I bought this as a Christmas gift but was unwanted(my brother in law is difficult to buy for). Instead of sending it back I kept it. I opened it today and used I found a waffle recipe off the net that had good reviews and thought that will do. All you do is plug it in, turn the dial that acts also as the on switch. You turn the dial to how brown and crispy you want your waffle. I set mine on 3. I put my mixture in. I didn't spray or brush with oil as it's none stick, plus my mixture had veg oil in it. My first waffle wasn't a disaster, but I did have a huge amount seep out of the machine and over the overflow ring. I realised you only need just a desert spoonful of batter in each quarter. The manual did say the batter needs to cover the peeks of the mould but I did that and I had massive seepage. If your unsure it's best to use little than alot to start with. Is it a good buy, well for those who just love waffles or those who are health conscience and use low fat healthy ingredients and want waffles for breakfast yes. For those who make not often no. I bought mine in a black Friday sale. I'd say this machine is the best you can buy but it's up to you if you want to spend your pennies. I made waffles for my niece and nephews and they stuffed their faces, chocolate sauce and syrup everywhere mind. Will I use every week, no, but if I feel the need to stuff my face I can!Ok, update: I use this iron 3 times a week. Didn't think I would but I've surprised myself. I realised you don't lock the machine when you have put batter in. I wait for my batter to bubble then I just put the lid down, don't lock it. Youl see the lid lifts up as the batter swells and goes all puffy. This machine stays on my counter top as it no bigger than a dinner plate in size. It's so easy to clean. Would I buy fully price, ok yes, now I would. Happy waffling people!. As of Nov 2016 the waffle maker is still going!

This waffle maker by Sage (read Breville as was) is truly one of the greats. I'm a convert of spend more:spend once. So sure - this is a hundred quid - to make a circular waffle (like a medium-sized pancake) that splits naturally into 4 equal portions.Obviously any of the batter which spills onto the moat surrounding the actual waffle sections is for the chef so can't really be counted in any of the official portions! The integral locking catch is not for cooking but great to secure the lid in place when carrying it around the kitchen. The non-stick surfaces are way beyond how non-stick used to be. For a normal waffle (read unhealthy mix of butter, sugar, eggs, milk & flour)you definitely won't need to grease anything; for protein powder or flax seed flour versions, a light greasing with coconut fat (using a heat-proof rubber brush!) makes cooking a breeze. The browning control is not gimmicky at all - I've found it very accurate. Normally I do regular waffles on a 3 & protein versions on 4. Discreet but perfectly audible beeps announce when the cooking temperature is reached (several minutes after plugging in & turning the dial from 0) & this is the cue to pour/ladle on the batter. Gently shut the lid (no need to push down). Any spare batter goes onto the surrounding moat (complete 360 degree coverage). Wait for the gorgeous aromas to waft upwards & the beeps once again to tell you that the browning number you've selected has once again been achieved.Et voila! Perfect waffles every time. If they're not eaten immediately, I store them between sheets of kitchen towel in a warm oven.Delighted with my purchase & definitely recommended - especially now that the nights are drawing in this wet autumnal weather - very comforting :-)

Though I have only had this product a few days, I have so far found it to be amazing. A recipe for classic and belgian waffles is included within the manual, though it is not difficult to find a wide variation of recipes online (Pinterest is recommended). The waffle maker itself is as described; an easy to use waffle press, with a moat that catches any excess mixture (great for eating while you wait). The adjustable temperature gauge works like any toasting machine, allowing you to time you to cook your waffle to your chosen preference (for me 3 is perfect). Before adding the mixture the machine takes around 5-10 min to heat up before the "ready" light indicates that it is at the right temperatureto cook.Once the mixture is added I wait about 5 min before the machine beeps to let me know that my waffle is done. After this it is just a simple matter of pealing the waffle out of the template to be served as desired. (With a normal waffle mix I have found the waffle to come out easily in one piece, leaving no excess which means no mess to clean). As I have only had this product for a short time so far I cannot comment on its sustainability but I will update this review if anything changes.

Great waffle maker, have tried a number of waffle recipes and they come out well. Gluten free recipes have fared less well but I think it's down to the recipe rather than the waffle maker. The unit looks like a quality product and has a reassuring weight to it. The unit takes a short while to heat up but lets you know when it's ready with an audible beep. Some have reported failures with the beep but so far )after 4 uses mine has been fine. I am a little disappointed that the plates are not removable - most of the time the waffles have come off cleanly but when the recipes haven't worked it would be handy to be able to dunk them in the washing up bowl to soak off.

I was looking for perfect vafle maker for some time. Eventually decided to purchase this item based on good reviews. Price wasn't very low but for good quality item I don't mind to spend extra. Received very fast. Week later on a weekend decided to try this gadget and cook some vaffels. Manufacturing guide explained everything very well. Three recipes were included. I used the basic vaffle recipe. I put setting on 4 mark and started to do some work. Vaffels were Great! Brown and crunchy from outside and soft in the middle. Perfect. All my thumbs up for this gadget. I would recommend this item.

Might be a strange way to start a review but my teenage kids hardly come out of their bedrooms - but once this gets cranking out the waffles they appear magically with knife and forks at the ready! Big hit with the family. Really well made, easy to clean (just wipe it over after) and consistent browning results every time. I repeatedly use the 2nd recipe in the included book for Belgian waffles on heat setting 4 - this is near identical to the highly rated Epicurious recipe and is a clear winner.

Very happy with this equipment. It does all that it's needed in a very simple way, and always with the same results. When doing several waffles, they come all with the same chosen color. Really, I don't feel the need for a LCD and a lot of menus like in the other Sage model, the Smart Waffle. The “wide wrap around moat catches and cooks overflow for easy cleanup” is a fantastic idea and a great value on this waffle equipment.

Heston Blumenthal is known for his search of perfection. And he delivers this time as well. The waffle maker makes perfect waffles every time you just have to find your preferred setting. I like mine quite crunchy but my girlfriend prefers a softer one (waffle of course) and this machine satisfies both of us (with waffles of course). Totally recommended product, no issues whatsoever. Keeping it clean is a breeze as well.

I am in love with this waffle machine. My family and I are having delicious waffles after a long journey of searching. It is well belt and looks good too.The waffles are fluffy, evenly browned and their thickness is ok. Number two setting is working perfectly for me. I've only tried their classic waffle batter recipe which is so good. I'm thinking of trying their belgian waffle recipe soon.

I spent ages and ages debating which waffle machine to get, I took the plunge with this one as I liked the moat idea - convinced I made the right choice. Waffles turn out brilliant every time, the moat was indeed very useful and as a result it's the easiest to clean kitchen gadget I have. We can't stop eating waffles and I do feel a little fuller around the girth. If in doubt, get this one

Makes lovely waffles. Yes it collects the drips of the liquid but for the price I think I would have like to have taken the plates out so they can be cleaned better. The much cheaper version does this and is easier to up keep. However I do like the style and it is a nice piece of kitchen equipment. Still working since getting it in August.

Great little gadget does exactly what it says , have not had a burnt or stuck waffle yet , although if kids are using it , it does get hot so oven glove or similar protection on hands is needed , and a pair of heat proof plastic tongs just to lift the waffles out ,spot on instructions love it ??recomend this to anyone .neat little gadget .

No spill is a great idea, but only the case after a few goes and you get the measurements right. Apart from that these are amazing, we had a cheaper waffle maker before that doesn't even compare. It is a bit expensive compared to others but i think its worth it. Extremely well made and easy to use, highly recommend to any waffle lover.

Wasn't the cheapest waffle maker but I checked out a few reviews before buying. Its been great so far, so simple to use. Plug it in, it beeps when it's hot enough, pour your batter in, close the lid and it beeps when it's ready. It's sturdy, well made and the non stick is holding up well. A great product.

I am writing this after uing this for several months. It has become a regular item on our kitchen worktop. Kids prefer soft waffles. All the settings even the lowest one creates cooked dry versions. The only way of getting soft is to use number one setting and to get them off before blue light comes on.
