Confusingly, IMO, this product code covers various versions of TEFAL saucepan sets. The set I received is ‘TEFAL ORIGINS, with NON-STICK INTERIOR’.I am not sure what the ‘STONE’ refers to in the current product title, unless it is the ‘spot effect’, inside & out (more on that later).❅ TEFAL®❅ ORIGINS (reinforced with minerals)❅ 5 PIECE-PAN SET❅ NON-STICK INTERIORS❅ THERMO-SPOT® TECHNOLOGY ~ ? ‘The exclusive Thermo-Spot® heat indicator on the frying pans turns solid red when the pan reaches the ideal cooking temperature (180-200°C)’GUARANTEE ~ 2 YEARS (Limited)‘Made in China’The set comes complete with a little multi-lingual use & care booklet that includes the guarantee details. The instructions apply to a number of versions in the TEFAL range, which, I think, is also confusing, especially trying to work out which pans could go in the oven and for how long.In any case, the stay-cool ‘Bakelite’ handle has metal housing where it screws into the pan, so that part will get hot.It is worth noting that the pans all have an easy-peel bar code sticker on the base that needs removing (last images below refer).ooOooExactly as pictured in the current stock images above, this is a 5-piece pan set consisting of 3 regular-sized saucepans, with well-fitting lids, i.e. 1.4 L, 2 L & 2.7 L, along with 2 x frying pans. As a guide to size for the latter, mine measure 18.5 cm & 22.5 cm across the inner rim and are around 4.5 cm deep. I occasionally use the 18 cm saucepan lid to cover the small frying pan...it is not a snug fit, but handy if required. The pans come impeccably packed in a sturdy cardboard box that measures around 27 cm x 18.5 cm x 48.5 cm, with various cardboard separators inside and it is a real challenge to get them all back in, if required!Initially I wasn’t too sure of that aforementioned ‘spot effect’, inside & out. It looks like they have come out of the dishwasher and need ‘a buff up’ ~ but I have got used to it now and all is explained on the box side:? ‘Reinforced coatings have mineral particles of varying sizes, added to strengthen the coating. These particles help ‘lock’ the layers together and help increase the coating’s ability to withstand scratching and other external abuse to the surface.’That aside it is a reasonable quality set which I am using to replace some of my tattier looking old timers (mainly TEFAL that have lost their shine due to dishwasher use).A good weight in hand for me, they sit stable on my ceramic hob. The handles are sturdy as are the knobs, but I do keep an eye on all my pans and whether the screws need tightening over time. The transparent glass lids, each with a steam vent, are relatively thin in design due to no draining holes, but the knob is on the chunky side so not such a neat fit in the dishwasher. However, the instructions recommend hand washing to preserve both the non-stick qualities and the general look of the pans over time. There is the usual indentation behind the handle that collects water in the washing process. The handles have a hole in the end to allow them to hang around the kitchen, if required, but they stack neatly, too, when not in use.Unusually for non-stick, in my experience, the use & care instructions suggest that:? ‘Most metal utensils may be used, except knives and whisks. Avoid using sharp edged-utensils…’I always use wooden or plastic-type utensils, including a potato masher in my non-stick cookware.[25 images attached]

A set of five cooking utensils, three glass-lidded saucepans plus two fryers without lids. The bodies are of aluminium, lightweight and therefore easy to lift but not induction-friendly; gas, electric and ceramic hobs will work perfectly well. The "Tefal Origins 5 Piece Stone Pots and Pans set" is of reasonable domestic quality as borne out by its pricing; a single pan of professional quality will cost as least as much as these five. The interiors are non-stick with Teflon's 'stone' coating which is reasonably hard-wearing but not when metal utensils are used within them; nylon or wood are the better choice. The two fryers were previously purchased in isolation as replacements for others and provided good service in the year or so since. The handles are bakelite which is cool to the touch even when the pans are hot but care should be taken especially when using gas to keep the flames well within the base area of the pan and not to expose the handles as they can burn - the smell alone will alarm when if and when that should occur. The fryers feature Teflon's famous red spot and, when the text merges into the background, the correct temperature is reached and the heat under the pan can then be reduced but a mid-setting has been found best to start and to always avoid the highest. Because of the risk of charring the handles, they should not be considered grill-safe although OK in the oven at temperatures up to 175-deg c (just below Gas Mark 4).The pan sizes are the standard nominal 16, 18 and 20cm diameter while the fryers comprise a 19cm omelette pan and a 24cm general purpose frying pan. Should a lid be needed for the larger fryer, generic ones are available.

In this Pots and Pans set from Tefal you get three saucepans (16cm diameter / 1.4L, 18cm diameter / 2L, 20cm diameter / 2.7L) and two frying pans (20cm diamter, 24cm diameter). The box they come in says they are suitable for gas, electric and ceramic - they are not suitable for induction. They have a kind of splattered effect on them, which I'm assuming is the reinforcement with minerals, the first time I got them out of the box I thought they'd been previously used - but it is the effect on the pans, they are meant to look like that. They also have a two-year guarantee, as long as you are using them correctly. It is a good set of pans, so far I've had no problems and my mum who has arthritis in her wrists and fingers has also been able to use them.As a family I'm not sure we'll use the smaller frying pan that often, unless one of us happens to fancy a fried egg sandwich. I think if you're bigger than a family of four (with young children), or if you have large appetites you may find the smaller pans in the set not so useful, and find that you miss having a large saucepan and large frying pan.I can't tell when the thermospot on the frying pans changes colour. It's quite a subtle change (it goes from a circle with shaded rectangles to a solid circle) and I think unless you're really looking you can't tell the difference between when it's there and when it's not - so (for me) it's not much use.Apart from that, so far I'm very pleased, had no problems with anything sticking and they've washed well.

This is a neat pan set that strikes me as a bit of a “starter’s set” for people setting up on their own, or going off to university, something like that- or (frankly) for couples who don’t tend to cook a lot. It’s a high-quality, low-maintenance set for sure, and it’s a set of five items that are all fairly small and mostly suited to cooking for 1 or 2 people at most. For a larger family I think a larger pan or two will be required. The gritty stone appearance is not nearly as pronounced when you see the pans for real as they appear in the product photos. In fact it’s a fairly mild mottling effect that’s rather discreet, and feels rather satisfying and earthy- but also does make you occasionally double-check because you’re not sure if you’ve cleaned the pan properly…To be frank, I haven’t been able to discern any real difference in the cooking when using these pans to using my previous pan collection, which also happened to be Tefal. The mineral aspect of it doesn’t appear to affect the heat distribution in any way, and while these pans are really impressively non-stick, so were my previous Tefal pans as well.So I’m not sure whether the minerals really make this any better, any more non-stick or any more durable, or whether it’s just a bit of a gimmick- but nevertheless you can rely on Tefal pans to be top quality and last a long time, and the stone effect is strangely appealing on these pans, so there’s really no reason to give anything other than the full five stars.

Who doesn't like Tefal? I bought these on offer at £34.99 to replace my existing Tefal sets, which have been going strong for nearly 13 years now. I think at the time they were bought for about £30 on a similar offer, so that's an amazing cost per usage over the timespan. The main difference between these 2 sets of pans is that the new ones are white speckled inside and out, compared to the original all black finish. This can make cleaning the inside a bit of a pain, as you sometimes think you've missed something when cleaning, but apart from that they're great. They were slightly lighter and thinner than my original pans, so definitely less weighty to use, but not a big deal to me.They're sitting on my cooker rings - I'm not swinging them around like Wimbledon Tennis Racquets! :-)To summarise, I'd say that these are a great buy when on a £30-£40 price point / special offer. Great service from Amazon too regarding delivery a day earlier than planned. Would I buy at the Recommended Retail Price? Probably not, especially knowing and feeling the difference in quality compared to my 13 year old original set of pans. For anyone curious as to why I was replacing my original set, some of the saucepan lids were dropped and the rims bent out of shape, and the screw holding the most commonly used pans would come loose gradually and needed frequent re-tightening. My advice - Buy them on offer when you see them! Hope this review helps!

With a granite look, this stone effect set of five items is the basic kitchen requirement for anyone setting up a home. The smaller frying pan is especially appealing for a smaller household. The larger one works very well too for a family fry up. The red circular mark in the middle of the frying pans glows when the pan is up to heat. The three saucepans with their glass see-through lids are excellent quality. The handles are safe to use when the pots are on the stove, they are tactile and have the handy hole at the end for hanging from a batterie de cuisine. Like Goldilocks' Mummy Bear, Daddy Bear and Baby Bear, there is one for every purpose. Veg, potatoes, gravy...A two-year guarantee is reassuring. It is suggested that for the first time use one should wash and lightly oil the inner coating with cooking oil. You can always tighten the handles with the appropriate screwdriver should they become loose over time. As with other such pans, it is best to wash them by hand rather than subject them to a dishwasher, but if you must then use a gentler gel dishwashing product. This set comes cleverly packed into a good looking illustrated box so would be very attractive for gifting.

A little dissapointed to see some of the comments around quality for this set.First it’s less than £10 a pot/pan. That’s pretty good given a Mauviel can set you back £100 for a pot or £2-300 for a frying pan.People are not being realistic. This is a great starter set for a new home or someone going to university. The pans are super light and work fine. However they will last a year, maybe a bit more depending on how they are treated. There’s no weight in these pans so they are not going to hold the heat well or disrabute it evenly. The red spot to say it’s at temperature is a bit of a gimmick because the moment you dump chilled mean on the pans it will cool almost immediately and you’ll find it difficult to sear/seal meat. The Non-Stick coating works fine and like most coating that will wear off after around 5-6 months and less if you use a dishwasher. On a positive note the lids are glass, the set is inexpensive, it’s do for a couple of year and you can afford better and start a collection of good kitchenware. (Taken me 30 years to have everything I want).See it for what it is .... a stop gap until you can afford better.

I have previously paid more for one pan than the cost of this set of 5 - so I think you have to take that into account. If you need to buy a whole set these are are good option that give you OK quality at an excellent price. They are quite light - but that can be an advantage to some people. They have the usual thermo spot hot enough indicator which I like and they have pretty good non stick that seems to stand up to wear and tear as long as you don't use metal tools. So far the handles have stayed toght - but you might need to tighten over time.Amazon combine all the reviews together for these ranges. The Origins have the specked non stick inside and out - which is both practical and attractive.Overall I think this set hits the sweet spot for value and function. They will not last for ever but they should give you years of service at a very reasonable price

They are as described so far. I've only owned and used these for a few weeks and so far they perform very well.Strangely, I find the frying pans often outlast the saucepans in these sets. But, buying the sets without the frying pans works out less economical. However, I really like these and the price and performance make them a really good buy overall.I cannot award for longevity at this time hence the 4 stars. If they last 2 years they will be worth 5 stars.Update: Our Tefal Origins pans have been used every day and cleaned by hand and a quick wipe with a sponge-backed nylon scourer. If anything should stick just leave to soak for five minutes in warm water.Ours still look almost new.The base has ridges/valleys which makes it hard to get all staining off.I have uploaded photos of these 15mo pots and pans.I have increased my review to five stars.

A set of three pans, a omelette pan and a frying pan this is a good starter set for home cooking. The handles stay cool no matter how long the pan is on the stove (for information i use gas).To test the non-stick i cooked on and burnt some beans onto the pan i was able to wipe it off with no issues afterwards, repeating this after leaving them to dry gave the same results so the non-stick coating works very well. Before using for the first time though make sure the pans are lightly oiled this keeps the non-stick coating good going forward. For a pack that contains the basics these pans are better than the predecessors which i also own. I highly recommend these pans to anyone who needs a decent set,the quality of the items is very high and all arrived well packed and damage free.

We have been using these pans for a couple of months now and they have all been used several times and been washed manually and through the dishwasher as well. They show no signs of wear at all. They are finished in a sort of speckled dark grey and initially I thought that they were coated with something but this what they are like. They are well made, no loose screws and the lids fit well.I am using them on a ceramic hob (electric). They do take longer than my previous pans (Asda's own) to warm up but I am impressed at how even the heat distribution is on them and I am cooking things at a lower heat than I did previously - I think this is because they are heavier and are retaining heat better.Ithink we will be using these for some years to come - I am very pleased with them

This is one of the simpler pots and pans set from Tefal.Tefal are by far the best brand for non-stick coating and this set is as good as it gets - my teenage daughter is obsessed with frying eggs and quite often burns them - these pans are easy to clear even after many burned eggs...The good bits:- good looking,- light- easy to clean- most importantly seriously non-stick!- the pots have glass covers with small hole for steam - this is very useful so that your food does not over boilThe Stone effect adds it a bit of class, however it is just an effect - this is not really heavy stoneware. Not much to improve, as long as you keep in mind that these pots and pans are not going to last you a lifetime, these are for up to 10 years.

These pans are very non stick! Never before have I used a pan that was so slippy! First thing to note is that they are not induction pans but work with Gas and Electric. Also the scoring I have left is missing a star as I feel all of the pans are on the small side! The frying pans are both pretty small and all the pans are usable but could do with being a little bigger. The glass lids bounce well thanks to the silver rim, accidentally dropped one unpacking the set! Thankfully it counted well.Washing them is simple too, it took very little effort to get them clean, cooked many things in them and even left them with curry remnants in them overnight, a simple rinse and they were clean!

A good quality set of 3 saucepans and 2 frying pans. They are all lined with non stick coating which reduces the need for fat to fry or brown food. The pans have a very light speckling on the outside to give a sort of stone effect , which in my opinion doesn't work , I would suggest add more or don't put it on at all; not that this affects the saucepans when being used. They are solid and we'll made but not too heavy for me to lift when they are full. The frying pans have the red mark that you s when the pan is hot enough to use. The wash like a dream . I don't have a dish washer so can't tell how they wash in one of those. In really like my new set of pans .

An ideal starter pan set for someone setting up home for the first time (particularly at the current sub fifty pound price tag), the 'Tefal Origins 5 Piece Stone Pots and Pans set' is a set of five pans - two sizes of frying pan, and three lidded saucepans - with Tefal's highly mineralised non-stick coating which both makes the pans easy to clean and also genuinely reduces the amount of cooking oil required in the frying pans. They have dots which change colour when up to heat, which is particularly useful for inexperienced/inept cooks (*puts hand up*).Good value, great range of sizes and easy to keep clean, brilliant basic pan set.
