First impressions:The bottle is sleek and nicely designed. Looks like an upmarket polish. However, no box? The blurb on the back is in gold writing which is scrunched together and not as chip-proof as the polish itself claims to be, so upon delivery much of it was worn away and the rest was illegible. (I sincerely hope there wasn't a safety warning on there akin to 'do not expose to bright lights', 'do not get wet' or 'do not eat food after midnight whilst wearing'. I wonder if I'll end up with lots of little multiplying evil nail polishes.)The colour surprised me. It looks a little dull and matte in the bottle, not as rosy as the online picture.First use:Unfortunately the gimmick with this polish that I was looking forward to most, the 'rock hard within 30 seconds', is as truthful as all other nail polishes which have claimed this. As in, not truthful at all. I applied a thin coat and waited 1 minutes and 20 seconds, and then lightly touched my fingertip to my painted toenails. An unsightly print now marred the polish. It seems quicker-drying than normal polishes, but do not buy expecting to be able to paint, put on your heels a few minutes later and head out the door without utter carnage akin to a bloody massacre happening in your shoes. On the plus side, this is a very classy polish once on. The red is vivid without being loud, and is shinier than it suggests when in the bottle. It is almost as nice as my All About Eve red polish, which has been my favourite go-to nail polish for 2 years now and so that's a big compliment. The ultimate test - a few hours after applying this to my fingernails, I did the dishes by hand. Even using rubber gloves this is the chore which will prove the final hurdle for most of my polishes. However this one stayed on nicely, and did not chip or melt. Impressed! My final comment, though - 'Revlon Red'? Really? I bet it took them ages to think that up.EDIT: Just over 12 hours after application, this 'chip free' polish has chipped on 2 nails. I am hopeful that next time an extra coat will make it stronger.

I’ve been looking for a true red nail varnish ever since the brush detached itself from the lid of my last bottle, making it almost impossible to use. I’d not used a Revlon varnish before and the colour seemed to be about what I wanted, so I thought I’d give it a go.To give it a proper test, I applied the two recommended coats over a base coat (to prevent staining), but omitted my usual top coat – after all, I’m testing the varnish not someone else’s product. As several other reviewers have already mentioned, the colour does seem paler than expected and rather matte in the bottle. However, once it’s on, the colour seems deeper and the shine is lovely. You also get a very smooth finish which looks very smart. But what about durability?I’m hard on nail varnishes and can often wreck them within hours of putting them on. There were signs of wear stating to show on the tips of my nails after 24 hours, but that was after a tussle with several suitcase zips. Real signs of wear and chipping didn’t start to appear until well into the third day, particularly on my longer, more flexible nails and my thumbnails, so I class that as a good lifespan. As to getting it off again: it came off beautifully and with remarkably little effort or staining using only varnish remover pads (which have struggled with certain types of varnish I’ve used in the past). All in all, a good colour, good staying power, nice finish and straightforward to remove. Definitely recommended.

I have to say I’m quite impressed with the Revlon Nail Enamel in Red. Not only does it dry quite quickly (as long as a thinner coat is applied), the colour holds its vibrancy. I have found that unless applying a top coat then it can chip around the tips of my nails but only slightly rather than huge noticeable flakes. While waiting for it to dry, if you do apply too thick a coat I have found it scratches quite easily as its drying (definitely longer than 30 seconds) so just avoid doing anything for at least a few minutes really helps the overall performance. I also have some quite ridgey nails but after a quick polish before applying the nail enamel, it doesn’t show the ridges up much at all.I was actually quite surprised that even just 1 coat was so vibrant (unless applying very thinly). In terms of removing, it’s really easy. I use the pots where you put your finger in and twist and within a few seconds it’s gone – even with a couple of coats on. It’s a little more stubborn if you then have base, varnish and top coat on but nothing too bothersome. If you do happen to mess a nail up while applying I can easily soak a cotton bud and fix it. The colour is definitely a fire engine red but a thinner coat can look a little more pinky. I wouldn’t say this one lives up to the performance of say, a Nails Inc polish which can easily last weeks but if you are someone who changes their polish regularly then I would recommend this one.

I am so impressed by this very 1980s hued polish (think Magnum's Lamborghini or power dressing red stilettos.) Please let me begin: I love nail polish and have a fridge full of the stuff. Every week I apply a different colour and it cheers me up no end. I usually use Boots Number 7 or the Nails Inc polishes either my friend gives me or I get free with magazines such as Glamour, but this surpasses it all. I am typing this review whilst still wearing the polish I applied on last Sunday, so it's nearly a week ago and apart from a few chips, it's lasted really well - in fact, almost two days longer than my regular brand. To give some background to the application process - I filed, pushed back my cuticles, buffed then applied base coat, two coats of polish and then a top coat. The Revlon Nail Enamel's consistency was rather thin, but it wasn't a huge problem as the excess around my fingernail soon cleaned off after a soak in the bath. I am therefore very keen to apply it to my toes once they need a pedicure to cheer up the long winter days.In conclusion: a classic - as an ardent nail polish fan I salute you!

I love wearing nail varnish, but, admittedly, I don't exactly lead the kind of lifestyle that lends itself to nail varnish. I don't possess a dishwasher - so my hands are in a soapy kitchen sink three times a day. I type (which knocks the top of the nail), I cook, I peel vegetables, and yesterday I was hiking across moors, having to grab rocks and heather to steady myself. So how does this nail varnish perform? One coat is sufficient for a good colour, but if you want a "shellac" effect then you really need two coats. It is chip resistant after 30 seconds when applying, but is still soft - so putting on a pair of jeans will still wreck at least one nail at this point. But unlike some other varnishes,it is safe to put your jeans on after twenty minutes (having had some very frustrating mornings!). I found the nail varnish did still chip (the moor hike really wasn't nail varnish friendly), but not much, and only after two days. So it has performed better than most nail varnishes I've tried.I would recommend this. A red nail varnish is always a good one to have, and this performs better than most.

First, the colour; it's a good pink toned red with good coverage. I could wear this every day. As I usually do I basecoated to avoid staining then two coats of colour and a topcoat. It's a great texture, not too runny but not gelly IYSWIM; I hate polishes that do that. The brush is nicely designed, if you have narrow nails you could probably with practice use one stroke per nail, which IMO makes for a neater coat with less streaking. I did touch test after 30 secs but nowhere near dry so I used a Sally Hansen Insta Dri topcoat and that hardedned it off nicely. I love Revlon NP bottles, they look good and stand steady while I'm applying so that's a plus. Durability wise, my first go didnt chip for 3 days.I'm careful with my manicures and always use gloves for housework, in my experience chipping is less to do with the actual polish and all to do witht he application and the care you take afterwards. Second time it lasted a bit longer. I'd be happy to buy this at the price, especially for the colour which is great.

Nail varnish colour, like so much other makeup, is all about personal choice and what shade best suits you, but one colour that is pretty universal - red. ‘Revlon Red’ is pretty much a classic shade, slightly darker than some, but not too tomatoey. It applies very well and is thick enough to cover the nail in only a few swipes. Another good feature is that it dried very quickly, so there was far less chance to end up getting red everywhere. It takes longer than thirty seconds to dry, but you can walk around soon after this with little worry about transfer.Once dry the varnish covers well and stays on for a decent length of time. If you apply a clear varnish on top it becomes very chip resistant and should last a few days with only minor top ups needed. If you are on the lookout for a classic feeling varnish that applies easily and stays on, you could do a lot worse than this. It shows that there is a benefit from buying slightly higher end than the very cheap, watery varnish.

This product is not really my thing, so my wife happily reviewed it for me. She really likes it. The shade is vivid and even, and the enamel dries (give it a minute) to a smooth, high-gloss finish that is not prone to chipping. One coat provides good solid coverage, but it seems to work better when applied in a couple of thin coats, which produces a slightly more even finish, and dries quicker too. A quick nail-buff will help produce the smoothest finish though, as the enamel goes on top of whatever unevenness is there on the nail, and can only even it out so much.In everyday use, it doesn’t tend to chip, but then it depends what you are doing with your hands. Certainly when touch-typing,it holds up well against a day’s tappety-tapping on the keyboard. Overall then, it’s a good value item; a classic shade that will fit into any girl’s make-up collection. It’s an easy product to recommend, because it does what it claims, does it well, and is not expensive.

This nail polish is very easy to apply with a good shaped brush that is easy to hold ( even in your “wrong” hand) and the bristles that make up the actual brush part are a great shape for nails, they splay out nicely and give a good coverage with each stroke. The colour takes a little building up ( between 2-3 coats depending how thick you like it) and despite the claim that it dries in 30 seconds I found it still a little sticky so waited a little longer between coats to get the best smooth finish. Once all the coats have been applied the colour is strong and vibrant and looks great. The formula is “chip resistant” and , to be honest, has fared pretty well with the normal rough and tumble of my day (typing, washing up, loading unloading the washing machine etc.) but I did develop few small chips on my index finger nail towards the outer side at the top- where I always seem to, but these are easy to “touch up” without the need to redo the whole nail again.

I'm reviewing the Red shade which is a really nice vivid and bright red once on. I would say you would need to do 2-3 coats to get the desired shade as on just one coat alone the red looked to me too light but on the second coat looked a nice vivid red. The varnish doesn't dry in 30 seconds and I would say to ignore that claim as I haven't found a nail varnish yet that actually does fully dry in that short a time frame. I can say that it was fully dry and not touch tacky within 5 minutes. The brush is very small with nice thin bristles and this made the application very smooth and easy to control although I do like the angled thick brushes with my normal nail varnish but this brush was more than sufficient for application. So overall a very nice nail varnish that spreads and applies well and after 2 coats is a nice vivid bright red shade. The red colour shade in the main product pictures is a good representation of the actual shade after 2 coats.

I have had a few Revlon make up items of late and they are on the whole very good, but the imagery on Amazon can be a touch misleading with the shades of colour. Admittedly, the pictures are for guidance only, but this one did live up to the colour of the image. A vibrant and lively red that can really show off your nails.Easy to apply though you have to get the right layer depth. Too shallow and it is a touch washed out, too heavy and you have a longer drying time than the 30 seconds advertised. I over applied the first time whereupon a hard shell formed, but left a softer underside that was prone to marking. The second time I under applied, but that was easier to remedy.Quick drying and a good hard wearing finish. Some of my nails had a few surface scratches from housework that wouldn't polish out, but I couldn't see them after using this, it was acting a little like a filler. I was very happy with this, another positive for Revlon.

A lovely rich red, love it. I do like Revlon nail varnish just wish their brush was better. I find them rather thin and too long. The coverage with this kind of brush is minimal needing to go back to the pot to charge up the brush about 3 times before my nail was covered but do confess I use an old Rimmel brush and clean it with polish remover each time. 2 coats were needed to get the rich colour. As for drying time, well no different from most other nail varnish drying took about 2 minutes to get touch dry but needed at least 30 mins if not more before I could use my hands properly with out the usual 'fingers up and spayed apart opening doors with your palms' type of thing going on.I do like it,glad to have it in my collection and will use it alot, its one of the nicest reds I haveWith a dark colour like this you need a good base coat so you dont stain your nails and remember to keep your manicure longer use a good quality top coat.

Revlon red nail enamel is a lovely bright colour. It is easy to apply, and the quality of the brush seems good. To get the full benefit of the colour, you need to apply two coats. The colour lasts well, and is chip resistant. I wouldn't say that it is impossible to chip it, but it stands up well in comparison to many other types.Revlon claim that it takes only thirty seconds for a coat of enamel to dry. I haven't found this to be the case. In reality it took several minutes for it to dry, and I still felt that I should be careful with it for ten minutes after that, until it was 'rock hard' at last. This is not as long as some nail varnishes take, so it was an improvement over some, but it was nonetheless nowhere near the thirty seconds claim!Overall, the nail enamel seems to be of a good standard. The colour is rich and withstands chips well. A good product, but it doesn't dry in thirty seconds.

This product arrived yesterday afternoon and my wife applied it to her fingernails after tea. The initial impressions were very favourable, the applicator brush was just the right size and the enamel dried in about 30 seconds. However, by the end of the evening, around 5 hours later, the enamel had started to flake off leaving her nails looking, quite frankly, a mess. She says she will clean the remnants off and try applying the enamel again and if the results are any better I will report back. Until then I'm afraid I can't endorse this product.*** UPDATE ***After my quite scathing comments earlier my wife did retry this nail enamel and after using a magnifying glass to read the miniscule typeface on the side of the bottle we discovered that 2 coats should be applied. This she did and the coating has survived the night! I've added a couple of extra stars.

I received the Revlon Nail Enamel in red for review and was really impressed with both the beautiful, vibrant colour and the consistency and ease of application. I was sceptical about it drying within 30 seconds & I'm not 100% sure that that is the case but if you apply a thin coat it is definitely dry within a minute. I usually find that only using one thin coat ends up leaving a streaky look to my polish but in this case I think I could have got away with just the one coat because it had applied so well. I ended up using 2 thin coats anyway, probably more from habit than need, and was left with a beautiful manicure that lasted 6 days without a single chip!In fact the only reason I've removed the Polish today is that I'm ready for a change of colour.I'm going to have to invest in some of the other colours from this range now.
