The steamer came packed in an Amazon box stuffed with packing paper. The Prestige box contained the steamer, packed simply in a bag, with a strip of cardboard around it. It includes an instruction booklet, though everything in it is quite obvious if you've used any kind of steamer before. The steamer comprises three stacking pans and a glass lid. The bottom pan is essentially a cooking pot, into which the next pan rests, and the next on top of that. The bottom pan holds the water, which becomes steam, which flows up through holes in the base of each pan to cook the food.I found the steamer an excellent size for cooking food for four people, though we are not heavy eaters.I guess it's all a matter of how high you like to pile your dinner plates with food. If you put potatoes in the bottom pan, they will cook in the boiling water while the rest of the food steams. The steamer is lacking a rice cooking dish to go inside, but really any suitably sized dish can be used for that, so long as it does not block the steam holes.I have used hob and electric steamers in the past, but found a good steel steamer is hard to beat. It uses spare space on the hob instead of badly-needed worktop space, it is not plasticky and fragile, it goes in the dishwasher, and it stacks better for storage. While this one is fine in a dishwasher, its shiny finish will dull over time, but I'm not bothered by that.

We researched many steamers before we bought this one, we think this is the best one out there. What's good about it:1. It's large width 24cm, the largest domestic one you can get, ideal for a family of 4. That width enables you to spread the vegetables across the base of the pans to cook quicker. The size quoted on the base pan is 5.7 litre.2. The glass lid. Essential. You want to see what's going on.3. Quality stainless steel. Other brands seemed slightly thinner steel. It also a decent heavy base to conduct that heat from the hob. What's not so good:1. The middle steam tray is quite shallow, only about 4cm of height. It's enough for sliced vegetables, and of course you've got the top layer which has about 9cm of height for your brocilli or cauliflower. Some more detail on those dimensions:1. The bottom pan used on its own has 13cm height (quite huge and great for par boiling a large amount of potatos before roasting).2. With a steamer tray in the height in that bottom drops to 9cm, still plenty to cook your potatoes in the water while the other vegs steam above.3. The middle steamer tray, as noted above, 4cm height.4. The top steamer tray 9cm height.5. Whole unit stands 23cm high without the lid, 27cm with the lid (if you're thinking about storage space).Overall we're happy with the purchase, it's been in use for 6 months now with no problems.

Got these as we now have a gas cooker and a cooker hood. We steam all our vegetables and the electric steamer we had previously was fine but slowly got chipped to bits and the kitchen always got full of steam. I actually purchased two sets of pots so there wasn't any issues with waiting on cleaning or if we got visitors. Got to say I'm chuffed with them. We got the 18cm pots as we have a slim-line cooker and there is only two of us. I was a wee bit worried that they may not have been big enough but that is not the case. While the lower steam pan definitely has less room than the upper, don't be put off, there is plenty of space. Was also concerned that the boiling pan would run out of water but this is not the case, there's always plenty left after cooking. Check your cooking times as I've found it takes a lot less time than boiling and it's easy to end up with mush. Not bad quality steel pots too as one would expect from Prestige. All round, very happy.

I bought this my mum and dad as they still cooked/boiled, sometimes ruined, their veg. Having used it a couple of times the quality of the product is good but that what I would expect when paying that little extra. My main concern was the handles and do they get hot during cooking? My reason is that mum and dad had previously bought Anthony Worrall-Thompson pans that give you 3rd degree burns when touching the handles. Thankfully this steamer didn't and you could safely handle (pardon the pun) it.I would have given it 5 stars but I found that you couldn't get as much food in it as the steamer inserts go quite deep inside. However if you are only cooking for 2-3 there should be ample room,if not I would get the bigger size. I would definitely recommend this over an electric steamer as they often get used and forgotten about.

I just bought a induction hob (from "Boots Online"...yes, lol, the chemist!) and it meant I needed to change all my saucepans and frypans owing to the fact, you MUST have compatible "bottoms" that react with the magnets in the hob (aluminium and 100% stainless will not "react")This item was not only compatible, it was also the best size for steaming...smaller steamers simply do not have enough room if you expect visitors quite often. The quality of this steamer is, in my opinion, absolutely "spot-on" for our needs and the hob. I am not in the habit of choosing items that simply "will be ok". Pay the little extra and get what you truly need. The speed of delivery too,was "spot-on" and the steamer arrived in perfect condition.I have bought many items from Amazon and had no problems at all in any respect, with my purchases.

Very happy with the steamer. Works beautifully. And looks great too. It feels really sturdy and I love the lid. I looked at many other steamers but brought this one because I see it has lots of holes on the steam rack to allow steam through evenly. Many other similar steamers only has some holes in the centre and nothing around the edges. I guess this would be OK to steam vegetables but not adequate for steaming cakes or Chinese steam buns/dumplings as it won't allow for even steam distribution. The reason for the 4 star is because the handles on the pan and steamers are soldered on. Not sure how long this would last. Only time will tell.

Fantastic multi-steamer. Last night I had beetroots boiling in the bottom, beans and peas in the middle and sweet corn going in the top. I find it a great energy efficient solution and given how great water / steam is at conducting heat things cook well and quickly. I often steam chicken breasts in this as well and the steam means they don't wear out. The item is very big - be aware of that. I didn't pay enough attention to the measurement! I also hand wash it whenever I use it - as I do with all my saucepans - so I can't comment on how it goes in the dishwasher but I imagine it would be fine. very robust construction

I purchased this set of pans to replace a set from another manufacturer which I had for several years but managed to ruin by boiling peas dry. This set is a much better size for me, nice proportions as they are narrower and deeper than my previous ones, and just right for 1 - 3 portions in each layer. I really love using them already, and it's so useful to be able to boil potatoes for example in the bottom and steam veg on the top. The top layers also serve as good colanders for draining veg. I am sure I will be using these for many years, as long as I don't let them boil dry like the other set!

I bought this cheaper on ebay but the price here isn't too bad for a lovely set that works perfectly and isn't taking up space with a huge footprint. The handles are good at reducing heat and they aren't plastic so the gas can't burn them. It's not German heavyweight stuff but it's easily good enough for gentle steaming (without being too heavy) and I use it extensively every single day. Dishwasher proof. I don't like glass tops so I bought some proper metal ones from Meyer Commercialware here a while ago.

This steamer is great, its easy to clean, heats up quickly and allows vegetables to cook evenly and efficiently. Ive used it for a number of things like carrots, broccoli and other veg as well as for fish. Like the negative views suggest the saucepan part of this isnt huge so id only suggest using it for the steamer sections and keep the bottom clear. also the handles will heat up so be careful! Over all though this is great steamer, its smart sleek and rounded style makes it easy to use and clean.

My colleague at work told me about this steamer as she has had one for years and recommended it. When it arrived I was slightly disappointed (hence 4 Stars)as my colleague's steamers on her pan are of different depths (yes, before you ask it is the same make and size steamer). However, it is a very good size regardless as I like to make couscous for my large family, so the meat and veg are stewed in the bottom whilst the couscous is steamed on top. Would definately recommend this steamer.

living in France and not being on maines gas, we have a gas tank and I try to save the gas where ever possible,so I invested in the Multisteamer. My gas has been reduced drastically. The food tastes much nicer, should have got one years ago. now all my old saucepans have been religated to the tip. This model is so strong and as I said the food tastes so much better and it retaines its colour.10 out of 10 for this product

ordered this as my electric steamer kept putting burnt water round my veg etc. it is big enough for me as I live on my own so a big family it might not be large enough. but I love it and I can put the three layers on at once so saves on extra pots. the potatoes and veg are done quickly. so very pleased I ordered it. easy to clean and my order came quickly.

I bought this steamer for my boyfriend moving into his new house as he loves my steamer. It is larger than I expected - more for a family rather than an individual or couple. However, it just means you don't need to use both layers of the steamer. I love the glass lid as you can see how things are cooking. All in all a great steamer and a great price too.

Good build quality; fits together well so handles don't get hot through escaping steam. It is big but we'll soon grow into it :)I think others already have mentioned that can burn stews - true.- nearly forgot .... excellent and worth the cost, does cook veg very well, it keeps colour and flavour better than boiling; essential for allotment holders!
