Cut about a 3/4" section from the bare part of a Q'tip. Mine was made of a hollow plastic (Equate brand). Slide the the Q'tip behind the plastic clip thru to the other side. It should slide in with enough resistance that it can't fall out. Flattening one end just a bit will help getting it started. Leave enough sticking out so you can grab it to pull it out when you want to detach the light. The clip cannot be opened either manually or accidentally with the Q'tip piece in place.Optional: I use a piece of web belt material under the light to minimize it sliding around on thin narrow material like the V-ring loop.Using the quick ring fastened with para-cord to the harness is a recommended fail-safe,

I saw all the reviews of the rear clip failing so I have no used the rear clip with my dog, although I really wish I could. The wire loop attachment is small for a reason, but was quite difficult to get onto a thicker collar loop (don't think I could get it off now if I tried). All that being said, this still deserves 5 stars. It's super bright, the three colors are nice, recharge capability is clutch, and battery life is amazing. My dog even chewed it up a good bit and it still works. Used it about 40 times so far and haven't had to recharge yet. 5 stars due to the brightness, durability, battery life, and price! I wish I could use that rear clip with confidence, but haven't yet.

It's like Ruffwear took everything I didn't like about the old beacon, fixed it, and made this better beacon! *The clip that used to not work all the time now is metal with a non-slip fastener! *It's easily rechargeable! *Multiple colors with fast/slow/constant on each color! (Just to give you a heads up the slow blink on this model is much slower. I like it but at first I thought it was just another constantly on setting) *Way more waterproof than the previous model! This is a must buy!Also, and this has to be said, BY FAR the best customer service I have had on Amazon.

I love that this is small and light not bulky and it doesn’t seem that my dog haș some stone hanging off His neck :) The material is sturdy plastic and it clipa well on His collar. If you do that instead of attaching like a Neckless, the light will be more visible. It is suitable to do this with dogs that have long fur on The chest. The colours of The light are very beautiful and strong. I think that this is Both functional and beautiful too.

Love these! I have two of them, one of each of my dogs. We visit the dog park everyday and since it gets dark so early in the day, we are often playing there after dark. There are 3 color options so I set the dogs to have their own color. Then I know where each dog is at all times and I can easily see them from very far away! Love that these are chargeable so I don’t have to worry about batteries.

So I bought one, and it worked right out of the package. I was worried my dog would lose it, because she has an awful habit of losing ID tags somehow on hikes. But this one has a super durable O ring. The lighting is so bright and 100% waterproof. I eventually bought 3 more to put on her Ruffwear Palisades bag, and it has a little clip on the back to clip on her pack’s molle webs

I've only had it for a few months but it works so much better than the battery operated ones. We've gone camping twice now and they last the whole trip. I love the fact that you can recharge them and it's waterproof as well. My dogs love the water and they were always killing the battery operated ones by getting them wet. These thus far no problems so totally worth the money!

In love with these lights. Yes $25 but have saved us so many times when the dogs have somehow escaped or gotten off leash. Also amazing if you let pups run around while camping or your dogs are just off leash animals. My dogs have covered these in snow, mud, and water and they still work 100%. Also love that they are rechargeable so I don’t have to worry about batteries.

I've been looking for a good safety light for my border collie. Others died right away and were battery operated or didn't fit on her collar. This one, the collar slips through the latch for a secured fit. I don't use the clip. The light is very bright to the point that it lights up her path/walk. Getting another one for me to wear on my coat for our night walks

The original had one color and I always had to keep a pack of round batteries. Finally they made it rechargeable and have three different color outputs so I know which of my three dogs is where just by the color that I see. I attached them to the back of their front range harnesses through the nylon loop that holds the leash clip to the harness.

Love this light ,I place it on my beautiful King Charles Cavalier (Black and Tan) when we go for walk early mornings and dark night, it so bright and we love the option of the different colours and the flashing modes - its great that you can recharge and it waterproof which it just fantastic too . I would defiantly recommend this item xxxx

We live in the woods, with bears, foxes, porcupines, moose, raccoons, etc. all common. When we take our pup out for her final "business" at night, we want to know where she is in order to keep her from going too far into the woods. This light allows us to easily know where she is. And we love the fact that the battery is rechargeable!!

I love the dog beacon when I am hiking in the morning in the dark or night hiking ... except the latch does NOT stay on the attachment points on other Ruffwear garments. I will be night hiking with my dog and then all of a sudden realize that the beacon is not on her Ruffwear harness anymore. Grrrr!! Ruffwear needs to work on this!

Battery is long lasting, nice variety of colors and blinkiness. Green seems to be brightest. Very handy for late night bathroom breaks on my black dog. We slide it onto an extra buckle collar, fit it a tad loose, and easy to snap on collar to quickly run outside at night. Would definitely work well for walks and hikes in the dark.

Have 2 active labs-out in dark every morning. Love these lights! My dog's collar fell off, and before I realized it, the ruffwear light had been fully submerged in a cold mountain stream for over an hour, and still worked beautifully! Very much water resistant! Have tried and failed battery operated lights. These are the best!
