I myself enjoyed this game, being a star wars battlefront fan i stumbled upon this game in a demo disk and enjoyed it enough to get the game. The game has is overall good but there are some downsides. First of all the downsides... the amazon review said that you could be a guardian class but i've not seen any class like that on the demo or full game, and it said you could play on shelobs lair (i might of spelt it wrong) no you can't, at least not on the xbox 360 version. the game can sometimes be frustrating, for example you have worked extremely hard to play as someone like a nazgul or arragon or something and when you have just become them a scout goes invisible, sneaks up behind you and back stabs you killing you instantly and thats your teams leader dead for the match. If you have anger problems do not buy this game. Now for the good parts, this game has online play (star wars battlefront did but not many new how to work internet on the PS2) where gameplay is made is made more enjoyable having more of a challenge and the satisfaction of knowing you beat someone somewhere, and unlike your useless computers offline you can ask for help using a mic and have your team following a battle plan. The gameplay is good as each character class is completely different, for example scouts and infiltrate and backstab but mages can shoot lighting, heal allies and shoot firewalls. There is a class for everyone a well no matter what kind of game your into, archer for people who love FPS games, scouts are for the people who like things like Metal gear solid, mages for the fantasy lovers and warriors for the people who like violence and mercilessly mauling your opponents when there on the floor.Overall a good game if would let me i'd give 4.5 stars.

I have played most of the LOTR games produced and this is up there with the best of them. The campaign can be played with 2 players which in my opinion is the best part of the game. The music is great and Hugo Weaving (Elrond) narates the story which is a nice touch and really adds to the game. You can choose who to fight with - warrior, archer, mage or scout. There are a variety of nice moves and specials. Riding wargs and horses is quite good although a bit difficult to fight on. If you kill a number of people you get the option to fight as a hero until you die which is cool. The multiplayer is fun and you can play a wide variety of maps in modes such as team deathmatch or capture the ring. The hardest difficulty setting is more of a challenge as the easier diffuclties seem a bit too easy. The graphics are as good as you would expect, but there are a few glitches they need to sort out! It can get a bit juttery fighting next to things and the guy your fighting can end up stuck hovering over a wall and you cant kill him!The only real downside to the game is the fighting can be frustrating sometimes, especially on the hardest setting! The computer blocks a lot and cannot be hurt, and when the computer does a combo on you it is impossible to block and kills you!Overall, fun game with hours of playing with friends and online. Fighting with swords and firing arrows is cool, but it can just turn into button bashing at times! As much as a like this game I still prefer Gears of War 2. Shooting guns is way more satisfying and much less frustrating!

After a lengthy 3 week discussion we finally got PS3 and just for the heck of it, bought this game (albeit it's the cheapest one at the shop at that time). I read with interest what other people had reviewed this game and everyone sounds like either an intermediate or advanced or perhaps a much more experience gamer than myself. So for a person like me whoi) just starting getting into gamesii) hates the feeling of losing (cause I am a girl)iii) again hates the feeling of being beaten up (again cause I am a girl)iv) can actually shoot and kill an enemy or a goodiev) can follow basic instructions and do as told without too much complicationvi)can actually move on the level without too great a difficult (replaying the same scene about 5-7 times before moving forward is an achievement to me!)vii) can play with another person at home (sorry I don't do online and don't think I will venture into that realm)ix) able to play either the good or bad sides of LOTR either an instant game or campaign trailviii) most of all have lots and lots of fun without wasting too much time on the game for hours on endI recommend this. It's certainly not game of the year (then again what do I really know) but I didn't get dizzy, I can control my game and characters and actually had lots of fun and peservere long enough to get into the game. Lots of swashbuckling movement and finger cramps.

Lord of the Rings Conquest is the first ever LOTR game for the Nintendo DS, so being a huge fan of the DS and Lord of the Rings, this is a game I couldn't miss. I finished the game fairly quickly which consisted of a good and evil campaign. Here are some pros and cons about the game...Pros>Very good graphics for a DS, a huge step up from the older LOTR gba games>The gameplay is fun although could become a bit repetative>A good AND evil campaign>At a certain point in each level you have the option of playing as a giant (good = ent) (evil = troll)>Play as heros>You can either use the control pad or the stylus>Your allies follow you into battle>Very similar to Star Wars Battlefront>Difficulty setting (easy, normal or elite)>Statistics recorded e.g. battles fought, time played>You collect badges and medals as you progress through the game>Tutorial level>Ability to link up with a friendCons>Despite there being 11 levels, there are only 6 maps (Mines of Moria, Helms Deep, Pelenor Fields, Minas Tirith, Plains of Gorgoroth and the Black Gate)>Only 3 classes, warrior, archer and mage>Does not take long at all to complete (around a week on and off)All in all this is a great Lord of the Rings game even though it didn't last long, I would definitely reccommend this to any Lord of the Rings or Battlefront fan.

This game gets alot of bad reviews which it does not deserve. the campaign levels are great fun usually ending whith some kind of boss battle. Loads of enemys are on screen at once and the game is not really that linear, The classes are each fun to play as and your options include: you can provide archer support from a ridge, heal your players as a mage, or do the dirty work and plow through as a warrior or finnaly the most rewarding you can sneak up and one hit kill people as a scout. When your finished playing out the good and evil campaings, Lord of the Rings online will keep you addicted for a while, the best mode to play is hero team death match where 8 heroes fight out against bad guys with playable characters including: Aragon,Legolas, Gimli,Frodo, Gandalf, Eowyn, Faramir, Elrond, Sauron, Saruman, Mouth of Sauron, Lurtz, Grima. You pick anyone you want out of this list pretty much (give or or take a few on some maps) and you can have some great simple fun, and yes the online cna be sometimes fustrating and seems poorly designed because of warriors not being that useful, but hey dont play as them. Definetly buy this game if you liked lotr two towers or return of the king on PS2 but don't expect the overall polish of say call of duty from this game.

Hello,This is the first review that I have ever written, I am writing because I simply must tell you what an amazing game this is I have had it about five days now and I love it I play it all the time, and believe it or not I have only got the demo, the full game is not out yet. The demo only has two maps out of however many there is (at least another eight or nine), it dose not have campaign and only one out of five on-line modes and yet I still think that it is an amazing game I would actually pay for this demo! You can be one of four classes which are:The Warrior,The Mage, The Archer, and The Scout (Or the Assassin as I call him)Also even in the demo there are a fair few mounts like horses, and you can play as Ents (Good side) and Trolls (Evil side), these are almost like the lord of the rings equivalent to Battlefront vehicles (they are not heroes). There are heroes you can play as and unlike in battle front there health bar dose not drain over time so if you are good enough you can play as them for the whole game.Overall a great game, graphics 8/10 but thats only the demo they may be better in the full game and game play 10/10. If you like battle front you will love this....P.S I will probably write an updated review once I get the full game.

I found this game very fun and I'm still playing on it two years after purchase! it has very entertaining and engaging good and evil campaign, with fun missions and amazing settings. I would would like to see it slightly more furinished and it would be good to have more of a storyline. I would also welcome a longer campagin, more like those of star wars battlefront. this still dosn't spoil the overall experience, but should be included if a second game were to be released.Being able to choose between the four diffrent types of class (warrior, mage, archer and scout) and, at certain points hero's, is very exciting and lots of fun. Again, however, I fell the urge for more.four classes isn't much compare to other similar games. IT would be good if we could unlock more as we progress.Instant action is what kept me going all these years, after completing the campagin, you have several game modes including team deathmatch, conquest and capture the ring. this offers great hours of fun, and the fact you can play this split screen if very entertaining.Overall this is a great game, but does have problems. It seems more like a large test for a game, rather than the game itself. But this dosent meen you can't enjoy it, but it needs more.

To be honest making a lord of the rings game is a good idea but has been done... This game is abit late in my eyes the craze has finished although the story still lives in alot of us the characters just don't seem so special anymore. at Connor no this does not put battlefront to shame the great thing about battlefront was that you were a normal trooper or rebel and you get to become a jedi and you would fight in last stand circumstances, there wasn't games like it lord of the rings introduce aragon and legolas as bonus characters but its just like a warrior or archer... It's not as special as surfing through the high grass with yoda taking enemys out. i also believe a huge success with battlefront was the war of the galaxy mode, taking over the galaxy with your mates, truly amazing and buying and using a jedi in battle was exciting or when the enemy did and you soiled yourself because they were going to woop your arse and you were going to lose hoth! Anyway concluding this essay;) this game has potential but didn't completely grab me in and i don't believe this will live by the standard of battlefront but we will see its only the demo...

Lord of the rings conquest is a great game for fans and non fans alike. Two campaigns loads of battles and everything can be done in multiplayer; online with up to 16 people or coop with up to four people. The game modes are great: conquest is when you have to capture loads of territory to win (this mode is on the demo), death match is when you have to kill more people than the other team, Hero death match is the same as death match but everyone is a hero and capture the ring, this is a game when you have to capture a ring before the other team and bring it back to your base- bit like capture the flag, only it's a ring. These are all the modes I've yet played. Heroes are great fun to play as,they are extremely powerful and they've all got a unique way of playing. The classes are mage, warrior, archer and scout- again they are unique.Good:Huge multiplayerGreat game modesgandalf vs saruman battle :-)Bad:Graphics not the bestCampaign is too shortWant more heroes such as- Gothmog, shelob, glorfindelIt's a great game and hopefully some DLC will be on the networks for it. Like star wars battlefront it will last for hours.

I have played through both campaigns and done some multiplayer stuff and I have to say that this game is great. Gameplay is excellent and the battlefront experience for LOTR is as good as I hoped. There are a couple of drawbacks though which loses its fifth star. Going on a horse or warg is difficult and often frustating- but trolls and other big dudes are fine. The multipayer options- although xbox live is great and playing with your mates also brilliant there is no option for instant action same team play with only two players. Although this may not matter to a lot of folks. Also occasionally the graphics do go a bit- can't really explain that but you know when you see it. These are minor flaws though. The thing that just niggles at me is that it doesnt have the same feel as battlefront. I would have to put it down to the difference between lots of melee combat in LOTR and lots of ranged combat in Battlefront- it just feels better to be shooting rather than slashing. It still is a superb game though and I recommend it to everyone as an excellent buy. Just doesn't quite maek the five stars

I have owned conquest for 1 week.It is amazing I play non-stop.(Except for work)The archer class can kill like there is no tommorow and the scout classes ability to backstab gets you those sneaky kills online. The mage is a great character because LIGHTNING flies from his hands!(His healing and ground smash abilities are brill.)The warrior is the weakest class because his only projectile takes ages to reload (otherwise he is also great). The ents and trolls are KILLING MACHINES.They are so fun to use so are horses and the evil Wargs.Heroes are upgraded classes like scout = Frodo and warrior = Faramir.Game modes: The campaigns are great while they last but if you play on Legendary it will takeyou a while. The co op option just makes the campaigns better.Instant Action is for people without online who just want a quick play.ONLINE IS FANTASTIC. WITHOUT A DOUBT. The only flaw with gameplay is that Boromir is NOT included. And the evil team are easier to play as because of 1 thing. OLIPHAUNTS .Overall: It is a great game with brilliant graphics and fantastic online modes.

If you have ever played Lord of the rings on the X box or PS2 this is following along the same lines. You can take control of a warrior, mage or scout as you pick your way through massive battles like Pelinor fields. The game play have improved a lot since the original x box game e.g. during game play there is a handy yellow arrow that tells you where you need to be going at all times. Also if you do die you don't have to start the level all over which was a massive pain in the first one. The controls are easy to use, and it just feels smoother. The Co op play makes it much more fun taking on huge crowds of Orcs with a friend. The fighting can get a little over whelming at times another reason why playing with someone else is better. There are a few problems when playing two player controlling the camera angle but no where near as bad as the original games on the X box and PS2. The graphics and sound are of high quality and the game play moves along with nice cut scenes. This game is not for everyone but anyone who likes Lord of the Rings should check it out.

Firstly, the graphics in this game are amazing it is almost like watching the films (and it really got me in the mood to watch them aswell), the battles are superbly created to replicate the battles in the film as much as possible and you have options to play as the main roles such as Gandalf defeating the Balrog, Isildur defeating Sauron and most of the rest in the film. Another bonus is the evil campaign, although it doesn't follow the film storyline it is expertly produced and is in a very "LOTR" style. After you have completed both campaigns there is absolutely hours of online fun. Just imagine COD4, but with swords, archers, wizards (you get the drift).Because of the different classes and match types the online play is truly amazing with up to 16 players per match. After retrieving the 1000 gamerscore this is a game that will certainly be staying in my collection as it has tons of replayability. Seriously, this game is fantastic!!!!

Lord of the rings conquest is a very fun and easy to play game, with clear inspiration from Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the gameplay. The campaign mode has lots of depth in it with both side of the fight (good and evil) having a seperate canpaign, although the 'evil' campaign is shorter and alot less involved than the 'good' campaign so has less drive to be finished. The truely saving grace of this game is its co-op mode for campaign, which seems to be a dying mode in games but leaves me with endless hours with some friends and energy drink, beause of the lack of co-op campaign in modern games this one really stands out. It is the greatest part of the game, there is online but no one plays it anymore which is truely a shame because of the addictive gameplay. In conclusion if you have friends that you play xbox with get this, if your looking for a single player game then rent it because it wont be worth the money to buy. peace out!

This is, I think, the best LOTR game you can buy today. The games of the films, (The Fellowship of the ring, The two Towers, The return of the King) are good enough in themselves, but there is no branch out of the roleplay. It's all clustered around what exactly happens in the film.In this game, however, it introduces Star Wars Battlefront style gameplay to a Lord of the rings scene. What will you do? Fight with the forces of Rohan, Gondor , The last alliance, Hobbits, Elves, Men, Dwarves, Ents and Heroes such as Gandalf and Aragorn? Or will you seek to destroy Middle earth with the forces of Sauron and Saruman? You decide.Personally, I think the game is very addicting! A real escape from the traditional LOTR games.I would recommend it to all LOTR lovers and even for those who love Star Wars Battlefront and have never heard of The Lord Of The Rings!
