I have to confess, I am a huge MAC fan and wouldn't usually consider other eyeliners but as it was offered for free on Amazon Vine I jumped at the chance! The first time I applied it the whole of the tip snapped off. Oh dear…I think it gets a bit brittle when it's cold.On the other end of the pencil there is a foam smudger and if you flip that around there is also a hidden mini sharpener. This pencil does not need sharpening unless you need a finely pointed tip as you just wind the next bit up when it has worn down - very handy. The sharpener works OK, but isn't perfect, it does mash it a bit as it's just a very small angled piece of plastic not a metal blade. It applies quite nicely on bothyour lids and water line (the bit of skin that's on the inside of your eyelashes right next to your eye). The little foam smudger is an essential for me, because I love dark smoky eyeliner and eyeshadow. It's great to have this included on the pencil. The liner itself is very bold and black, just how I like it as I have black eyelashes and I like my blacks to look black, not grey. It stays on your eye all day, and in the water line it stays on remarkably well, though not the entire day as it slightly melts into lower lashes (but this looks nice with a smoky eye anyway). It is true to its waterproof claims. I had a shower and cleansed my face and it didn't hardly budge, so oil-based eye makeup remover is required. Would be good for summer use where water soluble products may melt off too much in the heat.Worth mentioning: it's fine with contact lenses unlike some oilier products I have used which clouded my vision so much I could hardly see!All in all, at about 1/2 the price of MAC I actually will consider buying this as a daily substitute when it runs out and save my MAC stuff for weekend and special occasions.

In the past (and I’m talking 10+ years ago) when I had my last Revlon eyeliner I hated the fact it was a pencil liner and needed sharpening as the wood would scratch my skin. Thankfully the ColorStay is a retractable pencil so you don’t have that problem. As long as you don’t have the liner out too far it’s unlikely it will break although the sharpened tip on my liner broke off the first time I was trying to use it. A quick sharpen with the provided sharpener – can be found by just pulling the top off – there’s a smudger at the end to). Even just the heat of my eyes moulded it into a finer tip as I was lining my eyes. The colour (I received black)is quite intense but not as intense as a gel/liquid liner so worth considering if you do want a really intense winged liner. This pen I find better for smokey eyes for an intense but easily smudged line. Although it is easy to smudge after application I was surprised by its staying power – I’ve not yet tried 16 hours but it was still there 12 hours later with little movement. There’s a decent amount of liner in the pencil too as long as it doesn’t keep breaking so it will easily last 2-3 months if applying once daily. My usual liner is a BareMinerals one but with this one being half the price, I would seriously consider purchasing when I do need a new one.

I've been a long time fan of kohl type eyeliners so I found this Revlon one to be a bit drier than I'm used to but the upside is that it doesn't wear off as easily. Actually, it barely faded all day. I haven't had this kind of staying power with anything other than liquid/gel liners before. It definitely lives up to it's name of ColorStay..To look at it's not too different to countless other twist style applicators on the market. Slender stick packaging with a twist up action so you can control how much of the product peeks above the lip of the holder. As always with these kinds of liners though it's best to only turn it up the barest amount needed because it'll snap all to easilyVery easy toapply if you like it bold and dark but takes a bit of getting used to if you prefer a more subtle fine line. The only downside is it's a bit harder to correct mistakes as once it's on, it's staying on. Obviously it still comes off easily with make up remover but a little 'smudge correction' isn't going to cut it with this one.I like it. It's got staying power for sure and looked the same after five hours as it did after five minutes. Lots of product in the applicator so should last a while too. Very competitively priced and I'd particularly recommend it if you like your liners to be bold and long lasting.

This is a good black eyeliner, which goes on smoothly and has staying power. One application lasted me through a working day and came off easily at night with cotton wool and cleanser. If you want very fine and strong lines then you probably need liquid eyeliner. Being a crayon this gives a softer, medium line which is exactly what I want.Getting into it was a bit of an ordeal as its shrinkwrapped in strong plastic. After some ugly struggling with sharp objects I finally worked out that there is a tiny gold paper tab at the top which if pulled will rip the packaging down its length. I thought initially that it was part of the decoration. In the absence of instructions,I then tried to apply eyeliner with the soft pad at the end. This is for smudge effects after application so not surprisingly it didn't do anything. To save you time and possible injury, the eyeliner works like a pen, remove the cap which is about 1/3 of the way down and you're in business. From reading the reviews I found out that there's a little sharpener in the tip as well, but its overall look in your makeup bag is slim, smooth and smart. I like this very much and provided it lasts a reasonable length of time it will permanently replace the eyeliner pencil I used previously.

Eyeliner I am told is a simple enough affair and the best thing it can do is not to irritate the eye. If this is your main concern then ‘Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner’ may just be the product for you as it did not make sensitive eyes watery. However, you probably should expect a little more from your eyeliner and Revlon have tried to provide this will varying success. The eyeliner element itself is very good, thin and easy to use. It is the additions that have mixed results. In the packaging you get a soft tip that can be used to blend the makeup more and this pretty much works. The other addition is a little more unusual and comes in the form of a sharpener. There does not really seem to be much use for this as you will whittle through what is left of the eyeliner itself if you use it. Best off retracting the eyeliner when not in use and it should work fine. As this is colour stay the black lasts a long time, great if you are out all day, but can be tricky to remove should you only want it on for an hour or so.Revlon’s ‘ColorStay Eyeliner’ is a very good core product, wrapped in some extras that are perhaps not needed. However, the fact that it applies easily and does not irritate will make it a good choice for many.

Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner 5 g is a waterproof liner that is both ophthalmologist tested and designed to last for up to 16 hours. But did it pass the test?Well I wore this for a twelve hour shift at work and it certainly has staying power. Furthermore I left it on over night (very naughty I know) and it was still there in the morning. And I didn't look like a panda, as I thought I might. I needed make up remover to take it off completely. The actual eyeliner stick can be twisted round to move the tip out further when it is too low to use. This is great as it saves sharpening a 'pencil' type liner that can often get sharp and scratch the rim of the eye if you are in a bit of a rush and don't take as much time as you should.Like me. But with this, it feels much safer for people 'on-the-go', and also comes with a spongy rubber tip to artistically smudge your look the way you want it.I think this is a great addition to my make-up bag and with all the nice things I have reviewed from Revlon, I'm going to need a bigger bag! If this sounds like your sort of thing, it most probably is - so don't hang around wondering, buy it and try it for yourself.

This is a slim eyeliner that fits easily into a make-up bag. It goes on easily, with its pencil-like tip. There is a smudger built into the bottom of the eyeliner which I found worked really well and smoothed out the liner nicely. The line of eyeliner that you get is quite thick and I struggled to produce a very precise line, so it is best suited to those who like a dramatic or smoky look rather than a thin, natural line. The colour can vary from a grayish black when lightly applied to a more intense black if you are happy to put on a couple of layers.I found the eyeliner had reasonable staying power and didn't smudge easily though (aside from with the smudger!), and managed to survive me rubbing my eyes with my fingers. It did start to fade after a few hours though, and I definitely don't think it would last 16 hours as advertised! When I wanted to remove it, it came off easily with either eye make-up remover or just a cheap supermarket-brand face wipe.Overall this is a decent eyeliner that's quick and easy to apply, will last throughout most of the day and can give a nice look, providing you don't want a thin line.

I'm not very good at eyeliner. I always find them very hard to draw on, like you have to press incredbly hard and scratch over and over again until it feels like you're carving words into stone. I recently gave away a nice Boots one for that reason - my eyes were redraw before the colour came off!But this is simple and easy. You draw a line. Done. No need to go over it again, no need to redo, it's just on in one swoop. It has a screw tip and the smudgey thing on the other end, which I've admittedly not used. I'm not quite that skilled yet.It does a brilliant job of lasting all day, which is everything I want in an eyeliner. Smudgeproof? That I'm not so sure about. It doesn't drop off by itself, that much is true, but if you do touch and smudge your eye it will come off. Maybe that's what smudgeproof means? It doesn't come off by itself just because you blinked, but it still will if you rub. Also, unlike many other waterproof/smudgeproof products, you don't need to scour it off. It comes off pretty easily just with your usual cleanser. My new favourite. I'm very impressed by this, it does everything you need.

This is my eyeliner of choice, and boy have I tried plenty! It has a very soft texture making it easy to apply and meaning that you will not get the dreaded dragging sensation, it has excellent staying power and lasts all day long. The colour is a true black making it perfect for anything from a 1950's cat flick style to a smokey eye look.It is one of the few eyeliners that sharpens well too, it has a little sharpening tool on the opposite end to the actual liner , hidden under the smudging sponge tip, whihc works well and is very handy.Lastly it is easy to remove with makeup wipes or eye make up remover on a cotton wool pad.+++ update+++22/06--- the eyeliner ran out today, well strictly speaking I turned it up to increase the lead size and it fell out because there was not enough left to get a good grip of the tube and allow enough out in the open to be used- this has been used practically every day to create a heavy line on the top of my lashes and has lasted nearly 6 months so exceptional value.

I usually use liquid liner but as this is supposed to be waterproof I thought that I would try it out.I've have now tried this pencil and I like the smoothness without scratching the skin or dragging. I am fair skinned and although this is black, it does look good and not too harsh. The pencil retracts and extends the point and there is a smudger at the other end. If you twist the smudger off you will find a small sharpener which I think is a great idea. Go carefully with the smudger so as not to remove more of the liner than actually you smudge. I'm not a huge fan of smudging too much these days, but if you have fabulous eyes then go for it!I usually end up with smudgy eyes when using liner-pencils,as the day progresses, but this one appears to stay put for far longer. Even when wet it stayed in place. I was pleased about that. I have a wedding come up this year and I need long-lasting makeup so that it doesn't migrate all over my face. Fingers crossed!

As I haven't worn eyeliner since Martin Fry discovered that ''if you judge a book by the cover then you judge the look by the lover'', I past this straight to my wife who is a more recent user. Her preferred brand is a Lancome liquid eyeliner, but she responded positively to this pencil. She found it a bit difficult to get out of the plastic seal, but once up and running it was easy to apply with clearly defined lines of strong colour although perhaps would work even better if you wanted a more smoky effect. The best feature was definitely the long lasting nature of the colour which easily lasted 12 hours and would probably go on for a bit longer. At my wife's rate of daily usage it would probably last two months or so.Should you want a sharp point the other end of the eyeliner features a sharpener which will give a real sharp point for standout, precise lines. All in all a reliable product which delivers what it promises and recommended as such.

I much prefer liquid eyeliner for my eyes, only wearing pencil liner on lazy days, so normally I'd not spend this sort of money on a pencil liner and although this has more 'features' than a normal pencil how it wears doesn't differ much from bog-standard.You have a smudger and sharpener on one end and the liner itself on the other end, it's retractable too so is more than your bog-standard pencil liner, but I found this more difficult to apply as there was no control and unless retracted right back it felt like it was going to snap. For a smudgy look this works out fine but for any sort of precision application this isn't going to work out - obviously as a liquid liner user I'm somewhat biased, but as stated above this one doesn't differ much in wear from bog-standard pencils at half the price. It does stay on for a while without smudging all over your face.

Quite a job to get the clear plastic wrapping off this. Didn't realise until too late there is a gold coloured thread to pull before I stabbed myself with sharp knife trying to break into it.Retractable liner pencil in black. Don't know what the foam 'sharpener' at the opposite end is supposed to do. Very fine line. Easy to apply without too much drag, and definitely better than most. Dry, it is fine for daytime with just a hint of line to give subtle definition. Wet, a nice clear black line that is more suitable for evenings but not as black in density as a liquid liner. This is ideal for giving shape, clarity and definition to your eyes rather than making a statement.Seems to have longevity too.Has lasted five hours without any fading so far. That is actually more than long enough for me these days, although it does claim to last for far longer.

After a few Revlon products that didn't quite live up to their billing, we're thankfully back to one that does. The ColourStay Eyeliner is a great product. This eyeliner looks simplistic from the outside, but the twist-to-reveal pencil tip is a great idea, complimented by the easy to use sharpener in the lid and a smudging tool on the other end of the lid. It works well in practice, too, with a thin line making it suitable for detail to be applied or using the rubber-like smudge tool for a wider effect. The black colour is dark and almost jet black in colour, making it stand out with firm lines. My wife used this in the morning several times and by evening it was still intact, though she found that it can be easily smudged (though this is part of the design I guess). So gets full marks for staying power as well as looks and application.

It love a good long lasting eyeliner and this one does not disappoint. It is a true black eyeliner that allows for a precise application and lasts surprisingly well both applied around the eyes and on the inner rims. I have deducted a star because I find the product a little on the dry side and although, not unpleasant to apply, I find it drags the skin more than other eyeliners and therefore requires more care on application to avoid irritation. In find if I dot the eyeliner in the root of my lashes and then draw a line over, it gives a better overall effect. On the plus side the Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner sets in very quickly and doesn't travel across the lid, so perfect for people with hooded eyes. The smudger comes in handy for smoked out eye effects, and allowing for various eye looks. Overall, a very good product at a great price.
