Thought id come back with some feedback, having got 2xB22s and 3x GU10s I can say I am extremely happy with these, they all came new as far as Im concerned boxes sealed and not seemingly resealed.The osram bulbs themselves are surprisingly decent and werent all that fiddly to setup in Hue/Alexa/hive systemJust some tips if anyone had issues, I setup firstly through a Hue bridge, I reset all the bulbs with the 3 second technique NOT the 5 second one as stated in some places.Switch off, switch On , wait 3 seconds and repeat 5 times, when you switch it back on for 5th time leave it on and after 10 seconds , if done correct the hulb will blink 3 times,there could be a gap of around 10+ seconds between each blink so be patient.If not try again.After this reset philips hue app picked them all up immediately (I would recommend doing them one by one).If you have a light fitting for multiple bulbs (i had this issue for gu10s), do one at a time and when one is successfully linked, remove it from socket before doing the next one, and repeat.If your color bulb goes into a color loop randomly, remove from philips hue and re-add.sequence for me was;1. Install bulbs one at a time byA. Manual reset as above(If individual socket you can leave in after pairing, if multi socket remove after each pairing then add all back after successful pairing).2. Pair in Hue app (add lights)3. Add lights in Alexa (lights > other)4. Hive will auto pickup from Hue if already linkedThe colour vibrancy of the B22s is so damn good, I know its early days but these have exceeded my expectations.I had read alot of concerning things with the osram bulbs, especially in relation to getting them paired up with Hue but I must say, so far so damn good.

I was concerned about the compatibility of these bulbs from previous reviews, so I purchased the Lightify gateway along with Philips hue bridge.First of all I set up the hue bridge so it was all working, then went to add a new bulb and at that point switched on one of the bulbs which I was very happy with when it was detected by the Philips hue.So I continued with the other bulb in my living room, 5 in total, and manually named the bulbs to names that were relevant to their position in the room.So I made a room, called ‘Living room’ and named the bulbs ‘Television Light 1’ , ‘Television Light 2’, ‘Lounge Light 1’, ‘Paul’s sofa light’ and then ‘Maxine’s sofa Light ‘.In the Philips app I grouped the bulbs in pairs,so ‘Television Light 1 and 2’ would have the same colour and brightness as they were both behind the television. I did the same with the sofa lights and left lounge light 1 on its own.So in the app you can adjust every aspect of colour, brightness and can make schedules to turn on lights at certain times etc.I like the Osram bulbs, and have since bought some white dimmable for hallway and kitchen and a physical switch, although everything is controllable from my iPhone/ iPad.So far I have had absolutely no problem with these bulbs, and the fact that I can control them through Alexa is great as well, and I can control them through my Harmony hub and Google from my Shield TV.I will continue to buy the Osram Lightify brand as personally I have encountered no problems with compatibility with them with either my Lightify gateway or my Philips Hue or my SmartThings but obviously you do need some form of hub / gateway to control them unless you got the HomeKit enabled ones and did it from your iPhone or iPad..

Drop the star because of the price which would be a bit eye watering if I was shelling out for it to be honest.That being said, this is a fantastic GU10 smart colour changing lamp that is a bit more expensive than the Philips Hue version but due to its shorter length fits better into the standard light fittings.Obviously it works with Hue - which I use - as it's Zigbee compatible. No worries there and it works just like my Hue lamps, which is to say, excellent.Now, I did read online that some people had issues and there is one small thing I had to do which was put the lamp close to the Hue when setting it up. Really close. When I used the Hue app to find the lamp even at just three meters from the hub it could not be seen.When I put it into a light fitting and held it close to the hub to try again it was picked up fine.Now, here's the thing. This is pretty pricey off the bat and that's because its colour changing - which isn't actually that hard to do with LED's - and for the same price you can get two Hue white light ones. And I've found that whilst the colour changing is kind of fun, to be honest I ended up with a white light as standard which, I suspect, most will too.Build quality is superb which is what one would hope for when buying something this expensive from a well known brand. Definitely on a par with Philips.So, if you really want a colour changing GU10 LED, then this is the one to go for because its better sized than the Philips one for fitting. If you are simply thinking about this on a whim, then think carefully because if you are only going to want a white light then save your money or buy two for the same wedge.

Update - 8th March 2019Now 5*. Osram have clearly updated the firmware to their smart bulbs. We bought 3 x E14 candle bulbs which were near instantly found by the Philips Hue app on my son’s phone. The bulbs are brilliant (excuse the pun) - and really a bargain. Don’t hesitate - as of March 2929, these work perfectly.++++To add to my original review: Since writing the review, we have ordered 3 packs of 2x Philips Hue E14 candles from Amazon and to our pleasant surprise found they were on a 3 for 2 offer, so they were cheaper than non-Philips bulbs! Fantastic - at switch on all 5 paired immediately with my Hue hub. We will be sticking with Philips Hue from now on.When bulbs don't pair straight away the hair-pulling frustration is just too much - go for the original is our recommendation.++++Original review:At switch on, only two out of the five new Osram bulbs (in a single lounge light fitting) connected to my Philips Hue bridge; after a great deal of frustration, including moving the bridge nearer to the bulbs, resetting the bulbs by switching on and off five times with five seconds between and so forth, not one would then connect. Eventually I got one connected but then gave up and returned them to Amazon.It's difficult to believe that a company like Osram can sell such a flaky product. All of the genuine Philips Hue bulbs and accessories I have bought have connected immediately - so I know the Hue system works well. When funds allow, I'll maybe buy the Hue bulbs but at £30.00 a bulb - wow, that would be one crazily expensive lounge light!

This is a Zigbee lamp and will work with the Alexa app directly. The instruction supplied are at best misleading but not neccesary.I had to reset the lamp by using the following instructions (exactly)Open Alexa app on phone and go to devices do not press add yet.Turn off the light bulb you wish to add wait 5 seconds.Now this bit is important so follow exactly.Turn on the light for 5 seconds then turn off for 5 seconds repeat this 5 times in total.I know it sounds stupid but I didn't make the bulb.Now click the plus sign on your Alexa app, thats the + sign to add a new device on the top right of the screenthe new light will (hopefully)start flashing it means that it is talking to Alexa and trying to connect.Follow the on screen prompts when connected to add to a room and away you go. It works!If you don't get the flashing bulb you probably miscounted the sequence, just go back to the start and do it again It will work.The Alexa app has the option to set colour using names that do not always relate to the actual colour it is not a fault of the lamp. To use alexa say e.g Alexa set First Light (if that is the name you have given) to Red. Or any other colour, try Set to Daylight, Warm White etc see the full list in the Alexa app. There is no timer function but it is half the price of the Philips Hue.If you are really lucky you may not have to set the sequence as I described above but from the comments I have read you probably wont be that lucky.

Okay, we finally sorted this last night after loads of grief, so will post here in case it helps anyone at some point.These will work directly with the Echo Plus built in Zigbee Gateway and no need for an external gateway at all but it's not obvious how to add them as a device and neither Osram nor Amazon proffer any tangible instruction. In fact Amazon tech support had no clue when asked. We just saw a couple of vague comments online about switching on and off so tried a few bits.This worked:1. There is a very small window from switching on the bulb to add it as a device, after which it becomes just a dumb bulb and needs resetting if it's to be used as a smart bulb. So have your Alexa app ready to add a bulb > other,or be ready to issue your Echo Plus a voice command to find devices.2. Switch on the bulb and start the chosen add device command within ten seconds, preferably quicker.3. A few seconds into the search for devices your bulb will flash a couple of times, that's it being found. If successful you will be presented with a bulb found notification at the end of the search.4. If it fails or you have already had the bulb on for a time and it has become dumb, reset it by switching in on and off five times in succession. Don't do it too fast, a second or two between clicks will be fine. Then leave it off until you are ready to begin the search again, switch on and immediately start the adding new devices process on the Echo Plus.

I've had the whole house kitted out with Phillips Hue lighting for the last couple of years with the exception of the hallway that has 16 GU10 spotlights.... Initially I bought the phillips GU10s at £50 a pop, but when it turned out they were too long to fit in the firerated downlighters I instantly gave up and returned them - mainly because the bulb cost for one room was already ridiculous.I saw the osram versions on offer at £26 a bulb and thought I'd try again. The end result is perfect, they do fit in firerated downlights and at near half the cost. Do note though, if planning to mix these with phillips GU10s in the same room they will look different and IMO it doesn't look right.The setup is a bit of a pain...I had to download a 3rd party hue app (Hue lights v2.9) and with all other zigbee bulbs off, connect 1 bulb, then force ''touch link'' it via hue lights v2.9, then disconnect it, rename it in the official hue app, reboot the hue bridge and repeat the same for the next one. Some bulbs didnt want to play first time round and had to be reset (with all zigbee bulbs and bridges off... turn light on for 5 secs, turn light off for 5 secs - repeat 5 times untill the light is on, it will flash - at this point instantly turn it off and back on, then try touch link again). It took a couple of hours to get 16 bulbs working... Still worth the hassle, just need to make sure the Hue bridge config is backed up - looking into how to do this now.

Since testing, Amazon have updated the page to show that this only works with Samsung Smartthings and the Echo Plus hub. It initially took a lot of frustration and looking up on other sites to realise that this Osram bulb cannot be used with Hue or the Echo on it’s own until I discovered a software update for the Hue, so it does work but only if you update the Philips hub first. Be aware that other products are reviewed alongside this one, so filter the reviews first.The Osram Smart + is another smart bulb designed to rival Hue and other bulbs that can use voice or phones to turn on and off or dim. My setup of the bulb took longer than expected as I had to first find out what this required to work.Eventually I got it working with the Echo Plus as it wouldn’t accept the Hue Hub and it worked well enough with a nice warm white and instantly responding to voice commands for dimming. After using for a while now I can say that it’s hard to tell the difference between this and the Hue bulbs once set up, but the setup is harder.It’s only later that I found, by chance, the Philips Hue Hub had a firmware update to use some new third party bulbs, including this one, though as it was working with Echo Plus I haven’t tried.As long as you are patient enough to go through the installation properly, this should save some money on the more expensive Hue bulbs and works just as well once properly installed.

After looking for GU10 Zigbee compatible bulbs that weren't £50+ each, I was happy to come across these bulbs recently launched in the UK. I bought 8 and fitted them in our lounge.Setup was simple with the hue system/app. Simply plugged them all in and opened the app, 7/8 were picked up. I had to then close the app and rescan to find the final one. Quite straightforward.They are a great bulb with plenty of light on the 'read' setting via the hue app. The colours are different to HUE bulbs, but the off tone I think compliments the room with the hue bulbs in our lamps. Because of the size of the unit and tech needed, there are actually several different LED elements to this bulb and switching colours is literally one LED off and another on,as each LED does different spectrums. This is disappointing as you can't fade/morph between colours like you can do with the HUE standard bulbs - probably because of the tech not fitting in the unit to do that. This means when changing colours you get a flicker. I've also noticed that occasionally the bulbs don't respond when using Alexa. I.e. 'switch off lights' and one might be left on, so I have to go again. This seems a slight bug in the bulb software.But ultimately hats of Osram for bringing a more reasonably priced GU10 to the market, and I would recommend these bulbs.

THe Osram Smart+ has one enormous advantage over the Philips Hue color changing GU10 bulbs - they are the standard length and fit comfortably in a fire protected socket. They are zigbee bulbs and they work with a Hue hub or direct with a voice monitor like Amazon Echo. They don't work with HomeKit so you can't control them with a home hub or Siri on your phone.One slight oddity is when you power them on there is a pause before they illuminate; this was noticeable when I powered them on alongside a standard white GU10 bulb the first time. The bulb can offer a variety of whites from cool to warm; and offers a good range of color adjustment (I controlled the light via Philips' Hue App and my Hue Hub.)Once the bulb is running it responds quickly to changes in settings and brightness.The Bulb uses 6w; which is fractionally more than the 5.4w of the hue bulbs; not so much you would notice it on your power bill. Color changing bulbs are great for watching films or accenting light for a dinner party. They don't match closely with Hue bulbs so if you are looking to replace the odd hue bulb that is reaching its end of life you should likely look to replace the set. At which point you get the Osram+ other good feature - they are cheaper than the hue bulbs.

I’m reviewing the E27 Classic bulb here and it’s an elegant, simple, no-fuss LED bulb that just works brilliantly. A simple replacement for whatever was there before, it’s elegantly shaped and not too tall so it doesn’t stick out of our uplighters. Control connection is super-simple as well; it seems most of the negative reviews of this bulb centre around the fact you need a hub or existing smart system to control it, and just having a standard Echo Dot isn’t enough, but as long as that’s understood, it’s fine.It gives off a lovely warm white light that doesn’t have any of the artificial yellow tones that can plague some bulbs.The light feels comfortable and natural and helps fill up our living room really nicely.The dimming is excellent too- nice smooth transitions, and capable of the full range of intensities, again it doesn’t suffer from the minimum intensity floor that other dimmable bulbs I’ve tried have had.At time of writing this bulb is selling for six quid, which is amazing for a dimmable smart-system-friendly LED bulb. At that kind of price it becomes affordable to kit out whole rooms and get your home lighting system being very smart indeed! We’re very pleased indeed with this bulb.

I bought these as a cheaper alternative to Hue bulbs for my bedroom. Easy to use but do not dim as low as the Phillip's Hue bulbs, as they are in a bedroom and in a fitment that takes 3 bulbs. This bothers me a little but elsewhere in the house these would be more than suitable, or where only one bulb is required for the light fitting.The range of colour is good but the bulbs are not as hazy as Hue bulbs when glancing directly at them. When used with a shade this would not be noticeable but if you are using a candle bulb without a shade you will see a difference. It is not unpleasant but different. I bought these on offer, on a flash sale I think,for less than 10 pounds and at that price they are amazing and would definitely buy more at that price. Closer to the price of Hue bulbs I personally prefer Hue. Also a bridge is required for them to work as smart bulbs. One other small gripe is that when first bought the olour temperature was different on one than the others. If powered off at the wall switch they can reset to different colour temperatures. This looks odd when they are all in the same fitting.They work well with my Hue Dimmer Switch and app.

I use this bulb with a Philips Hue 2.0 hub and once paired it functions just the same as a colour Hue bulb, with an equivalent lumen brightness rating but a useful cost saving.Other reviewers have commented on difficulties pairing it with the Hue hub, but I found it straightforward and didn't have any problems. I've also seen negative comments about flickering and whining noises (perhaps from other sizes, mine is an E27), but I can say that having used it for a few months now I've experienced no issues whatsoever.I have it installed in an upright lamp in my living room (grouped with with Hue pendant bulbs in the ceiling light) and control it either with the Philips Hue app or via Amazon Alexa /Google Assistant, also utilising IFTTT for maximum flexibility.Though I have no complaints I have docked one star due to the element of doubt introduced by other's experiences of poor longevity. It may be cheaper than a Hue bulb, but for a light bulb it's still not cheap! If you can live with this potential concern, it's recommended.

2015 update: the price has dropped from £25 to around £8-£10 for the E14 candle type bulb, which is great value for a smart bulb. I have in fact bought 5 more for a ceiling light fitting. Upgrading my rating from 4 to 5 stars.original 2018 review:Works great with the Philips Hue hub. I plugged it into a table lamp right next to the Hue hub and switch it on, then quickly search for new lamps on the Hue app and it found it straight away - the bulb blinks twice to tell you it's been found.Once registered with the hub, you can then control the bulb's brightness and warmness via the mobile app. You can of course also use any compatible light switches or sensors to control it.Didn't get the full 5 stars because it is still quite a high price bulb at the time of writing at £25,there are some lesser known compatible bulbs on the market that are significantly cheaper (even one made by a large furniture chain store). Saying that, I expect this to last a good many years given it's made by a bulb specialist.

I bought this set to install with a Philip's hue set up. You NEED a smart hub to set this up. Without it, they're just regular warm light bulbs.Installing them was not too difficult all you do is turn them on and search for them in the Philip's hue app. Once found add them to a room.However, setting them up with Alexa was difficult. You have to ask Alexa to search for new devices. Then rename them in the Philips hue app and ask Alexa to then control them.Sometimes Alexa doesn't control them fluently like she would with Philip's hue bulbs however it can work.Also controlling them from the app they are not vivid fluid. They are snappy. Once you turn them on or change colour,it will take a split second for it to work. Unlike hue bulbs they are vivid fluid and work flawlessly.A good pint is that they are brighter than Philip's hue bulbs. However on specific colour settings they show a different shade than the hue bulbs.I bought these on a massive discount. So they were worth it for me.
