If you have/want to invest in Hue but are balking at the cost - this is the bulb to get, whether E27 or B22 socket. No it does not support white colour temperature adjustment (just warm 2700k) nor colour (just 'warm white') but it does dim and at ~840lm just as bright (if not a big brighter vs 806lm of ambiance) and naturally supports dimming. If anything it is better built than the 50 pound hue colour/white ambiance ones, much heavier and sturdier though again no metal heatsink like the old Philips master LEDs. Pity but I guess it was a cost-cutting measure. For 1/5 of the cost you can get 5 of these bulbs for your whole room and control it all - just forego colour.Unfortunately for automation of toilets, bathrooms or utility/hallways you likely want 'cold white' and so far Philips does not do such a version. It would be silly to pay for the hue white ambiance for such rooms just to get cold white. It paired OK with both a Hub (to update firmware which was old) and then RaspBee/Pi/Home Assistant though some people reported issues: may need to hard-reset bulb with either Philips remote or command from RaspBee or similar controller.Obviously if you have the money and want to 'play' with white shades or colour then get the more expensive versions but to automate your house this is the best value bar none.PS. You don't need necessarily need a Hue hub (though it's cheap on auction sites) - just get a remote a pair bulb with remote. Job done. But really just buy a used/'as new' Hub for firmware updates and so on for the cost it's worth it.

It came to me with an Echo Plus and I can control it by voice perfectly. I have had it in my bedroom for a couple months now and have no complaints. It gives out quite a lot of light (a lot more than before). It’s amazing to be able to turn on and off the lights with your voice without moving from your bed and you can even control how much light it emits by saying “Alexa, turn on the light at 50%” etc. It can also be controlled by an echo dot but requires you to have an echo plus or the Phillips hub.So the advantages:- Easy installation (all purchased lights screwed in, switched on by switch and power supply, connected bridge and then started the mobile app.Follow all instructions and within 10 min everything is ready.)-Perfect for use with ALEXA (it always hears immediately, never have delays (INTERNET CONNECTION MUST BE STABLE; WITHOUT INTERNET + SIGNED WITH PHILIPS HUE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH ALEXA))-Beautiful colours and bright power.-Easy to use with your mobile phone (you can use it exclusively with your mobile phone and only at home. No online function is necessary.-Normally last for years- all LED lights are from 100% to 5% dimmabledisadvantages:-Need about 10% more power (10watt) than other LED bulbs (9watt), LED strip even 20 watts+ control bridge also needs electricity.**I hope you found this helpful and if anybody has any questions or wants to speak to me before purchasing, feel free. Happy to help**

I bought the multicoloured Philips Hue lighting kit in the sale from Amazon earlier this year. Although being able to change the colour was very impressive I found that we just tended to use different shades of while. So when I decided to get some more bulbs for the three lamps in the living room I opted to go for these white bulbs. They are brilliant and very good value for the price. I am now able to control 3 lamps from a single switch (Hue dimmer switch) and I can also control the lights from my phone, watch and Echo.My lamps used to flicker with the previous bulbs, the problem has gone away with the Philips Hue bulbs, I can dim them without any flickering.I was so impressed that I ordered more bulbs for my hall, landing, porch and bathroom. The newer White Ambience bulbs offer a wider colour gammit but for what I require these are more than adequate and they are much cheaper which makes it easier to fit them throughout the house. One thing to note, these bulbs are quite bulky so may not be suitable for light fittings where there is not much space.

I got these Philips Hue bulbs to use in my living room as an alternative to the more expensive colour changing ones. I wanted some bulbs which would emit a white light, be home kit compatible and dimmable. These bulbs ticked all of those boxes. I have been using these bulbs for a few months now and can confirm that the connect to the Philips Hue 2.0 bridge and work with the Philips dimmable remote. I have also connected them to Home Kit and use them with the Amazon Echo. The light they produce is very bright. I have 3 in my living room, and they have made a huge difference, especially in the winter. I cannot recommend these lights enough. 5/5Further information: The lights work fine on their own and you do not need the Philips Hue bridge, but the increased price of these compared to standard bulbs is due to their ability to connect to your smart home set-up.

I’ve tried others but I kept coming back to Hue, it just works and works better. I love the soft on/off if you turn on via app or via Alexa or Google Home.Hue keeps getting updates and new features such as power on state (on, off or last state). They do work locally without an internet connection (once setup/updates have been completed. You still need your router on though!)Very reliable, you can expand at your leisure. As each bulb talks to the hub either directly (if in range) or to the hub via other hue bulbs, range is almost limitless (there must be bulbs between you and the hub). Imagine your porch light is too far from your hub....but you have a light between the hub and the porch, the porch light will talk via the other bulb to the hub, meaning it’s now in range. This makes hue so much more powerful than simple Wi-Fi only bulbs.

Having already purchased a Hue GU10 starter pack this was for an additional room. Once again I am delighted with my purchase, it was very easy to add the bulb to the existing system and I had it up and running in minutes. I like to be able to dim the lights using the app and also set timers for switching the light on in the morning, it's great that you can have them fade in gently over a set time. I also use the app features to program the lights to come on and switch off to give the impression someone's home when we go on holiday. I've only had this a month or two so can't comment on life expectancy but can tell you the GU10's have lasted for a couple of years and are still going strong. If you like your technology then these are a great addition to any smart set up but are easy enough for a total novice to use. Brilliant.

Screw in and my Phillips Hue picked it up (alongside my other Philips bulbs) and Alexa now controls it, much to my father-in-law's chagrin - 'Alexa, put Big Light on!'.He's from Yorkshire.Basically this is an easy to install light bulb that works with a Phillips Hue 'hub' and can be controlled (as well as by Alexa) by a mobile or tablet with the Phillips App.Set timers for when you're out (to pretend you're in!) or just to stop you bothering to switch it on when it gets dark. Dim it, make it brighter. Go for bright intense, relaxing or dimmed light. Your choice.Hopefully (in addition to the voice activated functionality working with Alexa)this and other bulbs should hopefully repay me over a longer lifetime than the constant annual event of replacing bulbs.

These are the future.I am currently using this bulb in my living room lamp. Easily configurable and usable from a mobile phone. I particularly enjoy being able to dim the light and the light auto dimming towards bed time.I plan on converting most of my home lighting to these types of bulbs in the near future. The costs are high, but are worth it.I have integrated my philips HUE lighting with my nest thermostat. However, I have not been able to get it working properly yet. I believe this is due to my mobile phone which does not record my location correctly. Please note you need to purchase a separate philips hue control unit to use these lights. They will not directly integrate onto your home IP network.

Plug it in, with Amazon Echo plus no need for extra hardware, search for device, it just works.Use the Smartphone App to name it (e.g. Hall)Small learning curve - Leave the light switch on. Switch light switch off and Alexa wont find the lightbulb! If you use the light switch after using it by mistake it will come on at full brightness once you switch it on.I like it at 50% brightness, use Alexa to turn off and on and it remembers the last setting. One other thing. On the same network you only need one Echo Plus. I put my old Echo (no hub) in the bedroom and a previous generation Echo Dot in the kitchen. They ALL control hue lightbulbs, etc. on the same network.VERY Happy,

Great item, works well with Alexa. This came free with my Echo Plus but didn't fit into my lamp so went to Ikea and brought a new lamp.To make everyone aware your lamp will need to be an E27 fitting to fit this in, it's a screw based bulb.If you get this free with an Echo or are simply buying one just turn the light on once screwed in and ask alexa to discover devices and away you go.Will be kitting my home out with more of these in the future. Please note - This bulb is white only and has no colour changing capabilities**I hope you found this helpful and if anybody has any questions or wants to speak to me before purchasing, feel free. Hue lights are excellent. Quite expensive for a bulb, but the Hue lighting system is brilliant, and works well with Apple HomeKit, Nest and Alexa, as well as loads of other apps and services. This white only bulb is the cheapest in the range if you don't need colour, but be aware that this has only one (warm) light setting. I returned it and bought the higher priced Ambience bulb, which is still white only but the settings are much more flexible, supporting warm through to cool light settings. It is good that these bulbs are in the Hue range as it provides more price options to add to the Hue system, but for me the limitations outway the lower price.

If i was building a house myself i am not sure if i even bother installing switches, id just buy a lot of hue bulbs and dimmers.Works very well and easy to setup.. but a few wishes however, .. i wish there was just 1 app in android store for hue by Philips, there are two and i got confused about which to use. Compatibility with other products is very confusing, maybe it is cause it is very hot now and everyone wants to make their own system. I wish there was even more kinds of lights, sensors and etc.Anyway these are great, very well priced, not much more than other quality energy efficient bulbs.Just remember you need the hue bridge.

I love these lights. They provide a very warm white light which we really like, it's not a harsh bright light.I've now replaced all major bulbs in our home with these and make use of the automation piece extensively for routines which I love. The turn on to nightlight mode between 21:30 and 22:30 in our hallway so when we turn the living room lights off to go to bed using the Echo Dot we can still see the way to the bedroom.I especially like the way its geocaching can turn the light on by our front door when I get home, but only if it's after sunset. The integration with IFTTT and Works with Nest is even better!

Really nice light, it feels good quality. Setup was simple using the Echo Plus and I can control it via voice through Alexa with commands like “Alexa dim the lamp to 75%”Or I can use the Alexa App which is equally simple and intuitive.I do think these are a little expensive though. I can’t compare to other brands as haven’t tried any but may get one to compare, especially the RGB lights.I will eventually change all my lights to smart lights (have 8 GU10 lights in living room so you can imagine the cost!)Will be buying a further 2 for the rest of the lamps in the next couple of weeks.

This product shines above most things, currently my stairs and head when I walk beneath. It’s bright not warm however it wasn’t sold or advertised as warm.Simple steps connect to your devices, no issues or stress. You will need to buy an adapter to fit in most uk bayonet fittings. They are relatively cheap and easy to fit.The new age is here! Or rather luxury of the elite has found its way to the common person. Some one called me lazy for having such devices, I didn’t respond I just told Lex to turn the light out as he came down the stairs...he now sees the light! Amen
