I installed this bulb in an old egg shaped multi-colour lamp and it looks great! When you plug the bulb in and switch it on it will flash 3 times to state its ready for setup. You download the Kasa app (I’m on Android) and click on the + button in top right corner, the phone will see the bulb and ask you to connect it to a wireless network. Once you have done this it will check for a firmware update and download/install it. Then you open the Alexa app and add a new device, it will give you a list of different brands and you choose TP-Link. It should find the bulb automatically and then ask you if you want to rename it.After this it is fully setup and ready for use.The colour it gives off is a what I can describe as an old vintage white and it looks great in my old lamp, its nice and bright too if you want it to be. I renamed mine to just “Lamp” so I just ask Alexa to “turn the lamp on” and she does as requested. You can also say “set lamp to 50% brightness” or whatever brightness you want, and she will adjust it accordingly. One thing I do like is that I have an Echo Show 5 and it shows you a power button and brightness controller for the bulb right on the screen so you can set it exactly as you want it.Overall, I really like the look of this bulb and I had no problems whatsoever with setting it up. I’m giving it 4 stars because of the fact I’ve now got to keep the Kasa app installed on my phone and if you buy multiple brands then you will have multiple apps to install and keep. I don’t understand programming but it’s a shame you can’t just use a skill or have the Alexa app just detect it without any extras, but I suppose this is for obvious reasons. If I get more in the future, I will just stick with the same brand to make it easier. I have no problems recommending this bulb!

I've the Kasa KL130 and a Hue LCT015 in the same room and everything about the Kasa is better. The colors are less... white.., they go to what I set and don't hop about on the chart every-time I open the app (color of the bulb doesn't change but it definitely does not feel as though what I choose is what it's set to.. rather it's picking a close approx to where I am on the color wheel and it shows me what it actually set it to when I reload the app. In the pictures you can see the Kasa bulb in the lampshade, and the Hue in the feathery poof ball. The Kasa is more of a deep rich lavender while the Hue is white washed. The screen shots show the Hue set to a far lavender color, but when I reload the app it places the color to something further over to blue and white.By contrast, Kasa just works. It helps that the Kasa is brighter, but I also find the app more responsive. It is missing the picture color map feature of the Hue (which I love) but the colors in my photos are never quite right so the color of the bulb is twice removed from that of the reality. By contrast, Kasa offers a temperature/brightness automation that has the bulb try to match what it would be like outside right now, which is what I use the photo option of the Hue for anyway, and it's much better at it.Over all, I'm happier with the Kasa and will be reselling the Hue. I should be able to buy two more Kasa bulbs on sale for the price of the used Hue and in the end, that seals the deal. As long as Kasa keeps with good quality and good sales, I'm a Kasa fan boy.

I love these lights. I had been looking for a nice looking bulb with WiFi connectivity that would integrate with Alexa. I first saw these buy chance when they were on an Amazon daily deal. Purchased and loved instantly when it arrived.I now have four of these. Two is side lamps in the livingroom and the others are in pendant lights elsewhere. They’re in room groups setup within the Alexa app so I can walk into a room (there are echos in every room) and ask Alexa to ‘turn the lights on’ and on they come. If I’m in another room I can address the lights using the name of each bulb. Not only do they look great and provide a really nice light, the brightness is perfect in every room. You can tune the brightness in 1% increments using either the app of Alexa to create the right light for any space. A simple on/off switch can be used to treat the bulb like a standard LED.Using the Kesa app you can configure the bulb to come on at one of the four present brightness levels or last state when it is switched with either the app/Alexa or at the switch itself. It’s a small thing but I love the way these lights turn on and off via the app/Alexa. When they come on the brightness increases to the desired level and when switched off they fade until off.Control via the app/Alexa is very quick. Instant in most cases. An active internet connection is required for control via Alexa due to the way Alexa works but I have still had local control via the app when our internet connection has gone down.

I've replaced all the light bulbs in my house with Kasa Smart bulbs. These are quite neat and compact bulbs. No bells and whistles, just plain warm white lights, and that keeps the price down. They are made by TP-Link so they should be around for a while and have decent support.Setting them up could be a bit easier - you have to connect your phone to their private WiFi with the Kasa app, which reads your WiFi details to configure the bulbs and connect them to your regular WiFi network. They work fine with Alexa too, but I find the phone app a lot more convenient. The app is decent, and allows you to control the lights - power on and off, dim them etc. You can schedule on and off times, and have them fade on or off. I love this feature and use it as part of my wake up alarm in the mornings. You can also group lights together - to let you turn on all the upstairs lights as a single command for example. It works fine away from the home too, so you can control your lighting anywhere in the world if you have an internet connection.I have had a few problems with bulbs apparently going off-line and being unresponsive to remote control, but that maybe my WiFi signal. They are easily reset by turning them off and on again, but it's a pain when it happens.I'd give them 5 stars if they didn't go offline now and then, but overall I'm pleased with these bulbs.

I have a few of the TP link bulbs, and while they're very useful, they are fairly ugly. This is fine for most of my uses, but I have a lamp that is quite open and an ugly bulb ruins the overall look. This new TP link bulb fixes this problem by having an attractive retro filament look to it made with strips of LEDs.Setting up was a breeze using the Kasa app from TP link. I was up and running in under a minute. With regards to smart functions, this bulb is like any other TP link bulb, or many other smart bulbs. It links into the Kasa app which means it can be controlled via smart device from wherever you are, even away from home. There are schedules that can be set-up to have the bulb come on and off automatically and you can adjust he brightness of the bulb. The bulb can also be controlled through AlexaThe colour is fixed at a warm white which looks like the old incandescent bulbs. The colour works well with the style of the bulb. It's not the brightest of lights, but it is perfectly adequate at providing a warm background light. The bulb has been working solidly for a few weeks now. I've not had any drop outs and it has remained responsive throughout that time.Overall I'm very happy with the bulb. I like the way it looks in the lamp and the retro feel to it. It's great to expand the smart lighting in my home in a stylish way.

I can thoroughly recommend this bulb. I found TP link products through customer reviews when I bought my TP link smart plugs. I'd been looking for a smart bulb for a while to control my downstairs light as it's not wired to be turned off from upstairs. All the ones I had seen required a bridge or hub or something similar and I didn't want to pay a tonne of money for that. So I came across this TP link bulb and figured I'd buy one when it was reduced to see what it was like. Needless to say I was completely happy when it arrived super quick and was so easy to install. I popped the plug in, opened my Kasa app (which I already had from the bulbs but it's easy to download from the app store). Then it took all of a minute to set it up and it was working through the app and my Alexa Echo and Echo dot. I can change the brightness, turn it on and off and I've set up a schedule for it to come on a certain time. No hub or bridge required. Just a WIFI connection and you're good to go. Particularly handy when I realised I'd got to work and left it on. A quick tap on the app and it was off. You do need to leave your light switch on but it uses up about 1p per month of electricity so you won't notice it being on. The only hard bit was remembering to keep the switch on! :-) Will definitely be buying more very soon for the rest of the house!

AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN THAT INTEGRATES WITH AMAZON ALEXA AND GOOGLE HOME SEAMLESSLY. BEING A CLEAR GLASS BULB, REALLY GIVES YOU THE FEEL OF THE OLD STYLE LIGHT BULB BUT WITH ALL WORKINGS OF THE NEW. THE BULB IS ALSO DIMMABLE, SO NO SPECIAL SWITCH NEEDED HERE. YOU WILL NEED AN E27 TO BAYONET CONVERTER. TP LINK USUALLY INCLUDE ONE, SO I NATURALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD HAVE ONE TOO. I PURCHASED ONE ON AMAZON MARKET PLACE FOR JUST OVER £2 ( $2.34 ), SOMETHING TO FACTOR IN IF YOU PURCHASE. DESCRIBED AS SOFT WHITE IT IS PLENTY BRIGHT ENOUGH FOR ME TO WORK ON THINGS IN MY OUTHOUSE. IT HAS AN A++ RATING & USES 80% LESS ELECTRICITY THAN A STANDARD LIGHT BULB,JUST A MERE 7W SO YOU CAN USE YOUR KASA FILAMENT BULB SAFE IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE DOING YOUR BIT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT TOO. DON’T HAVE AN ECHO DEVICE OR GOOGLE HOME ??? SIMPLES , AS THEY SAY, JUST DOWNLOAD THE ALEXA APP ON YOUR ANDROID OR IOS SMARTPHONE AND YOU ARE IN CONTROL. I HAD THOUGHT OF DROPPING OFF A STAR FOR THE LACK OF THE E27/BAYONET CONVERTER BUT THAT WOULD NOT BE RIGHT AS IT DOESN’T PROFESS TO HAVE ONE AND EVEN WITH THE SMALL COST OF A CONVERTER IT IS STILL AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN, SO ITS 5 STARS IN EVERY CATEGORY. MY ADVICE. BUY IT WHILE ITS AT THE COST THAT IT IS, AS I CAN CLEARLY SEE ( excuse the pun ) THIS EXCELLENT BULB IS SET TO RISE IN PRICE..

I was looking for an e27 smart filament bulb. Preferably a hive one since it would group properly with my other bulbs, but this was the best I could find and Im not disappointed...Firstly, brightness and colour of the light is good. Comparable to my existing "dumb" led filament bulbs.Set up is as simple as running the kasa app and plugging in and switching on the light bulb, hook up to WiFi and it sets it up.It features the ability to dim the light and also has schedules to which you can have the light turned on or off (and varying brightness). It integrates with Alexa so you can say "Alexa turn on lounge light".One other nice feature is that if you have the light switch on, but turn off the light via Alexa. If someone who doesn't realize it's a smart bulb wants to turn the light on via the switch... One switch will turn the light switch off (no difference) but second switch (back on) will actually turn the bulb on... Not every smart bulb will perform that way,so this is a very simple but useful feature.Pros- good brightness and light- Alexa integration- kasa app is good and doesn't need a hub- can be turned on from the switch even it's been turned off by Alexa/remote- has timers- dimmableCons- noneSummary for £10.95 which I bought it for, this is an absolute bargain. Top marks

Bought two of these to replace a cheap Chinese one that failed, since you can only buy them in pairs, and fancied an additional one for another room. Wish I had have done sooner, because they're so much better! The setup procedure was a doddle - everything "just works" as you'd expect, unlike the cheaper ones that have problems with 5Ghz vs. 2.4GHz networks etc. and have you fiddling about with various setup modes before they can be coaxed into life. The Google Voice integration also works flawlessly, and unlike the cheaper bulb, this one can be happily turned off at the wall and will remember its settings, reconnect to wifi and just start working again when you turn it back on. So it can be used like, you know, a normal bulb, in addition to the voice integration which is the killer feature for me. Doing this tended to trigger connectivity problems with the cheaper bulb I had. Definitely worth paying a little more for the Kasa, though they're still pretty damn reasonably priced to be fair - certainly compared to the cost of e.g. Phillips Hue when you factor in the cost of the Zigbee hub etc. if you only want a small number of bulbs. Good quality at an affordable price point, as I've come to expect from TP-Link. Very happy so far!

I have been using TP-link for years. Our living room lamp has been connected to a TP-link smart plug for years and it has been great with the Kasa app. I saw this bulb which has the added advantage of being dimmable so I went for this. I could not believe the price was so low - much cheaper than a smart plug and the claims were full integration with Kasa and Alexa - so how did I get on?I have to say - it's fantastic. Added to the Kasa app, I called it 'Lamp' (I had to remove the old smart plug which was called the same). I opened the Alexa app and it all started working. When I ask Alexa, 'Switch on the lamp' - on it comes. 'Switch off the lamp' and it dims off (a nice touch). The added functionality is being able to say 'Dim the lamp to 30%' and it immediately dims. If we are watching a film and want a little ambient light, 'Dim the lamp to 5%' - perfect. It is programmable to come on and off at given times, including dusk and dawn which is great. It is easily as bright as our previous Ikea LED bulb and is a nice warm white colour. At 7W it is a great value purchase. It has a screw fit and does NOT come with a Bayonette adapter so beware of this.I cannot recommend this more highly. Brilliant.

This was easy to set up. Install the app, create an account and follow the instructions. There was a firmware update for the bulb, so it took a few minutes longer. Once done I just enabled the skill in the Alexa app and it was responding to voice commands. You can set up schedules to come on or go off at certain times or you can remotely turn the light on and off when away from home. The only other thing you can do with this bulb is turn it on / off and control the brightness from 1%-100%. The bulb gives a colour temperature of 2700K (soft white) and is the equivalent of a 60w bulb, but runs a lot cooler and with almost a tenth of the energy consumption. My only annoyance with buying smart devices from different suppliers is that they all seem to want to use different apps.Generally, there is some cross compatibility, but if you are going to buy bulbs from different manufacturers, expect to have several accounts on several apps. That being said, once the bulb is working with Alexa you don’t really need to use the original app unless you need to change the network / WiFi password etc.

I purchased two of these a few months ago, to add to the increasing amount of "smart" devices I have in my home. I wasn't disappointed! From the moment you open the box and feel the weight of the bulb, you can tell they are well made, as expected from a top brand like TP-link! They were a little bit on the pricier side compared to other Smart bulbs, but I highly recommend them! They can be controlled by Google Home/Alexa, and come with their own app "Kasa" which allows full customization of colours and brightness, this app can then be connected with Google Home to allow for voice control of the bulbs, including changing the colour. They were extremely easy to connect to the Wi-Fi,connecting first time on both bulbs, brilliant! As I've had smart plugs etc take multiple attemptsI have them situated one in the living room and one in the bedroom, and when I see another deal on, I will be looking to purchase an additional one (at least) for use in the hallway.Overall, if your looking for a reliable, high-quality smart bulb from a well-established brand, these are perfect!

Really good and value for money smart light bulbs. Easy to set schedules and can control light intensity. All can be done remotely via the Kasa app. I now have a few of these installed, and I no longer need to use plug in time switches to control my table lamps or porch light. I've even changed my porch light to accommodate these bulbs. If necessary I can illuminate by a couple of on/off switch operations but I use almost exclusively in a true smart mode, often via the Google Home app. The schedules can be set for ON only, OFF only, or ON/OFF at scheduled times. I find the OFF only a useful feature because if I power up either manually or via the phone app I know that the bulbs will power off at a selected time (which can be set differently for any day of the week)if I forget to do so. The bulbs are very easy to pair with the Google Smart hope app and no home hub is required. No larger than a conventional size light bulb. I think these bulbs are very very good. A great buy. I just wish they were available in the more compact bulb sizes as well. I would buy more

Previously had cheap hallway and landing smart bulbs, one of which broke and didn't keep it's WiFi signal, so replaced both with these tplink kasa bulbs. Straight away the white is much cleaner, the other bulbs I had the white was nowhere near as nice for some reason. Maybe because they were rgb whereas these tplinks are just white. Also major plus point, if anyone wishes to turn on via the usual light switch, you can choose via the app settings how it's turned on. Either in brightness percentages, or last state (how bright it was the last time before it went off) - there are also fade effects in the schedule. Instead of an instant on, I have mine set to fade on in 15 second time frames, and then during the evening the brightness percentage I've setup to reduce at 10-20% again with a fade effect.Nice bulbs and features, and hopefully will last being a respectable brand such as tplink that I've got other products from.Note, one of the bulbs the glass was actually away from the light fitting. Glue came undone, a spot of superglue sorted in seconds.

I absolutely love this lightbulb and I don't know how I used to live without one. Since it says it only works with 2.4 GHz connection and many people (including myself) have now the smart routers (for example from Virgin Media) that don't allow splitting the WiFi I was a little bit worried that it won't work (and I didn't want to compromise my internet speed by turning 5 GHz completely). But! The routers are actually smart and they do detect that this device works only with 2.4 GHz so you don't need to change anything yourself and it works! For security reasons I put it on my guest WiFi not on the one I use for my other devices and I use the Kasa app to Control the lightbulb but it works great. The communication between my smartphone (on a different WiFi) and my bulb is immediate. Installation was super quick and easy. The colours are great and the fact that you can choose one from a whole palette and then manipulate the brightness is a big plus.If you're wondering whether to buy this or not, you definitely should think no more and see for yourself.
