If you like snooker then you will love this game. The ball physics and general realism of the game is very good. I think the coaching facility on it is excellent and a great introduction on how to play certain shots. I think they have definately got the balance of making it not too hard so you can make good breaks but you you have to work for them. The main problem i have with it at the moment is that it is quite a slow game and takes a long time to line up shots, i would imagine the pc version would be slightly better for this but im only guessing. Also the computer doesn't play in a very realistic way, against the lesser people they will play perfect snooker and have the cue ball coming off 3 cushions with lots of side and landing in perfect position, then they will miss the black off the spot. The computer can also play backspin shots with the white right on the cushion without raising the butt of the cue.The commentary is awful but saying that i've never played a game with good commentary. It is very tedious, predictable and uninteresting. Dennis Taylor can also be commentating whilst he's playing which i found interesting. The main game is career mode where you play a season on the proffesional circuit and pick up ranking points to help gain positions in the world rankings. I am not far into this game and my ranking is only 55 out of 70. I made it to the semi final of the china cup where i faced Mark King, in this best of 5 game match he made 3 centuries back-to-back. I hope this is not consistant with all the players in the top 16 and due to the fact that i had a low ranking so it made sure i would lose. If it is and thats what Mark King can do against me i don't want to ever play the likes of Ronnie O' Sullivan, he'll probably make back-to-back 147s.The claim to have "photo realistic" faces on their players is a bit far fetched as well. They do look like people, just not the people they are supposed to.But even though there are a few bad points to the game it is a must for any snooker fan and is very addictive once you have got into it. A few little things that need changing but it has the potential to be a very good game.

Yes, its finally here, and about time too. The first snooker sim on XBOX and it is a real gem of game. It features 70 players (25 of which are real pros such as Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ken Doherty, Mark Williams and Fergal O'Brien). It has varying levels of difficulty, but has an ingenious aiming aid to assist you which can be changed according to the level that you achieve. If you are like me and like an easy life then leave it on beginner! The graphics are top notch, accurately detailing all the players, their realistic syles of play and animations. For example Rocket Ronny will attack whilst you may well fall asleep waiting for someone whos defensive who ponders their shots. The crowd is mush better this time. Not just a 2D cardboad cut outs, but realistic, indivisually moving and clapping and cheering at the relevant times. The pool mode is also a godsend. You can choose 8 ball UK rules or 9 ball US rules. Quite brilliant idea. So to sum up, brilliant game with nice graphics, and a must buy for all XBOX owners. If you are PS2 owner, then you may want to think twice, or even exchange 2002 with this! Enjoy! I know I have!

This game has taken Snooker and Pool games to another level. The AI is good, the ball physics is good the players even look like the people they are meant to be. The AI makes this game very challenging even at the easiest difficulty setting. The commentry has also been improved (and those of you who don't like it will be glad to hear that you can turn it off). The Pool element is also good, with both 8 and 9 ball versions. Now to the only slight problems. The graphics on the table (the table top, the balls, the pockets) are excellent, but the rest of the scene well, frankly isn't. The movement of the players is very jerky and badly animated, as well as slow (it takes ages for players to return to there seat.Luckily you can speed it up). The referee also has the same 'I hate my job' voice from the first game. But appart from those little problems which you could easily live with, this is a very good game and you should consider adding it to your collection.

I was keen and eager to see how codemasters encorporated a snooker and pool sim onto the XBox. But I have to say I am impressed. Here are the strong and weak points for you all:-STRONG POINTS:-===============+ Very Good Graphics+ Realistic Animations+ Crowd are 3D rather than 2D+ Over 70 players to choose from (including 26 real pros)+ Good create your own character mode+ Better career mode+ Very realistic+ 8 Ball UK pool & 9 ball USA poolWEAK POINTS:-=============- AI at times, is frustrating- Can proove to be really testing at times- Slow match pace- No career mode in Pool Section- Could get boringOVERALL:- Very good game indeed. Highly recommended. The only real problems is difficulty.I found on easy, even playing world rank number 70 was hard. But practice makes perfect. A lot of practice, though!

Championship Snooker - ripped apart by XBOXWORLD for poor graphics, uninteresting gameplay, "only slightly better than leaving your XBOX turned off", likend to "Antiques Roadshow and Songs of Praise with a bit of Bullseye: The Game thrown in" and given a 5/10 review. Yet on it's release it cleared the shelves (and they say snooker is the sport of dull men!). My advice when you consider purchasing this album is... "do!".Although the visuals (at times) revert back to that of the first PlayStation - the gameplay stands alone; carefully drawing you in, making you forget important appointments and generally getting you hooked!Buy it,you won't be disappointed (unless you want amazing graphics with a poorly developed game which you find too easy).

I played last years version of this snooker game and i thought it was the best snooker game well the best game just got better. This game has everything the last game had and more in this game u have the 25 plus professional players, the intuitive control system, the fun games and the trick shots. But they have also introduced eight ball and nine ball pool which makes this game even better and along with the new camera angels it looks and plays like the real thing. This game is a must for any fan of snooker and it brings u as close to the real thing as u can possibly get.
