Almost the perfect smart bulb.Installation was easy enough. There is a Edison-to-bayonet adaptor that allows you fit it to most standard UK light fittings. Then when powered on the Kasa app walks you through the set-up process. What I like about the bulb is that it's plug and play (as it were). Nothing but he bulb is required. There is flexibility over control. The app is best since you can be precise about how bright the bulb is and how white/yellow the light is. The app also allows you to control the bulb when away from home (turning the light on before you get home for example). When at home I tend to just turn it on/off using Alexa which works well. Finally it's possible to just use the light switch to turn the bulb on/off.This is useful for when my technophobe parents come round and just want to use the light normally. The only thing to remember is that if they leave the light off at the switch, you can't turn it on via the app/Alexa anymore. The bulb is fairly reliable. I've had no issues with wifi signal in the 6 weeks or so I've been using it. The only minor issue with controlling it is perhaps 1 in 30 times I've tried to turn it on via the app it doesn't respond immediately. It takes a few seconds to think about it before doing nothing. If I try again then it usually works. It doesn't happen very often though so I'm not too bothered. Also using Alexa has worked all the time so far.My only real complaint is about the size of the bulb. It's a pretty large bulb to start with (long, so that it hands down quite a bit). Since almost all UK light fittings are bayonet the adaptor is also required and this increases the length of the bulb further to the point where it will sit below quite a lot of light-shades. There's a few places in my house where I would like to have another of these bulbs, but due to restricted space (e.g. them being up-lighters, or certain light-shades) I just can't get the TP link bulb to fit. It's a shame they don't do them in smaller sizes or at least provide just bayonet fitting as standard.Overall though, it's still a great bulb. Fingers crossed that TP link start producing some smaller/bayonet ones.

Like most other reviewers this bulb is eay to fit install and set-up as would hope for. get the shade (not the lamp shade!) right, set the schedule and job done. No problems with the network and wifi whatsoever. I use it with a light sensor which isnt wifi (because there isnt such a thing as far as I can tell) so when the sensor turns the power off I was worried that the bulb would need resetting and not come back on again ..... but no, it connects within a few seconds as though it has never lost the power. The light from LED bulbs (not just this type) tend to be guided upwards by the fact the "electronics" are in the base, this may detract from the look in some instances. The adaptor is fine, but it does make the overall height of the bulb quite big, so if you're putting it in a table lamp it may be visible over the top of the shade. In this case I would change the bulb holder of the lamp to suitThe only problem I've had is the realisation that I've paid almost £30 for a light bulb, didn't they used to cost 60p?

Installation literally as easy as fitting a bulb. Kasa app does the hard work for you on the technical side.Attaching it to Google was hard but that's Google's own fault if you don't own a smart speaker (Google Home). When linked with Google, the reaction to voice commands is instantaneous. It always leaves me gobsmacked, the light will react before the speech has processed. The Kasa app is easy to use.Negatives. The bulb nearly daily will disconnect and it's a pain to reconnect. Essentially it becomes a normal bulb. If you're having to reset it at nighttime ensure you do not have epelipsy.Overall a great alternative to the expensive Philips Hue range, but needs some work.03/08/19 ---- Update to 5 StarConnectivity issues have been amended by an update for a couple of months now and there are no longer any issues with connectivity

I was quite surprised by the bright white and the daylight shades this thing puts out. I hate the dim yellow from regular incandescent light bulbs; this bulb will change from the regular "yellow" of a regular bulb to brilliant white to a hint of blue. I'd have liked to get the multicoloured one but £45 for a light bulb is ridiculous. £30 for this one is really pushing it but it works well with the Kasa app and with Alexa (when she actually understands you!). I'd definitely get another one of these for other rooms. The fact that it doesnt need a hub of its own and works with your regular (2.4GHz) router is also a bonus.I did have a problem with it buzzing like crazy at first but I had a dimmer switch installed on the wall.I swapped it out for a regular on/off switch and it works fine now.

I purchased the Colour Bulb and have found the brightness great. The Kasa app on my smartphone is easy to use. Also works great through my Amazon Echo. The software allows setting from either warm white to cold white. Or a selection through the colour range. Brightness set between 0 & 100%.Only issue I had was intermittent WIFI connection on the bulb when I first got it. Alexa and Kasa both initially had issues sometimes controlling it. Online it mentioned that a firmware update resolved this. I performed this through the Kasa app. Since then its been 100% reliable and very responsive. The bulb only works with the 2G WIFI networks. Which most people use. Its not compatible with the newer 5G networks. However most newer routers broadcast both 2g and 5g signals for backwards compatibility.

TP-Link's smart platform isn't _very_ smart. "Circadian" brightness is pretty much useless since you can't tune your peaks and troughs. Had to retry for over an hour to get it to actually link with Google Assistant, and at least Assistant can control the state and brightness more easily than the fiddly app, but I can't find a way to set temperature or scenes through it. IFTTT integration helps with that, but the Kasa service cannot accept numerical values over IFTTT, we have to create redundant applets to set different scenes each. But it runs, and is decently bright—I'd pay for a brighter one still. (Also, who makes bulbs that let you set brightness linearly? It's not a linear unit!)and the temperature spectrum is also pretty vibrant.

I did buy couple of wifi led bulbs from amazon and they claimed to be equivalent to 60w but they were chinese products with unknown names they wasnt even equivelent to 10w they were so bad you cant imagine so my advise stay away from anything chinese with unknown name (Shame on amazon for allowing these fakes to be sold). Finally I stumbled upon these in PC world and they looked amazing so I orderd from amazon and they are awesome, they are equivalent to 60w and very bright. Easy to install and connet to wifi esy to set up and very good quality I will be upgrading all my bulbs to these ones. Shame no similar GU10's yet.Fantastic bulb just buy it if you want a wifi standalone bulb with no hub.

It just works! Linked with the iPhone app and Alexa with little effort. You can change the brightness and colour temperature as you wish.It is on the heavy side if you are planning to use it with a Anglepose type of lamp, your lamp might have difficulty holding its position. It is also longer than a normal E27 bulb, so you will need to make sure it is not protruding too much if you are planning to use it with a shade or as a ceiling light. It also hums, which is quite noticeable when used as a lamp bulb. All those considered, I will give it a 4 out of 5.

Initially I chose the TP-link system as all the others required a bridge to work, this didn’t. I can say honestly that I have not experienced any problems with the TP-link system of bulbs. I have numerous all running through both the Kasa app and also Alexa.Routines can be set easily, for example if you want to have lights on when leaving the house, which ones, colours and brightness. Equally the one in my bedroom is programmed to come on at a certain time and brightens slowly over time.Very impressed with the whole TP-link system.

I like the idea of this innovation but am not yet sure of its value especially at such an inflated price. I still find mechanical (rather than digital) timers very reliable with the slight irritation of having to adjust by 15mins weekly during the two equinox changes. This bulb avoids that but it does mean (1) I have to have my phone on me at all times to adjust the bulb and (2) I have to switch off the bulb especially until I put it on a schedule. I must do this !Reduce the price and I will buy more.

Excellent product, relatively easy to set up and use. Brighter than expected for the wattage. Slightly too white (cold) or too yellow via the settings i.e. there doesn't seem to be a happy mid point in the colour control!!Once set up with timed on / off periods you can still use them as normal but must remember when you want them to turn on / off whilst away you need to turn them on at the switch then off via the app!! They will then come on / off as per the timings defined in the app.

I have three bulbs in living room table lamps in use for 7 months, still working perfectly. They are connected to my google home mini and work great with voice control. If out, I can turn lights on with the app no problem. In winter, I use the in app timer to switch on and off, very useful. also, by assigning all lights to "living room" all lights come on with "switch living room on" command and the same for off of course. Altogether a very nice piece of technology to have, I recommend.

The main reason for choosing this over other known brands is the fact no bridge/hub is needed. The bulb was easy to set up and the app works well, although the UI might benefit from a makeover.Being able to control the bulb remotely is really the main reason for getting a smart bulb and this one does that well - and there is no subscription fee needed for that capability. While at home the bulb functions well with alexa integration, responding quickly.

It was easy to set up, once you get use to the app is fine. I have had a problem where it was disconnected while then it took me an hour to reactivate the lightbulb but since then it was fine. Installed 3 of these lights in my house, when I was away It was on preset for different times to come on or off and it also allow me to turn it on or off while away. Overall it was very good and doesn't need extra hub or equipment to control it, all from my phone

I started with the plain warm white variant bulb which are great, but having the ability to set a better atmosphere is now a no-brainer. I set mine by default to automatically adjust brightness and warmth over the evening to help set me up for a good night's sleep.Only thing that stops me giving 5 stars is they occasionally lose connection with my Google home, but this is probably only once every other month and could be caused by anything.
