Requirement: Small SSD to replace a disk drive used for a small Postgres database on a Raspberry Pi running Bacula as a low power backup solution for a small/home office. A genuine SSD rather than USB flash offers much lower power consumption, higher access speed and longer life. While the HD was working well there was a constant disk noise and 24/7 operation is not for a portable "spinning rust" drive.I originally bought a cheap Kingspec device that was a total failure. Happy to say this has now been in place for two weeks and was subjected to a comprehensive set of tests on both a Pi and a "proper" PC before being used and it passed with flying colours.Latency on disk access is much reduced leading to three times the throughput during backups as it's not waiting so long to update the catalog. My only surprise is it still needs to be run via USB hub (this is connected to a USB to SATA adaptor) as it cannot run directly off the Pi's own USB ports, but of course the adaptor has its own power needs. The disk is the smallest in the range and is still eight times larger than needed, so hopefully wear levelling mean it will last for a very long time. The unit feels very light and is very cool in operation.

I am one of the fortunate people who get to do what they love for work. Being a total geek & the owner of a small independent computer repair business, I am what is commonly known as an early adopter. My first SSD was purchased from Crucial in 2011 for a ridiculous price of £325 for a 256gb drive. That drive is still in use and going strong. Still very much faster than a conventional mechanical hard drive.Anyway, this Transcend drive appeared as a lightning deal and it just happened that I needed another SSD for a PC. I paid just over £30 for it and also got free delivery. The drive arrived quickly in full retail packaging and as an unexpected bonus, included the adapter tray which enables it to be mounted into a bay intended for 3.5 inch hard drives. There is also a link to download free cloning software which allows you to clone your operating system from your old drive to the SSD. In conclusion, this is an excellent SSD which is plenty big for your operating system and software. Combined with a large mechanical drive for data storage, it offers a great solution for hardly any money. Highly recommended.

I purchased this SSD, the 1Tb version, but experienced some issues when trying to clone my existing SSD. In the end it did not clone my entire drive and I could not extend to the full capacity of the SSD. I returned the items to the supplier who checked it out but stated they could not find any problems with it but replaced it anyway. I received the replacement drive within a few days of returning the original item and I am very happy to say the new SSD cloned my existing drives successfully and extended ok. I am very happy with the response from the seller and would purchase this SSD again and from these guys.

Another great SSD. Purchased this for £72 and installed in a white polycarbonate MacBook for a client. It's fast, but not as fast as other devices, on the Mac front, my 2012 Mac Mini has a Samsung 840 Evo which seems to start up faster than this. Obviously my 2013 MacBook Air will start up faster than this due to the different data interface. This is certainly a worthwhile upgrade for any computer through, once you get an SSD you wander how you ever used a hard drive. The included 3.5 inch bracket was also great, used that to mount an SSD in my desktop.

I've used a couple of these Transcend SSD's, one in a Windows 10 set up, and one in an old Dell Optiplex 745 running Linux Mint XFCE. In both cases boot times are significantly reduced, as are loading times. Windows allows the use of the Transcend utility as well as Windows built in tools for trim on the SSD. Linux also has built in trim support in the latest kernels.Ideally you get more if you have SATA 3 speeds on your motherboard. But any SATA mainboard will be a lot more snappy with the addition of one of these SSD's.

I bought this to replace the Transcend 128GB SSD in my son's gamer PC which was getting close to full. The installation was hassle free (but I used another software package rather than that available from Transcend to clone the old drive) and everything is working well. The new drive is notably faster at read/write operations than the old drive - a feature of SSD drives is that the bigger they are the faster read/write operations are.

At the time, one of these in 32GB for £23 was a good cheap way to add an SSD to an old netbook, but I'd have bought 64GB and possibly a different brand at the current pricing (32GB £30, 64GB £34).It isn't as fast as more expensive drives, but it's faster, lighter, lower-power and tougher than the HD it replaced. If your laptop isn't very powerful, the extra speed offered by more expensive drives won't matter much anyway.

Easy to fit and produces a dramatic improvement in performance. I cloned to the existing partitions onto the drive (which took a day to do) (using the MacOS disk utility, and an external drive case) and after that swapped the drives over. Everything worked straight away, but much faster. Needed to find a third party trim application, which was free. I liked it so much I bought a second one for my daughter's Mac.

This is my third SSD and the largest so far. It took a few short minutes to physically attach it to my system and the software from Transcends website took just over an hour to shift 460Gb of data and OS onto the new drive. I am very impressed with its speed, others may be faster but you can bet you'll pay a hefty premium for a few milliseconds. I highly recommend it and the price makes it an absolute bargain.

Excellent SSD and for £34 the best upgrade I have ever fitted to a laptop. Unlike most SSD's this one does not need the spacer adapter plate fitted (although it does come with one). The read speeds are amazing but sequential writes are terrible. It brought my boot time on a dual core 2.6GHz with 4GB ram up to 3.2 seconds running Windows 10 enterprise edition.

I just love these drive, I have bought the 128GB, 256GB and 512GB for my self. I have fitted the 128GB to lots of customers laptops and it has always made a good improvement. The software that helps you clone the data is spot on and the Hard drive adapter fits most PC tower cases.I have installed these on machines as old as 5 years with out any hassle.

High quality metal cased, high speed, low current, silent SSD. I bought this to replace a noisy (clicking) mechanical HDD in a Sony Vaio laptop. Now the laptop is silent, has extra battery life (there is no spinning mechanical drive it it anymore!) and boots in 10 seconds not 70 seconds. Excellent to the point of being a miracle.

Very Good value for money. I bought this to use as a cache drive in my Media server. It arrived promptly, was well packaged and simple to fir. It came with a foxing plate for large mounts which meant that i had no problems fitting it in my array. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wanted it for a similar purpose.

Great piece of hardware - as described, though the computer says it's 477GB when formatted rather than 512. Fast and perfectly reliable up to now. I was surprised it didn't have software included, such as clone software, but that's easily available. Easily installed. Altogether I'm quite satisfied.

Great price, pretty good transfer rates, bot Samsung Evo rates, but good enough for what I wanted which was as the OS drive in a Dual Quad Core Xeon workstation for Plex and it ticks along fine. Don't use it as the transcoding drive to avoid drive wear but Plex runs beautifully on the system.
