I was lucky enough to get one of these as a Christmas present and I have to say it's pretty good but could be better. It comes with a charging stand (shown in the pics), a short USB lead (to charge it with) and a second earpiece ring which looks slightly smaller than the one already fitted to it. Mine also came with thick instruction book in about 20 languages.Basically you sit it in it's stand and plug it in to one of the USB sockets on your PS3 to charge up, mine took about 3 hours. You can charge it from any USB source the same as you can with the PS3 controllers. I tend to use a cable connected to the USB socket on the back of my Virgin V+ box as that is switched on all the time whereas my PS3 isn't.Once it's charged, you need to pair it with the console - you can do it just like a standard bluetooth headset but you don't get the added functionality of on screen popups for volume, mute, battery level etc. The "proper" way to do it is gently lift up a tiny little cover on the top of the headset and plug it directly into the console using the supplied lead. For some reason I had to do it twice as the first time it seemed to work but then didn't. I deleted it and re-added it and away I went. My only complaint here is that the cover you need to lift and replace on the headset is tiny and I was scared of breaking it off, still, you only do it once so I guess it's not a major issue. In use, it's very good - you get an on screen popup showing you the charge level when you switch on (just like for the controllers) and it also shows the volume level when you turn it up or down and mute when you mute it. This is unique to the Sony headset as the support was built into the PS3 firmware from release 2.50 upwards. Now to probably the most important bit, sound, Unfortunately, this is where it slightly falls down for me. The sound volume in the earpiece is OK but could be louder. Even on top volume, I found it sometimes difficult to hear above even the quiet background noise of my girlfriend in the kitchen next door but that could well be the people I was talking too.I've read elsewhere about people struggling to be heard using one but everyone said they could hear me clearly so I guess the microphone works well (or I just have a very loud voice!) I did find I had to turn off the HD mode in Little Big Planet as it seemed to create more lag problems in co-op games (although this could be just LBP!)Fit wise, I do find my ear is slightly sore after long gaming sessions, but it's not uncomfortable even though it goes slightly in the ear.All in all, a good effort, and if Sony can fix the volume issues with future PS3 firmware updates then it will be pretty much perfect.

Actually i expected this to sound average as it's substantially cheaper than some non- official PS3 bluetooth headsets. It functions much better when registered to the PS3 via a USB cable (directly connected to the headset, just once as it shows in instructions to get the extra features)You can then use it wirelessly with the addition of on screen battery level indicator,HQ audio and its general status. The outgoing voice quality is very good if you select HQ audio mode,on deselecting HQ audio it's outgoing audio is very similar to most other bluetooth headsets - not too good.Comfort is reasonable(but could be so much better) with a rubber clasp that hugs the back of your ear, this can be reversed very easily to change to your other ear.The in ear part has a small rubber ring with a spare in the box. While eventually I have to change ears after around 45 mins ,mainly because of heat, it's the least uncomfortable headset for the best outgoing bluetooth sound quality i've tried to date on the PS3.Charging is easy, it has a dock that plugs into anything with a usb port, you get notified of when it's finished charging by either an led ring around its own "mic mute button" or on screen. It can be used as a mic in on its dock when charging too - the microphone is rerouted through to the front of the dock, just remember to route incoming audio to the Tv speakers - you could plug any headphones into your Tv you like this way.I'd say this is worth the money and shouldn't break as fast as some alternatives.Don't confuse the outgoing audio dropping on-line because of network conditions (at either your isp's or psn) with this headset malfunctioning to the console - go to "Audio Device Settings" on your PS3 and listen to it in HQ mode - it simply doesn't drop its audio. Can be used with a mobile phone - if de-registered from PS3.

I also got this device for Christmas 2008 and fully agree with Simon's review. The box is deceiving because there is not much in it. The heaset is smaller than I anticipated. Connection could not be easier. Plug the USB cable (about a quarter size of the controller cable which can also be used) into the headset directly and the PS3 and it pairs instantly. You can still have a separate bluetooth headset paired. My Giotek still is. Note - charge the Sony headset up first or it won't pair. Mine took about 2.5 hours for a first charge. The cradle is really handy as the headset charges when the PS3 is on. You can turn it on when in the cradle and it acts as a mic. The earpiece sound is diverted to your TV.You get an info display when it turns on and off.In use I found the earpiece design a bit odd at first. The earpiece sticks out about 1cm with a rubber ring around it. This sits inside the ear but not into the ear canal. I found sound quality varies with each game. Some I had to turn it up, others down. Clarity therefore varies with the sound quality. This could be due to the quality of headset others are using? The headset is not uncomfortable but you do notice you are wearing it. It sits proud of your cheek and therefore can wobble a bit when your head moves. I found that I still felt its presence after i'd taken it off after a while. The mute button is easy to use and a good idea. Volume controls are top and bottom.Overall, this is a good headset but the peculiar design will not be to everyones taste. It does have a quality look, sound and feel . The neat thing is that you don't need to wear it to use it. Just use it in the cradle. My only gripe is that the red ring around the mute button flashes when the headset is charging and stays solid when charged. Why not change to green to indicate fully charged?

Happened to grab one of these headsets a while before the standalone EU launch.Attractive design and convenient application. Audio is clearly reproduced in both directions. This is further evident when using the exclusive PS3 feature of the headset; High Quality mode.Other Features: Mute button to silent the mic and volume buttons for the ear, on screen display for battery and volume info, charging cradle for open mic usage while charging the device and auto PS3 pairing that requires no Bluetooth USB connector. The headset is universal in the sense that it can be paired with other Bluetooth appliancesNegatives: Not very comfortable; others may have less of a problem with, what would seem like,an oversized ear plug. The PS3's Audio Device Settings gives the impression that this mic is very quiet; no matter what audio level you pick (1-5) your voice volume seems the same. It's, therefore, hard to tell if it's possible to make your voice louder/quieter. HQ mode also introduces input-voice lag.The power button is awkward to use while wearing the headset and when the mute button is used, the headset sequentially emits an in-ear beep.Usage: Make sure to charge the device in the cradle until it's fully charged (blinking red light eventually turns into a solid one). Connect the headset directly to the activated PS3, using a wired USB connection, without the cradle. The green light should flash, thus, indicating successful pairing. If pairing fails (long red blink), go into Accessory Settings / Manage Bluetooth Devices to delete the PS3 Headset, should it be there, then try to pair again. Mine failed to pair due to it already being listed as a Bluetooth device, until I deleted it.

This is a great headset, ive had it for a couple of months now and it works perfectly. If you dont want to go all out and spend £100's on a high-tech headset, if you just want a relatively cheap, but functional headset that works great, then this is for you. It cost's around £25.00 (RRP), which is fairly cheap acompared with most headsets. The mic is clear and sensitivity can be changed appopiately. There isnt any static on the other end of the mic, it's easy to talk through and the mic can be muted very easily by just pressing a button. The speaker is clear and the volume can be adjusted with two buttons on each side of the headset (one for up, the other for down). The voice changer on the ps3 can be used with this, although mostly it's just for fun. The headset is really easy to connect, although you can use bluetooth too activate it, i would suggest just using the usb slot that is concealed on top the headset, as it takes seconds. It switched on and off very easily, but it's hard to do by accident. It does not compress your ear lobe and the handle bit around your ear can be adjusted so it fits better. There is a little indicator on screen if you press the PS button (similar to the controller one) that tells you if it's muted and how much battery is left. This is really useful, but the battery life itself is pretty long, it lasts about 50 hours, with a full battery before it gets low. Overall, this is a great headset and i think it is one of the best PS3 headsets out there. Also, it works fine with phones and other gadgets, which means it cold be used for other things as well.

Easy to install, charge and operate I decided to pay extra and buy the official headset after reading some bad reviews on the cheaper, non-official headsets out there. Proves the old adage, you get what you pay for. Apart from moaning about battery life (3 hours and it's back to 1 bar from 3) and comfort (a bit heavy and clunky for my ear, could be sleeker), this is a must for any PS3 owner. All adjustments have helpful 'bleeps' to signal when anything is adjusted (namely volume, mute and whether the wretched thing is off or on) and most appear on the screen. Bearing in mind I am located in London I already have had clear conversations with people from Spain, Trinidad and Michigan, USA.The technology is superb and best of all, free.Certain games don't work well - MW2 fans will be wincing at just how poor the online mode is. Nobody speaks and then you end up in the lobby with loads of nutcases shouting abuse. SF2 nobody seems to have a headset but Unchartered 2 is a treat. If you're on the same team you can help eachother with warnings and tips, on opposite sides you can only interact simultaneously after killing eachother which works really well. Heckling and laughing aplenty.I also convinced my friend to buy this and Resident Evil 5 which, due to the nature of the game, can be a good catch-up chat as well as helping eachother. It's the level of tecnhology that's impressive and if you don't like someone, just mute them.

I was very confident in this headset as it is the Official PS3 Headset. The headset itself was very good from the start. Extremely easy to set up and sync with the PS3.When all the settings in the accessory settings section have been set up properly the headset delivers crisp, clear voice across chat. I play alot of clan matches and so we are always communicating with each other, both in games and in the lobby. This headset compared to others which i have tried is the best of all of them.It connects via blue tooth obviously :), And can be charged when connected to the PS3, i do have this plugged into my Controller charging dock and it also charges the headset fine. After a while it can become uncomfortable in the ear, most blue tooth headsets will do, but as this can be easily put in the other ear that is not really a problem which affected me.The battery when fully charged lasts ages. And if synced correctly to the PS3 it has a few bits of information which will pop up when one of the buttons is pressed such as: battery level, when it is muted and when the volume is turned up or down. And it also tells you whether the voice will be HQ (High Quality) or not.Hope This Review is helpful

Many people seem to be getting a downer on this headset, and I felt I would offer a bit of my experience in using it.The device is not intended to sit inside the ear like some other bluetooth headsets, and feels odd for a while until you get used to it. The sound is still exceptionally clear even when to device is away from the ear. This makes it more comfortable and allows you to hear what people are saying around you as well as playing the game. It can also help the ear to breathe and reduce the chance of infections that can come from wearing headphones for too long. The second point is that there are two ways to pair the device to the PS3.The standard bluetooth pairing method works OK but does not give you the on screen display of battery life and mute status although it will allow you to pair it to a mobile phone or laptop. The second way to pair it uses the USB cable and is described in the instructions. This gives a far greater amount of control from the console to the headset, and in my opinion gives better sound quality too.To summarise then, it is a very good headset for gaming and general bluetooth use but for the best results read the instructions carefully.

This item has been receiving a bit of stick, not sure why. I have bought 2 of these, one from America and one from Britain to compare. It seems this version has some updates, and comes in a nice box with updated instructions. Now to the product. I use mine for CoD 5 and the sound, both being sent and received is crystal clear, and must be the best from any bluetooth headset. It also has nice little features like an on-screen display for battery life and whether mic-mute is on or off.The headset is light, fits easily over the ear and the hook is adjustable for extra comfort and stability. Although in my experience it doesn't seem to fit in the ear that well, however,it has never fallen off or out.Battery life is about the same as the controllers (about 6 hours talk time), but re-charging is quick through the supplied stand, which also doubles up as a desktop microphone. I warn you though, in this mode the mic is very sensitive. It heard me talking to my bro about 15 meters away, make sure it is switched off when in the stand. All in all it looks great and performs amazingly. No regrets buying, and not a bad price. So where's yours?

don't be fooled into thinking this is just for the PS3,althought its designed for the PS3 it works well on my phone and PC as a speach recognition microphone with real clarity as i was sick of using a set of headphones with mic and wires etc.mine came almost fully charged so it was good to go out of the box.looks good for a bluetooth headset, which is hard to find nowadays as most of them are supposed to be fasionable but look like dog toys.the dock works well but the cable from playstation is very short.not a bad thing about the headset but obviously as you may of noticed the ps3's USB's dont work while its off so no PS3 on no charging, luckily i have a controller dock plugged in mains with 2 usb ports.the loud speaker works well, think bluetooth car radio its simular in terms of quality to that which is a bonus really.overall great headset especially if you play online or Tom clancys endwar or just want a decent headset for you phone.oh and by the way pairing is seemless both with PS3 and phone/pc etc, it even flashs red and green to let you know its in pairing mode.

I bought it a few weeks ago and I used it ever since with my iPhone 3G and I hadn't had any issues and I am still very pleased with it. I just got my PS3 slim a few days ago (yes I bought the HS first) and it is working with the PS3 even better. It is very light and because of its In ear design you have a no problems to understand the voice chat or telefon call even in a very noisy enviroment. I used it in my car which is as silent as the WWII on the German Autobahn doing 125 mph and I could easly understand every single word during the call I had at that moment. The design also provides also a good grip on your ear during any activity (maybe you have some issues during a Football game but you need to be a complete....to use it on the field) Well whats left to say the Battery time is fine with me I just charge it once a week and I never ran out of energy during chat or call. I think for the very low price of the HS it offers a great value and is a good choice not just for PS3 owners.

Hi everyone,I bought this headset last week and am very pleased with it and have to agree that it is one great headset and i would highly recomend it!Pros:* Ajustable volume control which goes loud, great as you can hear those people with a not so loud voice or headset.* Built in battery which lasts hours on end (about 5-6 hours) and a not so long recharge time (2 hours).* Wireless! Bluetooth 2.1 for high quality wireless range and sound.* Comes with a rechargeable docking station so it looks top notch even while charging.* Comes with all the features you'd exspect from a top range headset (Volume control + & -, Mute button, easy to use, easy to set-up)* No hissing or static noises and does not interfear with other wireless equitment e.g.Wireless router, mobile phones, Wireless controler)Cons:* Quite big and a big ear hook which might make it not suiteable for people with small ears.* USB cable is a little short but can be replaced by a longer one.5 out of 5!

I got this headset on thursday (18th March 2010) and my first impressions of it, is that its great. I used it to play call of duty and everyone i spoke to said i had great voice quality. My freind also has it and his voice was very clear. Its very modern and its easy to learn all the controls. Some people say it does not fit in small ears but mine are average and it fits fine. It hasn't fallen of yet anyway.it's also very comfortable to wear. One problem with it is that the cable which you pair the bluetooth headset with is far to small. its round about 20cm roughly, but i got my ps3 with a massive cable like the one they gave with the headset so i use that.I also like how you can put the headset in the cradle (this is what the headset charges in) and it automatically changes to a desktop headset so u can talk without it being in your ear. Overall this headset is one of the best there is and i would recommend it to anyone.

This Headset really surprised me.It looks nice but not over the top. The more important thing is functionality (at least to me).I'm using it with my PS3. It is the only Headset provides you with "visual feedback". That means the PS3 shows you the battery status, rather its muted or not and the volume. So you are always able to see all the info you need on your TV due playing. Very comfortable.Speech quality is up to perfect and the microphone gets your voice everywhere even with your hair hanging over it. I also tested it with a friend playing Killzone2. You really get the difference between the other players with other headsets. No disturbing noises like breathing or hissing which are a pain in the *** for all the others hearing you speaking (or breathing).I also tested it with my HTC Smartphone and it works fine with it.Nothing to complain.I can absolute recommend it.

I recently started using this for Call of Duty 4 and various other PS3 games. The sound is crystal clear (maybe too clear as I can hear way too much background stuff). Sony have made a product to a standard which makes it better then using any other bluetooth headsets for PS3 gaming as this is clearly for gaming purposes as Sony have added PS3 functionality specially for this headset. To pair it up it couldn't be any more easy and simple. You simply stick the USB from your PS3 to the headset and voilà. It's that easy. No messing around in the menu's or what ever. The initial charge can take anything from 1 and a half hours up to 3 hours to fully charge. The only gripe I have is that when yourmuting there is a beep...which is annoying but serves to remind the user that they have mute on.This headset is well worth the money.
