can't see any other games I like the look of on the later xbox's. As I said, in my opinion, this is the best snooker game of all time.

I purchased this after a review in Official Xbox Magazine which rated it as good.I usually only play the likes of Rainbow Six Three, Halo etc so this I would have been the last game I thought would have enjoyed but I sometimes like to try a different game to see what it is like.I have never played any of the previous snooker games so this was my first try at this sort of game.I am astounded how enjoyable it is, without reading the instructions it is so simple to play and get in to.You can quickly start to get small breaks and you soon realise you can play with as much or little skill as you want, it really has depth. The graphics are fist class and really looks like you are watching the telly at times.I am converted to Snooker,a really enjoyable aand easy to get into game that keeps me amused for hours on end.Give it a go, you may just enjoy it also.

i bought this game quite a while ago...then i took it back to the store and bought another game, then three weeks ago i noticed it in the shop as preowned for only a tenner. so i thought i'll buy it as it was quite a while ago that i had it, now i've realised that it is such an amazing game. i no it is hard against the comp but i love a challenge. so i stuck too my task and now i am winning quite regually... wich is unusall for me as because i am not a big gamer. im not even a big snooker fan, but i think now it is cheaper it is easily worth your money. i just want to know if anyone thinks that the 2004 version made by codematers is better?
