I bought the Podcaster as an upgrade from the Blue Yeti I had been using up until now and while I am decently happy with the new mic, it is not the unquestionable upgrade I was hoping for and has actually given me a new found respect for the Yeti.Advantages of the Podcaster:Being a dynamic microphone, the Podcaster is much less sensitive to ambient noise and reverb compared to the Yeti. The slimmer design of the Podcaster means that it can fit standard shock mounts which the Yeti cannot. The built-in pop filter that works pretty well most of the time although it can be overwhelmed if you are very close to the mic. Both microphones are ridiculously heavy and I even had to buy a new boom arm since my old one (which could just about manage the Yeti)could not carry the Podcatser.Disadvantages of the Podcaster:There is no physical gain control knob on the microphone and since it is a USB mic, there is no gain boost option in the windows 10 recording settings. This means that I need to get pretty close to be able to record at the volume I am used to.No physical mute button.Headphone jack is vastly inferior to that of the Yeti. a) it's mono only, playing both channels to both ears at all times and b) it causes a constant and very audible white noise in your headphones (even with the physical volume knob turned to 0 and the volume turned off on the PC).The Podcaster only has one polar pattern while the Yeti can be switched between four different ones. The voice recording quality of both microphones is pretty much the same to my ears. I was expecting to sound better over the Podcaster, given that it boasts about its professional recording quality but to me, this is not the case.Taking all of these factors into account, I think the only advantage that the Podcaster has going for it is that a dynamic mic fits my current needs more than a condenser mic does. The significantly higher price is not justified by the generally inferior versatility and equivalent recording quality compared to the Yeti. Nevertheless, both mics are great and therefore, four stars.

I spent a while pondering whether to get this or not - it seemed a bit lavish for my needs at the time. However, I'm truly thankful that I decided to get it!First, this thing is much bigger than you might imagine. It's about the size of a medium sized air freshener aerosol. It's quite heavy too - probably weighing around 1lb or more? But don't let these things deter you - they all add to the quality feel of the device and it's robustness comes in handy if you're clumsy like me!Sound quality is superb, as you'd expect. Be sure to google for the product and watch some of the demo videos that explain best placement and distance from mouth in order to get even better sound quality.A green LED indicates when the mic is powered and, thankfully, this indicator is not too bright - it doesn't distract you at all unlike some other mics I've seen that nearly blind you - Røde have clearly thought carefully about every aspect of this product.Underneath the mic is a socket for headphones and a small volume dial so you don't need to fiddle with your computer volume control if things get a little too loud. If you're a DJ you can configure most software to use the mic's headphone output socket for pre-queuing which is awesome! The USB connector on the end makes it super easy to connect to your computer and on my Macbook Pro both the mic and the headphones were immediately identified and usable for sound input and output.I've been using the mic for about a year and not had a single problem with it, Røde built this thing to last! For best results I'd highly recommend getting the table stand and arm, and shock mount.

While the description claims seamless working with mac, I have to dispute that claim. In fact it took me almost a whole day to sort it out, and pretty much only by luck. Restart probably worked, though I have no way of knowing for sure. When inserted for the first time, it wasnt able to even recognize the mic.Nevertheless, as always, amazon customer service was courteous and of course, after these hiccups it seems to be working.Sadly, to achieve decent levels you have to boost the gain quite high. Pretty much all the way in fact, and that introduces fair bit of noise. Not as bad as some other mics, and nowhere near the usual levels of AT3350 lavalier mic which is just terrible noisy. Also with these levels the mic picks up slightly more of the room noise than it would be healthy...Other than that I am fairly happy with the purchase and would be happy to recommend the mic as decent value for the money. If you are willing to invest 3-5 times more, keep looking. I've heard nice things about EV RE27, but of course that seems to be difficult to get in the UK and about 5-6 times of the price of podcaster.

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but while the Podcaster is excellent and, in the minds of many people, is *the* microphone for podcasting, it has one gigantic flaw: given the type of microphone that it is, it picks up *everything*. Cars outside, your neighbors, someone slamming the fridge in the kitchen and, worst of all, the cooling fans in the computers and laptops that you're using to record. That's just how it is. I only realized after I bought it (for podcasting and screencasting) that I would have to go over every recording with a noise filter, even if there's no strong source of noise. Oh, and slightly bumping your chair against the desk the mic is on is killer - not because I don't have a shockmount (I do)but because that bump will be perfectly picked up and recorded by the Podcaster. So while I still enjoy the podcaster, I plan to get a Rode Procaster Broadcast Dynamic Microphone instead. It's a dynamic mic with the same body as the Podcaster (but in black) and doesn't have this annoying problem of picking up every sound from everywhere.

I have worked as a disc jokey for five years and this is as clear as the mics I used years ago. I bought the podcaster after a lot of research for something that would connect straight to my Apple Mac without using audio interfaces. I am no expert but it is working well, it is immediately recognised by the device, and when I launch Garage Band I can use it and record my Hypnotherapy tracks with ease. The headphones attach to the microphone so I can hear how I sound like. Clear sound, no technical issues, and doesn’t pick up much of the noises around me, if I stay close it will focus on me. Definitely going to use it for podcasting when I get to it.I bought the little stand for it but I have to put it on a box to keep my head straight when recording, so next I will have to buy an extendable arm and drill my table....Sorry no technical specs for the audio experts. As good as Blue Yeti....

Pros: Sounds very nice. Works great in a modestly noisy environment: much less sound picked from the room. Even room reverb is reduced. When processed (de-noised and compressed), it sounds a lot better than my AT2020, which also is a lot more sensitive.Cons: It's ridiculously LARGE and HEAVY. I doubt it needs to be so large. Wish it was a lot smaller. The mic is permanently connected to the monitoring output: you can't mute the microphone and use it as a sound card only: you have to unplug your headphones after recording, and connect them back to the computer.Overall: very decent mic. USB sounds "good enough", don't be fooled by tests comparing it to the Procaster:save yourself a lot of money and desk space, unless you really need an XLR microphone.

As others have noted this is good quality construction and great sound. The microphone is plug and play with most computers (including those running recent-ish versions of linux). This is a mic you'll want to use quite close up.As a minimum you will need a mic stand. After a few weeks I also added a spider mount to eliminate noise caused by vibration. I also picked up a pop shield to reduce plosive 'p' and 'b' noises. Neither of these additions are strictly necessary but they enhance a quality product. The only thing that would improve the mic would be a gain control. However, it seems to be set to quite a sensible level so I haven't found this to be a limitation in use.

I had become aware of this mic on a voice recording course, and decided to invest in one.On receiving it I discovered it to be very well engineered, though bigger than I had imagined! I thought my little table-top mic stand might topple over with its weight!Connecting it up I found it was very easy to set up, and I was soon trying out its performance.Excellent sound quality, little discernible noise, plenty of sensitivity, good tonal response for the voice, and dead easy to use - just plug it straight into the USB socket. All in all I am very pleased with it, though given its size I will probably invest in the anglepoise type stand that Rode sell for it.

I had to decide between this and the AT2020USB+, and decided that the AT2020USB+ was better for Youtube video creation - mainly because the RODE PODCASTER is a dynamic microphone - ie. it is less sensitive (but does give better noise rejection). Windows 10 (as of Feb 2019) has a real problem with active USB microphones - check that the mics are getting enough power from the USB socket otherwise the sound appears muffled and low volume. The only USB port that worked for me was the USB-C ! Also, understand that Audacity has limitations with these types of mics and requires an ASIO driver (re-compiling Audacity with ASIO is a real pain in the bum!).

I love this microphone as it is great and easy to use. I use it for recording Youtube videos at all times and would never use anything else. The sound quality is great! I also really like how it comes with a stand completely free and you can also buy more accessories as well. It is compatible with Mac and Windows and is easy connect with a simple USB. The 3mm headphone output provides no delay so the user can hear exactly what is being recorded in great quality. The microphone like most has a built in pop filter there is no need to buy. Defiantly recommend this microphone.

It took a fair amount of research, trial and error but I am at last ever so pleased with my new Rode Podcaster. It is perfect because it filters out the background noise well and static is as minimal as it can get. I bought a Samson first but returned it because even in a super quiet room, it picked up way too much static. This was a perfect solution and now when I call my granny, she says she doesn't need a hearing aid! Hahaha... Really recommend this product for basic every-day use and first-time podcasting. 5 stars!

I wouldn't use any other microphone! The headphone jack and control are easily accessible and so handy to have in the mic, this means you don't need long wires on your headset to reach your pc as its all done straight from there. There is quite a lot of echo in my office but once you adjust the levels in your control panel on your PC to between 80-90% you will experience incredible sound with no echo what so ever!

I purchased this microphone since I'm a YouTuber and I wanted to improve the sound quality of my videos. This is a Great quality microphone with really clear sound. I love the headphone feature as it can be weird not knowing what you sound like when you record yourself. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a high quality microphone in a short amount of time.

I saw KSI, a youtuber with 14 million subscribers, use it.I decided to fall for it. Here are some of the main reasons:1. Better than Blue Yeti in eliminating background noise.2. Better than AT2020 in terms of quality of sound (they almost sound the same but still a noticeable difference) and does not clip.3. Better than Rode's NT in terms of bass response.

I Just bought this product recently as I make YouTube videos so I wanted to invest in this microphone as I saw a lot of my favourite you-tubers using it, as soon as I set it up I could tell the audio was just so crisp and clear, I also love the fact it is plug and play USB. I love this microphone and I highly recommend you to pick one up if you can!
