Pokémon Snap was a firm favourite in our household (back when we only had five N64 games to pick from, and one of those was Rugrats Treasure Hunt *shudder*). It’s true that it doesn’t take long to complete it, and on my last playthrough it took me only two-and-a-half hours, but new players will need more time to uncover all the mysteries of Pokémon Island. Besides, I don’t value a game’s quality on how long it is; a little game I could finish over a weekend is far more likely to entice me back than one which takes up a whole month. This game is short, and so the novelty of an on-rails mechanic to shoot Pokémon (with a camera, of course) doesn’t grow stale. The graphics have held up very well, especially the Pokemon themselves, and the environments are very pretty, though some details look very jagged (Rayman 2 this is not). The Pokémon all sound authentic to the TV show, and the music is really catchy, taking inspiration from calypso, techno, and even a dash of Ennio Morricone on the Valley level. This is still the best 3D Pokémon spin-off out there. Other games may be more fun or have more content, but PS shows a gentler side of Pokémon, something that comes up time and again in the anime but hasn’t been explored as much in the handheld games. This game would be brilliant on the Wii U Virtual Console, with controls retooled to utilise the gamepad.Maybe Nintendo will announce a sequel one day???When Hell freezes over... or Mother 3 comes out in the West.

Although it's geared more for younger players, Pokémon Snap is good clean fun for Pokémon fans of any age. In this Pokémon battle-free adventure, players assist Professor Oak in completing his Pokémon Report by photographing the cute little monsters in the wild on Pokémon Island. Players take a trolley-like ride through the island's 3-D environments, filled with Pokémon that not only look just like they do in the cartoons, but also have "cries" to match. While there's a limited amount of film for each trip and no zoom lens, players enjoy great freedom of directional movement from within the vehicle, thanks to solid controls.Pokémon Snap isn't as easy as it looks,as not just any old picture will satisfy Professor Oak; submissions for his Pokémon Report are judged on size, pose, technique and whether or not there's more than one of the same Pokémon in the picture. As progress is made, new areas open up, and players are given items to aid them in their quest. Although there are only seven areas, they need to be revisited often, as hidden and otherwise uncooperative Pokémon must be "coaxed" by using items that you previously didn't have before. Also, Pokémon will do some of the craziest things--which make for great photographs--but only under certain conditions that require much experimentation (or a strategy guide) to unearth. --Joe Hon

For those who say this game is short, i will defend Pokemon Snap. The overall plot will only take you from a few days up to a fortnight, but there is plenty more to do after, like collecting better pictures or solving mysteries in the different courses. Each course is well thought out and detailed right to the extremes. The 3D effect where you can throw objects is fantastic, and interesting (there are just so many possibilities). The camera angles are made for you to be able to play in the best fashion, and the vehicle is very easy to maneuver as you make your way to the end of each course.I will admit this game is short for non Poke fans, but for all the real fans, this game can have unlimited possibilities and game play, and I strongly recommend!!

Ive never really been an extremely big fan of the pokemon games, my younger brother got this game for his birthday and after watching him play it i was somewhat intrigued. After finally playing the game i found it was very interesting, and original. The main aim is to take photos of the pokemon and the Better the camera shot the more points you collect and these points help you get to the next level, this game is a must for any pokemon fan and is especially good for Nintendo 64 owners who want to play something a little different.
