FANTASTIC MONOPOD - TOP QUALITY WITH SPARE PARTS INCLUDED !No doubt many of you reading this will be doing your own online research - as I did, and the sensible thing to do these days. This is the first monopod that I have owned and was purchased to support a heavy zoom lens with DSLR for sports and wildlife photography, where it simply isn't practical, either space or time wise, to use a conventional tripod.I 'Googled' many 'reviews' and eventually settled on this 'Sirui P-204SR Monopod' as my first choice. These days, I tend to prefer spending a little more, with quality and longeivity in mind. I had this product initially in my 'wishlist' and when the price suddenly dropped 34% (as can happen out of the blue on amazon)... I pounced, and I wasn't disappointed. The carry case alone is beautifully made and padded, with an additional shoulder strap included. Also included is a spare 'rubber foot', an additional 'stainless steel spike' to swap with the rubber foot, a spare mounting platform with spare reversible 3/8" and 1/4" mounting screw ... and a set of 3 allen keys.I love the rotating and locking function of the panning collar and the tilt and vertical locking control and locking the legs into place so far has proven a breeze. The very study tripod feet can be either up or down (... going from monopod function to photo & video function) or alternatively, the tripod feet section can be detached and used as a low 'table-top' tripod. (Now, the tripod feet are wide and sturdy enough, provided you have your balance sorted, to totally support a heavy lense and camera, totally hands free - though I did not extend the last section, and this NOT recommended when out in the field using it !- and if one does (like I note some monopod reviewers do?) one does so at their own risk! - I only mention this here, to make the point of how stable the feet are.Weighing in a 1.5 kg/3.3 lbs, this monopod has a good 'weight to it', but this only really adds to the overall stability I feel.As I look after all my equipment, I expect to get many years of great use out of it ... and btw, this monopod comes with a 6 year warranty, so it is worth putting your purchase proof/documentation away in a safe place, in the highly unlikely event, that you will need to make a claim.I hope this review has been useful? ... and as always, I would highly recommend always getting 'the best one can afford', or if one can wait, save abit longer and invest in quality, you won't be disappointed !

Let's be clear. This is a fantastic monopod, period.I read the negative reviews but still went ahead and bought one. It is a thoroughly well made product. There is no assembly to be done at all. Blue collars activate different functions (Pan, tilt and separation) to provide the user all the versatility you could possibly need in a monopod. The three large legs at the bottom give superb stability and aid the quality feel of the unit. The blue collar in the middle can be use to separate the feet from the monopod so they can be attached to the camera for tabletop use.The unit extends to 161cm off the floor but when you add the camera and an accessory head unit you can see the overall height managed by the monopod is ample for most photogs over six foot tall.Negatives? It's heavy.Approximately 3.5 pounds. And when collapsed with the three legs attached (these can be detached for travel if need be) the monopod is 68cm long without a head. But, I wanted stability and a monopod so the weight and size attracted me. If size and weight are main concerns, this monopod may cause you some issues. So, in summary, this is a heavy, rugged, long, stable, simple to use monopod. Matched against the similarly priced Manfrotto (another brilliant monopod) this Sirui is simply better.

A fantastic, sturdy monopod that's particularly good for video work. The main monopod is relatively light weight (although the removable stand does add quite a bit). Overall build quality is excellent and looks rugged but stylish. Came with bag and extras which are good (although I would expect nothing less due to the premium price). The multipurpose attachments mean you can go from a basic monopod to a table top tripod/video monopod - great flexibility. It can be used as a free standing tripod for smaller cameras (although DO be careful and have a hand ready to catch it if the wind picks up). Also, the feet are strong and you CAN stand on them to help steady a video shot (c.f.other similar kits where they specifically do NOT recommend you stand on a foot). Adjustments are relatively quick to do with the twist mechanism although I would have preferred a locking bar version for the main shaft (which apparently they do in one variant but it didnt come up in my searches at the time of purchase). Overall very pleased - I still have a Carbon Fibre Manfrotto for general photo work where every gram counts but use this when shooting video / have less walking to do.

All features work very well with minimum fuss , love the feet .....light & compact it really suits my needs as a pro Wedding & Event photographer, my only thought is that it's not possible to stop the main shaft from pivoting ( albeit only by a small amount) on the bottom ball mount .. however , as one is moving the pod around anyway it's not a big deal at all . Very happy with my new bit of kit and my tripod is not now needed ... which was aways a pain to lug around a wedding especially with 2 large Nikons as well , it's other great benefit is it's small foot print , no worries now about getting in peoples way as I can shoot from a very small area .I also bought a Manfrotto quick release tilt unit to use with it everything works just fine .......I also find the rubber locking rings are quick & so easy to use , the panning top section is very useful .. this pod is just so versatile

Brilliantly versatile and very well made piece of kit. All it's functions are well thought out and very sturdy, there's not a hint of sloppiness in any of the joints once locked in place. It's a great compromise if you need a stable platform without the bulk of a tripod but just be aware that it's not a replacement for a one. Even at it's shortest when free standing there's still a reasonable amount of sway with a heavy DSLR on top plus it's not really any lighter than a carbon travel tripod.

This is a great tripod/monopod hybrid, very easy to set up and use it is heavier than I expected but that adds to the stability, comes with a good carry case and assorted spare parts. I would not like to put a heavy full frame camera with a long 500mm lens on this and leave it unattended but a smaller crop sensor DSLR should be fine with a smallish lens. If your in full attendance it should be fine for any camera. I use this with a ball head tripod mount.

Build quality is excellent.Good weight and usability. The 'feet' can actually be stepped on to assist stability - not many monopds on the market can accept this treatment without damage. Really handy feature.Specification is first rate AND it delivers on ALL counts.A pleasure to use.NOT expensive if you need a very well designed monopod wth features you can really use.

Amazingly built, much better quality than other brands I've used in the past with far more features. Extremely well thought out. My only slight issue is it's extremely heavy compared to other monopods it weighs as much as my video tripod so lugging it around all day will be a bit of a chore but the extra features makes it totally worth it.

The mono-pod is all in working order and it is exactly as advertised. The only gripe I have is a scuff on one of the joints. (Would be 5 star otherwise) When paying such a high price for something I usually expect it to be pristine, though it is all still in working order so far. Will update if I have any issues in the future.
