Right, so you've decided a) it's time for your first pressure cooker -or - b) it's time for a replacement/additional pressure cooker. Whether you're in camp A or B, have you found yourself unsure of which one to buy? Well stop looking - you want this one. Seriously. Look no further. Why do I like this size/model?1) It's the right size. If you're new to pressure cooking you need to know that you shouldn't overfill the pot. Normally you fill it to 2/3 as a maximum. Otherwise you risk blocking the vents. So you'll want a larger one so you can do joints or soup for more than 4 people easily in a 6L pot.2) This model has safety features AND backup safety features. You will NOT blow up your house.3)It's simple to look after. Give it a rinse in some soapy water & dry. Job done.4) The price is right. Do NOT buy one cheaper. On sale, this pressure cooker can be bought for around 35 pounds. What can they improve upon?1) I suppose it would be nice if it came in different colours. So stop looking. Click buy now. Enjoy your pressure cooker from the day it arrives and for the next 25 years. Best pot ever!

I purchased this item because I wanted to cut down on electricity usage, plus it's another way of cooking I didn't have. Pleased enough with it but- I should have read up more about pressure cookers before buying. I thought cookers were pretty much the same, remembering my mother using one to cook for a family of seven, but they are not! Whilst the Prestige model I bought was a very good price, it only cooks at seven pounds PSI.More expensive ones can often cook at 15, 10,& 5 PSI. Many recipe books are written for different pressures, obviously this affects the amount of cooking times and the amount of 'leci needed to do it. So if you are in the market for a pressure cooker, bear this in mind.I do think Amazon could give a little more information in this regard. I have no complaints about the cooker I bought, although I would have appreciated the type of baskets to put different items of food in similar to the ones I remember. These together formed a circle that fitted the cooker, the one supplied isn't up to much in my view. But, I repeat, this one is good value for money.

I had my first pressure cooker when I was 21 - it was a birthday treat. I am now 57 and have just bought this one to replace it after years of faultless service. So why use one of these? Quicker than a microwave once up to pressure, only use on ring or hob and put pretty much anything in it and it will cook to perfection every time in a fraction of the time that pans alone would do.Fully equipped with safety devices and a very comprehensive handbook, to me and my wife it is a no brainer! We can cook for the two of us or a large number of friends because this has a large capacity. If we put a joint in it along with the veg, there is no mixing of flavours and the food is always moist and tender.A tried and trusted cooker with masses going for it, and it is sleek, shiny, easy to clean and above all economical to use and QUICK!

I have been using this one last 1 and half years. This cooker is different from the traditional pressure cooker what make huge whistle sound by pressure is released. This 6 litre cooks is amazing if you know how to use it. This cooker keeps releasing pressure continues during the cooking. So people might think it is not work. But in fact it is working perfectly. Just follow the instruction provided in manual with cooker. For example Rice is cooked in 15 min. where you keep Full flame for 8 to 9 min and keep the cooker to cool down for next 7 to 8 min away from the heat. That will make perfect rice. You should know the when the food is ready from the smell. Hope that helps.

This is a must have for any kitchen. We use it on the gas hob. Considered buying one of those electric ones, but cooking with gas saves money. We also wanted to learn the principles of pressure cooking, and it feels easier if you control the heat manually. Most electric ones also has some teflon coatings in the cook pot, and that is a hassle to worry about. Finally this thing takes less space in the kitchen than an electric one. It's nice and light, made from aluminium, and so far has been easy to clean. The safety mechanisms on it are quite smart, there is no way this thing is going to explode (which is great if you aren't used to these and find the idea a bit scary).

After blowing up my Prestige high-dome pressure cooker which I have used over the last 42 years I was impressed with this new Prestige pressure cooker and the modern features. No more unscrewing the removable pressure valve to get the correct lbs or gently testing the seal to see if the pressure is reduced enough to open after cooking. It is also lighter to lift when full and with the modern colourful valve and steam release switch; it is a pleasure to use.My original pressure cooker wasn't faulty but I wreaked it due to forgetfulness. I left it cooking with not enough liquid and it steamed dry. I still haven't found the safety valve that went into orbit!

Bought this pressure cooker mainly to make soup but have used it every day to cook everything from potatoes and vegetables tostews and soup. It is surprisingly light and easy to use - the instruction booklet is short and to the point - the only difficulty I have had is lining up the lid to fit properly but I have no problem with it now that I am used to it. It was reasonably priced and good value for money. I could easily use it to make a pot of hotpot for friends on bonfire night. Love it. My husband was moaning saying not another useless kitchen gadget to fill up the cupboard - It doesn't even get put away as I use it every day - eat your words hubbie.

This is a replacement for my EXTREEMLY old High Dome Prestige Pressure Cooker (at least 30 years old). I first sent for the 4 litre as my old one held 4 litres of water up to about 6cm from the top so I presumed the 4 litre would be ok. However the liquid capacity in the new 4 litre one is full to the top so I would personally recommend getting the bigger 6 litre one - it holds the equivalent to my old one and takes up no more space. It is lighter than my old one but it seems as robust it comes up to pressure quicker and cooks the food quicker. So if you are thinking of replacing an "old faithful" go for it!

Having heard of friends that have sworn by pressure cookers for years I took the plunge. Was quite nervous starting off but tried Lamb tagine, pulled pork, chicken cacciatore and beef stroganoff all in 1 weekend. All turned out perfectly first time.Meat so so tender and flavours amazing and all in less than an hour including prep.Easy to use and even easier to clean...Note: I put it in the dishwasher which i shouldnt have.It took the shiny look off the lid.I still wash the base in the dishwasher and hadn wash the lid.Doesnt seem to do any harm.Very cheap price for a top brand cooker.Recommended.

A really useful product, that I've been using for a few months now. However the first time that I used it I was cooking down a large quantity of tomatoes for making soup with. It did a fantastic job, and I really felt safe given all the safety valves. However deciding to put the saucepan bottom part into the dishwasher, I think that the acid in the tomatoes, coupled with the dishwasher detergent reacted with the aluminium and caused it to be discoloured. It's being said the product still works fine, I just though it would be helpful to share my experience so others don't make the Sam e mistake.

Bought this for my mum when she visited. The delivery was quick (ordered it on Sunday, it came Monday late morning, before we were leaving the house for the day). At first, we couldn't believe that it was in the box, because it felt so light! Normally with pressure cookers, we expected some weight, but this had none. Pressure cooked beef, goat, mutton, and it did the work quickly and well. In addition, since the parts are readily available in the part of the world that she's from, she was pleased. The price, quality and size (a bit smaller than she thought, but that's okay) were top notch.

I bought my parents one of these a few years ago and they use it weekly. As this was half price at the time of purchase I figured I need one too. It seems all little less bulky than the one I bought years ago, but is otherwise identical. I assume that some kind of R&D reduced the materials requirement or a different metal alloy (the pressure inside one of these isn't that high anyway). Anyway it works perfectly, I use it to cook a huge stew to last me all week for lunches, saves tonnes of time and after veg prep etc, it cooks it within 45mins. Bosh

the lid now has to be pushed down to enable you to align the handles. the 1st one delivered ended up giving Al shavings and the pressure that had to be excerted on the lid was considerable.not really good for my 88 year old mum.the replacement was delivered very quickly; if fact before the 1st one was collected, cannot fault the service.less pressure had to be excerted on the lid so easier to use.i still prefer my older version with the handles that align easily without pressure on the lid.

I bought this Pressure Cooker not expecting to be very pleased with it. My memories of food cooked by my mother in pressure cookers being not to pleasant. But following some recipes in a modern book on the subject, all I can say is WOW. Where did my mother go wrong? I do not know. It is a good deep cooker, do not buy a shallow one and the only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that you only have to one weight setting of 7 lbs, not the variable weights that some of the more expensive cookers have.

This was taller & narrower than I expected but that worked in its favour & was a plus. I was surprised to find that it was less "violent" in use (not so much noise & steam escaping as my very old one it replaced) & it took a little longer than I expected to get the same results- about half as long again. Im still getting accustomed to the new version of pressure cooker but its probably safer & more refined than my 29 year old pressure cooker- hope this one lasts as long!
