When my old sewing machine gave up the ghost I didn’t replace it for ages. Then, faced with a full length prom dress with a circle skirt, I had several metres of hemming to do and only one evening free to do it in. Ordered this, picked it up the next day, learned to use it and completed the hemming that evening.My previous Singer was an ancient heavy original black one (sewed straight only!), this was piece of cake. Blind hemming (without a special foot) only needed one YouTube tutorial!

I seem to complete my sewing much quicker with this. The robust engine deals with heavier fabrics very easily. I haven't tried all of the features yet but am impressed by what's available/ease of use. Although I read the manual prior to using the machine for the first time, I didn't need to refer to it again. Have never owned a Singer before but I'm impressed with this one. The grey finish of the casing looks a little utilitarian but I didn't buy it for looks. Would definitely recommend.

After watching many videos about best sewing machines, Singer 4423 was on top of my list. I was looking for a heavy duty to sew seamlessly several layers of fabric and it fits for purpose. It’s extremely easy to use. A note from Argos came inside the box, saying I’ve received a complimentary gift. However this promotion expired on Jan20, much earlier than my purchase in May. Overall, I’m satisfied with my Singer 4423 and also with Argos which made it available to collect on next day.

Upgraded this machine from a beginner's Singer and I love it! Coming from a basic Singer the set up was quite similar although the instructions aren't as clear as they could be - YouTube videos helped with that.Machine feels very sturdy, but not too heavy, is powerful and quick.Winding bobbin is fast and the top loading is really easy. Adjustable stitch length gives added flexibility. It's got a needle threader but haven't needed to use it yet as it's easy to thread.

I was in need of a new machine after 20 years and am pleased at the robustness and quietness of the singer. It is light enough to carry and move around the home if needed. I even went out and bought a full set of feet. I like all the fittings and options and especially the self threading which was easy to do. My only gripe and it is a very menial one is that the cover could have been of a better quality for the protectiveness when not in use, Overall I am very happy :-)

Well what can I say but brill. Had my old machine for 22yrs when she finally died on me. This new machine certainly does the job. Glides threw heavy fabric is quiet and very quick. Love the front loading bobbing and being able to see when its running out. Auto needle threader is a bonus as eye slight isn't at its best. I have certainly put it threw its paces since having it. I would recommend this sewing machine and its reasonably price for a heavy duty machine.

Re connected with an old hobby . Well done on the same day Fast track service ordered around 4 pm by 8 ish it arrived . I'm happy I picked this machine . The needle theader assistance was a bit hit and miss in the beginning but I use it now without a second thought, the catch that goes in the eye of the needle could be a tad sturdier but it's ok ! Watched video tutorials on how use the features . Absolutely hope this will be my forever machine . Five stars!

I bought this for my daughter really and I will use the machine occasionally. I have to say my daughter loves it. It's easy to use, has all what she needs, stitch wise. She makes her own clothes, which means she needs a dependable machine to tackle all jobs given. She was really impressed how quiet it was and she loves how it makes short work of all the tasks required. She highly recommends this machine. in her eyes money well spent, even if it was my own!

Bought in a hurry as my Singer machine is 50 years old and needs a good service. The new one is a good table top type, much lighter to carry but needs a carry case really. I went for the heavy duty model as it should machine heavier fabrics more easily and made short work of two very large curtains that I needed to shorten in a hurry. It also has a number of 'extra' stiches that i will be trying out very soon. It has renewed my interest in sewing.

I like my new machine, although, I did not have too much time to play with it yet.I am very pleased for Argos to provide me some extra needles, because as a beginner I did not have a clue what type of needles should I purchase. It made much easier for me. Thank you.The cable of the pedal would be great a bit longer (10 cm) as now can't reach the floor, therefore I need to put the machine closer to the edge of the desk - which is not very safe.

It has a powerful, quiet motor,a variety of stitches and patterns and a great self threading needle mechanism. Reviews said this was difficult to use but I managed it on the second attempt. All in all delighted with this machine. It does look quite industrial being a squared off shape and coloured grey. However I bought it for it's functionality not it's looks. Ordering online from Argos and collecting in store could not have been easier.

Deals with both general dressmaking really well, has a good range of features; really like the one step buttonhole and needle threader. Also dealt with thicker materials when quilting, when binding my quilt edges 4 layers of fabric and quilt wadding without any trouble. Good range of stitches. Love the top bobbin loading, would never go back to a side loading bobbin cause. The LED light is a big improvement. Best machine I've ever had.

If im being honest the price is cheaper online from other retailers, but id rather buy it from a store with a well known reputation, and if i have any questions then i can always go back and ask a staff member. issues buying things online means you never talk to a physical person and you cant see it befor you buy it! The photo ive attached is something ive made on my new amazing machine! would highly recome nd this machine!!!!!1

Firstly let me set expectations, I am not nor will I ever a tailor, I wanted something robust and easy to use for general purpose use. Materials were to include denim and light canvas (for tent repairs and tough bags). The machine was really easy to setup and I was playing within five minutes of getting it out of the box (I had used a sewing machine before but not for 10 years). Very happy with the functionality and usability.

Apart from the first one I purchased from Argos was used and broken the second one was worth driving all that way not only to return the broken one but to drive another 15 miles further to get one that was brand new!The machine is brilliant and easy to use, not sure about the plastic cotton reel holder though as the machine itself is heavy duty. Already made some curtains using it and am pleased as punch.
