RISK is one of the best board games in the world! I love RISK and The Lord Of The Rings, so this is the perfect combination! The level of detail and effort that's been put into creating RISK: The Lord Of The Rings is amazing and everything is extremely well thought out! A must have for any RISK and The Lord Of The Rings fan!Play as either the forces of good or the forces of evil with exclusive The Lord Of The Rings figures, each representing different amounts of battalions, and movie picture cards in exciting 2, 3 or 4 player battles on a highly detailed game board of Middle-earth! There are also different variations of RISK: The Lord Of The Rings rules you can play that depend on the amount of players,2, 3 or 4, and also what strategies you want to try:In 2, 3, or 4 player Individual RISK, each player fights against each other to conquer Middle-earth and gain as many points as possible before the fellowship travels from The Shire to Mount Doom and destroys the One Ring! Win by either destroying your opponents and conquering all of Middle-earth, or by gaining the most points before the One Ring is destroyed! In 4 player Alliance RISK, the forces of good unite against the forces of evil and fight to conquer Middle-earth together, and gain as many points as possible before the fellowship travels from The Shire to Mount Doom and destroys the One Ring! However, each player plays for their own points and the winner is the player with the highest points, on the team with the highest points, so it is possible for a player with the highest points to lose if their team mate has the lowest points, so it's all about teamwork! In 4 player Team RISK, the forces of good unite against the forces of evil and fight to conquer Middle-earth together, before the fellowship travels from The Shire to Mount Doom and destroys the One Ring! However, there are no points to be gained in this variation of the rules, it's all about fighting to either clear or block the path of the fellowship! The good forces win by either eliminating the evil forces or destroying the One Ring, and the evil forces win by either eliminating the good forces or finding the One Ring! Each game is completely different every time you play, even when you play the same rules again, the game will be totally different from the last because, there's unlimited variety and RISK has been brilliantly designed to have the perfect balance of strategy and luck! There are 7 or 8 stages to your turn, depending on how many players there are and which rules you want to play. The most important part of your turn is the combat phase, which ultimately defines who wins and who loses the game! Leaders, Strongholds and Sites Of Power provide excellent variation to battles, as they give you different strengths in both attack & defence, and can give the players a huge boost in battle! The more victorious you are in battle, the more powerful your army becomes and the more rewards & points you'll receive! Also, by conquring territores, regions and Sites Of Power, you'll receive territory cards which are used to boost your army's strength, and also adventure cards which consist of:Mission cards: which give you rewards once completed!Power cards: which boost you in combat!Event cards: which can both help or hinder your army, as some benefit the good forces, some benefit the evil forces and some are neutral, so you never know which cards you will receive! So, what are you waiting for?...The battle for Middle-earth is about to begin, will the forces of good be victorious or the forces of evil? Only you can decide, so go ahead, be brave, roll the dice and take a...RISK!

Thoroughly enjoyed playing LOTR Risk in terms of the original version (without extended game board and content). When I got my hands on this one, couldn't wait to open the box and play it with my mates as I'd been wanting this version for quite a while. I already had the original version and wondered 'should I really spend an additional £30 on purchasing this version when I already have this one?' The answer for me was 'yes!'. I'm a big LOTR fan and it was worth it to me. 3 extra regions (22 additional territories and 2 extra ports- keep them defended!), extra adventure cards (on top of the ones already in the original), extended game play and let's face it...who wouldn't want to take control of the whole of Mordor?Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves to play Risk and LOTR, you can't miss this opportunity to battle your way across Middle Earth! I think the only thing that would make this game even better would be to have iconic heroes and villains from the films for the good and evil armies (figures). But, you can add your own I suppose!

For many years my wife and two long-term friends have played the older non-extended version of LOTR Risk. We played so much in fact, that the cards have become rather dog-eared, with some recognisable from the back (e.g. the "Boromir" card).I had hoped to replace our original game, but it went out of production after all the excitement of the films (2001 to 2003) died down, so it was with great excitement that I saw the game re-released to coincide with the production of "The Hobbit". I did not realise on the initial purchase that this game was the extended edition.Well! All our love of the old game (and more) has re-emerged with the extra territories, cards and rule options. As a game for 4 people,we cannot top it. Presently playing our own version of the rules to save time (we don't do the ring move dice rolls), we are looking forward to a Saturday game where we will play the proper rules. If you enjoy Risk or earlier LOTR Risk then get this one before it disappears from the shelves again

I had previously played the smaller game and had wanted to try the trilogy edition for ages but couldn't find it for a reasonable price and was concerned by the negative reviews on here; but the game arrived and is brand new, has no pieces missing and is not fake (the 2-5 players on the picture was not the case, the box I received says 2-4 as it should be). My only complaint regarding the game is that the pieces could be better designed and could maybe have more than a good team and an evil team (Elves, Men, Mordor and Isengard maybe). There is no real addition to the game other than a larger board and a small number of extra cards, however as I don't own the previous version I am very pleased with this product :)I should also note that the package arrived soaked through with water, however the product was fine as it was in it's own plastic wrapping.

I have to disagree with the previous reviewer: this game is NOT fake! This was my favourite board game when I was younger (when LotR was THE craze!) but unfortunately it was owned by a friend and I only ever had the Two Towers edition. I've searched for this trilogy edition (with the complete Middle Earth map) for quite a while, but with no luck since it was a special edition. I was absolutely ecstatic to see it re-released on Amazon, and for such a reasonable price as well. This game has given my family HOURS of quality playing time, and countless late nights because no one will admit defeat! It's a great purchase, and the complete map just makes game-play so much more exciting.I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas... I can't wait for him to open it! Swift delivery, and the box looks just like the one I used to play as a child.

As a person familiar with the classic RISK, I was expecting this game to have exactly the same rules but with a different map. As it happens, the game is not the same, although it is similar; it has a special Lord of the Rings rulebook (the object of the game revolves around the ring journeying to Mordor while battles go on in traditional RISK style).Personally I am not interested in any tampering, because I think that the original rules work well enough, so I made up some mission cards similar to the ones in classic RISK and I play it without the special LOTR rules. If you are interested in the new rules, then go for it, if you are a fan of classic RISK I would recommend it anyway,as amending it to fit the original rules is quite simple.

The game is just a reproduction of the old LotR risks that weren't completed.I bought this because i basically love LotR and Risk. And these two elements combined in a game makes this to me a must buy.I had the old uncomplete version of Risk (wich stopped at Rohan while this version includes Gondor and Umbar) so i bought this just as an asset to my collection.Me and my other friends enjoy this game very much and it's a fun way to see who's a great strategist among your friends and who are not. This game is certainly a must buy for Risk fans and for LotR fans.Game goes to 4 players, it has much action and tension and a boardgame on it's own it's just a masterpiece.Buy it because you'll love it,trust me.

Having played traditional and Game of Thrones risk, wanted to find another one to try and with this being a lightning deal and a big fan of Lord of the Rings this was the best one to get. The first time played this with three people took nearly a hour and half to set up and get going, however once you start playing you can pick up the rules quite quickly. It is handy to keep the rules near though. With the rule regarding the fellowship moving it speeds the game up and would say a normal game will last around 1 - 2 hours. If a fan of Risk and want to try something more complicated and keeping you on your toes would recommend this edition.

This is a fun version of a classic boardgame and one which my friends and I love! The game board is a detailed, accurate copy of the map from the original books and the different pieces are well-crafted. The game rules are easy to understand and come with several variations, ensuring that you don't get bored. There's also an expansion pack (Mordor, Gondor etc), which significantly enlarges the board, completely changing the game dynamics and tactics from the basic set. The only problem I have with this (or any other version of Risk) is that a single game can take most of a day, something my girlfriend isn't all that pleased about...

Good fun, however, I do feel and to the agreement of others I’ve played this with that the good side have a clear advantage over evil.Evil can only win by wiping out the good side or rolling a double 6 when the ring lands on an evil territory which also has to be owned by the evil side - feel like it’s really down to luck!! Good always plow on regardless and eventually will win!I know risk has a massive element of luck at times but it seems a tad overbearing in this version. Regardless, still great fun and many jovial arguments to be had! Enjoy.

This is a very complete set of Risk - bought it to fight lockdown. The game in itself takes HOURS, so you need to either: be in it for the long haul or play it over 2-3 days to complete a game, especially if you are playing with 2 players. There are many steps to complete a round in the game, so consider if the people you would normally play with are into dice-rolling, patience and strategy. It's a game that requires more attention than something like Monopoly or Scrabble, but it does pay off.

I would recommend this game to others. I have played it several times now with opponents of various ages from 8-50. We all enjoyed playing it. It does take a little while to set up (sorting out and dealing the cards) but if you keep the cards sorted out inside the box then you can minimise the delay to starting. The figures are a little bit cheap and plasticy but it doesn't really detract from the game. The additional rules do make the game more interesting than the standard Risk game.

Love it! Great concept -- great gameplay of the original board game with the added bonus of the LOTR Middle Earth map, orks and elves. And because I'm now sounding a little sad, I'll end by saying we've enjoyed it as a family (son loved it, although 10-year-old daughter found it less exciting) and it can take some time to finish (which is great too, sorry, I said I'd stop...). Overall, can't wait to play it again.

I ordered this version of lord of the rings and it only took 5 days to arrive(incl. weekend) in the netherlandsthe game is much fun to play and the quality is good. a lot of reviewers think the quality is a little low, but I think the quality is better than my original version of risk(parker), so that was a happy surprize.if you like risk and The lord of the rings, you should buy this game, you will enjoy it

This product was delivered three days earlier than predicted which allowed gamong to begin right away. The original Lord of the Rings Risk only goes down to the arohan and Rhovanion border with Gondor and Mordor but no further which meant it was a full conquest game rather than allowing campaign play. I recommend this version as it is full and allows complete Middle Earth war.
