Tales of Symphonia, the original game, is fantastic and rightfully deserves a place in the top RPGs ever made. It was lovingly crafted, had a great cast, a wonderful battle system, a good story, and a huge world. In short, it was and still is one of the best JRPGs ever made. On its own it is easily a five-star game.Little of that has changed in the remaster, but the remaster itself is somewhat lazy. Character models are blurry and low-resolution, and the environments are a very mixed bag - some looking almost Vesperia-esque, and some looking no better than their GameCube originals. But the worst example of laziness in this remaster is the battle framerate - what was 60fps in the original GameCube version is,for no good reason, only 30fps on the vastly more powerful PS3...The reason for this is simple - the remaster is of the Japan-only PlayStation 2 version, which had a cut framerate to be able to run on the PS2. Of course, they really should have restored the 60fps, but the new content goes at least some way to fixing that. Extra Artes, Mystic Artes, and costumes all play a part, and they are appreciated.Remaster-wise, the only big advantage comes in the anime cutscenes - and they look truly fantastic. The Japanese voice track is, in my opinion, a bit grating (it's unusual for an English dub to be better acted than the Japanese version, but I study Japanese and Lloyd comes across as being... arrogant). It's also a shame that they didn't voice act the Skits in English, but I suppose it would have been hard to get the original cast back after so long.As for Dawn of the New World... don't play it. Buy this set for the original game and forget Dawn of the New World. Believe me, you aren't missing very much. It's a better remaster for sure, but it's a 2/5 game and that's being generous. But still, play Symphonia. even with a cut battle framerate, It's great :)

Back in when I was on vacation with my family in Bangkok, I was thinking that they should port Tales of Symphonia 1 & 2 on the PS3, then the next day I was browsing in ign & I srcoll down 1-2 pages, then BAM Tales of Symphonia Chronicles announced exclusively on PS3 I was like, YES, YES, YES, FINALLY, then my mom & my step-father told me that they were going to Bangkok again for 1 week & told me if I need anything, then I thought of it then I realize that Tales of Symphonia Chronicles came out in Japan last year October 10 2013, then I remembered that I also wanted Tales of Vesperia PS3, then my mom broke the news that she couldn't found it as well as Blaz Blue: Chronophantasma, then she told me if I wanted Tales of Symphonia Chronicles then I had no other choice but to ask her to buy it, then she came back & thank her for it then I had to my room & popped it on my PS3 & played it, I love it, then time flies so fast that the English version came out, I was like should rebuy it again in English then I thought of it I said since I already have it why bother wasting money again on the game I already have but then again, I will trade it in for a different game in a day or 2, so far I happy to to see this game again HD on PS3, next stop Tales of Xillia 2.

*Note: I have not played Tales of Symphonia 2, so this review is strictly for Tales of SymphoniaA fast paced, fun, and great JRPG. If you loved the GC or PS2 version, this is a great update to the game, and I highly recommend it.The battle is a free moving fighter-style in an open 360 degree field, that focuses on combo-ing basic attacks with special moves, and other allied attacks. The story revolves around the characters, their identities, and how they cope with loss. There's many different ways to go through the game, after you've beat it at least once. You can unlock New Game+ content, such as harder difficulties, XP modifiers (anywhere between 0.5 to 10),and the option to carry over data from one save to a new save. Some new features in this version include dual audio voice acting, Japanese only voice acted skits, and some new outfits for your characters. Not to mention the HD graphics for the games, of course. If you've played either game, definitely buy this one, as it is a solid update to the series. (Sorry I can't say much for ToS 2, I'm just assuming it's received a similar amount of updates as the first has.)

Tales of Symphonia is one of the best JRPGs of it's time, it may not have had the best graphics but the story, music and battle system is great! The second game isn't bad either, the graphics are better because it was originally made for the Wii but most places are repeated only with new story, some new main characters and different order you're supposed to visit the places in. ( They both take place in the same world but the later game takes place a few years after the first one. )Both English and Japanese voice tracks, choose the one you prefer. The original game apparently has less voices content in English but the second game is completely English voiced. Including the skits (out of cutscene conversions between the characters. Most which are helpful and sometimes random but very funny! )If you're a Tales of fan you do NOT want to miss these. The games may be a little older but both are very much worth playing and why not do it in HD! Can't go wrong!

Tales of Symphonia is a great, memorable RPG and is one of the best Tales of games. It's actually my favourite out of the ones I've played and I now consider it to be one of my favourite games of all time. I like the story and characters, the animation is beautiful with very nice scenery and I love the music! Good gameplay with easy controls and with a good, fun battle system. This game is emotional and will put the feels on believe me.Negatives: The dungeons, especially the human ranches are BAD. The story can get a bit confusing and lazy, too many skits maybe, party members take awhile sometimes to do something, some corny moments, targeting goes a bit off sometimes.I have love for this game,it's a very long game, (140 hours game file), plenty to do and it's most likely my favourite Tales of game.8.5/10Dawn of the New World: I haven't played it yet.

I had a such a blast playing this game that I was fed up when I actually completed it the plot is very goodand I found myself investing emotionally into the cast even some of baddies, I struggled a bit with the battlesystem at first but when the full party is made available its a piece of cake, the soundtrack is great especiallythe battle music which I ended up humming along to while beating up enemies, for amount of content in thegame it is great value. The sequel was not bad and it was great to see what the original cast was up toand the capture monsters idea was good, the new cast members where a bit annoying at first but got better as thegame went on and some of the side content gets repetitive.Overall the first part makes the price great value and thesequel adds extra icing to the cake.

I've not had a gamecube or anything. I played Tales of Graces and liked it. I loved Tales of Xillia. So I bought this knowing it was old but remastered (I was playing Lightning Returns but took a break and popped this on) - And its lovely!!!Its proper good story telling and i've stopped playing the game with the shiny graphics and went back to rpg basics. Its not cutting edge graphics but it doesn't seem to matter. I'm really enjoying it. Its well worth trying if you like rpgs. Its got a nice feeling to it. It makes me feel as happy as Final Fantasy 7 did (my first ever rpg). You know what....It sounds stupid - but it does make me happy and it might make you happy too.

It’s great for Tales of Symphonia alone! It is an older Tales game but don’t let that discourage you. It has fantastic gameplay that is similar to Smash Brothers. With a story that is a nice deconstruction of many JRPGs.For a HD remaster/port I do wish the texture quality was improved a bit more and the graphics were a lil sharper but honestly when you get into it you grow to love the game’s atmosphere

The two games in Tales of Symphonia Chronicles definitely feel their age, but that’s far outweighed by the charm and engaging battle system of the original Tales of Symphonia. The best I can say about Dawn of the New World is that it’s a nice extra, but it’s clear which is the better game here. Still, Chronicles as a whole is incredibly enjoyable and certainly a worthy HD port of a beloved JRPG.

One of my all time favourite games since it was released on the Game Cube. As time went on I lost track of my consoles from my youth, luckily the brought out an HD remix of both games. No additional content which was slightly disappointing.(other than constumes, and a few very minor tweaks) still an amazing game and glad I have a copy again.

Excellent remake of an old classic, the game has barely aged and is still thoroughly enjoyable. This game set the bar to a new high since its release and no other game has come close to meeting it. The sequel although not as enjoyable is a nice add on but you will most likely ignore it.

Love this game although I haven't finished it yet. It reminds me of the early Final Fantasy games that I have enjoyed in the past. Any one who likes a good old fashioned RPG will enjoy playing this game and the other Tales games.

One of my favourite games i still have the original gamecube version but now i can play it in hd on my big screen hell yeah but fair warning the first tales of symphonia game is great but unfortunately the second game sucks.

This video game kicked ass. RPG Fans should love it, it's comparable to final fantasy or dragon quest in the richness of the storyline, cute anime characters. It is an action rpg though, so you best mash them buttons.

What an incredible game. I will not talk about the story but the story and the game play including combing techniques was just amazing. It is by far my favorite tales game.
