Teamed up wi' an Amazon Echo Dot & a commbadge & the ambient starship bridge sounds skill xD you can make believe your bedroom is your very own Starfleet quarters."Computer, turn on Bedroom Light."XD its brilliant. You can set wake up times & go to sleep times.Routines, timers, and stuff.I bought it as a disability aid, to be honest. And its really helped.I'd recommend setting the wake up 10mins after the time you awake. As it takes 10mins to "fade in". That way if you visually sensitive, you wonbe awoken 6~10mins early, as that's what the Hue app seems to recommend. The Concentrate setting seems to actually work. The Relax also.It has almost everything.Even a nightlight & a daylight setting.Youcan even use it through the Alexa app.And if you have a portable podium battery for an Echo Dot xD and carry it out the room wi' hands chock full of stuff(and possibly hae a fear of the dark too) XD nae need to worry about lightswitchs. Just ask for the lights off as you walk out, and they'll be off as you reach the doorframe. Also wonderful for getting into bed xD just ask your "assistant" to turn the light off.Dimming it somewhere between 20~50% is also good for havibg to get up to visit the bog, in the middle of the night XP nae plug or lego horrors on the way XDYet, as to be expected xD revert back to the lightswitch, if your internet connection goes down XP then breath a sigh of relief when regular service is resumed XD

These are a great addition to anyone wanting to start a smart home. Install is simple and functionality with the IoT is fun and easy to do. For a normal house, spending the extra of coloured lights is just a novelty but these lights actually help to improve the house. Some examples of uses are - setting a warm relaxing light for the evening whist in the living room, having a cooler brighter light for working during the day and setting a nightlight to come on so we aren't blinded at night when using the loo but having a bright daylight at other times when there's not enough light in the house (paired with a Philips motion detector). With getting these lights,I would suggest starting with one room that gets a lot of use as these lights are still fairly expensive then branch out from there and pair it with a Philips dimmer switch and/or home assistant. As a final testament to these lights, they have been able to convince my technophobic parents of the benefits of having some smart features in the house.

I am a complete convert to Philips Hue, so I love these things. For most homes, the White Ambiance bulbs are perfect as you get a nice range of colour from a cold white light, to a soft yellow glow, and they're half the price of the Colour Ambiance bulbs. If you're trying to create a particular look, highlight an area with a certain colour, then you might want the Colour Ambiance bulbs. The initial outlay with the hub and bulbs seems a bit steep, but once you get going, add in motion sensors, link it up to other Smart Home devices with Alexa/IFTTT, then it makes much more sense. Philips Hue now forms and integral part of my home security setup, acting primarily as a deterrent, but also providing additional illumination for the camera system. When you add it all together and cost it against a traditional security system, then suddenly it seems like great value. The only thing I don't like is the price - they should offer discounted multipacks.

Good little bulb, not as bright as standard LED bulbs but the hue function is useful.I have this and a Hue starter set with hub, coupled with a number of bulbs, hue motion sensor, amazon dot and a google home device.Anyone looking to add automated lighting to their homes, this is easy to set up, can be controlled by mobile app from hue or via a connected device like the amazon dot. Lights can be configured into groups such as living room, bedroom and kitchen so easy to manage. One slight problem at the moment with the solution when used with the amazon dot is that you can't say "turn on the lights" and it detect the room based on the dots location, you always have to specify the group you want. This is an important step thats unfortunately been missed out however this is more of a problem with the dot (which i'm sure will be resolved in time).

So ive been buying an replacing the bulbs in my house with Phillips Hue bulbs for about three months, not a cheap act to carry put I can tell you, originally I was only buying the Colour Ambiance ones which retail for about £50 a pop until I found these, I very quickly realized that the colour changing lights are great but the main ceiling lights I was never really gonna need to change except to dim, thats where these lights come in, you cant go from warm lighting to blue, to green ect but you can dim them an you can change the type of light you get such as warm, cold or fluorescent ect.Basically if your wanting to set up a smart lighting system but on a budget these are perfect, the Colour Ambiance ones are still brilliant but ive chosen to put them in lamps an uplighters to create moodlighting, highly recommended.

Expensive yes but it is convenient and flexible and so far reliable. The bridge , the bulbs and the dimmer all connected to my wifi within seconds and have been working faultlessly for two weeks now. I like the fact that I can time the various bulbs to come on and off at set times. The ability to alter the intensity and whiteness of the bulbs is of use as well. The app on my Android has been fine and for rooms occupied a lot the separate dimmer comes into it's own. I would say the colour bulbs are probably not as useful and I will stick to the white variety in the future. The system is expensive and a luxury , I am in no doubt that I could get along just fine with a normal wall switch and bulbs. However now I have started I am likely to expand the system.Overall very good.

I know they’re expensive for a light bulb before anyone states the obvious! I like the convenience of being able to turn my lights on and off using my phone. Also being able to set up timers when I am away is a great feature. There are the cheaper versions of the Philips hue bulbs that only provide dimmable light and not the different colour ranges of white that these bulbs provide. I personally like the bright white light you can get from these bulbs as it will actually light up the room rather than provide a back light. I only use the Hue app and I’ve not tried any third party apps as yet. I’ve linked my Amazon Echo to the hue bridge and now I can control all my lights by voice! Love it!!

If you have an ECHO PLUS this will work without the Philips Hub.With the Echo or the Dot you will probably need the Philips Hub.The Echo Plus found it straight away and works perfectly. I now have this bulb and two other normal Philips Hue bulbs and all are controlled by Alexa with the Echo Plus or Echo.I've tried a few other makes where you need to install and app and hope that the Echo Plus recognises/finds them. I've ended up returning them for the Philips versions which are a bit more expensive but so far have worked perfectly and have been straightforward to set up.PS I have the Nest thermostat and this works with the Echo Plus without the need for a hub as well.

My whole house runs off Hue, so I've got a fair bit of experience with it. Their bulbs are so close to perfect. On the good side:- Good output power. Not great, but good enough- Perfect smooth transition between colours and states- Fast to respond- Standards compliant so I can add direct to eg SmartThings.Bad:- Has no local memory of state, so if you remove and restore power they all turn on to a low warm setting.- The app and range doesn't embrace the open IoT ecosystemThey are still the lamp I'd recommend though, I think the whole market is ready for mass use but it would benefit from a bit more openness and joined up thinking.

I absolutely love these lights, I bought the starter pack a while back and just kept adding to the pack, I've now got bulbs in every room and even bought the hue bloom and light strips for behind my T.V. You download the app or If you have an Amazon Echo you can link it up and start using voice commands to turn your lights on and off. You can set up timers on the app so if you're out you can have the lights switch on at a time of your choosing. I've noticed a big difference in my electric bill too, quite happy to leave a light on now which i didn't do before. All round great product and brand.

Brought two bulbs so far as I want to set up a control system in my flat as both my wife and I are disabled and it hurts to keep turning on/off lights etc. Also I really like being able to dim/brighten the lights whenever I want. They are not cheap but hopefully they will last a fair while and the pain saved means that to us it is money well spent. I have noticed that the adverts go on about them being classy and hip etc but nobody seems to notice how very useful such a thing is to disabled people!, I am here to tell you that they are VERY useful. Not cheap but worth it.

Genuine Philips Hue light bulb. Considerably cheaper than the normal 'Hue' ones but please note that this light bulb will only produce tones of white. This is what I was looking for as it was for an entrance hall but the normal coloured Hue ones are needed for scenes etc. My second generation Hue bride could not automatically detect the light bulb but I entered the serial number on the light bulb and it was then found straightaway, Now works perfectly. Recommended as a lower cost alternative to the normal and more expensive Colour Hue light bulbs.

You cant go wrong wuth Hue bulbs, I've been using them for about a year now.The only annoying thing I find about them is that they dont hold the last state when they are powered off at the switch.I would like the hub to remember the last state and be able to set it once the bulb is powered back on.The plus side of that is that its an easy way to reset back to default.Hue have also introduced hue labs in the app and are starting to introduce new features.

So these are the "mid range" philips hue blubs. Unlike the cheaper white hue blubs, they will do a range of whites, being cool white, daylight and warm white. They are the same size as the "full" colour blubs but half the price. So would recommend these blubs if you want smart blubs for budget or you will never need the colour option. Remember you will need a bridge for them to work correctly otherwise you might as well buy the non hue blubs for 10% price.

Great product for my alexa... didnt need the hub as i have an Echo Plus but... the hue app wont work without the Hue bridge. The bulb still works as it should through voice controll and im still able to control all the shades of white through the Alexa app. Again all is good and now i can set a routine with it. Ok so its £21 a bulb but thats not much more than an LED bulb these days. I will be back to buy more.
