That's what the Irish barman said when I ordered this, mangling the name. I said drum-shan-BO but correctly it's drum-SHAN-bo. Well it might be a boggy hole in the ground but this gin has a special place in my ... um, liver. I was introduced to it when I was attending a conference in Dublin, and I ordered a gin and tonic, whatever gin you recommend, however you recommend it, and I got this with fever tree, in plenty of ice and well garnished with pink grapefruit in a big gin balloon glass. Has to be tried. The overall effect has the grapefruit sharpness and the peppery darkness of the infused Chinese "gunpowder" tea. I've tried other tea-infused gins, and the tea aspect and the gin aspect remained somehow separate. Here the flavours really blend wonderfully. Please try this gin. My supermarket only carries it sporadically, which makes me think I need to get more converts to ensure a steady supply.

I have recently tried quite a number gins during lockdown, and this one caught my eye but was also reviewed by Bobby Freeman on 'No Nonsense Gin-Drinking' on Youtube. It is quite literally spectacular and intense, with distinct green tea, Angelica and liquorice overtones. It is 100% better than Beefeater 24, which I previously reviewed and has a real 'kick' but in nice way. Its a little dearer than some and the cheapest I have found it is, on Amazon subscribe and save right now for £29.45, but you know what,it's worth every penny. The flavours stay with you for ages, so its a drink to be sipped with Fever Tree tonic of course, and can't be drunk quickly.Probably the best gin I have brought to date and a real lockdown treat!

I have plenty to say about this incredible Gin.!I feel a little disappointed to see sub 5 star reviews just because people can't read and realise it's a 500ml bottle and not the norm 700ml.This gin makes up for the short fall and then some. Simple.I have a nice collection of over 20 different Gins and this is by far, top of my list.I can only imagine that people are quick to write a complaintive review before even trying it or allowing time to compare it to other gins..!?The only gin that comes close to this is Cotswold Gin.In summary, my favourite gin which I find my returning to over and over again.!Thank you Drumshambo!

I didn't "buy" this as such, I got it as a part of a quarterly gin subscription. I have to say, this is one of the best gin's I have ever tasted, Being relatively new to the rejuvenated gin scene, I am amazed at how far the industry has come since the days of Gordons and Schweppes!I had my first taste of this gin tonight, it is so smooth and the botanical mix is something else. It is perfect over loads and loads of ice with a Peter Spanton No 9 Cardamon tonic water mixer...mmmm sublime

My usual tipple of Monkey 47 was coming to an end and I had intended on ordering the Monkey again, however after reading a number of positive reviews of the Gunpowder I decided to give that a go instead, and I'm very pleased I did.It has a fantastic flavour, quite complex, but smooth enough to drink neat with some ice. I'm detecting herbal notes with a liquorice after taste. If you enjoy Monkey 47 and fancy giving something else a try then I highly recommend Gunpowder.

I'm not an alcohol guy. It all tastes like absolute doodoo to me, except this. I'd always hear about the "botanicals" and was convinced it was a myth. Then I tried this.I can barely stand the taste of beer, let alone liquors and spirits. But even I can drink this neat, without making a face like I've just swallowed a shot of vomit. If your a beginner like me, this is the spirit for you. Thanks for reading.

This Gin has just hit my joint number 1! This and Abelforth’s Bathtub Gin are most definitely on a par as far as my tastebuds are concerned!! It’s a proper ‘Ginny’ Gin...I had it will a small slug of yellow Fevertree as recommended by Ginventory (the app. that ALL gin drinkers with a smartphone should have)! and a thick slice of pink grapefruit, and it was delicious. Will definitely be buying again!

This is one of my favourite gin - i LOVE IT!I have bought a couple already and me and flatmates can't have enough of it.Serve it with a premium Fevertree tonic and a thick slice of red grapefruit - voila!!Also, with the Amazon exclusive pack, you get a classic blue glass that resembles the bottle thrown in too - it's really a no brainer!

Attracted by the old style apothecary's bottle - ribbed to provide a second sense of the poison within!Like so many small batch gins, you are paying for the distinction provided by packaging and to an extent for the cost of infused botanical ingredients . The gin drinkers in the family loved it with lots of ice and premium tonic.

This is now my favourite gin. I tried all sorts of flavoured gins. Find them rather sweet and sickly. This one is delicious, something that you cannot tell what it is, a bit like pepper but without the fire.Best gin for me and the bottle is gorgeous, I am making a set now, beautiful with summer posies or single roses.

I first had this gin in Connemara with a tonic and grapefruit. It was lovely. Just bought a bottle from Asda in UK and have been sampling it neat. Simply wonderful. Probably the most beautiful tasting gin ever. The Irish get it right every time - just like Teeling whisky (the spirit of Dublin). Sublime all round .

This is one of my very favourite gins - it might be pricey given the size of the bottle (50cl) but it has a delicately balanced flavour thanks largely I think to the japanese tea. Gives it a faintly aniseed like quality. Great with Mediterranean or normal tonic water. It's packaged in a beautiful bottle too.

Need a bigger bottle to justify the price. Loved this gin in a classic G&T, it was refreshing and delicious. Liked it less well in a cocktail such as a gin ricky. Will order again, but even though the bottle design was delightful, I was very disappointed when my smaller then average bottle was empty.

2nd favourite Gin of my other half, 2nd to Monkey 47 which is her favourite Gin.I’m not a Gin expert but it is a lot nicer than your usual brands (Gordon’s, Bombay Sapphire, etc) but not as nice as Monkey 47, which is also slightly cheaper. Give Monkey 47 a try, but this is also a very nice Gin.
