Bought this to fix in the end of a Sony ICD-UX512, a small 1x4x10cm digital recorder, because the built in stereo mics pick up too much surrounding 'clatter'.This Olympus ME 52 slots neatly in the end of the recorder and no messy trailing wires or clips.it rotates and swivels so you can place the recorder flat ant the mic will be generally in the direction you want.Or hand holding the recorder you can point the mike where you want and hold the recorder so its screen is visible and controls are easy to operate.The mic picks up its power from the recorder ok.the sound is a major improvement, which is a relief. pointing at wife and daughter on computer chatting about 20ft away they cam out clear and keyboard 'tapping'

I have a gaggle of microphones in all shapes, sizes and configurations. My sound studio is a large cardboard box with egg boxes pasted on the internal surfaces. Not very convenient for location recording, a brown cardboard box over your head and resting on your shoulders can attract some strange looks. The absence of eye slits also makes it a hazardous exercise, Ned Kelly could have given me a few tips.And so, I decided to give this microphone a go. Well, it is more than I expected, with the cable that turns it into a lapel mike. I can now make my poetry based youtube videos without trying to hold a camera and recorder at the same time. Following an immediate need for a quality digital recorder to support my professional business, first use of the digital recorder highlighted that despite the quality of the recording device its achiles heel is the microphone. A search of the internet hightlighed a number of contenders and this was one of two top suggested items. It is larger than you might expect but the recording quality both overt and covert is outstanding. It is also a matched product to my recording device and I would recommend that anyone buying an Olympus digital recorder look serioisly at this as a subsequent purchase as it releases the capabilities of the recorder. It also comes with a long lead, mircfophone clip and metal tie clip.

I have to admit that the first one sent to me was faulty and did not work on my Olympusvoice recorder so I had to return it.This I did and the replacement IS FANTASTIC. It works WELL above my expectations.The only point that needs to be made is that this mic does not allow the recorder to beused in "Conference Mode" - not a problem to me, but it might be important to some people.This mic is VERY sensitive and works well in the "voice activated mode" on my Olympusvoice recorder.In this mode my Olympus VN-713PC recorder runs for just over 48 Hours Non-Stop - In adomestic situation - on one fully charged set (2) of 950 mAh NiMh Batteries.I am VERY impressed with this microphone.Mr. B.S. Received this item within 24 hrs of ordering and used it in a lecture within an hour of opening it. Well made, robust but neat and discreet this microphone is a must for anyone looking to use a modestly priced digital voice recorder for longer distance recordings without or without high ambient noise. My recorder is the VN-6800PC. Typically in a busy lecture theatre up to 10-20m from the speaker with papers rustling, packets being opened and secondary conversations underway this little beauty does a great job of enhancing the primary subject and filtering out some of the unwanted rubbish. Not used the extension lead or tie clip yet but those look useful additions to the package as well.

When I saw this mic, I couldn't help thinking that it was going to disappoint, but considering the price I thought what the heck, let's try it. I record music sessions in pubs and I'm delighted by the way it cuts out a lot of the background noise. It is also very sensitive during low sound levels, once you download onto the computer the reproduction is good for such a small item. For the price it's very good value for money and it's definitely worth buying.

I bought this recently and have done a review of it on my YouTube channel - Techmoto (the one with a picture of a helmet on a beach). I would suggest also buying a wind muff for around £5 to add to this if you are going to use it on a motorbike though - the thin foam cover still lets a lot of noise in.

I have just tried this out @ a conference & it worked a treat , only because I able to sit up close to a load speaker, no background noise excellentrecording. The instructions say not suitable for large conference halls.....but if you are close to a load speaker the OK.

Delivered promptly and packaged well. Have tried this on my Sony PCM-M10 which can supply the plug-in-power required by this electret microphone. Very slight background hiss but hardly noticeable, certainly not obtrusive. Well recommended.

I was worried that this would be not up to the job I got it for. I need not have worried I have had no probs, it surprised me less costly makes you wonder if it can do the job, it can. Would not hesitate in suggesting this product.

I was very please to find this at a great price, which I did not expect to find, I have not try it out yet but I know that anything made by Olympus would be well made and tester. So yes it was a very good buy from Amazon.

Extreemly pleased with this product and the fact it comes with a tie clip extension kit. I would recommend it for use with the Olympus digital voice recorder as it gives a better experience than the internal mic.

Got this Mic to go on dictafone, and is great! I use it in all my lectures and picks up my lessons perfectly, even if i am far away. Does pick up some surround sounds though as it would.

I do not really notice a difference with and without as a matter of gain and clearness for large audience conference. And only one channel is used which makes the listening weird

No distortion on motorbike at motorway speeds with no added covers. I'm no expert at this sort of thing but playback on GoPro Hero 5 sounds great (to me!)
