Told in retrospect by Sam Gamgee to his children long after the events portrayed in THE LORD OF THE RINGS, ARAGORN'S QUEST details the journey of the weather beaten Ranger from his first meeting with the Hobbits in Bree, up to his coronation as King. The graphics are very cartoony and bring to mind Japanese RPG styles, but once you get used to the child friendly nature of the game, you can begin to enjoy it. The musical score is good, with renditions of Howard Shore's excellent film soundtracks to all three films, and it is nice to hear Sean Astin (reprising his role of Sam from the films) recording new dialogue directly for the game. The controls are intuitive, using both controller and nunchuck, and special moves and abilities are unlocked through gameplay. The game is played on a level by level basis as Aragorn and his band of companions travel through Middle Earth, and although there is no option to backtrack to previously finished levels, the self-contained nature of each segment ensures this should not be necessary. The game follows the main plot of the novels/films, with creative embellishments on the way - Trolls attacking Dwarves outside Rivendell, for instance, or the Hobbits being attacked by ruffians whilst leaving Bree. Rather than distract from the plot, such unexpected proceedings help to keep the game fresh. There are also a host of items, collectibles and skills to acquire throughout the levels, to help keep the interest in exploring high, although one or two playthroughs is all most players may commit to the game, in truth.A second player may join at any time to play as Gandalf, who simply offers support to Aragorn and can also be developed through the game with collectible enhancements. All in all, ARAGORN'S QUEST is a pleasant game, more child friendly than most LORD OF THE RINGS software, but intensely playable and enjoyable for all that, especially if played with younger children

I bought this as a gift for my 8 year old son, who enjoyed the Lego Lord Of The Rings and is really into the toys too. After a few hiccups getting used to the controls (they are a little more complex than the Lego games) he was up and running, and really enjoyed it. He only took about 15 hours of gameplay to finish the game, but has enjoyed going back and playing previous levels.Sam, narrated by Sean Astin who played him in the movies, is telling the Lord Of The Rings story to his kids. You play Aragorn, battling through various levels with the story modified slightly for Aragorn to appear where he didn't in the books or movies. When you have tutorials on weapons, you play Sam's son, Frodo, which is a nice touch. Sean recorded new dialogue for the game, and it is interspersed with dialogue from the movie. The graphics are good too. You are guided throughout, so it is pretty difficult to get lost (although some may not enjoy being "nannyed by the game!). There are a good amount of new weapons and power ups to keep things interesting, including collecting power ups for your companions to use.It is not an epic game of grand proportions, but for an enjoyable blast of Lord Of The Rings, or a game for younger children (although not too young) it is well worth the £10 paid.

if you are a hardcore fun of LOTR you may have some disappointments ...but if you are a hardcore wii player and like all that staff with wii remote-control you gonna love it.I haven't finish the game yet, but until the half of it, i enjoyed every stage, although some quests are boring (go there and talk with... etc) but helpful to learn the moves with the remote.the main story is good, use the component cable, the experience is much better than the standard one.also at the begging select the king level (the hardest) is better because you don't only use your sword but your shield tooHave fun...

This was a nice game to pick up and play on the go. But I did find it a little easy to finish.A hack and slash style game featuring scenes and the backdrops from the original Lord of the Rings films with an RPG progression element to it too. This game will appeal more to Lord of the Rings fans for sure...but perhaps of a certain age say under 15s and it shouldn't disappoint older fans too if they like the RPG adventure style game.A fun game none the less.

Aragorn's quest is a fun Wii game, with all the characters and scenes you know and love. You are able to practice using a variety of weapons and skills before going into battle. The movements you need to perform various tasks are easy to follow, though the enemies are not always easy to defeat! For fans of the Lord of the rings series this is an ideal game. The only downside is the story telling elements of the game could do with being shorter.

I thought a few scenes could have been added to make the Aragorn Quest a better overall game but it was good. I like the fact that it is set in the 'future' of the LOTR series and you get to play Frodo, Sams son. A real treat for LOTR geeks. Some parts of the game were too easy but I really liked doing the side quests, made the game more fun.

Thought I’d just check this game out before popping it away for later. Drawn right into it, enjoyed the graphics with reasonable interludes progressing the story between sections of collecting, observing, battles and challenges. Found I didn’t become too stuck at any one level and able to learn my way through it. Compelling and fun.

I bought this game as I'm a fan of the Lord of the Rings. It's an enjoyable game but may not be challenging enough for many experienced gamers. I'm not massively into gaming so it's been fun for me and the children though even we completed it fairly quickly. For less than £15 it's worth it.

A good simple straightforward slash and shoot adventure slaying orcs, goblins and trolls. It is highly enjoyable and even more so with a co-op player. Definitely recommended for any would be Hero.
