...and goodbye to awful bulbs that were so wrong! If anyone was searching for the “Grail bulb” more than myself (since incandescents were sent packing by the EU regulations), I have yet to meet you. No doubt, we have a lot in common. I cannot tell you how many d#%^d bulbs I bought and had to send back, exchange or bin. (See my previous review for corn cob bulbs...ugh!) If one lives in England, one must have bright cheery lighting for those long, dark winter nights. If one is an avid reader (as I am), one must also have good lighting. I was not optimistic when I got these, but the reviews looked promising. I held my breath when I put the bulb in the lamp socket. (I think there was a mental drum roll).Well, hallelujah and bring on the chorus! There was light! Bright light! Warm (not green) light! Light that turned on with the flick of switch (not two days from next Sunday)...absolutely fantastic closest-to-incandescent truebee-dobee-doo LIGHT! Absolutely over the neon lit moon with these...order these, order them now! Especially if your rooms look soupy green and you can’t read a newspaper without a torch at night. Now, I can relax and know that the winter won’t be one dark, endless night. With my quest for the perfect bulb over, and so much time on my hands, I now must take up flamenco.PS I can’t attest for longevity or efficiency. If they blow out soon, I’ll put down my castanets and leave an edited review. For now...happy, happy! (Just look at that bright warm light on the ceiling! Hooray!)Update from lockdown, March 25, 2020:It’s a great bulb...the winter was warm and bright inside the house...no complaints. Spring is here and the days are getting longer. Still flamenco dancing in the light mostly to keep the neighbours entertained/horrified albeit from behind the picture window of my house. What else is there to do in lockdown? Exactly. (Love these bulbs).

I've now bought quite a few of these over the course of the last year gradually kitting out my flat. Originally it was for the purpose of replacing old CFL bulbs that were not very bright and gave inconsistent light in the same room. But now I've taken to just replacing bulbs when I feel it's time to refresh a room! I've become a big LED convert (started from seeing a friends Hue set up - though that's too pricey for me - and then replacing pricey halogen spotlights with the Philips LED equivalents) and feel the lower energy use, instant on, and consistent colouring across lights is brilliant.I reckon if you're here, you're already seriously considering LED lights, so more important is why these ones?Well, I've bought a cheap pair in the past, but they became annoying; they both burnt out quickly and although they were quickly replaced, I found the replacements were slightly different in brightness. I really feel like you get a higher quality from Philips (and not for much more money) and so have been going for their bulbs when I could (the exception being my most recent GU10 bulb purchase, which came from elsewhere based on a Which? test review). These bulbs are very highly rated everywhere, and for good reason!I bought the 11W ones for my living room to test them out - if they weren't bright enough I was going to move them to my bedroom. However, I think that for my set up they're perfect; any more power and they'd be too bright, I think. Any less and the room would be as dim as it was with the more energy hungry (13 and 18W - though actually the 18W ones were okay) CFLs I had.Highly recommended! The only thing I can't fathom is why the pack of 4 is more expensive than buying 4 individual ones...!

Update after 8 months:Regarding one problem I had in the past with an IKEA LED light bulb, this Philips LED bulb absolutely wins on this issue: noise. See, unlike the IKEA bulb which used to make a "whining" or "whirring" noise, this bulb is virtually SILENT.I repeat, this bulb is VIRTUALLY SILENT.You can only hear a buzzing noise if you put your ear 1cm from the bulb (I have normal hearing).I cannot stress enough how SILENT this bulb is.Seriously. You can't hear it.Did I forget to mention how silent it was?Other details:+ it's a bright light. I'm not sure how bright it compares to a 75watt incandescent, but it is so bright I can elevate the lamp much higher above the table, and illuminate the entire work top.It is definitely brighter than the 60watt incandescent bulb it replaced.+ colour is a normal, just like an incandescent.+ with a normal switch, it does not flicker. I have not tried using a dimmer yet. (I used to see LED light bulbs that had a weird flickering effect, like when waving my hand over the bulb, my hand would seem to flicker. This bulb does NOT have this defect.)+ feels durable - not at all disappointed by the fact that the part that would normally be glass, is made of plastic. I can be sure that this thing won't shatter. The only thing that's not plastic is the bayonet cap (which fits in bayonet sockets perfectly).

A Good replacement for a standard 100w bulb. As others have said there is a slightly more yellowish light but not much.Other intangible aspects include a lack of upward light due to the design - something that may be dismissed by others but people often forget that light shone onto a white ceiling is partially reflected back so things seem a bit darker at the very tops of rooms.Regarding light brightness the ONLY thing that matters is the stated LUMENS (luminosity) and at 1521 is only very slightly less than the approximate 1600 lumens of a standard 100w bulb. I have this product and, whilst the light is a little more yellow the downward brightness is very close to a brand new 100w bulb...ofcourse people often forget that standard bulbs dim over the course of their life.I can't give it 5 stars because it's not a perfect like for like replacement for a new 100w bulb but now that these and other equivalent LED's are available we really have no need whatsoever to buy standard bulb and they should be brought out of service due to energy wastage.

Firstly I am massive fan of LED bulbs and Phillips bulbs in general. I have never had any issues and as a result I have a Philips LED bulb of different shapes and sizes in every room in my house. The bulbs are manufactured to an excellent standard and touch wood to date I have had no failures. Like most I'm interested to see if these bulbs will actually last 25 years.LED bulbs have dropped massively over the years and on average now cost between £5 and £7 for household bulbs of different sizes and wattages. The 100w bulb is very bright, I have have three in two seperate living room lights and it's like daylight in the middle of the night.Everyone that has seen them comment on how bright they are.Overall very pleased with the bulbs.

I waited to review these bulbs as I wanted to see how long they would actually last. Well I puchased and used the first bulb in December 2017 and we're now in December 2018. So nearly a year. Placed in table lamp by my bedside and used a lot. So am very pleased I purchased this product, hence my 5 star review. The lamp's been dropped twice by accident and the bulb continued to work. Never happened with other bulbs I've purchased. And it doesn't get hot. I took the dead bulb out straight away; can't do that with conventional bulbs. So extremely happy with my purchase; worth every penny and definitely money well spent. Thank you Phillips and Amazon. Highly recommended.

Replaced the old incandescent bulbs. They are about the same size as the old bulbs -- but the glass bulb part is slightly larger than the old style bulbs, but I was using fitting to old lampshades. The light is perfect, actually better. The frosted (like the old pearl) gives a more 'natural' light for living room use, rather than the (bluey) bright white led bulbs. Instant on and cool to the touch. These are the bulbs I have been waiting for since they started passing out the incandescent bulbs all those years ago. Okay they are much dearer, but with no filament to break or go they will last a very long time - and use a fraction of the power. Very happy.

Initially I figured these would be great but now, not so much. It turns out LED lights dim with age! So although they are slightly better with power consumption I'm certainly not going to get 10+ years of life from them. Saying that, 1 year after installing I have saved the cost of replacing them in electricity costs.I replaced all lights in the house with led lights which wasn't all that expensive really (but way more than when energy saving bulbs were selling for as little as 10 p at one point)I haven't experienced any failures after a year except for one dimming in brightness, so make what you will and hope this helps.

It's alway hard to buy LED lights when there are 100s different one available to buy. However I picked them based on brightness and brand. So far I am not disappointed, great brightness, really nice colour, no noise or flickering.Update:After a couple of months, two of the lights started to buzz, it's hardly been used. So I contacted the seller and they had no interest in solving my issue other than sending me a poor/ unhelpful email and a link to Philips website.Philips website is useless, customer service hard to get hold off...Thank you to Amazon for a great service, by agreeing to refund the lights.

I can't recommend these enough. Small like the normal bulbs we grew up with, instant light, and nicer brighter rather whiter light compared to the dingy yellow of old (yet still warm not cold looking). What I would say is that these are definately brighter than their old equivalents. I had 100's in the bathroom and kitchen so tried the Phillips LED 100 equivalents and they were too bright. (I'll use those in the loft to replace the old strip light). So I bought 2 x 75 equivalents and couldn't be happier. Just bought this 6 pack of 60's for all the rooms. Love them!!

I have bought previously the 13W version of this product which spread too much light , really like a daylight in your living room/ bedroom. In my opinion 13W version is compatible for outter spaces mostly and big spaces. In a living room/bedroom it is way too much bright for me.My whole house was installed with incandescent light bulb, 60W.The 8W LED of phillips is just the fit for me.Ordered 12PCS, and will do again just soon enough to have some stocks in my house. It costs a 3 pounds per bulb incl. shipment which in local market starts with 6 pounds for bulb.

When I first became aware of the benefits of LEDs (instant on, no mercury etc) the experts were discussing how one day they might reach the holy grail of 100 lumens per watt. These bulbs achieve it - amazing. Yet they only cost £3.30 each. Instant start, excellent colour rendering. At 100 lumens per watt, it is financially advantageous to replace CFLs before they fail - and you will be saving the envinronment. CFLs are only about 60% as efficient - so you would typically replace a 12 watt bulb with one of these 8 watt ones for the same light. Do the sums!

Those LED Bulbs are magnificent and they are exactly as they are advertised on amazon.co.uk......So good in fact, I intend to purchase another batch of those LED Bulbs so I will have enough to go around the whole house and it may also be wise to have a couple of spare ones should any of them go out, but that is an unlikely scenario.I purchased the 13 Watt LED Bulbs and they actually do give as much light as any 100 Watt regular bulb, coupled with the fact that they use very little electricity, I am on to a real winner here.

These Philips bulbs are everything one would hope for from the brand. The light they cast is head and shoulders above those nasty, harsh bulbs sold at the supermarket, and bought here in a multi-pack, are far, far better value. They are the equivalent to a 60W bulb with a warm light. I have them in table lamps and they remind me of the light thrown by incandescent bulbs of the past. Bright without being overpowering. Easily enough light to read by without blasting the eyes out of your head. Recommended.

Bought these as I was tired of the dining room being so dimly by a three bulb ceiling light powered by clapped out 60 w incandescents.Arrived well packed and on time.Very easy to fit, exactly the same as the old ones. Turned on the light and...WOW ! What a difference. These are a HUGE improvement, not only on the incandescents they replaced but also the other energy saving bulbs around the house. Nice and warm light and extremely bright, lights up the living room beautifully.Recommended.
