Like many people I was searching for quite a while for a suitable laptop backpack. I have been through 3 targus ones I was given by my company for nothing, and in the end decided to spend my own money and get a decent one that would last as I travel a lot. From what I read on this site and others, this backpack seemed to be really well made and excellent quality. I was not let down. This is built to last, I have used this for 3 months, travelled between Belgium and London on the Eurostar with it loaded and it's not even showing the slightest signs of wear and tear. It has many pockets which is handy to keep all of your laptop accessories, as well as travel documents and anything else you can think of.I have a 11.5" laptop but opted for this size as I wanted to put extra items in when I travel. There is a negative to that, I end up taking stuff I wouldn't have carried before due to amount extra space.I cannot fault this for build, design and quality, the only word of warning I would give is you need to keep your wits about you, as it's quite a flashy bag and in 4 months there have been 2 attempts to steal the bag. These were more opportunistic, and may never happen to you, but as I mentioed, it certainly turns heads and in that sense does draw attention to you. On the positive side, the first theft attempt involved someone trying to pull it off my shoulder, I had a firm grip on it and they could not get it. The bag did not even show signs of coming apart and I was convinced had it have been a lesser quality item the strap would've broken and I would've lost it.The only thing you need to bear in mind is the 2nd compartment in front of the laptop one will reduce in size if you stuff too much in with the laptop. For me this did not warrant a negative impact as I kind of expected this, and I tend to put more bulkier items in another bag when I travel.

I've been struggling to find a decent bag for my laptop because it is a 17.3" gaming laptop (MSI G Series), and therefore is larger than 'normal' sized laptops (its dimensions are H2.5 x L42 x W29 cm). I LOVE this bag.Pros:- Is isn't too bulky when it's not full of loads of stuff, but has loads of pockets and storage (it will easily take your laptop, chargers, phone, books, lunch and so on).- It holds a large gaming laptop, but I don't think you would get one much bigger than mine in it (see my dimensions above).- The laptop is secured by velcro in a padded pocket. In terms of other storage:- There is a large centre pocket that would easily hold an iPad,or a couple of fairly large folders.- A smaller half sized pocket is perfect for passports, phones, wallets etc.- There is a large front pocket that is designed to contain stationary, and would easily fit in a packed lunch or similar- Two sides pockets also provided easy-to-access additional storage. and are ideal for bottles of water.- The build quality is exceptional. The carry-handle is steel rope, the zips appear to be heavy duty, and the straps are very strong (and adjustable).- Apparently it is water resistant but I'm not trying that one out whilst it's holding all my gadgetry!- The back of the bag has pads on it to make it extra comfortable to wear.- Apparently is also of a suitable size to take as hand-luggage on an aircraft (but double check this)- P.S It DOESN'T have a trolley as claimed in the description (which would have been a bit weird frankly).- It looks really very funky!Cons- The sides, but not the bottom, of the laptop section are paddedI would highly recommend this product. For a price you get A LOT of bag and features for your money, and this thing is robust as you'd expect from Wenger (manufacturers of Swiss Army Knives).

I purchased this bag back in 2008 as I was travelling a lot with my job and wasn't happy with the standard over the shoulder bag I got with my work laptop. This bag was great as it had enough space for my laptop and cables and all of the documentation I have to carry around with me. In addition to that, there's loads of small pockets and compartments to hold all of your bits and pieces. There's a decent sized compartment to fit your passport, iPod and headphones, a couple of side pockets to hold your drink and umbrella, a larger pocket for your books... you get the idea. The bag has been on countless trips to the continent and back, it's been lugged to Hong Kong and back a couple of times, chucked in the back of my car without too much care or attention (as the lappy is nicely padded and protected) and took it all without any major issues, other than some splitting on the carry handle which was not a problem. Then, just recently one of the clips which holds the straps of the rucksack snapped clean down the middle, which meant the end of the road for my trusty bag. It was a shame but it had lasted me well so I wasn't disapointed. I purchased another Swissgear bag as I was impressed with the brand and knew it would last me and when my new bag arrived I noticed a card stating 'SwissGear lifetime guarantee'. I wondered whether I'd be able to get my old bag repaired to either use as a spare or to pass onto my other half so I sent a warranty request with some photos to Swissgear.Imagine my surprise when I received a mail from SwissGear saying they would honour the warranty request, and a new bag was in the post! Three days later, and I'm now the very happy owner of two SwissGear bags... now I just need to decide which one I want to keep for myself.Seriously, what awesome service. Get one, it will last you for ages!

This is the first time I have ever really reviewed a product from Amazon, or anywhere else for that matter, but for this, I couldn't resist. It really is the best of the best. The large backpack is the perfect size to fit everything you'd need whether it be going to and from work, going on a short business trip, or for me, travelling home from University for a weekend. You'll find plenty of room for all your essentials and more. I manage to fit a weekend worth of clothes, my laptop, external hard drive, large text books and folders etc with plenty of room. Also I would like to point out that I have a Dell XPS 15 (a 15.5 inch laptop)and when in it's slip cover it fits nicely in the bag's 17 inch pocket so you don't need to worry about the size too much. The build quality is absolutely amazing and really is built to last. Swiss Gear haven't cut any corners with the materials used either which give it a super rugged feel. Built like a tank!In addition, there is great padding on the backpack just where it's needed, not only to protect your tech but also on your back to make it really comfortable to carry.I have been extremely happy with this backpack and although it's expensive (for a student anyway!) it's definitely worth it. You really do get what you pay for and I wont be shopping for another bag in a while as I think this one's going to last forever! If you looking for the mother-ship of all laptop backpacks then this is the one for you.

This is my second Wenger/swissgear bag.I bought one last xmas for my smaller 15" laptop and its been my work bag with a laptop in it every day since.Showing no signs of wear, this would most definately be down the excellent build quality of these bags.Yes they are a little more expensive than some others, but ultimately you get what you pay for.So on purchasing a newer 17" laptop more recently, there was only going to be one bag I looked for, and it would be this one right here.Amazon prime membership saw it delivered on a sunday, day after I ordered it (thanks amazon).Basic looking package when arrives but dont let that fool you. Takes my 17" laptop snuggly and room for all my other office type stuff,as well as my bluetooth speaker, charging cables, Ipad, phone, wallet, lunch etc.The shoulder straps are very well designed to allow a bit of give when you pick the bag up (simple but clever design) kind of like a spring. The top handle is strong and robust (and you can see a high tensile poly coated cable running inside this). Its also designed to be large enough to fit over suitcase/luggage handles for those longer trips away.So to sum up, great bag, fantastic build quality with fair protection for your shiny stuff. If you are looking for something strong and robust but is not a hard case/bag then this is for you. Better than a rucksack, easier than a hard laptop back to use for the busy professional.

I have owned various Swissgear (Wenger) laptop bags but this one beats them all to the ground. I wanted something that could take my 17" laptop, and this does the job superbly, but in the same compartment there is enough space to put my other 14" laptop, and that is also protected!I would have liked just a tad space more in the 2nd compartment, but I suppose that would make the bag overly big, and maybe I am already taking much of its space by putting my 2nd laptop in there as well, but it can still carry 2 notepads and at least one hardcover book, plus a slim folder. Finally, all the extra little pockets are very handy for things like a usb HDD, ipod etc.It is built to last!Like all my other Wenger gear this will last for years! It is very comfortable with very wide, padded straps and very nice back. My only complaint is that this is a very heavy bag, and I load it with about 12kg of stuff every day. So it would do with a chest strap to latch between the shoulder straps, but it doesn't and that is my complaing. Other than that, this bag is unbeatable in comfort! Oh, and it also stands upright as well!

I bought this backpack to house my (very bulky) Alienware M17x R4 laptop. After around a year of using a cheap messenger bag, I decided that a more quality product was in order.First, the bad part, the shock resistant pocket in the back of the backpack is not large enough to accommodate my laptop. I searched around and read several reviews which indicated it would probably fit, however the pocket is too small. This was a disappointment, however I decided to keep the backpack based on the quality of the rest of the product.I have now used this backpack for a month or two and it is very comfortable to wear. Despite utilising almost every pocket, it distributes the weight nicely with the wide shoulder straps. The bottom of the laptop compartment at the back also offers protection at the bottom, even without the shock resistant pocket being used.Overall, despite the let down of the shock resistant pocket being too small, this is nonetheless a very good backpack with lots of storage space available.

Brilliant backpack its one of the few that fits larger 17" laptops.I have both the Pegasus and the Ibex backpacks.I have a Dell M6800 (415mm x 270mm x 40mm) and it fits fine in the laptop area.It fits inside the Pegasus better than the Ibex as the corners aren't as rounded on the Pegasus so the larger laptops fit better (although you can still get the M6800 in the Ibex but you need to be careful when zipping around the edges).I have the Dell 17", 13" MacBook Pro and my Ipad in the laptop area and there is still room for a notepad. The bag stands upright even with all this in it which most of the others I've tried don't.For reference a 17" Vostro laptop (415mm x 304mm x 40mm)also fits inside the Pegasus it's a bit tighter but still fits. The Vostro can't be used with the Ibex-it will get in but the zip is under too much strain and I think it would burst pretty quickly.Great quality can't fault it.

I was searching for a backpack that could carry a 16+ inch laptop, accessories, some notepads and of course my food. The Pegasus filled the spot. Its a great backpack, with quality that its going to last and offers plenty of space. I also used it in a trekking session (~4 hours) and I found it to be pretty comfortable.Pros- Very Well build- Great Protection Padding- Good straps that don't overwhelm the wearer.- "Quiet" colors, thus you can use it at work.Cons- Its a Little Heavier than you expect (all this padding comes at a price)- Might be an overkill for everyday use if the ONLY thing that you need to carry its an 16-17 inch laptop- The Fast Access Pocket at the top of the bag has a small zipper, not the standard heavy duty that its being used at the rest of the openings.P.S: The delivery was extra fast even with the standard free saver delivery option. Once more great service from Amazon

This is, by far, the best backpack that I've ever had.I love the fact that is:- Tough and hardy - specially since I use it for work and my computer is safe.- It's built strong and it looks strong too!- Has enough storage room for laptop, cooling desk, mouse, miniature keyboard and charging equipment. And the bag doesn't weigh that much so in total this isn't that bad.- The straps are super manageable. Able to tighten and loosen quickly for removal and transportation... very important for me. The padding is great and makes the backpack, as a whole, very comfortable and it feels like part of your back, instead of hanging off it.- The pattern is stylish and makes it look cool to wear a backpack even to the office.I definitely recommend it to all those looking for a great product to keep your laptop and your stuff safe and handy!

Excellent backpack. Have had this for four years now and it is still like new despite me using it every single day in all weather conditions and environments. Would recommend to anyone that needs an a versatile backpack that can withstand anything you throw at it and can store all essentials through its many compartments.Pros:- Good construction- Excellent laptop holder section which can store a 17inch laptop easily- Handy nets and storage areas, especially like the soft top pouch for fragile items and key storage- sturdy zippersCons:- if i am being picky, the bag is heavy when empty due to the material used (metal handle, various mesh, leather, metal designs etc).I do however think that because of the construction and materials used is the primary reason why the bag has lasted so long without any damage.

This came up as an advert again and I thought I would give a 6 year update on the bag. It is still fantastic, not as much use now but to protect my 17" metal laptop it is fantastic. I mean I will literally pass this down to my stepson when he goes to college. It is a fantastic bag.Old review from 2013!I bought this bag my Alienware M17x R2Height(Front to Back)51.31 mm to 53.59 mm (2.02 inches to 2.11inches)Width 405.89 mm (15.98 inches)Depth 321.31 mm (12.65 inches)Weight with 9-cell battery(starting at)5.3 kg (11.8 lb)It fits perfectly and snuggly, the zips do not hit the corners of the laptop as shown in the pics I uploaded. it is very well made and comfortable to wear even with the weight of my computer.I am amazed by how much space is in the bag as well!! you could honestly fit 3 laptops in there!

I've gone through many laptops, and many laptop bags, in my time. This is the best one ever!I have a 17 inch Macbook Pro with lots of gadgets like a Canon DSLR camera, cables, peripherals, etc, and this takes care of them all easily, and with room to spare.I've gone through many bags that were bursting because of the amount of "stuff" I've got, but this handles them all with ease, and no bursting zips.I fly a lot and the 3 compartments make it very easy to be able to whip out my laptop and iPad quickly when going through security. With other bags I had to take stuff out that was on top of my laptop to get at it, which was a pain.Love the way it stands up by itself. No need to lean it against my leg,or something else, when I put it down.Wonderful product and wondering why I never got one sooner.

This is a brute of a bag and I love it. It has stood up to 6 years of heavy use and is still going strong. It's got all the space you need; plenty of pockets, dividers etc. The straps are comfortable and strong and the top handleencasing a wire hawser is fab. The back is padded and formed. I am amazed to report that all the zips are still working, there are no tears or holes in the fabric. The only bit that has split is the outer plastic handle at the top, but this is acceptable as there's another plastic tube covering the twisted hawser handle. The only drawback is that it is a bit ugly. I worried at the time about spending so much on a work bag but I would certainly get another one if itever wears out.UPDATE: now 9 years of heavy duty service..and it'e still going strong 5*
