Perfect for when you need to be carrying a compact rig, and want better sound than the camera's built-in mic. I've used this on a Nikon D7000, a GoPro Hero4 (using a GoPro USB adaptor) and straight into a digital field recorder. Really good results in all cases, all the more remarkable considering the very reasonable price. Note that it is a mono mic, with fairly good directionality. Due to its lack of length, the off-axis rejection is limited, but there is a noticeable fall off, enough to make it not ideal for capturing all-round ambience. If that is your requirement, you'd be better off with either a stereo or omni-directional mic. It does comes with its own good-quality dead-cat,

Bought this as my previous Nex camera and older camcorders [remember them] all suffered to a degree with wind noise or distracting camera handling noise. My secondhand Sony A99 is much better but even that benefits from the wind noise this mic and it's wind muffler give [that is not pictured here]. However I do mount it on a bracket, NOT on the camera hotshoe and that reduces camera handling noise. Manual focus and fixed aperture help here too. Build is good and quality is better than many in this price range.

Great value microphone that attaches to the camera hot-shoe. Sound quality is better than when using the camera's built-in microphone - more directional and less background noise. The microphone itself is better constructed than I was expecting. The anti-vibration housing looks a little flimsy, but has stood up quite a bit of use. Mine came with a furry wind cover, which seems to do the job.

Rode quality in a small package, very convenient for the mirrorless camera, especially when mounted on a gimbal, you can have this on the camera's hot shoe not adding much weight. The "dead cat" windshield is a nice bonus, you can expect to spend more than 10£ for the windshield alone.The sound quality is good and the support insulates from camera noises.

I previously had a Video Mic and was constantly worried about the battery running out and whether or not it was even turned on! With the VideoMicro there's no battery to worry about and there's no on/off switch - if it's plugged into the camera and you're recording, it's working! Excellent sound quality, perfect for pieces-to-camera and vlogging. Buy one!

This microphone on the initial test is surprisingly very good. The sound quality is excellent and the pickup is really good too. There will be a need to experiment with lenses so that you are at the best distance from the Mic and to have the right amount of picture and focus. Very impressed with the quality of the product and the output sound quality.

Sure, it's no Video Mic Pro, but the VideoMicro is an outstanding on-camera microphone for what it costs.With a little work in Audition it can be used as the main audio for vlogging. If you're getting a bit more serious with your sound and just need it for syncing purposes, it's perfect as is, way better than relying on the built-in mic.

Doesn't need batteries, it's small and sound is good, if you want to hear it check out my YouTube channel 'swamp valley' I don't use software to edit my audio so that's it.If you want to use it through your phone you need to buy a separate cable.

This little microphone went far above what I could have expected, before all I could ever hear was wind even if their was non but with this microphone I get non wven if there is a wind. The only time I have got wind noise was in a strong wind.

easy to use, compact and very powerful. I love it because you can carry it wherever you go easily. It can fit on small cameras and even your phone producing higher quality audio recording. No need to change battery and can be used outdoor.

From it's metal body to the general overall feel of the thing, you know this is a quality microphone.My main use will be next month at a Christmas presentation, so looking forward to an improvement on last year's video sound.

Yes really nice mic. Sound is beautiful works 100% i used it with gopro 7 black as vloging. Is bit big mic so need to use to people looking at me ;) Cheers for mic guys! Really god sound even in windy conditions !

The Rode's sound is solid with a pretty good frequency response, but in truth it only provides a moderate improvement over the inbuilt camera mic. But an improvement is an improvement.

If you have bought a compact SLR camera to vlog with then this is what you need. This is perfect with the Canon EOS M3 or similar. Quality is superb.... better than you will expect
